Today we talk 'Hate Following', how arts & crafts will help reduce your belly fat and... idk, some other stuff. Truthfully, I recorded this like 5 hours ago and just now realized I hadn't posted it yet.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
You know what, I hate a lot just right off
the there's some hate right off the top. No, no, no, no,
this is like a positive thing. It just maybe you're
like this too. Where oh god, I just put my
headphones on, blowing my ear out the Uh So the
Emmys were last night. I didn't know they were last night,
and I woke up this morning to the FX show

(00:31):
Showgun won all of them. I mean they were nominated,
they said eighteen times, which is ridiculous. Did they win
eighteen unbelievable. I remember when they were doing like the
promo for Showgun, you know, like they put it out
coming soon, and I was like that looks awesome, you know,
and then it came out and on Hulu. I like

(00:53):
hit it. I was like put in my list, and
I forgot about it until last night or this morning
whenever I you know, saw the Emmy thing and I
was like, oh man, so it was really good. But
now everyone's gonna think I'm watching it because it won
a bunch of Emmys. When I was on it from
the beginning, I just you know, didn't watch It's not

(01:15):
I'm not a bandwagon fan of the show. I just
never you know, followed the team, that's all. I don't
watch the games, but I love the team and I've
loved him since before they were good. Now I just
looked like a Bandwagon fan. It's Monday, Welcome to the
Girly Show. It's the the sixteenth of September. Two am
I yelling? I feel like I'm yelling at you. I'm excited.
It's a great weekend. Man. Me and my little guy

(01:38):
fishing on Friday when it was raining, just got blasted
in the face. Uh. It stings when you're on the
boat and you're driving to your spot on the lake
and just in the face all time you look over
and he was he'd brought a hooded like fishing shirt
and had his hood pulled all the way over his
face like he's green Man, which, by the way, that's
another FX show, green Man. It's a sunny And then yeah, man, Saturday,

(02:03):
we went down to Silver Dollar City. We hung out
with friends. Sunday we played a little golf after on
church service in the morning, like me and my five
year olds do. We were browing it out and I
told him I was like, look, man, and I'm your
dad obviously, and I'm never going to be like you're bro.
Like your buddy. I'm always going to be your dad first,

(02:25):
but when we're fishing and golfing, we're bros. I just
want you to know, like we're my fishing bro, you're
my golfing bro. And that kid pulled the first bass
out before I even had a chance to. He's pulling
out bass off of a flat somewhere there on table rock.
And then golf he's hitting every single ball where he
wants to. I was so proud of five years old.
And he's got football game tonight, which I'm nervous about.

(02:49):
I'm nervous about his football game tonight because I don't
want him to be disappointed in himself even if he
does well. And I'll tell you why. Maybe you've experienced
this with your kids before. So my son and I'm
not bragging. Let's just be real about his team. He
is by far and away the best player on his team,

(03:11):
not the fastest one, but certainly understands the game enough,
focuses enough. He's big, he's physical, and even though it's
flag football like, he knows what he's doing. And last week,
in the midst of getting just blown out by another
team that knew what they were doing. He scored the
only touchdown of the game. It was a sixty nine

(03:32):
yard touchdown run. And again, he's not the fastest, but
something about you got an athlete, they're faster with the
ball in their hands. They're faster in the game than
they are. Like if you're just like, let's race, you know.
And he was proud, he was excited about it. I
was excited too. It was awesome. First football game ever
takes off for sixty nine yard. He's got a game tonight,

(03:54):
and I'm afraid that if he doesn't score another touchdown.
You know, he plays well, he's gonna be fine. But
if he doesn't score, is he going to be disappointed
in himself? You know? I feel like managing this game
is a lot easier or harder. Excuse me, it's a
lot harder to manage this one than it was the
first one. But I'll take it. Fishing, golfing, footballing, that's

(04:19):
a weekend. Did not pay attention to anything political. I
heard some stuff happened in Florida. That's what happens, man.
I think when you make your headquarters in Florida. I'm
just gonna say it. We hated on Florida pretty hard
last week. It's a crazy lawless town. I mean there's laws,
for sure, but there's so many people breaking them in

