(00:27):
a little bit later on today our podcast. So hello
to you listening to us on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Hi,
good to hear from you in the future and thanks
for listening. So kind of break down these two little games, right,
We've got the Texans, We've got the Jags.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
A couple questions here that I was asked.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Chris Caster was asking if the Texans go zero to three,
is the head coach on fire?

Speaker 2 (00:49):
What do you think?

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Shane?

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Uh, It's the thing is it's possible because this would
be his third season, right as third season.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Especially offensive mine and head coach.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
He was there with the team as they're starting to
get to progress itself. And you're right, he's a defensive
mind head coach. And right now the Texans have the thirtieth,
their thirtieth in scoring defense, which is not supposed to
be their mo No, so you would think that, like, hey,
this is your specialty. This is exactly what we need
to be working on. It's not working, especially against teams

(01:19):
that honestly you probably.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Could have beat. You could have beat the Bucks.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
They could have.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
They very well could have, you know, and you're at home.
It's the wide out because apparently a good friend of
the show, Rick Loya, what he's told me, because he's
a diehard Texans fan, is that the very first game
is always like victory white and that's why everybody wears white.
And then you know, road red is what the fans
will wear because it's you know, battle red.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
I think that's what they call it.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
But here's some fun facts, a little bit just you know,
two games in the season, your opponents have scored five touchdowns,
you've only scored two. Your total points, your opponent's thirty four,
You twenty eight. Tailor tape tells you what that you
gotta score more. I scored, yeah, you know, I mean,
And that's the thing here is like if you're not scoring, eh,

(02:03):
you know, and your fourth down percentage, by the way,
you're fifty or one for two. Your opponents when they've
done it to you, yeah, they've they've gotten it. Your
defensive minded coach, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Passing?

Speaker 1 (02:15):
You're thirty two of fifty one. You've got net passing
yards of three hundred and thirty three on the season.
Passing touchdowns, you have one. That's the crazy stat right there,
one passing touchdown for CJ. Stroud Because everybody gave him
a pass last season, did they not?

Speaker 2 (02:33):
They said, oh, it's sophomore year. Yeah, but now what
is it?

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Well, I guess it'd be junior of the year three.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
I would like to see CJ get out of the
pocket a little bit more. I would like to see
him get away from it because right now, the Houston
Texas didn't really address their offensive line like we thought
they were going to do in the off season. And
people will say, well, it's week three, dilling, it's you know,
it's not a big deal.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
It is a big deal a week three.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
It's one of those things.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
If your team is zero and two today and you're like, ah, okay,
if you go.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Oh, three.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Your percentage of making the playoffs just went down hill.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
And that's a good point because they did physically have
I think the worst ranked offensive line in the NFL
last year. Now they went out and got guys, right,
they got bodies, They move guys around. But it's not
a coheat. It's not I guess you could say melting,
melting the way you.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Think it would be.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
No, but I think, you know, I think the road
battle might actually be won in this game. It's the
other side of the trenches so here. So I don't
know if you know others or not, but the Jags
have the lowest pressure rate allowed in the NFL through
two games. Their offensive line actually playing pretty well. Conversely,
the Texans, with Will Anderson and Daniel Hunter and guys
like that, they are actually generating like the sixth highest

(03:42):
pressure rate on defense. I think this game might get
one there. First, if the Texans can get to Trevor Lawrence,
who has not been as mobile as he once wasn't
in Clemson, I think that can win into the game.
If not, Trevor Lawrence has shown that if he'd give
him time, he can find his receivers.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
I agree, and the thing but Jacksonville's one of those games.
It's always fifty to fifty for the Texans. Yeah, and
it's usually a home and home thing.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
I get it. It's division game.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Blah blah blah. Right, it's like with Philly and Dallas. Right,
we look at it that way. But if you're a
Texans fan today, you've got to win this game.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
This is a must win.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Am I crazy to say, Shane that for the Texans today,
this is a must win game.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
I remember once upon a time they had that old
stat of no team that zones who hasn't made the playoffs,
and then eventually a couple teams did.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Then it became like a three percent thing.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
I don't think there's ever been an zero to three
team that's ever made the playoffs, especially especially in this
new seventeen game going on eighteen games soon era. I
don't know that. If you're the Texans, I don't think
you can overcome that. I think they have a talented roster.
You would agree they have a talented roster just on paper,
but the output of it. I think that comes back
to coaching. If you have a talented rush, and the

