year senior in the first half the true freshman de

Mont Williams in the second half.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
I'll ask you what he thought of that and what it.

The Seahawks are off yesterday and lost ground on the
NFC West. Christian McCaffrey made his season debut for the

(00:52):
forty nine ers. Brock perty through for three hundred and
fifty three yards, mainly to Jwan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall
forty nine is nearly the Buccaneers in total yards, yet
needed a last second field go to win at Tampa
Bay twenty three to twenty.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Moody miss three field goals before he hit that one
at the end to win.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Seahawks played the Niners in Santa Clara on Sunday. The
Cardinals won again Kyler Murray a passing touchdown and two
rushing scores. Arizona smash the free falling Jets thirty one six.
The Rams host the Dolphins tonight five point fifteen here
on ninety three point three KJRFM and the Monny Night game.
So in the NFC West right now, the Cardinals are
six and four heading into their buy in first place.
The forty nine Ers are five and four, hosting Seattle

(01:30):
on Sunday. The Rams four and four entering tonight's game
against the Dolphins and the Seahawks and last at four
and five. They still have two games to play against
the Cardinals, the first ones in two weeks. Rams play
at New England. By the way, this coming weekend, Seahawks
have practice today. I'll be out there to see if
dk Metcalf is on the field. He hasn't been there
three weeks since he sprained his MCL on his knee

(01:51):
in Atlanta making the catch on the sideline and banging
his left knee on the turf. Abe Lucas is eligible
to go on to the active roster. That decision has
to be made by when that's the end of his
twenty one day window from practicing off the pup list.
The expectation is Abe Lucas will make his season debuts
the starting right tackle Sunday at San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Yesterday, in the NFL, the Chiefs Valley from down.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Fourteen three at home in Denver to win sixteen fourteen
by blocking a thirty five year old field goal thirty
five yard field goal try by the Broncos in the
final play. Kansas City's nine to Oher's league's only a
beaten team, Saints rose up to bat down the Falcons
twenty seventeen at home, first win an eight game for
New Orleans. Chris got that one on factor fiction. Cardinals

(02:32):
got blown out at home again, this time by the Eagles,
thirty four to six. Eagles was seven to two atop
the NFC East Dallas is three and six and Chris's
let's not talk about the Cowboys anymore in this show,
correct Russell Wilson TD past to Mike william former Jet
with three minutes left. Then Wilson drew the Commanders off
sides with a hard count on fourth and one with
a minute left. Steelers win again twenty eight, twenty seven

(02:54):
at Washington Pittsburgh seven and two on top of the
AFC North. They host Baltimore this weekend and in a
first place game. Wilson now three to zero, six touchdowns,
only one interception, and his three starts as the Steelers'
leader after that calf injury from the summer, Bill's beat
the Coltston Indianapolis thirty to twenty and improved to eight
and two. College football Washington Huskies fell beyond twenty eight

(03:17):
to nothing in the first half in the white out
of Penn State lost thirty five six, and they.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Really didn't feel that close.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
We're gonna talk to Hugh milling about Fish playing Jetfish
to head coach playing Will Rodgers in the first half
and true freshman Demon Williams in the second half at
quarterback at Penn State, first extended play of the season
for Williams. Huskies are five and five. They host Ucla
Friday night, six pm kickoff here on ninety three point
three KFM with the Husky Hanks Tailgates Show from the
stadium at two pm Friday.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Huskies really have to win this.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Game would be Gum Bowl eligible because then they go
at Oregon to finish their regular season. If they don't
win Friday night against Ucla, it may not be a
thirty extra days of practice for Jetfish trying to build
his program into a bowl game. Washington State blew out
Utah State forty two to fourteen in point I'm going
to prove at eight and one, Cougar's running game led
the way this time wshoes at New Mexico this coming weekend.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Cougar's a ranked nineteenth in the newest AP.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Pole byu rallied and got a defensive holding call to
extend their last drive and then kicked a field goal
in the final seconds to win at Utah byused nine
to zero on track for a Big twelve title game
against Colorado if everything states the same AP top twenty
five Oregons one, Ohio State's two, Texas three, penn State four,
Indiana five.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
That's right four the top five in the country from
the Big Ten.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Washington Huski's basketball team lost at Nevada Saturday night. They
play at SPU at home on Wednesday. Washington State Cougar's
men's basketball team beat Missouri Valley Conference favored Bradley Friday
night and pull when they play tonight. The Cougs do
at home against Idaho on the hardwood, and the Sounders
found out who their opponent's going to be in the
Western Conference semifinals November twenty third in Los Angeles. LAFC

