Speaker 1 (00:00):
Russell Wilson, Derrick Henry, the forty nine ers wide receivers
that have top two that are no longer on the field.
We'll talk to Joey as we do every Tuesday at
eleven o'clock eleven thirty five Factor Fiction your chance to
win one thousand dollars from the Emerald Queen Casino. How
we doing? By the way, do we get the update?
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Let me pull it up right now.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Anyway we're first?
Speaker 3 (00:24):
No, it hasn't been updated. No, I don't think we're first.
I think we are either second or third. We can't
be third, Chuck in booker on first at twenty two
and twelve. We were fifteen and fourteen last week and
we had three wins. So yeah, we're probably second.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Or third fifteen fourteen. I'll just better quick. I just
keep picking an army maybe three times a week. That
seems to work pretty well. Lamar Jackson, Derek Henry went
wild last night for the Ravens. We'll talk about that.
The Krack can play their third game of a three
game a five game homestand tonight at Climate Pledgerinas actually
today a weird star time. We'll talk about that, and
(00:57):
then we'll talk we have a laundry list for jury
to talk about the NFL at large issues that are
going on right now. Are the Lions the best team
in the NFC? I'm going to ask her that her
opinion on that. I think the answer is yes, they're
the best teams I've seen, and I haven't seen the Chiefs.
NBA season starts.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Chris should be a great one. Anthony Edwards did you
see what he was saying?
Speaker 1 (01:20):
M hm?
Speaker 3 (01:21):
With Justin Jefferson, they had their There was a moment
with the NBA season coming tonight starting tonight Lakers and Timberwolves.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
They had a Anthony Edwards for the Timberwolves Justin Jefferson
for the Vikings.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Had video because I'm sure you remember a whole discussion
about wide receivers playing in the or not wide receivers
but NBA players joint playing in the NFL and NFL
players playing in NBA. So Justin Jefferson was basically asking
Anthony Edwards who do you think you know who's like
to go up against? He was like Derek Hemry straight
up yeah. And Justin Jefferson's like, bro, what that's.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
What He's huge? Like, you don't want that smoke.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
He said, no, no, no, I'm not gonna like crack him,
but I'm gonna bring him down. I'm thinking and Edwards like,
you are very confident, but there is no way on
this earth you are slowing down or tackling Derek Henry.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
And you see how fast he was running last night.
Oh my goodness. One of the things of being on
a five and a half six hour flight is you
could watch two NFL games back to back, and I
was able to watch one, and that's the first start
to finish game. I watched a long time and Derek
Henry looked like he was twenty years old flying down
the sidelines there for another one hundred and fifty yard game.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
So it was a shoot that they were doing. Do
you remember when Kevin Garnett and Randy Moss did their
photo shoot. I want to say in the late nineties,
I don't. Well, they were recreating that with Justin Jefferson,
Minnesota thing exactly. So that's where that conversation happened.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Minnesota's in the Los Angeles in the well. I was
going to call it Staples Center for Lebron James and
Ronnie James and their debut. You know, who else is
going to be there? Ken Griffy Senior and Ken Griffy Junior.
They Ken Griffy was on a podcast yesterday, Junior saying, yeah,
just like my dad and I played for the Mariners
back in the early nineties. We want to go see
(03:03):
lebron James and Bronnie James played tonight Game one for
the Lakers as they play together. Eleven thirty, tell them
We're do text line four nine, four to five one.
We'll reback your text to be part of the show
as we do every day. And Ian Forrones will join
us at eleven forty five leading a new show twelve
to three. Frostburg Corps like Choose Chill, brings you your headlines.
DK Metcalf has a sprain medial collateral ligament in his knee.