(04:49):
Texans do. They have a lot of talent everywhere, offense
and defense. That comes back to coaching. Why are you
not getting the most out of these players? That's the stem.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
No, I agree, and by the way, to answer yours,
only six NFL teams have made the playoffs after starting
oh and three.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Really, The nineteen eighty one.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
New York Jets started oh and three, finished ten to
five and one. The eighty two Tampa Bay Buccaneers oh
and three finished five and four, lost in the wildcar round.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Must have been a short year that year.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
The nineteen ninety two San Diego Chargers started oh and three,
finished eleven five, won the AFC West, lost in the
wildcard round, the ninety five Lions, the nineteen ninety eight
Buffalo Bills alwa and guess what, I guess the Texans
will take a sigh of relief because back in twenty
eighteen they also started oh to three and they finished
eleven and five. They won the AFC South, but they

(05:38):
did lose in the infamous wild card round.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
So I guess if you're the.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Texans, oh in three is nothing right. But I would
tell you this, that's a small.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Percentage of NFL teams.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Okay, You're part of a very small class Yeah, jumping
into that later game because I know we only got
a few minutes left in the show. The Dallas Cowboys
at Chicago one and a half point favorite.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
It's I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
I think Dak has got to open up the passing.
I think we've got to see a lot of deep
passes today. I think we got to see the slants.
I've got to see Lamb and Pickens just come to life.
But I also want to see the running game, Shane.
I want to see this running game open up because
I don't want Caleb on the field that much. Yeah,
because when I want him out there, it's because Clowney's

(06:23):
gonna get his first sack today as a Dallas Cowboy, Okay,
and he's gonna hit him hard.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
And I bought Himo Javonte Williams, by the way, on
this offense, Javonte looks like North Carolina Javonte Williams.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
He's been good the first two games, but I think
after the heart attack last week against New York, I
think you kind of don't want to look ahead because
you got Green Bay coming in next Sunday night, and
you don't want to trip today in Chicago. And if
you're the Dallas Cowboys. I think you're having a lot
to prove today.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
And I also don't want to rely that much on
Brandon Aubrey. It's nice to have a weapon like that,
but you don't want to consistently have to go down
to the wire multiple times to beat the Giants who
you should have beaten worse. Yeah, the Bears, they're past
Demis because I have the numbers up. They are bottom
three in all major passing categories. So you're right, Lamb Pickens, Turpin,
Jake Ferguson, even the running backs.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
This should be.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
A This should be over in the first If you
have a Cowboys player on your fantasy team, you should
be starting them. That's how many they're allowing ten yards
per completion.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
That's insane.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
They're giving up a first down every single time they
allow a catch.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
But you've you've got to put it to the face
of Chicago. You want to see Chicago start off zero
to three. You want to handle your business in Chicago.
Because here's the thing about Aubrey. Like you said, y'all
don't want to rely on him. I don't want to
rely on him either. You know why, because Soldier Field
sits next to what a big, old, great lake.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
We don't know how the winds are going to be.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Like in soldier fields sometimes they can be a little
bit crazy, Shane, I have no idea.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
I haven't seen the report yet.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Right, the autumn wind if yeah, the autumn winds that
come off of that lake, that's going to affect a kicker.
You don't want today's game to come down to kicking.
Even though our kicker we could put him in the
back pocket, but you don't want that.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Do you have an X factor in this game? Because
I know you like those like guys like watch up
for this guy. Is there an X factor for this
game that you can think of, because I don't really.
I mean, I would think a guy like Kenny Clark,
who's been good the first couple of games.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
But who's your X factor in this one?

Speaker 1 (08:14):
You know, I want to see the difference, and I
know Clowney's not gonna play every snap. I want to
see what he brings to the defensive line. Right, I'd
like to see Clark a little bit more. But my
key factor to today's game is Dak being week one. Dak Prescott,
I agree, Okay, he's got to air it out. He's
got to do something again. You can catch me today

(08:35):
later on over at the Hollow when the Training with
Trudy show is we get you ready for the Cowboys
from two.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
