pre set.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
In the best part, it's free, it's free.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
So speaking of the best part, I keep emphasizing this, obviously,
we had our Thursday night football and all the Cowboy
fans I said, I guess sat there with tissues and
watched Micah Parsons play against the Washington Commanders, and of
course the Packers dominate the Commanders in Green Bay.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Green Bay's looking good.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
They're two to zero, completely dominating the opponents that they
have faced thus far, which, by the way, let's be
real here, those were the Lions that made it into
the playoffs last year and the Commanders who made the
NFC Championship game. So Green Bay is kind of looking
like a team that could go there.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Yeah, they're looking maybe it's early, maybe the best team
in the NFC, right, So.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
You would think, Shane that Micah Parsons is happy.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
You think, you think, but.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
Early, you think.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Guess what, guys, guess what cowboy fans. He's already complaining.
In case you missed it, Thursday, after the game, he
was interviewed and a couple quotes from this again now
I'll remind you he's a little hurt. So they're kind
of I guess what what do you call it in
the NFL when you're doing this, You're you're kind of restricting.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Him from full play.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Minutes restriction, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Minutes restrictions. Kind of doing that kind of thing with Parsons. Uh,
he says, honestly, it's pissing me off. Can't hold a
dog back forever. We've already started drama in Green Bay.
Micah Parsons, everybody, the guy that Jerry Jones traded away,
he's starting drama. Let's be real, Michah, you were hurt.
You didn't even participate in training camp. It's hard to
(02:11):
release a dog back into the wild when it's still hurt, Micah.
And if you think you're gonna pull this crap up
there in Green Bay, think again.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
You're in a different franchise.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
Now.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
This is not a franchise.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Where they're there's business owner that's all about making money.
Green Bay wants to win championships. You don't know what
that tastes like yet, Micah. So what I would do is,
I would, you know, trust the trainers here because Green
Bay did kind of pay you a lot of money
and they want to make sure that they don't waste it.
So Michael Parson's chill, but you gotta like that cowboy fans.
(02:47):
He's already complaining. Week two, Shade, Week two, he's complaining,
I still.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Think this was a good trade.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
I mean, it's definitely it's well. First off, it's too easy.
It's too early to see how good of a trade
it will be. But you like the return on a
couple of aspects. One, Dylan, people who think in your
way of like, we want to get the headache out
of here, and there's been other players like this throughout
the time of college football for sure that you want
to get out. Antonio Brown comes to mind, Michah Parsons is.
(03:16):
We're not going to dispute how immensely talented and effective
he is as a pass rusher, right, we would be
dumb to say he sucks.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
We also know, like how much of a locker.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Room headache he could be if you're someone who doesn't
think the same way he does.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Right, like that, that's a fair thing to say, very fair.
But you also think.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
That if you're the Cowboys and things haven't going your
way the way you've been doing things, and if they're
trying to do this new way of thinking, because that's
that's the thing everyone's talking about all reports come my Dallas.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
They're trying to they're trying to modernize.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Yes, they've signed three guys from and we'll talk about
this a little more later from that twenty twenty three
draft class, and they moved on from a star player.
They don't sign that many guys to that many high
profile contracts for the same year, and they don't move
on from star players. So at the very least, the
how was doing things different now on the Green Bay
side of things, While Micah, You're right, Michah did not
(04:05):
play the entire game both times he was disruptive to
his credit in the times he played. But I think
the frustration from him is realizing that, hey, I didn't practice.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
I was at practice, but I didn't practice. I need
to get to game speed.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
They're not gonna let me go full go till probably
I would say week four, maybe five, give or take.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Yeah, that feels about right.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Yeah, but he's still like, I mean, he's got to work.
I mean, and he didn't work in the offseason. And
it's very you know, and funny. Funny enough too that
there's other headlines about him because Jerry Jones apparently was
talking to the New York Jets about trading Parsons to
the Jets, but the Jets told him that they didn't
have the resources to entertain these conversations. Obviously, we would
(04:44):
see there that Jones would end up dealing Parsons to
the Packers for defensive tackle Kenny Clark. And now Jerry
has reiterated his stance that he's always wanted a dominant
interior defensive lineman, right, which is what you're getting with
Kenny Clark. A lot of people though it's so funny
me shaying that that there's a lot of fans out there.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Oh, he's been in the league for ten years. He's old.