(04:55):
beat Vancouver in game three of the first round series
for them, So that's at LAFC for a spot in
the Western Conference Final. That'll be November twenty third for
the semifinal and then ched. Holmgren, former Gonzaga basketball star,
will be out two to three months with a broken
hip for the Oklahoma City thunder.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Our.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Thanks to Hugh Mellen for joining us on a Monday
as if he has nothing else to do, and don't
think every show hits you on a Monday.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Thanks you good to be with you. Yeah, now that's
an update. That was an extended update. I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Yeah, hey, listen, that's that's the gold standard right there.
Tried to cover all of this, that's top of the
podium right there.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
I apologized, No, it's.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
What do you make in the quarterback situation Jedfish had
on Penn State. I mean, was it because it was
just a lost cause game at that point or what
does it mean going forward? And I think we've talked
on this show with you about why they're doing with
the Demon Williams. But you can explain that too well.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
I think that why they're doing it is is Jedfish
recruited Demon Williams at Arizona. Guy's a live wire, extraordinary
quickness and extraordinary speed. I think that's his vision of
who he wants and what he wants out of his quarterback.
Now the debate is, really, you know, the debate isn't okay,

(06:15):
what is demand Williams going to be as a sophomore, junior,
maybe senior and all that. The debate is what's better
for Washington this year twenty twenty four with Will Rogers
experience versus a true freshman and really this his own
preferences have just seeped into all of his decisions. It's

(06:37):
been a redheaded stepchild treatment of Will Rogers basically from
the jump, pulling him out at critical times all year,
and it's and just kind of kind of dumping on him.
You know, I'll never forget in the Apple Cup in
a situation that was early similar to Washington's game against

(06:58):
Oregon a year ago in Husky Stadium, when when the
Huskies got the ball back with Pennix and going towards
the lake, needing a touchdown. First play the drive, he
has this long pass up to Jalen Pole, comes down
with it, and you.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Go, oh man, we're in business.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
And and and and then a few plays later you
hit the fade route to a dunes that you beat
the Ducks. Now fast forward to this year, in a
similar situation, first play of the drive, just like the
poll completion, he hits Jiles Jackson on this gorgeous over
the shoulder I mean, just walked it out there to
a forty five yard completion. The next play he's on

(07:37):
the bench and they've got demand Williams in the game
for the three or four plays whatever it was, I mean,
And you know that's just one example among many, and
so you.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Know he got what he wanted.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
But if you're going to play this guy, you have
got to be significantly better in your protection of any
quarterback regardless because Demon Williams was in the game. Had
seventeen dropbacks against Penn State Pro Football Focus and the

(08:11):
gang that feeds the NFL with their staff portal twelve pressures.
That's seventy one percent of the time. Now I went
and watched the tape. Four of those pressures or yeah,
the Husky offensive lineman just didn't block well enough. I'll
just put it simple, But eight of them. It had
nothing to do with bigger or smaller or better blockers

(08:34):
or worse blockers. It had to do with mental breakdowns
and no plan and there were free runners. There was
eight times where there was at least one free running
Penn State blitzer coming up the field and no outlets.
Four of those eight the Huskies had enough blockers, either

(08:55):
running backs didn't pick up or linemen didn't slide the
correct way.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
They there was not an overload.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Of the other four times where there was one more
blitzer than there was a blocker. You got to have
an outlet, and you're looking at the receivers and they're
just running down the field. Willie, No, like a seven
on seven. No, No, there's no play, no place to
go with the football. And there's somebody right on the quarterback.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
And to put that.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Into perspective, Drew Aller, the Penn State quarterback, had thirty
one dropbacks. He had two plays where there was a
free runner, but it was from such depth that you
can't it's not even a free runners. It was well