(03:24):
It's a Grade one strain. Coach Mike McDonald said yesterday
the Cleveland Clinic defines grade one MCL strains is having
a recovery time of one to three weeks. McDonald said
this about Metcalf for Sunday's game against Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yeah, that's there was no communication on that.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
I didn't even know.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
I'll check my text again. At six thirty five am
this morning because I was up. Yeah, okay, check your
text you'll see all the ones that we were gonna
put got you. Anyway, he said that Metcalf is going
to try everything humanly possible to play this week. He said,
you know Dk, We know DK. But here's what you
(04:05):
got to think about and what the Seahawks math is
on this. They have this game against Buffalo, they have
the Rams game next week at home, and then they
have their bye week. So would it behooved the Seahawks
to rest him for two games? Could they afford to,
whether they could afford to, whether the behove them, or two
different questions. But it's possible that he could take three
(04:26):
weeks off and miss two games and then come back
for November thirteenth at San Francisco, which is the game
after the bye week. I'm not saying that's where they're
headed for Metcalf, but that's got to be part of
their thinking. If they think he's going to miss one week,
he may miss two games to take advantage of the
buy and get three full weeks of rest. On that
MCL but as McDonald said, we all know DK Metcalf
(04:48):
and he's only missed one game in his six years career.
That was last year. He missed one game in the
middle of the season. Last year, Jake Bobo would move
from the fourth wide receiver to third wide receiver behind
Tyler Lockett and Jsen if Metcalf can't play. McDonald said
he expected quarterback Greek Woolan to practice and quote some
capacity Wednesday. Coach isn't as optimistic as Trey Brown will
(05:11):
practice at all this week. Both quarterbacks missed the Atlanta
game with the sprained ankles. As I mentioned, Omark Jackson
and the Ravens just went wild last night in Tampa.
Jackson threw as many touchdown passes as he had incompletions
last night. Five Derrick Henry one hundred eighty nine yards rushing,
third game of more one hundred and fifty this year.
He has almost nine hundred yards rushing through seven games.
(05:31):
That was a pretty good pick up for the Ravens.
I saw Jerry Jones answering questions on why Dallas didn't
pick him up. Bonoma rally from ten oh down early
in Tampa. Bay beat the Buccaneers forty one to thirty one,
and it wasn't even that close. Ravens are five and
two Buccaneers. Bad night for injuries for them. They lost
Mike Evans is going to be a Hall of Fame
wide receiver playing on a bat hamstring, landed on the
(05:53):
hamstring in the end zone, trying to catch a touchdown
pass one off his hands, out of the game. And
then at the very end, I mean, that game seemed
like it was dragging on forever, and it's sure doing
too long for Chris Godwin dislocated ankle, air cast off
the field, Gonna have surgery out for the year. Shouldn't
even have been in the game. The Buccaneers were chasing
the game that was long before lost. Godwin lost for
(06:14):
the season, So the Bucks are down their two top
top wide receivers. They're four and three, tight for the
Falcons for first in the NFC South. Cardinals beat the
Chargers in the game no one cared about her watch
seventeen to fifteen field goal in the final buzzer. Cardinals
are now sneakily already tied with the forty nine Ers
three and four second place in the NFC West, one
game behind your Seattle Seahawks. Speaking of wide receiver issues,
(06:36):
more concern for Seattle forty nine ers already at without
Christian McCaffrey, of course, still on injury reserve. San Francisco
has lost Brandon d Ayuk for the season, torn acl and
mcl and the loss of the Chiefs on Sunday. Deebo
Samuel was in a hospital yesterday with form of pneumonia. Reportedly,
it's not reportedly, that's what the coach, Kyle Shanahan said.
(07:00):
All kinds of stuff going on in San Francisco while
they're three and four Lions. Jamison Williams facing a two
game suspecsion for violating the NFL's policy and performance enhancing substances.
The ESPN report last night said, Cracking hosts Colorado tonight,
game three of the five game homes Dan, you'll hear
all that game here five thirty puck drop of TV
start time for national television, five point thirty puck drop
(07:21):
with Mike Benton's pregame show at five o'clock here on
ninety three point three KJRFM. You'r home with the Kraken
College football this weekend. You're home with the Huskies. Has
Washington at the thirteenth ranked Indiana Saturday. India is gonna
be without a starting quarterback, so perhaps that can have
helped the Huskies. Indiana is one of the stories in
college football right now. ESPN Game Day is going to
be there in Bloomington, Indiana on Saturday, nine am kickoff,
(07:44):
five am pregame show with Dave Softy Muller and the
Gang of the Husky Hanks. Right here on ninety three
point three KJRFM, Chris is Washington State Cougar is now
six and one after beating Hawaii. They are going to
San Diego State Saturday, seven to thirty kickoff on CBS
Sports Network, Cable TV. I mentioned the NBA season begins
tonight with the Lakers hosting Minnesota. Griffies will be there
(08:06):
to watch the Lebronses play, and the Knicks are playing
the Celtics. I think it's the other National TV showcase game.