(04:43):
unbelievable ways. Yeah, stuff like that happens. Like you don't
hear the crazy things from any other state across the
entire nation. Why has it all happened in Florida. I
don't know, but it is. I heard some stuff happen
down there. Luckily. She didn't even say luckily, just I'm

(05:03):
glad nothing happened. You see, regardless of who I vote
for or who you vote for, can we all agree
that one of the tenets of democracy in America is
making sure we at least let people get to the

(05:23):
day to vote alive. You know, say what you want,
lie about what you want on the way there. But
so long as they are both alive and on the ballot,
we could vote for them or not vote for them,
and then those, by the way votes count. That's an
important part too. But like they both got to be

(05:44):
alive when time comes, albeit historically not so dead, people
have been elected before. Not saying I'm hoping for that
at all, I'm just saying it's happened before. Very rarely
do I get to use my history of age talking
about pop music and FX shows I missed. So here
we are today. I haven't even pulled up the prep yet.

(06:07):
Today we're going to talk a little bit about hate following.
Maybe that ties into what we were just talking about. Also,
celestial event coming tomorrow night, why taking up arts and
crafts could be real good for you. And then I
don't know a couple of little things here and there.
I don't know if we're going to get to them.
I know I left something off last week. I remember,

(06:29):
I don't remember what it was exactly. Oh no, it
was Amazon. We didn't talk about the Amazon thing, but
how they're offering like bare bottom food you know now
via like you can order it on Amazon and it's
not like, you know, a restaurant, it's it's a grocery shopping,
but it's bare bottom. And it was just like, oh,
here's another corporation trying to take advantage of you know, subsidies,

(06:50):
food stamps and that kind of thing. That's the story
from last week. I had a whole bit about it,
and I just didn't do it. I forgot it was
there today though, Hate following what it is? Why you
may be doing it without even realizing you're doing it,
and why you should? You know, stop if you follow
people and the first part of this is not what

(07:11):
I was expecting when I heard the term hate following.
But if you follow people with just perfect photos or
videos or this is the one I was expecting. People
who post offensive political posts and you continue to follow them,
you may be doing what experts call hate following. And
by experts, I don't mean like social media experts, I

(07:32):
mean behavioral psychologists, literal, legitimate, science based experts. You may
not even know you're doing it. I knew, And I
don't follow a lot of people with perfect photos because
there's nothing about a perfect photo that appeals to me
to go, oh, man, I want to see more of this.
I don't care. I want mistakes though, that's for sure.

(07:53):
And so yeah, people who post offensive political posts, like
I follow that all the time. I see it all
the time. I hate it. I don't unfollow them, though,
mostly because I don't get on very much, and when
it's up there, I'm like, oh, yeah, okay, it's all
still the same cool, and then I piece out. Anyways,
if you now hearing the description of hate following, realize

(08:14):
that you are. You should stop, according to these behavioral psychologists,
because it can create in yourself, not other people, just
in you, stress, anxiety, low self esteem, even depression. Just
unfollow and feel better. It's a good mono for life.
Look to the sky tomorrow night. And this is just

(08:36):
in a local like Springfield thing. This is North America,
South America, I think parts of Africa, even Europe. We're
going to get a harvest supermoon with a partial lunar eclipse.
And you don't have to stay up that late to
do it either. It's only I think nine to forty
five our time. Tomorrow night, you're going to get a
partial lunar eclipse, about eight to ten percent of the

(08:56):
Moon is going to be blocked out by the Earth,
the Sun behind us, and then harvest supermoon, which I
don't know what that means. I don't know what they hit.
Any of them mean. I've looked at the moon and
they're like, oh, it's a blood moon, and I'm just
looks like the moon to me. I think harvest moon
means instead of being made out of cheese, it's corn
and wheat. So if you're gluten intolerant, the heads up,

(09:17):
it's the harvest moon. It's not for you. Wait until
we're back to cheese, and then the lactose intolerant can
suffer as well. Tomorrow Night Enjoy turns out that taking
up arts and crafts can make you happier if you
want to take back your cortisol levels, which, by the way, boy,
I don't know what's going on with mine. I really
think I should. I don't feel stressed, but boy, like