(09:42):
after Aler had already gotten back, thrown a long completion,
no worries. And then the one time that it was quick,
alar just kind of calmly, just he hit the little
hot guy, little pop to the tight end right in
front of him. Completion, no problem. There was never in
thirty one dropbacks, there was never a play where Penn

(10:03):
State didn't have a good plan to block or throw
the hot And they're in year number one with offensive
coordinator Andy Kotelniki, year one and so if you don't
find that alarming that as a Husky fan, that Penn

(10:24):
State can go thirty one for thirty one and then
you put a freshman quarterback in there and half the
time you don't have a plan.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
And what was really more startling, this.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Is a series after series, you got a chance to
come back, talk about it, get together, Okay, let's get
a plan, and then you go back out. Penn State
comes up and they weren't disguising blitz. They were just
let's just put in more overload, just stand there and
just tell them we're coming. And there was just it
was like there was no plan. So I thought it

(10:54):
was a really brutal adjustment or I should say lack
their adjustment the line of scrimmage to protect the quarterback.
And regardless, you know, you know I want to play
DeMont Williams. You're gonna get him killed if you If
you don't, you don't prepare, like blitz is part of football.
You know, in the Pro Bowl, Pro Bowl, they used

(11:14):
to say, well, you can't blitz, there's only four guys. Okay,
Washington was coaching as if they were at the Pro
Bowl and the blitz was not allowed.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
It was brutal.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
It was a it was a really alarmingly brutal response
to to a blitz situation with with as athletic quarterback
as you could ever want, and you still don't have
a plan.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
We can see what he's doing, right, He's trying to
rerecruit Demon Williams to stay and try to keep him
getting poached by somebody in nil and transfer portal after
the season, So he's trying to give him a lot
of playing time out of practice time, presumably to prepare
for the games. What does the rest of a locker
room see that, as you didn't have this situation with
nil and transfer portal when you played and but you

(12:01):
had two quarterbacks system and used two quarterbacks that you
didn't like. And what's real Rogers thinking and what is
the locker room thinking about? Can they see the forest
from the trees and realize why Fish is playing a
true freshman over the guy from the sec.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Well, there was there was click problems at the beginning.
You had your Washington faction holdover faction, you had the
Arizona faction that was coming up. You had you know,
a third faction that were new guys from neither Arizona
nor you know, holdovers, and so so unity was was
a challenge. And will Rogers, in some people's estimation, has

(12:39):
been at or even exceeding their leadership of Michael Pennix,
you know, he's a veteran guy, really just took to
it in the summer. And one thing I know about
offensive line, and I'm not saying this about this current
version of the Husky offensive line. But every offensive line
ever been around, they grouse, they get together and and

(13:01):
you know, they live in playing in an aminimity. Uh
if if a microphone is in front of the face,
they're smart enough to notice say the right things. But
you get them out there having beers. And even the
Dallas Cowboys when I was with them, the I mean
the best line in football, Dave grouse, every cloud lion grouses.
I got a feeling that that maybe some of those

(13:24):
veteran guys, you know that might be thinking, hey, are
you playing for now or are you playing for the future.
And I don't know that I'm not in their heads,
but I've I've seen those type of of concerns manifest uh.
And and it happens with offense line. They're bright, they
play uh as a unity uh Uh, there's a togetherness

(13:48):
that they need and there's just a certain makeup of
them at any rate. I'm not I wouldn't die on
a on a beach to uh to assert that or
affirm that, because I don't have enough evidence. So I
kind of I wanna, you know, just kind of I'm
adding that almost parenthetic, right, But getting back to the
matter at hand, here's what we know and forget Okay,

(14:10):
you want to say it's a new era in football,
let's erase everything we knew from nineteen hundred to twenty
twenty three and only focus on twenty twenty four. There
was one hundred and thirty teams in Division one? Who
else is doing this trying to, you know, playing a
guy to say well with O, sensibly to convince him
to not leave. Well, I'll tell you what, there's a

(14:32):
little bit of a concern that's greater than zero that
you let this guy play. You let him flash show
people what he has. But then you have this type
of protection scheme where where seventeen dropbacks you put him
under duress, totally unblocked, with no answer A to half

(14:52):
the time you're liable to run him out of here
where he says, look, I'm gonna go where somebody has
a plan to protect me.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Who gives him the best chance to win?