A day after the WNBA crown to first time champion
the New York Liberty, the players decide to opt out
of their collective Bardney agreement with the league. I why
to do that because they're trying to strike while the
iron's hot. WNBA has never been more popular. They've never
(08:29):
had more corporate interest, They've never had more media attention,
and they want to redo their deal and get better
revenue share. If they don't strike a new agreement by
the end of the twenty twenty five season, which is
this time next year, there could be a lockout for
strike workstoppage in the WNBA. But I don't blame the
players one bit. They've had suppress salaries and women's basketball
(08:52):
and pro basketball in this country for decades, and now
they're trying to take advantage of the opportunities that they
all have enjoyed here in the last year or so.
So I thought you'd be talking on and on about
the NBA, But what do you want to know? Man?
Who's your NBA champion?
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Man, that's a tough one.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
I think I'd probably go with the Celtics repeating really yeah,
I think they I think they're coming back even better.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Really, you're not getting any younger.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
I mean what, Jason Tatum is only like twenty five.
They are young teams. Still, their core is young.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
I will say that.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Is he's it'd be great to have him out there.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
But I'm thinking the guys that have been around a while.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
That's the veteran leadership.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Though.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
You need a couple of those guys. They're superstars, young dudes.
They will as long as they're healthy. Albeit they should
be right there at the end of the day in
the Eastern Conference Finals taking on the New York Knicks.
That's who the top teams. Two teams I see in
the Eastern Conference is those teams when it comes down
to it, bowing out for a chance to win the
(09:59):
NBA the NBA Championship. So I take those two in
the East and the West. Ah Man, this is where
it gets real, tough man. I probably pick probably go
Minnesota this year. Yeah, I think Minnesota is gonna get
it done. I like the move that they made. They
traded away their center Karl Anthony Towns.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
I like that move.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
I think this is now Ant's team.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Brunson to the Minnesota right, No, Brunson is still there.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Who went to Minnesota, Dante DiVincenzo. They gave up all.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
They gave up a bunch of pieces that are well
match sellers, and I think it's gonna help with what
the Timberwolves are looking to do, and that's play.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Using Ant.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Askay, you're the guy, and then we have these pieces
around you to help and supplement everything you're doing. Not
that Cap wasn't, but there was a discussion whose team
is it, and they weren't trying to do that, so
they said, this is Ant's team. We're gonna give you
the keys like you drive the ship. He's a player
that plays both sides of the ball. He can defend
you and he can score on you. So this is
(10:59):
going to be a huge opportunity for him to take
that next step and showcase off his skills set on
the defensive end as well as what he did last
year on the offensive end. I think he's just gonna
get better and better. So I think it's gonna be
dare I say the Timberwolves and Celtics when it's all said.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
And done, Boston Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
That it should be? This should be another fun NBA season.
I'm excited to see what happens tonight. Lakers are probably
gonna get smoked up against the Timberwolves, but I think
Lebron's gonna do what he does, drop thirty and ten ten,
which is crazy at the year at age fifty, so
salute to him. But yeah, it should be a fun
opening night. I'm really I'm really excited to see the
Knicks and the Celtics play. I think that's gonna be
(11:39):
a really fun matchup tonight for sure. First of eighty two,
the long NBA season.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Fortnite four to five, tell him we do tex sign.
Who do you think is gonna be in the NBA Finals?
Is it going to be? I don't care versus I
don't know. It may some of you until the Sonics
come back.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Well twenty seven.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
I saw that. I saw yeah. I saw a poll
this morning on our Twitter x ninety three point three
k JR feeds asking if that they are excited that
this may be the last opening day without the Sonics.
I don't think it's going to be. They've got a
couple more because the way the expansion is, they're waiting.