He's washed up, is he?
Speaker 1 (05:06):
I don't think so, you know, in Parsons again entering
what is it, his fourth year in the interre okay
fifth year. So here's my thing too. By the way,
I've got a beef with Kirk herber Street. You got
beef with everybody, Well you come in with beef. I
do because I have to. But Kirk Herbstreet is a
guy that, oh my god, he like how many compliments
he was giving Micah the other day. I was like, dude,
(05:28):
we get it, bro, I give I get you're coming
from that. He's like, oh, yeah, the Dallas fans must
be upset.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Dude. It's freaking Green Bay and Washington. Can we talk
about them for a while.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Herbie used to be the guy that actually break down
the game in the middle of the game.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Now he's being way too like, you know, you know,
methodical with it.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
What did Herbie do in the NFL? Okay? There it was?
That was his career, right.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
I mean, granted, he's great on college game day, but
I am getting tired of this guy, let's say, right now,
seeing them all the time.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
I don't I don't know how you feel, but I
know probably have a beef with him. No, no, it's
it's I'm someone who if I don't like you, I
will not do any sort of like negotiating with you
of whatsoever I want. I'll probably even ignore your texts.
So I don't know how you are with that thing.
You might be a little more like, you know, a
lave branch esque in that way. I'm I'm a middle child,
I'm petty, So my thing is my thing is this Jerry,
(06:20):
Jerry Jones and Woody Johnson, the owner of the Jets,
and I think you know this, and for those that
don't know this, they have a long standing beef. That's
the reason that the Jets and the Cowboys don't do
business together is because those two do not like each other.
I have a hard time believing that Jerry, even if
Quinn Williams was part of the package, would do anything
to help the Jets out in that regard. And he
(06:43):
said on New York rated show, I did see I
don't know if you saw this. I saw the rumors
that one of the teams that wasn't play for Micaeh
was actually the Ravens.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
But they didn't want to give up any defensive players.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
They were all about giving up all these draft picks
because the Ravens one thing that really could at is
draft and development defensive players. They don't want to get
rid of them. They want to keep those guys on themselves.
And let's be honest here too.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Jerry has made a smart move this week extending the
Tyler Smith signs a four year, ninety six million dollar
extension to become the highest paid guard in the NFL.
So it's the interior that Jerry loves the most. Go
figure is what did Jerry play at the University of
Arkansall guard guard? He was a guard for the University
of Arkansas, right, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
And he was actually not supposed to be on the
team he was.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
They said that he was the most sensitive when he
would get hit and everything else like that. But again,
he does sign him a Tyler Smith, who's a two
time Pro Bowl guard. They've agreed to the terms of
a four year, ninety six million dollar contract which includes
goly eighty one point two million guaranteed.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
He's only twenty four.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, he's set. He was set to earn twenty four
million per year.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Smith now becomes the highest paid guard in the NFL,
edging out Tray Smith, who inked a ninety four million
extension with the Kansas City Chiefs back on July fifteenth.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
So again, you've got the protection now, right.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
So, like I have said before, the Cowboys are transitioning
away from that defense, right. And that's what I'm seeing
here is that we've tried with the defense. The Dallas
Cowboys have tried for seasons with the defense.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Right.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
You had a conservative play caller last couple seasons. You've
got Schottenheimer in there now, which we saw in Week one, Shane.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
He wasn't afraid to air it out.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
The problem was you had receivers like Ceedee Lamb dropping
passes that they normally don't drop.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
I don't think I've ever been more happy to see.
And the offense pre snap with the Cowboys that having
the years, because you know what they were doing. They
were moving around, they were motioning, they were that looked
like a twenty twenty esque offense, not an offense that
was like that.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
That's two thousand and nine, twenty ten. That's old.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
They're modernizing and I'd love to see it. They're get
they're getting new. I don't know how successful it's gonna be,
especially because like I think you're all along the same
lines with me. However, Dak Prescott looks this year and
next year because next year is when you can get
out of his contract at the end of that season.