Speaker 1 (15:02):
When you watch Husky football, which quarterback give him the
best chance to beat UCLA playing the most Friday night?

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Well, that's a loaded question.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
I think the best chance to win would have been
to infuse Will Rogers with all the confidence you could
possibly uh muster and make him feel like he's Tom
fricking Brady and from the from the get at every stage,
infuse him with with confidence. I mean, look at you think, Look,

(15:30):
look look at Russell Wilson. Is it fair to infer
right now that we know Seawan Peyton that wasn't his guy?
And Russell Wilson played as abysmally as a guy could play,
and now he's playing lights out, And so you know it,
even with somebody who's experiences Russell Wilson as an accomplished
you still need that affirmation, you know, like like all

(15:53):
hands on deck. And I played behind three Hall of
Fame quarterbacks and three other Pro Bowl guys, and and
I've seen every in between on how backups and and
so when I say red headed stepchild, I mean that
he's been treated like the redheaded step child from the jump.
So they have chipped away at his confidence. I would

(16:13):
bet every penny I have. He's angry and he's frustrated,
and you know, what happened the other night is just
a further manifestation of it. Look, and the funny thing
is I don't even think the guys that could, you know,
but he was good enough to go eight and four
with I didn't lose my mind and say ten and two.
But he was good enough to go eight and fourth.

(16:35):
He could have beat the Cougars, could have beat Rutgers.
So when you ask me what they should do, that
that there's a lot of layers to my thought. Now
moving forward, I think that you've got you know, Will
Rogers could have been a poor man's Jake Browning.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
And just remember this, your your opinion of.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Jake Browning has been shaped by what's happened with him
as the backup now with the Bengals.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
Exactly, he was tremendous for them.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Right, but you go back to what and of course
he's winning this quarterback in Pac twelve history, but a
lot of people were dumping on him.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
He wasn't even drafted. Blah blah blah.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
I'm not saying Will Rogers was Jake brown I'm saying
he could have had something like a poor man's Jake Browning.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
That would be my statement.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
But to get the best out of Will Rogers had
this had to be a full prong attack at just
you know, like just infusing him with that talent and
then you wait on demand Williams until he's a sophomore,
because right now, you got demon Williams has played one
hundred and forty six plays. In those one hundred and

(17:38):
forty six plays, there's been three completions down the field
where the ball traveled ten yards or more and only
one of those was between the numbers where you have
to process more. Meanwhile, Will Rogers has forty eight of those.
So you're losing a look, there's no question, and you're

(18:00):
picking up a live wire as an athlete.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
I mean, he is a fun little dude to watch
the ball.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
I mean, he's quick as hell and he's fast as hell,
and those are distinct.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Sometimes they're correlated and sometimes they're not. But that is obvious.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
The question is what are you losing as a passer,
And when teams start to uh, it's a game plan
for his quickness on how to approach you know, you
know he's got Kyler Murray type of elusiveness. But Kyler
Murray can throw the ball down the field and he
could in college too, So at any rate, I don't
even think I answered your question. You sure I want

(18:34):
to answer answer your question?

Speaker 2 (18:36):
You did?

Speaker 1 (18:36):
You pretty much said they haven't done right by Will
Rogers at least from a support and maximizing his opportunity
to succeed here in the year he's been here.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
And yeah, I mean, am I missing something?

Speaker 1 (18:47):
I don't think so, I mean that that would be
difficult at best to think that the coaching staff and
the team is behind you. If you, like you just
said some of your better plays of the season and
you're yanked right out of the game. Do you what
do you see going forward Friday night? You see it
as something of a job share. Do you see one guy?
You see Will Rogers or do you have any sense

(19:08):
on what he might do?

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Well?