If in case you're wondering, why haven't we heard about
(12:15):
the expansion process in the NBA. What's going on is
Warner Brothers Discovery, who owns TNT, is trying to retain
the rights they lost in the new media rights deals
went to Amazon Instead. Warner Brothers Discovery sued the NBA
and said, wait a minute, we match that offer, and
you ignored it. They think that the NBA is railroading
this new deal to Amazon and so Warner Brothers Discovery
(12:37):
is held up the agreement from being ratified because of
a lawsuit that, on top of the fact that the
owners want to get some owners don't want to get
the pie of a new media rights deal split thirty
two ways with two expansion teams announced. They'd rather keep
it with thirty teams, if that makes sense. So they
(12:57):
want a bigger share of the media rights pie before
they end up dividing up into thirty two different ways
by adding two expansion teams. So that has stalled the
expansion talk. It's not going to It's not that it's
not going to happen. There's now another process with this
Warner Brothers Discovery lawsuit that has delayed the NBA and
its border governors. Moving on to the issue of expansion.
(13:19):
Seattle and Las Vegas remain from everybody inside the league.
Seattle and Las Vegas remain the favorites to be the
two expansion cities into the new Western Conference, and that
will probably begin twenty twenty seven twenty eight season, maybe
twenty six twenty seven, that was the hope October twenty
six they would be Of twenty twenty six, they would
(13:40):
be tipping off the climate Pledgerina the Sonics. But this
whole thing of when the media rights deals finally are done,
so they know how much money they have coming in
annually and the owners can decide how they want to
divide the pie. Could push it back to twenty seven
twenty eight, So that's where that stands four nine four
or five one, and tell them we do text on. Maybe
you don't ever want to hear about the NBA until
you hear Sonics are backing as an expansion team. There
(14:02):
are some of you out there that justifiably think that way.
We'll read back your text at eleven thirty. At eleven
thirty five Factor Fiction, Christopher Kidd has to pick today
your chance to win one thousand dollars from the Emeral
Queen Casino. And again we'll have Jorry Epstein as we
do every Tuesday thanks to Zeke's Pizza Zekespizza dot com
at eleven o'clock to talk all things NBA up. Next,
let's talk about the Seahawks right side of the offensive line,
(14:24):
because it's a shambles right now. They're not quite sure
what they're going to have, which I was trying to
pin Mike McDonald down on Mike Jirell's future after his
impressive opening and debut in Atlanta, and McDonald just as well.
We got a lot of things going on. We'll talk
about what the Seahawks have going on the right side
of their line next on ninety three point three KJRFM.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Live from the R and R Foundation Specialists Broadcast Studio.

hours until Mike Benton has the pregame show at five
o'clock for five thirty puck drop tonight, the Cracking at
home against the Colorado Avalanche, trying to build on their
best start ever after six games, four wins, two losses.
(16:12):
Seahawks offensive line, well, it wouldn't be a day a
sun has come up if we didn't talk about the
Seahawks offensive line. It wasn't great in Atlanta. It was
good enough, and the Falcons have the worst pass rush
in the league and that helped. But Gino Smith really
made them look better than they probably were. Smith again
faced pressure on quite a few of his twenty eight
dropbacks the two touchdown passes, Smith definitely avoided a rusher
(16:36):
at the beginning of the play, stepped up in the
pocket calmly through touchdown passes. He's gotten very good at that.
We talked to Hugh Millen and he's mentioned a couple
times how the pocket movement and poison the pocket is
perhaps his greatest trade, and he was Millen to mine.
Mike Direll's become my favorite story on the Seahawks now.
And I've told you my background with the University of Finley.
(16:57):
He from the Division two University of Finley. I had
a great set to down interview with him after the
game in the locker room in Atlanta on Sunday. He
to me earned another start, but there's a lot more
to it than that. Yesterday Mike McDonald gave what it
measured and incremental as it was the most positive words
(17:17):
yet about Abe Lucas since January. Here's what he said
about Abe Lucas. Here's what he said about George fat
and here's what he said when he was asked whether
Mike Durell has earned a second start at right tackle
this weekend against the Bills.
Speaker 5 (17:27):
I mean, it's more time to let you know on that.
Speaker 6 (17:30):
There is a situation where he could come back and
start practicing this week, but we haven't finalized that yet,
but it's looking good on the front with Abe.
Speaker 5 (17:39):
When he does come back, you know we're not.
