Speaker 2 (00:04):
It is that time on iHeartRadio where we do have
to chase down Florida man and or Florida woman and
follow all their exploits. We do that every day in
This is called WTF and that stands for what the
Florid And we go first, Brittany to a Florida man.
(00:25):
He has been wrongly jailed after deputy has confused him
with a suspect of a very similar name. Oh no,
mistaken identity by name alone.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
You're getting arrested on name.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
A Jacksonville man spent almost two weeks in jail. He
missed the birth of his child because deputies mistook him
and they placed him with a suspect of a similar name.
According to his attorneys, Yeah, Samuel Vasquez was arrested in
Duval County charged with assault, burglary, criminal mischief, grand theF
cruelty to animals.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Problem.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Samuel didn't do any of that stuff. He's the wrong guy.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Samuel's got a good case right now. Let me tell
you today that's right.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Ultimately, spend thirteen days behind bars, missed the birth of
his child.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
No way, attorneys, way the hell I would raise.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Ooh attorneys with the Yoshi law firm. They got involved,
and they've proved that their client was wrongfully arrested and
innocent man was arrested, they said, and sent to jail
for thirteen years mith the birth of his child, the
whole thing. According to this, the names are spelled differently. Ah,
that's what you gotta watch out for. I got to
make sure all the eyes are dotted and the t's
are crossed. But according to this, the name was spelled differently. Yeah,
(01:37):
both men have the same name, but one is spelled
with a vas qu e z. The other is vaz
qu e Z. But they have That's what the similarities end.
By the way, their ages, birthdate, height, weight, all different,
all different.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Yeah, the Samuel Vasquez that spent thirteen days behind bars
wrongfully has no criminal history whatsoever, non zero. The other guy,
he was on probation at the time and he has
got a lengthy grap sheet.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
But there it is.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Get ready lawsuit arrest.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
How much you think it's worth to miss the birth
of your child. It's gonna cost that at least a millie.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
At least you only get to see that once. You
know what I mean with that particular kid anyway. I mean,
it's gonna have to be more than that. I feel like, yeah,
you think you take that and double it.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
We go next to a Florida man.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
He was arrested after a dealership mistakenly reported.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
A truck stolen. So we got a guy on.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Mistaken identity because the names were the same but just
spelled differently. Now we got this guy arrested after a
dealership mistakenly reported a truck to be stolen. The owner
of a just purchased He just bought this truck. He
bought a twenty twenty four GMC. He got arrested a
couple days later when the truck was reported stolen. The
dealer entered the wrong vin for the pickup paperwork, and
(03:09):
a dealer also had installed the tracker on the truck.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
But there it is.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah, by the way, that's a no go, seeing as
the owner his job is tied to a top secret
government work and they weren't supposed to have that tracker
in the truck anyway. Yeah, So now he's suing a
Volkswagen dealership where he bought a GMC truck after being
arrested by police over what appears to be an error
(03:36):
in paperwork, Shane Sprague and as an officer with the Coastguard,
I thought he said he worked for the government.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Ah and top secret. Get out of here anyway, anyone,
now I'm kidding.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Ah. He was handcuffed and he was detained, cuffed and stuffed.
They were under the impression that he was behind the
wheel of a stolen truck.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Due to a complaint filed in Florida, is plaintiff legally
purchased and financed his twenty twenty four GMC pickup truck
through the dealership. However, there was a clerical mistake and
they put the wrong information into the system and then
it read back as hey, this thing is stolen. Wow. Unbelievable.
(04:17):
We go lastly to my favorite story of the morning.
We go to a Florida man. This guy is in
the Florida Hall of Fame. Let me just tell you
that right now. His name is Jeff Waters. He walked
into a bank in Jacksonville and he very nonchalantly tried
to cash the largest check in United States history.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Like a physically large check. No, no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
The amount of dollars that he tried to cash this
check for was the largest check in US history.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Good mister Waters.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Now, just so you know, the teller was automatically suspicious
because not a lot of people try to cash a
check for three hundred and sixty eight billion dollars. Almost
nobody Brittany tries to cash a check for three hundred
(05:17):
and sixty eight million dollars, as you might imagine, It's
very rare, you know, for someone to try to do that,
But Jeffrey Waters did. Anyway, the teller was very suspicious.
They started asking questions. Jeff told the honest story in
the world. This is where Jeff told him told the teller, Yes,
I bought this check a blank check for one hundred dollars,
(05:40):
and the homeless guy named Tito that I bought it
from said that I could cash it for any amount
that I want, So three hundred and sixty eight billion
dollars please, I will take that in nonsequential bills if
you will. No, he didn't, Yeah, no, He wrote it
to the Bank of Idaho for three hundred and sixty
eight billion dollars for cash before bringing it into the bank. Now, uh,
(06:04):
Jeffrey doesn't look like he has three hundred and sixty
eight dollars to his name, let alone three hundred and
sixty eight billion. He was arrested for attempting to cash
a bogus check. But this is what he said. The
bank wouldn't give me the money they owed me. He said,
this check is supposed to be good for any amount,
so that's what I wrote it for. Blame Tito, not me,
(06:25):
is what he said. I'm innocent. He said, I'm as
innocent as a schoolgirl. Okay, now, yeah, weird choice of right.
And it wasn't really that the money wasn't going to
go to good use though, Brittany, Jeffrey had a plan,
get a plan for the three hundred Okay, this is
what he was gonna do. He was gonna build an
eighty million square foot underwater Italian restaurant. Oo. It would
(06:48):
be think about how great this would be. Jeffrey says
that with a three hundred and sixty eight billion dollars
he was going to build an eighty million square foot
Italian restaurant underwater that had sit thirty million people at
the same time, while everybody was watching sharks swim.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Le's this man down. He is not well, No, let
him go.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
He's got the greatest idea in the world that is
a giant restaurant.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
You know how many people can eat their? Thirty million
people all at once. You're gonna be a bad service.
I'll tell you what, right? How many? Right?
Speaker 2 (07:22):
You got thirty million cuts? The logistics just don't work out.
You've got thirty million customers. Who's gonna serve all these people?
And where are they all coming from? Number one? Number two?
Where are they gonna stay? Once they're here, They're gonna
go to Jeffrey's eighty million square foot underwater restaurant. Them
(07:43):
in thirty million other people are gonna be eating there
and then and then what you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (07:49):
The traffic is gonna be insane. How are you gonna
get them all down there?
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Right?
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Yeah? Comedy?
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Where are they gonna stay? Oh, Jeffrey, I don't think
you thought this through.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
You know.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
If there sounds like there's a few, not a lot.
I mean, let's just Jeffrey's got a very good start,
you know what I mean. Let's just go there.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
You know what I mean? Three hundred and sixty eight.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Billion dollars in secure cash. He's got the eighty million
square foot underwater Italian restaurant you would think with eighty
million square feet you could diversify. You could have almost
any food genre you want underneath that one.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Roof, Nah, just pasta just Italian.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
He's gonna put olive garden on a business in one
fell swoop Man or Jeffrey, you could have done this,
cash the check for three hundred and sixty eight billion
dollars and then do nothing for the rest of your life.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Because you don't have to.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
But he's doing it.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
For the people, then I appreciate that underwater right different
unique exactly.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Nobody else is doing it.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
No one else is doing it. I mean maybe for
good reason, but no one else is doing it. Well,
we'll do this again every morning. It's seven thirty nine.

Speaker 2 (09:23):

never get to eat at this restaurant.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
I'm bummed, right