Speaker 3 (19:10):
I Fish said on Saturday that he's likely to start
on Rogers, and it's probably going to be more of
the same. You know, he's probably gonna roll his eyes
if Will Rogers makes a mistake, and he's gonna be
eager to put Demon Williams in. So I expect we'll
see both and at some point, you know, they'll continue
the baton. I think that the Jetfish was just very

(19:31):
hasty in his eagerness to get Demon and and and
the thing is, please don't a year from now, if
if Demon Williams is on his way to winning a
Heisman Trophy, but there's a big difference in a true
freshman and year two and beyond. I'm only talking about
this year, and I don't even I'm not even saying
Will Rodgers is that great. But I know that they

(19:53):
have gotten a lot less out of Will Rodgers than
they could have.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
That I believe that.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
I one hundred percent believe and and and I bet
I'd bet every freaking panny that I have available that
that Will Rogers is pissed. And I think it has
the potential to have been divisive on that team. If
if Will Rogers as popular ass uh as reports are
are saying, I guarantee you there's guys picking sides one

(20:20):
hundred percent because I hear it.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
I don't hear it.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
You're not going to hear it in the media, but
you hear it when you go out and and you
have a picture of beer with these guys and so
in any rays, I don't know, not a big fan,
and how they've handled it, I think I don't think
it's been the most conducive to where the Huskies need
to be this year.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Hugh, thank you on no notice, appreciate it, you bet
humel and joining us saying they Huskies and Jed Fish
have not done right by Will Rodgers, certainly not instilling
confidence in him and yanking him at various points and
sometimes without rhyme or reason, and Hugh's mind for demand Williams,
And yeah, he's re recruit Williams to try to keep

(21:01):
him here for a sophomore season. But he was thinking,
is there's guys in that team that are playing for
this year, seniors Will Rogers transferring here from Mississippi State,
and they're not here for next year and the year after.
But that's the balancing act of college coach in twenty
twenty four plays right. He's trying to build a roster
and he's got fifty one new guys and got new
coaching staff, and he needs a quarterback for the future,

(21:21):
and he doesn't want someone to poach this guy and
brought him here from Arizona four nine, four to five
one to tell him, what do you text line your
opinion on how the Huskies are handling Will Rodgers and
demon Williams.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
We'll rate back your text and we cut up next.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
Also, we'll we'll give you a chance with one thousand
dollars from the Emerald Queen Casino in factor of Fiction,
the first Chance of the week. I just saw Ian
Fanass walk in. I'll talk to him at eleven forty
five heading into his show All That's coming up next
to ninety three point three KJRFM, Welcome back the Great

(21:57):
Best Show with Christopher Kid. Happy Veterans Day, the Veterans
Day of this ninety three point three KJFM. You know
what that means. The music means it's time to reback
your Texan to them. We're do text line four nine,
four or five one. When it's game time, it's Tully
time from the two to h six.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
Agree with what Hughes said, but as you mentioned, with
the current college football landscape, he has to recruit even
his guys for next season. Sucks for Will Rogers and others.
But this season was about building for the future.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
I understand that, But what about the seniors are on
this year's team, especially now in college football where the
seniors maybe this is the only year they're playing for Washington.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Don't you owe them something as well?

Speaker 1 (22:34):
I mean he's trying to play both sides of fence, obviously,
and it's not working for either side. They're won once
in the last month and a half, and the next season,
they're trying to It's a mess. It's something of a
factor of what college football is today. But I agree that, Yeah,
he's trying to do two things at once, and Needa
one's working.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
Marcus agrees with you.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
He says, you're right, Greg, have to keep the guys
you are building the program around, even though, as you mentioned,
some of those seniors that are leaving, you still got
to figure out for those sophomores and juniors that will
be returning how to keep them around as well. So
it's gonna be a tough job, but Jed's gonna have
to figure that out.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
That's why they're paying them the big bucks. Yeah, right,
and they are. Literally this is.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
From the two o six. I agree with you completely
about Will Rogers. Kidd has been screwed with all season long.
Two five three highlight the freshman, so you can sell
him some nil from the.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Nil money from the big donors. So yeah, that's an
interesting gangle here.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
You doesn't need to pay him dolls right to keep
them or he transfers, so they're gonna have to do that.
From the three excuse me, from the three six, Oh,
if you guys didn't see it, yesterday, Debo pushed the
forty nine ers long snipper by the neck.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
I did too. I wonder what that was all about.
I can only guess.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
Hey kicker, afterwards, Shanahan downplayed said he didn't see it.
Whatever has happened, we'll get it fixed by the time
we're on the plane and it'll be fine, and the
time we get home and all's fine when they win.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
That's basically what it was. I'm sure they made up
and dapped each other up afterwards.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
Greg from the four two five, I'm warning if you
can shed some war light on the type of knee
injury that Lucas has, and it seems very long time
for ane related injury and repair to be completed.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
I have tried.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
I asked McDonald what kind of surgery it was. I
asked him, was it even a microfracture surgery, which sometimes
takes longer than a year when they drill holes in
the knee and stimulate tartlage, And he wouldn't answer, didn't answer,
said he didn't know, didn't want to talk about it.
I asked Abe Lucas what kind of knee injury it was,
and he just said I had a knee surgery and
it takes a.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
While to come back from It's not an automatic and
that's all he said.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
So the actual exact nature has remained a mystery the
entire time this has been going on.