Speaker 6 (17:41):
Gonna there is a there is a process to get
him ready to play. So even even if he did
start to practice, I think you're looking at a good
chunk at a time of practice time to get him
ready to go play a game.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
So what's that process. Well, he's on lucas on the
Physically Enable to Perform list, has been since started the
regular season. You have to miss a minimum four games.
He's missed six. He could come back at any time.
But when he comes back, there's a twenty one day
practice window that pup players go into. You don't have
to be on it all for twenty one days, but
that's the maximum number days you can be on it
until you either have to one be added to the
(18:13):
active roster or two put on injured reserve for the
rest of the year, or three released as a wave
injured guy. But so that's the window they're playing with. Now,
what's twenty one days from Wednesday. Well, it happens to
be past the bye week, and it would be the
Wednesday practice before the at San Francisco game in the
middle of November. So it would make sense that if
(18:36):
he can come back to practice in some form this week,
and they do designate him as return to practice off pup,
the twenty one day clock beginning tomorrow would get him
to the bye week, when they would then make the
decision on whether he's ready to play or not. So
that gives them two more games at least without him,
even if he returns to practice this week. That seems
to be what McDonald's inferring. There, so no Lucas for
(18:58):
in the next two games more at least. So what's
that mean, Well, George Fance on injured reserve. Remember he
lasted only thirteen plays of the opener and then he
injured his knee and he hasn't played since. This is
what Mike McDonald said about him.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
George not sure right now, not sure about this week
right now.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
He's been really shifty on fan every time we ask him.
Yesterday he was the most definitive you can call it
that on Lucas. But he's still shifty on fan Forsyth.
He says Stone forsythe with the hand issue that cost
him to miss the game and allowed Mike Girell to
have his debut in Atlanta. Well, he still sounds like
he's in the same boat as Fant, Maybe not this week,
(19:39):
so that leaves Darrell unless Fant comes back from injured reserve.
This is what McDonald said when asked if Jarrell has
earned himself a second start Sunday against Buffalo.
Speaker 6 (19:49):
Well, God, played really hard and there's a couple of
plays where he just he lost the reps and that's
going to happen. But guy fought and played really hard
and technique and there's always there's always things, you know,
the first rep. But like the game wasn't too big
for him. I'm just I'm just really pleased with his effort, frankly,
and he's finish on a per play basis, and I
(20:12):
think he's earned the opportunity to, you know, if it
shakes out right tackle, We've got some moving parts going
on there right now. But if he you know, if
he was the guy again this week, you know, we'd
be be really confident in him.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
Sorry detailed what those moving parts were. If Fans able
to come ock off of injured reserve. Then we get
into discussion Chris and I had yesterday, does George Fan
deserve to be the starting right tackle right off of
injured reserve this week or does Mike Girell deserve to start?
I said, I think Girell deserves to start even if
Fan does come back. But that seems to be what
the Seahawks are waiting on to see if Fan's going
(20:46):
to come back. So I pressed McDonald on that, see
if I can find the quote that he had on that.
So I pressed him on it and said, well, has
by his play has he what are these moving parts?
And he said said, well, we're working through that right now.
Michael Durell obviously if he had to go, we'd be
excited about him working through George Fance situation. Same thing
(21:07):
with Stone and then with Abe whether or not we
bring him back on Wednesday or not bring him back
to practice that is, to start the twenty one day clock.
He won't be ready to play this week. Meeting Lucas.
So I think it's really Stone, Forsyth, George and Michael
the candidates to start at right tackle this week against
the Buffalo bills five and two, the leaders of the
AFC East, and then his right guard, because Christian Haines
(21:32):
came in in Atlanta and at first drive he was in,
he was the guy who teamed with Mike Durrell and
opened that freeway sized hole for Kenneth Walker to run
through for a twenty yard touchdown early in the second quarter.
It gave the Seahawks a ten nothing lead, and so
I asked him, are they going to continue to alternate
because as good as I, as well as I thought,
(21:56):
Hayes played at right guard, he only played nineteen percent
of the snaps, starting played eighty one percent. Excuse me,
that's yeah. I'm not mistaken. That was a breakdown for
the I might even be a breakdown for the season.
