Yes?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Yeah, we're being at being at the main table. I'm
using the producer's booth.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Yeah, I know Shane's usually in the producer's booth. But
we're gonna make you have some fun with this show
because it's not organized. You know, it's not like the
script I send over, you know, so good luck.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
No, I'm just kidding.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Uh So, Yeah, a couple of things done better.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
J I was staying organized, but you're still kind of,
as you call it, squirrely.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
My wife's a.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Therapist, so I think she thinks that you're really more
like erratic. Probably that's in her expert appearance.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Yeah, but with the Spurs stuff, I'm a little bit
more scripted.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Sure, it's it's it's all like I sent it out yesterday.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Yeah, Like I was like, I gotta do this, and
I was doing that after Oh, you owned Alabama for
the second straight year in a row.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
But no, I had some fun yesterday, guys.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
I actually uh got to team up with Game Day
Men's Health yesterday and actually went out to Chicken and pickle.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I was good.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
You know, we were able to kind of talk to
a couple gentlemen about you know, you know, Game Day
Men's Health and everything else like that. Because I'm now
like three months into it, I feel great. I feel
absolutely great. I mean now I'm gonna get ready for
the pepti treatment, you know, so it's gonna be fun.
And it is funny. Yesterday as we were out there,

(02:10):
I was out there with Verne and you know, we
were leaving, and I was leaving and was like, all right,
I'm gonna go, and I almost got run over in
the parking lot.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yeah. Yeah, I almost got run over in the parking lot.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
I was like, heyserve it though, no, I mean maybe
I probably wasn't probably attention, probably not, but I see.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
So he leaves out key details.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
So the guy gets out of the car and I'm like,
you know, I'm getting ready to be like, hey, hey, man,
be careful. That was Mitch Johnson. It was the head
coach of the Spurs. I was like, hey, coach, how
you know And he's like, hey, sorry about that.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Uh you know. So it was. It was a good
dime out there, but cool.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
It's cool when you see your co workers out in
the wild.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Yeah, you know, yeah, co workers.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Right.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
I'm like, I wonder if he knows that I'm the
guy on the Spurs countdown show.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
I mean like indirectly we all work with Mitch, and
just like he doesn't really know who we are.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
But I get props to the city of San Antonio
because I think everybody would do the same thing that
I did, and I was just like, hey, how you
doing and then just walk on, Hey, coach.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
You can hit me if you want to. Yeah, you know,
on my leg or was on my hand?

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Do I do it selfie or you know, But I
was like, you know, it's one of those moments. I'm like, hey,
almost got hit by the head coach. You could have
been the San Antonio spur his owner. I definitely would
have moved it downtown, though.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
I one time had a similar like not exactly simer,
but another like encounter with the famous person by accident.
So I it was when I lived in Houston, and
this is that this is at the time when right
before Harvey, when Houston was hosting the Super Bowl. That's
where the Brady twenty to three comeback.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Super Bowl March twenty eighth, that's what we call it,
March twenty eighth, three twenty eight because you know twenty eight.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
I got it, I got it.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
But this is my storys this is my story, and
what happened was is like, so you know, I'm a
lifelong Cowboys fan, and my favorite Cowboy to this day
has always and will probably forever be Emma Smith. So
he was doing an autograph signing at the at Downtown,
and so I went down there and I waited in
line for like an hour and a half, excited. I
had his rookie card. I had his nineteen eighty nine
Rookie card. It's like and there's a little lemonade card holders

(03:57):
that they have the tops one.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
I don't know how much it's worth, it doesn't matter.
I've held it for a long time. Anyway, I went there,
I'm gonna take get it signed. I didn't realize till
I got to that line. I said, Okay, do you
need to They said you need to buy at least
fifty dollars worth of merchandise for him to sign. I said, well,
can I just tell him send this? Like no, unfortunately,
you have to use this license sign and blah blah blah.
There's always a contingency when it comes to like getting
the signature from somebody at one of those tables. And
I thought this was one of those like, hey, if

(04:21):
you just wait in line, it'll be there every now
and then every now and that's all it is. But
it wouldn't.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
So I leave. I'm bummed.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
I'm not paying fifty dollars with the merch because East.
I don't know about you, but I'm not waiting trafving
for an hour and a half.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Definitely not fit fifty dollars with a merch, definitely.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Even if it is Emma Smith. And he's one of
my favorite players of all time, right regardless of team.
So as I'm leaving the mall, all of a sudden,
like I get ambushed along with some people in like
this large group, like we're all like shoulder shoulder.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
We're walking out, walking out, walking out.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
I kind of get sucked into the group and lo
and behold, right next to me is one EMMITTT.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Smith.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
He's walking in. I'm looking. Oh my god, he's right there.
He was right there. Did you touch him?