Speaker 4 (24:44):
From the four to two five. Thanks to everyone who
have served our country with honor, including my uncle Marvin Burt,
who flew jets over off carriers during the Korean War.
My grandfather, Captain George Burt, the United States Navy retired
who served from World War II until Vietnam. Thanks to
all the veterans out there.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
Awesome, appreciate that.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
Yes, thanks to all the veterans everywhere from the two
five to three. Hope the money was worth it. Welcome
to the Big ten, Go coops. I think I might
have texted that in two six, two three, Okay, just
wanted to make sure. But Greg, I think it's time
now to give listeners a chance to win some money
with fact or fiction. The first Chance of the Week
brought to you by the Emerald Queen Casa, the betting

(25:21):
capital in the Northwest.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
We're set to go.

Speaker 5 (25:24):
Glad you're with us, it's your shot, and he's starting
to look up a thousand bucks and the ten thousand
dollars grand prize. It's fact or Fiction, brought to you
by the Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest.
Make the beautiful new week you see sports booky your
home all football season long. Fact door Fiction is on

(25:44):
Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ R FM.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
Yeah, that's Chris's cue of music that it's back to
college football.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
You know where I live ninety one the last three weeks,
nine to one.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Last three weeks the show the Greg Best Showy Christopher
Kid leading the station in Factor fiction picks. So if
you want your best chance to win one thousand dollars,
this is an eleven thirty five your chance to do it.
I've got nine to one almost exclusively in college except
when I saw the bills ridiculous to keep giving only
four points to the Joey Flaccos in Indianapolis yesterday, So
I took that one this time. Washington State is at

(26:24):
New Mexico. It's a six thirty start Saturday night in Albuquerque.
Washington's a two touchdown favorite, but I'm ignoring that. I
couldn't get over the fact that the over under for
this game is seventy two and a half, now, I
get it. Washington State can score points. Their defense at
times has been suspect this year, though only only out

(26:45):
Utah State fourteen. New Mexico just beat San Diego State,
the same team that the Cougar's had a big problem
with in San Diego the week before before pointing out
at the end rillying from two down two touchdowns down.
The Lobos twenty one to sixteen win over New Mexico State,
or excuse me, New Mexico in San Diego this past weekend.

(27:05):
But other than that, seventeen to six, they lost to
Colorado State. But it's this stuff that has Vegas at
the line so big Wyoming forty nine to forty five.
The New Mexico lost to New Mexico beat Utah State
fifty forty five. New Mexico beat air Force fifty two
to thirty seven. Air Force can't score on anybody. They
scored three points on Army. They scored thirty seven on

(27:26):
New Mexico. But still, Chris, if you go into a
game knowing you have seventy two and a half seventy
two points to play with, give me the under and
seventy two and it's the largest number.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
On the College Football Board this week.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
It's the largest number I've seen in maybe all season
on college football.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
It may go to seventy thirty five, thirty four, twenty six,
I don't know, but seventy two.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
I'd be really nervous to having an over on seventy
two because that's a lot of points. Both teams have
to score. They have to function pretty highly for four quarters. Well,
there you have it, folks. Give me the under under
seventy two and a half the coops Washington State at
New Mexico. I think they'll win. I think they'll win handily.
I don't know if they're gonna score seventy three points.