(09:41):
everything about being stressed is happening to me body wise.
You know, I still feel like I'm yelling at you.
I'm sorry, I'm projecting. It's a fan going behind me here.
I'm trying to talk over it, I think. Anyways, if
you want to take back your cortisol levels, or at
least back them down a little bit and have bet
are all overall health and well being, take up arts

(10:02):
and crafts as a hobby. Doctor Helen Keyes. It's a
cognitive psychologist. See only the expert stuff, the science based
stuff today, even when it comes to knitting. Doctor Helen
Keys is a cognitive psychologist and head of the School
of Psychology and Sports Science at Angela Ruskin University. That

(10:22):
can't be real Angelia Anglia Teddy Ruskin University release a
new study. Engaging with arts and crafts, according to her,
is not only accessible, but it's also affordable. And if
you want to get into knitting, say versus like playing golf,
you know, it doesn't take very much to get started knitting,

(10:44):
but may give you the same satisfaction as learning something new,
playing a sport, that kind of thing that costs hundreds,
if not thousands of dollars. To get into knitting, drawing,
you require very few tools can be engaging and creatively
fulfilling activity. So there you go. You're looking for something,
go back to the basics. Draw knit. Poison Control Center

(11:09):
this is just a PSA, which stands for Public service announcement.
By the way, I know it's pretty inside baseball. Poison
Control Center has been getting a twenty percent uptick in
calls about kids shooting energy drinks. Now I shouldn't say shooting.
I read that word in a different sentence and it's
stuck in my head. It said that the calls are

(11:31):
shooting up, not shooting like. They're not taking, you know,
monsters and just injecting them into themselves, up twenty percent
year over year after taking about two thy eight hundred
calls last year for kids between six and twelve, those
have nearly doubled that age group specifically, and then I
think six to eighteen it's up twenty percent. So yeah,

(11:52):
stop giving kids energy drinks. They're terrible for you anyways,
especially if you're the little kids. And finally, Netflix in
talks to air live episodes of Hot Ones, which I
would love. You know, I'm gonna hit this and put
this in my list and then forget about it if
they start doing it. You know the Hot One show
where it's the Hot Chicken Wings and they get increasingly

(12:12):
hotter and these stars have to answer. It's great because
it takes these stars off of this perfect platform right
and allows you to see a little bit about who
they are without them having to just like, you know,
they can't act. You can't act when your face is
on fire. The one problem I've always had with the

(12:33):
show is I feel very much so like the reason
they continue to get guests is because they give the
guests final creative input and edit, which means that the
guest does something they don't like, they can tell the
show take that out. Like let's say Beyonce went on
there and snotted her face. Right, hot sauce gets into
her Hey, she didn't handle it very well and then

(12:55):
snot just all over her face. That would be a
huge deal for Hot one, right, you get a ton
of views. But I think they give the artists final atit.
Beyonce's teams, like, you know, the whole snot part no no, no,
no no no, you can't put that on and they don't. Anyways,
it'd be great to see a live show of it
because you can't edit one of those, and I mean

(13:16):
they could, they probably will, but still the idea of it,
I like it a lot. Fun fact, when I went
vegan for about eighteen months back, what was this four
or five five years ago, one of the weird side
effects besides like feeling great and losing a ton of weight,
which happened, I also got to anemia, which is not great,

(13:38):
like missing iron, you know that kind of thing. I
also lost a lot of taste, specifically spice taste. So
when I discovered this, it turned into like, well, how
hot can we go? And I ended up ordering at
one point the hottest sauce on Hot one and it

(13:59):
was no big deal at all. I'm not saying it
wasn't hot. I'm just saying in my you know, veganed
out mouth estate. Yeah, no, biggie, it's fine. Weird right, somehow,
some way, this is going to be a show today.
If you're here for it later this afternoon, cool, If not,

(14:19):
it's fine. It's not gonna be that great. And you
were here for the good one anyways, so I appreciate
that love that you were here, And yeah, I got
to tone it down a little bit, not yell at
you so much when we talk to you tomorrow.