I mean, I got off a plane at midnight last night.
I think it's a for the season. I wrote the
story for the News Tribune Newstribute dot Com. For the season,
Bradford has played eighty one percent of the snaps, Hayes
(22:17):
has played nineteen and Says said they're going to continue
the rotation, and McDonald said, I thought both guys took
a step in their game against Atlanta. I think that
competition right now is what's best for both of them
and probably what's best for the team. I'd imagine the
rotation still continuing at this point, so you've got the
whole right side of the line still up in the air.
(22:40):
He mentioned yesterday that Connor Williams at center is now
really starting to come into a more solidifying role. He's
starting to learn the entire offensive line. He's getting confident
in his need that was repaired in December, and he
thinks Connor Williams has really made a jump here in
the last couple of weeks. I talked to Williams last week.
Remember we played it here on the show, and Williams
wasn't at all happy with his play up to that point.
(23:03):
No one's been talking about Lake and Thomas in the
last couple of weeks, and Charles Cross I noticed a
couple of times did get pushed into Geno Smith. Smith
Cris is just I think he's been a wizard at
completing the passes for the yards and touchdowns he's had
with the production he hasn't.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Yeh Procket presence. I think that's exactly what Hugh was
referencing as to how well he's played this season, he's like,
outside of the throwing, outside of all everything else that
Geno's doing well, it's his procket presence. And he gave
Geno an a plus because he is having to deal
with some of the issues you just went through. Charles Cross,
You're supposed to be your number one left tackle sometimes
(23:43):
is finding himself being shoved and pushed back into the pocket,
and Geno's having to maneuver and find different angles to
throw the football and he's doing that. And then also
I write tackle there has just been issues there. You
had your third string guy in there, he gets banged up.
Now you go to your fourth string. He plays, okay.
Mike McDonald says, yeah, there's a possibility he could start,
(24:04):
George Fan could come off. Ir the whole thing there.
Right guard, it's going into week eight. That still is
not a for sure spot where you have a guy
that's going to play the remainder of the season. And
then left guard there's really no backup there. You just
gonna have to deal with it. And then the center position.
Connor Williams is coming off that eight cl injury. He's
still not up to quote unquote his best performance, his
(24:27):
best games yet he is still looking to find that.
And it's just an offensive line that has had issues
throughout the entire season. And yet the Seahawks are where
they are at four and three, with a chance to
go to five and three if they can beat Buffalo.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
So this team is in the mix. But I'm telling you, when.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
We started talking about the offensive line and what Ryan
Grubb wanted to do with the offense back in early
whatever it was when we first started the show, the
offensive line was going to tell it all. And again,
I know I was wrong. I thought the offensive line
would be better. I didn't foresee some of the issues
that they've had. It just hasn't been a good start
for this offensive line. But you get Abe Lucas back,
(25:07):
maybe that really changes the whole dynamic of this offensive line.
But it can't just be a one man thing, you're
it has to be a team and a unit that
plays good football throughout the game, and they just haven't
had that consistency at all.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
I haven't figured out McDonald. Yeah, you know, we used
to know when Pete Carroll said, well he tried hard,
but that meant that he just was terrible. I haven't
figured out McDonald. Because McDonald really values the effort. And
when he said that about Mike Girell, I couldn't tell
if it was euphemism that he didn't play well. He
mentioned the very first snap versu rep of the game.
(25:39):
He thought it was maybe his worst one. You know
what Jerrell told me after the game on Sunday, I'll
never be worse than I am right now. I thought,
there's a really good quote. He said, this was my
first NFL game on the road. I've never done this before.
I was playing against Walsh University in North Campon, Ohio
this time last year. That's where he was doing. He
(26:00):
played in from a fifteen hundred be was playing in
front of seventy thousand on Sunday. He said, I'll never
be worse than I was today, And that means to
him he's only going up. His growth is learning. He's
going to have already learned from the game film he
just watched in the last thirty six hours. I thought
that was a really interesting point of self awareness of him,
knowing that he didn't play at all what he's gonna
end up being as an NFL player fourtnite four to
(26:22):
five on and tell him or do text line. Who
would you like to start at right tackle for the Seahawks?