(28:12):
I'm saying the combined score is gonna be seventy two
points or fewer. If you're agree, text fact to four nine,
four to five one. If you disagree, text fiction to
four nine four to five one. Remember this show leads
the way on the station. Who's in first place on
giving you facts? I'm nine and one in the last
three weeks giving you facts. My fact is Washington State
at New Mexico under seventy two and a half seventy

(28:34):
two or fewer points combined by both teams you've agreed,
text fact to four nine, four to five one. If
you disagree, text fiction to four nine, four or five one.
If you miss this opportunity in the next ten minutes
or so, you will have the next chance. At two
thirty five with Ian Furness and Jessman McIntyre. Were three
thirty five with Dave Softy Maller and Dick Fane hitting
into Monday night football Dolphins at Rams at five point
fifteen Here on KJR once again, Washington State the coops

(28:57):
eight and one. I say they win at New Mexico,
but they are not combining with New Mexico to school
more than seventy two points takes seventy two and a
half in the under at Washington State at New Mexico.
If you agree, text back to four nine four to
five one. If you agree, text fiction of four nine,
four or five one, and forness will join me next
to Chad Maybe about his number nine in the country
rank Suns team is still undefeated at Whitworth. He ends

(29:20):
up next on ninety three point three kJ RFM. A kid,
we are now graced with the presence of the great
Maybe Maple Valley. Ian Furness, your son's team's still rolling
nine and oh.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Now nine and no whitworth.

Speaker 6 (29:41):
Yeah yeah, before we get to that, uh, tip of
the cap to you and all other veterans on this
Veterans Day, I should thank you to all for their service.
I know that JBLM is a huge, huge part of
our community, and I know every year we see that
at the Seahawks during training camp. And I know we
have a lot of listeners from down there because I
see random area codes and You're like, they can right,

(30:02):
and you know, but it's you know, with texts and
so forth. We hear from folks all the time. But
to you and all the others out there, thanks for
your service and underappreciated but by some, but certainly appreciated
by many.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
And tipically capt you guys, thank you.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
You know that has changed so much since I was
in the military. Honestly, it was after I think the
Iraq and Afghanistan Wars that it became a bigger, I
won't say part of society, but our military is so
different than everyday life, and so many people have never
served in it or don't have connections to it that
the disconnect makes it seem foreign almost like that's those

(30:37):
people that are doing that, and then the Gulf Wars
seem to have we vitalized a spirit in the country
of appreciating the military. I don't know before, but I
didn't feel when I was for instance, airlines never let
us board first active duty, no or just little things,
discounts at stort. Not that I live for that, that's

(30:58):
not why you serve. But I was none of that
in the nineties when I.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Was in the army.

Speaker 6 (31:02):
Yeah, I think ninety one change everything, that's right, I
think I think ninety one. I think I think if
you want to look to some watershed moments in that
regard and appreciating our military more, I would I would
say ninety one for sure. I think to a certain extent,
twenty eleven or two thousand and one, I'm sorry. And
and what happened with the September eleventh, I think those
two things kind of jumped in. I think there was

(31:23):
a greater appreciation, especially after nine to eleven, for not
just those in the military, but also those who serve
and as first responders. Unfortunately, that on the one side
with the police has kind of gone away with many people,
and they don't appreciate with the work and the sacrifices
they put out there. But but yeah, for you and
and the first responders and others that serve our country
and protect us. Frankly, that's I'm not sure how we

(31:46):
could ever take that for granted when you look around
the rest of the world and the issues that people
have across the rest of the world and some of.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
The lesser countries.

Speaker 6 (31:55):
I would never ever take it for granted. My father
was a Navy officer as well, and so and then
serving the Navy Reserve for as long as I can remember.
After after you know, he'd be working at Como TV
on anchoring the news on a Friday, and he'd be
serving his h his every other weekend thing on Saturday Sunday.
So and then going away for a week in the summer. Yeah,

(32:15):
so absolutely great appreciation for you, thank you. Yeah, but yeah,
back what worth. Tim Booth has the number one in
the unofficial State of Washington college football ranking, which.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
Which gets people just all love.

Speaker 6 (32:29):
I love that. I love when Booth does that and
people like take it serious, like Western doesn't even have
a team.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
That's the point. That's the point, thank you, guys. That
would be the point. So we'reworth Lynfield for all the
marbles right.

