Speaker 1 (00:02):
Oh right, it's time on iHeartRadio for us to chase
down Florida man and or Florida woman.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
We do it every day in this.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
It's called WTF that stands for What the Flory New.
And we go first to a Florida man. Now, yeah,
this Florida man. He's been busted in a seven million
dollar publisher's clearing house scam.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
And he says, I was just helping friends.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Now, I don't know how one scams publisher's clearing house.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah, and what did he do?

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Honestly, I didn't even think that publisher's clearing house was
even a thing. I remember there used to be TV
commercials back in the day publisher's clearing House, and they
would send you stuff in the mail, and you could
order magazines, but you didn't have to purchase in order
to win. You could always send the thing back in
and then somebody would show up at your house with
a big check for millions of dollars.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
That was always the dream.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
But I always thought it was like a scam, just
a way to get people to buy magazines, you know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yeah, so it's still existent.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
I guess it's still a thing, but a guy is Florida.
Man found it and he's facing multiple felony charges after
being implicated in a very elaborate scam that defrauded elderly
people out of more than seven million dollars. Oh man,
his name is Leroy Vassal. He's twenty five years old
of water Hill. Yeah, a resident in charge with four
counts of felony grand theft for crimes committed between October

(01:31):
twenty three and February twenty twenty four. Now, according to
these records, Leroy engaged in fraudulent publishers clearing house scams
aimed at defrauding old people. Apparently he was a player
in this scheme in which victims were deceived into believing
that they had won the publisher's clearing house. Victims were

(01:51):
instructed to send large sums of money under the guise
of paying taxes and administrative fees before getting their so
called winnings, and then Leroy would just take off with
the money. He scammed people out of a total of
two hundred and eighty thousand.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Dollars plus straight to jail, right to jail. Unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Yeah, he had all kinds of checks, but uh yeah,
that was the scam that Leroy was. It's a it's
a twist on the Nigerian prince thing where the Nigerian
prince would send you an email and tell you I
have millions and millions of dollars but it's locked up
in the United States and I'm a political prisoner.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I need your help.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
All I need is a one thousand dollars administrative fee
to get my money out and you can have half
of it. And you're like, that sounds great, Nigerian Prince,
I'll do that. Let me send you one thousand dollars forthwith,
and then it's.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Just a scam. You got Klarna, no good times. I
got ripped off on that britty? Can I do how
many Nigerian princes got me on that? One? Too many?
All right?

Speaker 1 (02:48):
If I had a nickel for every Nigerian prince that
scam me out of one thousand dollars, let me just
tell you, I wouldn't be here talking to you about it.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
But yes, LeRoi was arrested for ripping off old people.
I don't know who is going to get arrested for
ripping off somebody, but somebody is selling a home in
Saint Petersburg, Florida, Brittany, it is a single family residence.
It has over seven thousand square feet. As a matter

(03:18):
of fact, it's got almost an eight thousand square foot
lot that this house is on alone. Yeah, so it's
got a big lot. It seems to be. You know,
it's got a beautiful pool out back. The only problem
is Brittany, that this house that they are selling, by
the way, for two hundred and fifty nine thousand dollars.
They are selling this house Saint Petersburg, Florida, a single

(03:41):
family home, beautiful pool in the back. Wouldn't you like
to live in Saint Pete in a home for two
hundred and fifty nine thousand dollars?

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Uh? Yeah, that's a steal, Yeah it is. But unfortunately
this house is burnt to a crisp.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
It is like almost nothing left to this home. The
roof is burnt. The garage charge let me get outside.
They left the tesla in the garage right, Yeah, exactly
what happened?

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Why is it all burnt to a crisp? It says that, hey,
the pool is still good. That's what it says. The
pool is still good.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
According to this they say that I guess it won't.
I guess this house was somehow a victim of Hurricane Helene.
So before the storm it was it was worth a
lot more than what it is now.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Man.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Yeah, yeah, So apparently it's a fire did catch in
this house due to Helene, and that could have been Brittany,
You're right, it could have been a from an EV battery.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
I bet it was. Wow.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
But yeah, but if you got two hundred and fifty
nine grand and you want a burnt to a crisp
house with a really nice pool, well then I got
the house for you in Saint Pete. Time for me
to go get those the cash out of my walls.
There you go, that's right, cash out of my walls.
Speaking about somebody who I can guarantee you has some

(05:03):
cash in their walls. Brittany, is this next Florida man
who is from Punta Gorda, making him a what.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
A local acting local?

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yep, a Florida man from Punta Gorda. He's accused of
stealing over thirty thousand dollars worth of marijuana.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
From a dispensary.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Oh there, oh, very carefully, probably by brute force, Brittany,
but a punt of Gordon Man was arrested after stealing
about thirty grand worth of weed another merchandise from a dispensary.
Tyrese Jackson is twenty three facing multiple charges. According to this,
he broke into a Kira Leaf on King's Highway and

(05:41):
Port Charlotte and deputies responded to the reports of a burglary.
When they arrived, they say it was obvious that somebody
used the tool to pry the door open. Brittany, and
they looked at the footage and that's when they saw
old Tyree Jackson there. He was seen exiting a vehicle
wearing dark clothing. He was wearing a mask. Now, he
pried the back door open and he put a piece

(06:03):
of cardboard back there to prevent it from closing. Then
he drove away, and then he came back ten minutes later,
went inside. Once inside, he collected all kinds of merchandise,
made multiple trips back and forth to his car before
driving away.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Multiple trips back and forth to the car.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Little pre rolls here, a couple bags here, Look at that,
I got some vapes here.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Look at that of marijuana. Oh yeah, four year's supply. Now.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
According to this, detectives were able to identify the brand
of boots that he was wearing insecurity footage, and according
to this the brand is primarily sold at Walmart. They
went to loss Prevention they were able to identify him
through video footage from Walmart.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Woweah, unreal.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
By the way, he also stole eight hundred dollars worth
of stuff from that Walmart.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Did this crime was solved so easily by the way.
Oh yeah, comparison Shubrit.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
That is fantastic video the car he still had the
crowbar on him when they caught up to him.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Oh, he couldn't have made it easier. He might as
well have walked into the jail himself. Well, that was
fun and dumb and dumb, and those are the.
