Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am Sherry Mackie. It's time for us to go
to God in prayer, and as always I ask that
you join along with me in prayer. You know, I
think about all the time we call ourselves Christians. Yes,
I'm a Christian and we like to brag about it.
But when we say that we are Christian, we're saying
that we are christ like and are we really loving
(00:23):
like He loves? I'm constantly prayer. God, search my heart.
Teach me how to love like you, Teach me how
to live like you. Heavenly Father, we come before you,
humbled by your words, your words that say a new commandment.
I give to you that you love one another justice
I have loved you. Lord. That kind of love is
(00:43):
higher than our human understanding. It is patient when we
want to react. It's forgiving when we want to hold
a grudge. It's merciful when we feel justified in our anger.
Yet you call us to it, not by our own strengths,
but through your grace. So Father, we first ask for forgiveness.
(01:04):
Forgive us for the times we mishandled your people, when
our words cut instead of healed, when our silence wounded
instead of protecting, when our pride spoke louder than compassion.
Forgive us for loving conditionally, for choosing comfort over obedience,
and for failing to see others through your eyes. Lord,
(01:25):
we confess that sometimes we've judged too quickly. Sometimes we've
assumed the worst, and we've forgotten how much grace you've
shown to us. God, we've held on to a fence.
We've replayed hurt over and over again in our minds,
in our hearts, and even out of our mouths, and
we've allowed bitterness to take root in our hearts. Today, God,
we lay those things at your feet. Clans Us. God,
(01:48):
heal us, renew our hearts. Jesus, teach us to love
like you loved, with humility, with sacrificing, with truth. God,
you loved us when we were broken, You loved us
when we were undeserving. You loved us all the way
to the cross. Help us to reflect that same love
in our homes, in our churches, in our communities, and
(02:09):
even towards those who have hurt us. Father, give us
grace when emotions run high, mercy when relationships feel straight,
and wisdom when we don't know what to say or
how to respond. Let our love be guided by your spirit,
not our feelings. Help us to speak with gentleness, to
listen with understanding, and to forgive as freely as you've
(02:29):
forgiven us. Lord. Where relationships are fractured, you bring healing
where trust has been broken. God, you bring restoration where
love has grown cold, God rekindling with your divine fire. God,
let the way we love be the evidence that we
belong to you. We don't want to just quote your commandments.
We want to live it. Shape our hearts until love
(02:51):
becomes our first response, not our last result. God, Let
our lives declare that we are your disciples, not by
our words alone, but by the way we love one another,
entreat one another. Thank you, Father, God, for loving us
perfectly and patiently. Thank you for never giving up on us. God,
we receive your grace today, and we choose to extend
(03:12):
that same grace to everybody else around us. In Jesus'
mighty name, we pray, Amen, Amen, Amen,