Speaker 6 (32:42):
For Northwest Conference championship and automatic birth. There's a chance
the loser can get in still, but no one's thinking
about that going to this game.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
So yeah, I'm excited to be uh.

Speaker 6 (32:53):
I got the mixed emotions because yeah, yeah, yeah, Dick's
working for me on Friday, and I got Linda Cohne
to come to the Kraken on Saturday. I literally wrote
that into my contract. I said there's one day I
need off, period and a story because we didn't have
a senior day for for for his sports that was
worth a dam. We just didn't when he was a

(33:15):
senior because he was a COVID kid and so we
didn't have that.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
So you know, it's gonna be hard.

Speaker 6 (33:20):
A lot of emotions last game, potentially last game I
know I can see in person, because even if they
go to the playoffs, I can't make the next one
or two games for that. So yeah, ask me. Weird
enough For all the parents out there driving your kids around,
I tell people this all the time, driving your kids
to practice. It's late at night, it gets dark early,
you're sitting there. Why I am at this middle school
time doing it. Yeah, I'm at this middle school at

(33:42):
eight o'clock at night, and you will miss those days.
You will miss I miss. I miss that. I miss
Like when especially when's playing AU basketball, we would he
would be practicing in downtown Kent two or three nights
a week at seven thirty to nine and forty guys license.
I mean the time we got to spend in the

(34:02):
car back and forth twenty twenty five minutes each way.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
I cherish those days. I miss those days.

Speaker 6 (34:06):
So, yeah, when he sees stuff, think about that when
all the other stuff's going on in college sports, that
so many kids their career comes an end in middle
school or high school or those in college that are
playing just because they love to play. At some point
it comes to a screeching halt, and it's it's hard.
I know he's going through a lot of emotions this week.

(34:26):
So as kids across the country and all their sports
are going through right now, not everybody's out there for
the Nile.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
No, my son was definitely not a soccer play.

Speaker 6 (34:37):
No, you're out there sometimes you just want to play
and compete. Oh that's like Chris goes out there. Someday
he'll neednee replacement or something.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
But you know, I'm trying to be Tom Brady and
plays on forty.

Speaker 6 (34:47):
Still want to compete though, right, you still want to
have go on there?

Speaker 2 (34:49):
What it's about? Yeah? So yeah, anyway, what do you
have today? We'll check it.

Speaker 6 (34:54):
We're gonna so Friday, we had an unreal.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
Hour was this power plaque one o'clock hour.

Speaker 6 (35:02):
Hugh millon, Greg Cosell for an hour, just a think
tank of football. We took about ten to twelve minutes
of that. We're going to play that at twelve twenty
for those who missed it. Because it's a bye week,
there's no game to react to. But I want your
your you know your questions for you. We're gonna have
you on Live at one and we'll just do a
little hardcore with some questions. That kind of put a

(35:22):
ball on his conversation with Coast Sell, and I think
I'm going to ask him. Headlines are deceiving sometimes, but
this wasn't because this is what it was. Mike Varrell
on The Times wrote, this is the headline, Husky show.
They're not close to competing with the Big ten's best.
I'm going to ask you what it will take to
get to that point. I the Big Ten's a weird conference,

(35:43):
like it's it really. I mean, if you just look
over the last ten years, Michigan, Michigan, Michigan, Ohio State,
Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Penn State,
those are champions. You had Oregon in the mix this year.
Who does compete with them?

Speaker 2 (35:57):
Whoever has the money? The money talks and then to
talk about that a little bit too.

Speaker 6 (36:01):
So yeah, yeah, So anyway, that's coming up now, Mike
Sando at two o'clock.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
Look forward to that. Two thirty is a factor fiction.
Their chance to win a thousand dollars from the emeral
Quick Casino with Ian and Chessman comes up at two
thirty five. Thank you for the shout out to veterans
on Veterans Day. Happy Veterans Day to everybody out there
who's served in all facets in our country. We appreciate you.
And Farnessa's up next, Greg Bell, the News tributing Christopher Good.
Thank you for listening. We'll be back here tomorrow at

(36:26):
tend to noon. I'm on my way to Seahawks and
see if DK metcalf is practicing and talking to Mike
McDonald today that'll be in the News Tribune at the
news Tribune dot com. Ends up next on ninety three
point three KJRFM,