Greg Dell, Yeah, good luck with that. You think there's
a revolving door at the edge right now, George Fan,
if he comes back, would you start him at right tackle?
Off injured reserve this week? If he doesn't come back,
it's a fader complete. It'll be Mike Darrell unless stone
forsythe can come back somehow. Even if stone Forsyth is healthy,
(26:45):
who do you start at right tackle? Forsyth or Durell?
I think that's a layup. Anyway, If Fan comes back,
who do you start at right tackle? Durell? Stone forsythe
fotnite four to five one and tell him we do
text line. We'll read that back at eleven thirty up. Next,
you're coaching the Seahawks mentioned two players on his defense
that he thinks are going to be All Pro could
be All Pro player, not Pro Bowl All Pro players.
(27:08):
Will tell you who he said and why next on
ninety three point three KJRFEM welcome back, Greg Bell of
the newstributing and Christopher Kayd with you on ninety three
point three kJ r F M at eleven o'clock thanks
to Zeke's Pizza and zekespizza dot com. That's with twees
(27:29):
ks Pizza. Jory Epstein, of the senior NFL writer for
y'allho Sports, will join us talk about all things NFL,
and I'm going to ask her something that just came
up here in the last couple of minutes. So during
the break, Dana Rassini of The Athletic is reporting that
the Rams have called multiple teams about trading former Super
Bowl MVP Cooper Cup. You know where he's from, coming
(27:50):
on the East Side, He's from Yakama. Rams have indicated,
according to Diana Rassini formally worked in Seattle now with
the Athletic, the Rams of Indie catered a willingness to
take some of his twenty fourth salary, it's this season's
remaining salary, and are seeking a second round pick for
Cooper Cup. It always fascinates me that these receivers Vante Adams,
(28:14):
Amari Cooper, guys that are at the top of the
league at one time, only have commanded third round conditional picks.
Cooper Cup would be worth a second round pick when healthy.
Absolutely Rams, you would think, right, yeah, Rams are two
and four. They place Thursday night at home against Minnesota.
And if they are serious about shopping Cooper Cup. If
(28:36):
that's true, then they are packing it up and yeah
going home for the season, are they not.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
That's sush for Matthew Stafford, who just signed a I'm
retiring what wait what? Although if when Pooka is healthy,
that's you know, that's true and that maybe that could
be their thinking. But but even then, I would not
to just.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Get a second round pick for him. No, no way,
paper Cup is Hey.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
There's a there's a reason why he might be the goat. Okay,
so that's interesting.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Out of the athletic in Los Angeles, the Rams have
called multiple teams about trading Super Bowl former Super Bowl
MVP's crazy yack com on Native you deserve better Coop. Yeah, well,
I've talked to his father many times. They have Western
Washington times p l U.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
The Seahawks landed. Oh my god, that man. Gino wouldn't
know what to do.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
I'm not sure the Rams were traded within their own division,
so they wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
They wouldn't, but Gino would probably his head would explode.
He wouldn't know.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
They would have to pass every play and in the
run game. Oh, Cooper Cup would be he blocks everybody.
He doesn't care. Sorry, Greg, go ahead again. I can't
see the Rams trading him within the question twice.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
No way, they wouldn't do such a thing.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
Trade him, Trade him this week and the next week
play him.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
That's punting on the season, all right.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
Yeah that the fact they're looking at him means that
they're punting in the season. Why would they punt the
two games out of the division with having not yet
played the Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
I do not know they're not done.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
I mean most people say, unless they.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Really believe Pugakua, he's not even healthy.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
I just nobody's running away with the NFC West, right,
NOWSCO San Francisco is still the best team. And they're
three and.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Four, and they just lost Brendan and and they.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
Haven't had Christian McCaffrey. And if McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel
come back, they're still the best team.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
In the Actually, yeah, that's yeah, we'll see. It's it's
been injury littered for the Niners and Seahawks.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
I will say that. And the two years ago when
the Niners didn't make the playoffs, the same thing. It
wasn't so much that the Niners were terrible. They did.