That's going to determine how confident they are in this system,
because if he's not the guy that you think he
has moved forward, then you're asking shoddy and what would
(09:13):
be year three right to go with a rookie.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
And the thing is is that, you know, let's be honest,
Daniels last week against the Washington Commanders had two hundred
and seventy seven yards in the air. Okay, against the Giants,
I'm sorry. And the Giants have a weak secondary, yes
they do. Ceed Lamb can't come out and we can't
see a headline tomorrow morning that oh I should have
done that. That's my fault, right, Ceedee Lamb has got
(09:39):
to make up for week one because the problem was
is that if Ceedee Lamb caught some balls there, Philly's
probably going into Kansas City today, oh to one. And
I don't want to say that from the fanatic side
of things of the Dallas Cowboys. But let's be clear,
Dak Prescott had a game. Yes he did, Okay, Dak
Prescott showed up to that game, you know. And the
thing is is that the white outs today. They've got
(10:02):
to catch the football. You've got to catch the football.
And most importantly, you're at home win and it's the Giants,
it's a division opponent. There's no excuse come tomorrow that
if the Dallas Cowboys lose this game today. I want
everybody fired, even Jerry himself.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
I mean, that's a little that's a little harsh, but
I got you, I.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Think, but you you got to get these wins. I mean,
that's the thing is.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
You cannot afford to go oh in two in the NFL.
You cannot afford to do that unless you're a team
that is championship bound, which has been the Kansas City
Chiefs or the Philadelphia Eagles. The Dallas Cowboys cannot limp
into Week three oh win two. They need to go
into Week three one in one.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yes, no, I agree with you, especially just because you
can't lose to the Giants like that.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
I don't care how how impressed with the front seven is.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
You don't you don't you can't lose to that team,
not the way it's constructed right now. But I know
and I know we're coming up on a break. I
want to give some more love to shot It for
this reason.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Uh huh.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
Bryan Schottenheimer.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
While he listens to Jerry in the overall scheme of
the of how the business is run, Jerry is allowing
him to coach. He is not letting him say that, Hey,
we drafted Masi Smith in the first round, we're gonna
start him. He's an active last week, and I think
he's gonna be an active this week. He's he's making
players earn their way onto the roster. He's not other
than guys like Ceedee Lamb, who you're You're not gonna
not start Ceedee Lamb. Guys like that. They're saying like, no,
(11:21):
I don't care where you're drafted, you're not gonna if
I don't think you're one of the best forty six
guys because they can hid dress forty six, you're not
gonna play. And at the very least I respect that
because they're at one. Jerry's allowing him to do that.
He has a little bit of the reins off there
and two. Shot he's a man of his word about it,
and I appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
I just think that you've got to put forty plus
up on the Giants today.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
I think you got to end it early.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
I think that you've got to make Cowboy fans relax
at every bar that's out there at home going to
Dallas Stadium today.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
Let's see Joe Milton in the fourth.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
I would love to see the Cowboys just take complete
dominant control by halftime and this thing is over right,
because you've got to address the haters, which means that
if you if you sit there and keep New York
in this game for four quarters, something's up with your.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
With your team, and it can't be defense.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Right, Somebody on the defense today has to take care
of Russell Wilson, and they've got to force New York
to say, you know what Jackson darts are?
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Guy?
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Moving forward, if you're that defender.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
On the Dallas Cowboys, there is not one dang reporter
that's gonna ask about Micah Parsons in that locker room.
They're gonna be talking about that one defensive player that
shut down a Super Bowl winning quarterback. Let's not forget
Russell Wilson. Has won those Super Bowls, so you better
play today. That's really what you have to do with
the Dallas Cowboys or something. Maybe because I like to scream.
(12:46):
Even though we completely dominated Temple, I still scream at
the screen.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
Are I mean you're going with two affilly losses in
a row?
Speaker 3 (12:53):
What?
Speaker 2 (12:53):
No, what are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Because our picture come up in a few minutes. Oh,
I know, I know what we do with that picks there,
But we'll see.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Coming up next, which team in the NFL should be panicking?
That's all next on the Fanatics on Ticket seven six
