Speaker 1 (00:04):
We're going to discuss a little San Antonio Spurs. So
obviously later on today these Spurs play the Sacramento Kings.
You can catch that game at three o'clock right there
on news radio twelve hundred WOAI. But you can also
count down to the Spurs countdown show that We'll start
at two o'clock with me, yep, that's right, Me, and
(00:26):
then we go to Carl and then we go to
the game and then we go to post game. But
you know what doesn't switch out because you get me,
then you get Carl, then you get Dan, then you
get doing right. Who doesn't switch out? Lisa? She's there
the whole time. I mean, I've hard working. I know
you are.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
I mean I've been in your shoes. I remember one year,
like I pretty much did. I felt like all the
you saw me, I did like pretty much all the games.
It felt like, yep, Lisa has killing it.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Yeah, and then you just have to, you know, we
have to get the Spurs back on winning ways. So
it's kind of it's kind of funny with me with
the Spurs and like what I wear at the station.
So if I wear the logo, I have got this
like knit shirt on with the logo we win. I've
noticed that.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
So you're like Tiger Woods with the red shirt pretty much,
you know, And why why are you wearing like, you know,
sweaters and all that other stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Because it's cold, It is cold in the studio, and
were sleeves underneath this? I do, But I just I can't.
Are you superstitious?
Speaker 2 (01:26):
You?
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Are you superstitious? A little? I am to be honest
with you. If like, if I'm watching a game and
you're late to watching the game with me and stuff
is changing, I'm kicking you out. I'm kicking you out.
I'm serious. I'm like, you're You're gone, and somebody will
turn on a light. I got you. Yeah, don't turn
on the light, turn it off. I mean to.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
I mean we're talking about just like the last two
games against the Warriors that the Spurs, it felt like, honestly,
you had the edge offensive.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Defensively, it was free throws. Well, free throws what killed them.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
It's not free it was, Yes, Steph Curry is one
of the best players I've ever seen at drawing foul.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Forty six points one night, forty nine the next.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
The only one that was ever better at that, which
is just because of technicality was Damn's hard.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Look, I'll sit there and I can agree with you.
Free throws obviously one point loss, you can say free throws.
You can say this holding onto the damn ball. The
turnovers are ridiculous for the Spurs this season. I'll be honest.
If we're gonna sit there and we're gonna say keys
to victory, this and that, I think itsa if you
ask me, I think I say turnovers right, Less turnovers
(02:28):
equals wins, correct, correct and so. And the thing is
is like when we're watching the games here in the studio,
it's kind of like you get in sync and you're like, oh,
you know, you kind of throw your heads up, you know,
because there was one. And look, Spurs fans don't don't
sit here and be like, oh, here he goes. He
doesn't like the Spurs. I'm not saying that we're eight
and four or second in the Southwest Division. We have
(02:48):
one of the greatest records out there in the NBA.
Right now, you're just naturally complaining. I'm I get to
complain about what is not working, and what is not
working is turning over the ball. We were up ten
with six minutes to go in the fourth quarter of
the NBA Cup game, which could have locked us to
get into the semi finals already, he could have taken
care of Group of death, but no, now we've made
it interesting because we can't hold on to the ball.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
What I like though, I mean, I'm gonna give miss
Johnson credit for this because once Darren Fox came back,
obviously that altered how the lamps are gonna be shifted.
With Louke Cornette and Kelly Linnock and all them came back.
Now you have to go from like would be like
a seven man rotation down like nine. I can appreciate
the different lineups and the different rotations they've used. I
really like Champenney off the bench.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
He's been a really.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Good three press shure no, because we love it when
you have the cell out there on your starters. He's
your best free throw shooter, consistently correct, like Women's gonna
take the most, Baselle is gonna make make the most,
and then Champenni gives you like those extra maybe three
three pointers a night, give or take.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
That's really has been. He came in and played solid
on Friday. He was actually you know, helping out because
he went four of nine from three point land and
he off the bench. He's the double digit you know
score off the bench, which you know helps out because
it you know, Harrison Barnes had seven points, so you know,
but here's the solid thing. And this is scary for me,
all right. This is what like I kind of like
(04:06):
stood back. I was like, all right, so if we
take out Curry and we take out Butler, we beat
Golden State all day every day. So they have two players, right,
they have the spurs of women. Well Butler twenty one points,
Curry forty nine, Draymond Green six points, and a loud
mouth Moses Moody with four points, will Richard with ten
(04:27):
off the bench scoring. Dude, add it up. They're bench
scoring nineteen points.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
That was just the last game. Yeah, yeah, we had
like four players that outscore their bench.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Yeah, we outscored them with the four players that we had,
you know, And it wasn't a solid night for Cornett,
Like it was a reality night Kelton Johnson reality night
as well. But the thing is is that Golden State
came in here and they won not one, but two
in a home to home where this is guys, this
is playoffs. Okay, this is playoff material right here. This
(04:57):
is what the NBA is molding you with with the
Cup scenario, with the home and homes, and you let
Golden State come in here and get two wins when
they were in the corner already. They were coming in
from Oklahoma City down and they were on a mental
break almost, and we could have put them there Wednesday
night or Friday night, and we didn't do it. And
I think for the Spurs fans now it's like, hey,
(05:19):
we're playing Sacramento today at three o'clock, which, first of all,
let's let's be clear here, a three o'clock game on
a Sunday. I don't like them. Put them in prime time.
I don't like this, you know what I mean? Because
Sacramento's coming in on a five game losing streak and
we have to put together four quarters? He said, Have
we put together four quarters? We have not, Right, if
(05:41):
we look at all the games, we have not done that. Yeah,
the last two.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Games against the Warriors, you played really well in the
first and third quarters, it felt like, and then the
second and fourth quarter, for some reason, when you start
to peel off a little bit, and I might be
looking at the wrong thing, but it feels like when
you start the game or you start the half, that's
where the energy comes from, and they kind.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Of lose it a little bit. Yeah, and we ran
out of gas in the fourth quarter. We had a
ten point leaning in the fourth quarter. And I think
that that's going to stick with everybody today. And I
think I feel bad for Sacramento. Yeah, but I don't
feel bad for Sacramento, if that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
I think another thing I think that doesn't help. And
it's pretty obvious. I think this team really does miss
Dylan Harper, just because for sure, because it feels it
feels like when you don't have to Iaron Fox out
there at the point, you're kind of forcing Castle to
do that. And let's be honest and said, we've talked
about this off air. Castle's game is not being the
guy who's handling the ball or rather like opening up
shots for himself, yeah, or even like throwing something down for.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Wemby or something.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeah, He's not the one who's gonna like facilitate the offense.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
And today, folks Victory, Wimen and Yama right now on
the injury report as a game time decision, so we'll
see what happens there. So one hour, down, thirty minutes
non stop to go right here on the Fanatics on