Speaker 4 (04:57):
No?

Speaker 3 (04:57):
But we were about six inches apart shoulders and two things.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
One biggest smile in the world. Two he's a lot
shorter in person that you think he's like five eight
five nine, give tip. But he looked a little short.
Everybody short to me. Well yeah, well that's the thing.
Is also in the NFL they kind of skewed the
height a little bit, they do. He might have been
more like five eight five seven.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
That doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
I was still like, oh my god, that's Emma Smith,
and I've never been starstruck. I met Keky Palmer one time,
and I've never been starstruck. He says, like, what you
met Keky Palmer. I used to be a security guard,
and they they send you different events and a lot
of times like they had me work the green room
and work the VIP area just because like I don't know,
I guess they just liked me better. I've done a
lot of events. I have other stories I can't really

(05:37):
tell on there. That stuff that I've done for as
a security guard. Nothing illegal, is just stuff that's like
not really appropriate for the show.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Well you know, I mean, we all it's it's a
starstruck thing. And then of course when you work in sports,
you're just kind of like I'm gonna let you be
and I'm gonna do all that. So many ways you
can listen to us. You can listen to us on
the iHeartRadio app. You can also join me on my
Facebook live page. Bill Brindle in here, Ricky Bobby in here.
I know that he's watching the Madrid game right now,
the Dolphins and the Commanders. It is a soccer match.

(06:08):
I think it's six six at halftime right now, Born,
I'm kind of getting over these europe games, but you
know they're good. We got to talk college football, and
we're going to take a couple segments.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Here to talk it.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
But you know, yesterday the SEC was a lot of
must win games.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
When we woke up.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
In our first game was A and M in South Carolina,
I think that everybody just kind of put that to
the behind and said, you know why you even watch just.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Check the updates.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
I expected a blowout, yeah, just not like that.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Not the other way around. Right going into halftime the
game Cocks are up thirty one to three, yep, or
thirty to three, excuse me, you know, and then A
and M.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
I guess Marcel Reid that might have been his heisman moment.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Yeah, and you know what, twenty one points in the
third quarter, seven points in the fourth quarter. They hold
on and beat South Carolina thirty one to thirty. Now,
I think if you're the committee, and I think that
if we're looking at Texas A and M, and we're
going to kind of probably punish them a little bit
in the rankings.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
I believe.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
So you are you going to move them back or
I would move them back because that was a home game. Okay,
that was a home game. Twelfth Man was there. You
got Aggie fans everywhere hyped up, and then lo and behold,
you kind of showed some weakness. You can't do this
in a couple of weeks against Texas because now Texas
really doesn't have anything to play for but to beat you.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
Because Texas one thing attack consistently all year has been
a really good defense. The offense has been kind of
up and down. I would say last night, I didn't
think the offense really did all that bad. They just
they turned the ball over at the wrong time, they
didn't covert what they needed to, and the defense that
was probably the first time he dam actually showed up.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yeah, and it was just one of those games where
I feel that A and M is going to.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
Soffering the polls and then moves back. So you would
put Georgia ahead of them, absolutely, Okay.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Georgia, Georgia is gonna move up because again Georgia beats
Texas yesterday.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Yeah, one points in the fourth.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Quarter that that was that's that's when's the most impressive
win this year. Yeah, Like, if we regard text As
that highly. Then that's the most impressive win this year.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Yeah, And the third quarter felt like it took like
an hour. Was watching it last night and I was like, man,
this last ten seconds, I'm like, seriously. And then the
fourth quarter, I think I got up and got a
beer and came back and I was like, how's it
thirty five to ten already?

Speaker 2 (08:21):
What did I miss?

Speaker 3 (08:22):
So I get where you're coming from.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
When it comes to moving A and M back, we
have to punish them because we allowed too much against
no offense to South Carolina. They're three and seven infaor opponent. Yeah,
I don't think they're gonna do that because I think
I think they'll probably it'll be the conversation.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
I believe so. But I think that just because just.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
Because Animal is already two spots ahead of Georgia, they're
not gonna move them that far.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
I get.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
I get that this is the best, the best that
A and M has done uh in a long time.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
UH ten win team? Yeah, I think that.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
You know, everybody's saying, Johnny who, Johnny manzil who, Like,
at this point A and M is on the map.
Are they in the playoff contention? Absolutely? Are they gonna
be in the SEC time game. Sure, they got to
get I think one.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
More win and they got to Texas.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
So and next week they actually if they they could
actually clinch a spot with a couple of losses.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Let me ask you this, guys, because you just said
they have Stanford, right, Yeah, it's that it's that game
that doesn't matter at this point. Do you think teams
like this, like A and M who are ten and
oh who are seven and oh in the SEC do
you think that they could go into the schedule and
just say, hey, I'm done with this he So, what
do you think do you think that you could just
you know, wash this out and say I don't want