They lost all their players, and you could argue that
they didn't win. It was three years ago, and then
two years ago they didn't go to the Super Bowl
because they lost all their quarterbacks in the Nfcicitle game. Yesterday,
we were talking to Mike McDonald about his run defense,
(30:52):
and he was and the big plays that the defense
finally came up with three turnovers in the second half
in Atlanta, three times as many as they had in
the previous five games. They might have one turn overproduced
in the previous five games, none since the one, only
one since the opener, and then they have three and
one half against Atlanta. And of course the big one
was boy mafy stripsack of cousins returned for a touchdown
by Derek Hall, thirty six yard touchdown that changed the game.
(31:15):
Two score game and the Seahawks are off and running
the rest of the second half. So we asked them
about boy Mafe and Derek Hall. Here's what Mike McDonald.
Speaker 6 (31:23):
Said, Well, I think both players could be all pro
type football players.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
The sky's limit for both.
Speaker 6 (31:29):
It's about the process with those guys, when they've put
the work in which they have and had the offseasons
that they've had, and the focus on a day to
day basis and continually finding things that they can they
can attack.
Speaker 5 (31:40):
In their game.
Speaker 6 (31:41):
You can kind of go through each guy and tell
them those things. But they've they want to learn, they
want to be great.
Speaker 5 (31:46):
They work their tails off.
Speaker 6 (31:47):
And then on game day they just they play really
freaking hard and they run to the ball and the
rest of the stuff, you know, is our job as
coaches to get fixed.
Speaker 5 (31:54):
But those skys a limit with those two guys.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
That's the first time in how many months have I
been covering it out, seven eight months, i've heard him
use the word all pro on any player.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
But what does that say about you Chennan Wolfson's future.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Not saying that he's discrediting anything that he's done, but.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Well, think of it. He is barely coached in Chennon
wolfsu No.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
That's fair, and he hasn't played. He's not hurt, so
you know that. In my head, I'm thinking, so does
this mean I think as Moore just out of sight,
out of mind, just in the moment.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
Yeah, And he's coaching boy Mafey and Derek Hall every day.
Derek Hall is his project. Remember Derek Hall barely played
last year twenty eight percent of defensive played. Greg I guess, okay, yeah,
Pete Carroll and Clint Hurt didn't play him. And so
at the in training kit you could remember we talked
about this in the summer. I was watching every day.
(32:47):
I was like, man, they're giving Derek Hall some run here.
And it was when Wosa was still out and it
was apparent that Mike McDonald was going to feature Derek Hall.
And he kept saying two hundred and sixty pounds that
a guy can run like this, This Derek Hall can
be something for my defense. He is like, if there
is one pet project that is he is all Mike McDonald,
(33:08):
it's Derek Hall right now. Because Carol and his staff
didn't use it at all. Four tell him we do
text line your reaction to that the words all pro
and potential all pro for boy, Mafe and Derek Hall.
Big edge play. The edge rushers are the most important players,
or let me say this, they are the generators of
(33:28):
Mike McDonald's defense. He asked them to do the most.
He wants them to make the biggest plays. He sets
up their schemes and hides them and disguises them and
sends them on blitzes and puts them in coverage, and
there they are the guys. And if he has studs
out there, then his defense is on its way to
what it wants to be. Eleven o'clock. Jorry Epstein's coming
up to talk about the NFL at large. I'm gonna
(33:50):
ask her about the Cooper Cup. The athletic report that
the Rams are shopping Cooper Cup in the trade. If
he's healthy, he's still one of the best, the biggest,
if he's healthy, and that could be why the Rams
are looking to get something for someone that they haven't
had on the field quite a bit. Eleven thirty year
chance to be part of the show and tell them
we'll do text line four nine four to five one.
I've gotten a lot of good questions on there. Somebody
asked me why I'm always liking the fringe players like Bliss,
(34:13):
like Jirell. I'll answer that and another thirty five factor
fiction thousand dollars. A chance to win from the Emerald
Queen Casino coming up the Benning capital of the Northwest,
as it does every day at this time. Remember, it's
a cracking ticket Tuesday. If you hear Everett Fitch, Hugh
and the sounder for the Kracking, be the tenth caller
to two O six to eight six ninety five ninety
five to win two tickets to the Crack and play
the Anheim Ducks on the number twenty seventh. All that
(34:34):
much more coming up on ninety three point three KJRFM