(09:30):
this because of injury and because of what's going on
as we're trying to push them towards the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
I think no, no, no, I think that you gotta
play it. You gotta play the game. You gotta keep
that undefeated score eleven ozh. You're going into Texas next week.
You got to just keep preparing for the game.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
The problem The problem with that is is that, like
I I feel like the backups, the A and M
haves I think theoretically are are good enough to beat Stanford,
and if you are going against a Texas team, which
I at that point likely is going to be desperate
they have to win that game that I would rather
have my guys healthy as possible. Now, the question then becomes,
if you sit Marcel read theoretically, would they punish him

(10:11):
in the Heisman race? Yes?

Speaker 3 (10:12):
With that want to affect him because my top three
you know, my three heisman guys right now?

Speaker 4 (10:16):
Uh uh Mendoza read Jacob Rodriguez. We'll talk about that later.
That hasn't changed. I think Marcia we actually helped this
case a little bit. I think Fernando Mendoz helped this case.
I think Jaco Rodriguez helped his case. I think sitting
out a game like that, regardless of who it is,
this late in the season, I think that actually would
probably hurt him.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
I just think it's it's kind of game.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
I know that A and M will win it, obviously,
but I think that you know, you don't really get
to full on prep for Texas as much as you
want to, especially after a game like this. You know
practice is gonna be a little rough for A and
M this next couple of weeks. I mean you should
have put South Carolina away, and when it was seventeen
three at the end of one, I'm like, what are
we doing? And I think A and M fan out there,

(11:01):
and I think everybody that watches college football says, oh,
it's only a matter of time.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Well a time, Like I.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Mean, Shane Beemer, unfortunate sportually has who has a fantastic
first name but a terrible coach. He's ground, he's greyhounding
on the way back to the Columbia.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
But I think where it's hard to for sports talk.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Stations and everything else now is that we're putting A
and M in front of Texas. We're talking about Aggie's
We're talking about, you know.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
The the rise of Texas A and M football.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
There's a There are Texas fans out there irritated right now.
When they realize that tomorrow or sorry, Tuesday, when in
the CFP comes out, A and M, Tech and OU
are all gonna be ranked ahead of them, and it's
gonna get under their skin.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
He's as laugh bec as she knows.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
It's right.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
It's definitely right, that's definitely right. Well, yeah, they're frustrated.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
But I think at the same time, and I want
to discuss the playoffs, and I and I and I'm
gonna say this because I think Texas.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Still has a shot to get in there.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
I think that their resume, even with three losses, tells
me that they should get in there, because you know,
and think about it. During the break, they lost to
Ohio State fourteen to seven.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
They also lost Ohio State their best game, also lost
to Florida.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
That's fine.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
How's that fine?

Speaker 4 (12:11):
It's dude, Oh, you lost to Texas. Okaye, by your definition,
Texas a good team. In fact, if we look at
OH you in Texas, Texas as the tiebreaker, oh has
the better loss rate.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
But if Tech goes up into Ohio State Week one,
right and has the record they have, now do you
judge them for not being in the playoff because they're
a two loss team? But they lost to Ohio State
fourteen to seven, who's the defending national champion and you
lost by a touchdown week one?

Speaker 4 (12:40):
I don't judge them based on that loss. That's a
good loss. A bad loss is when you lose to
a team that's not going to a bowl game.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
It feels sick because I just defended Texas.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
You shouldn't defend Texas, who are oh used two losses
they are Old Miss and Texas.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Okay, would you consider those quality losses?

Speaker 2 (12:56):
I considered Texas a trash loss. We should have won
that one.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
But but in terms of like the teams themselves like that,
those are those are quality losses, correct their quality. So
would you consider oh Miss in Texas quality? What you
would say with losses? I would quality because because Bama
now because sorry, oh you now his wins over Bama
and Tennessee and uh had another really good one.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
You have Michigan in Michigan.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
So right now, y'all's resume actually looks better than Texas.
You though Texas has the tie breaker, that's the difference.
It's like they're going to look at not just quality wins,
who has the better losses.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that Texas lost,
and I think that they will lose to A and M.
So coming up after the break, we're going to discuss
a little college football playoff scenarios. Where does everybody stand
and are you happy with it? Sound off on my
Facebook page and uh tune in Buckle up because the
fanatics is just getting started right here on ticket seven
