Welcome back to the Greg Belt Show with Christopher Cady
from Seahawks Headquarters, Virginia Mason Athletics Center and Renton John Manley,
News of you and talkin state high school football championships
that begin tomorrow. He's up next right after these quick
headlines by Frostboed Quos, Light You, Jill DK Metcalf practice
fully yesterday. He's on track to play for the first
time in three week, four weeks after he sprained his
(01:56):
knee in Atlanta October twentieth. Abe Lucas practice yesterday. He
is now on the active roster. George Fann went to
IR it looks like Abe Lucas starting right Tack was
going to make his season debut on Sunday in Santa Clara.
Husky's men's basketball rally from eleven down to Seattle Pacific
at halftime in one with a fifteen to twenty four
second half to beat the Falcons by fifteen points. They're
(02:19):
now two and one play UMass Roll on Sunday. The
crack and are playing a night at home against Chicago's
six thirty pre game show with Mike Benton's seven o'clock
on puck Drop with ever Fitchew and Al Kaminski on
ninety three point three KJRFM. My colleague for the News Tribune.
I've been trying to get him on forever. I finally
got around to doing it right on the eve of
(02:40):
the state football playoffs.
Speaker 7 (02:42):
I've been waiting for the call ground Distribute colleague figured
out would get the invite at some point.
Speaker 8 (02:48):
So happy to be on to chat high school football.
Speaker 6 (02:51):
Yes, I'm tardy. In getting to you, I waited till
the state and when it's big before I gets all
the attention usually because that's the big schools. But maybe
the best team in the state John is in two
A and Tomwater as you know, they they host four
A pew all Up to begin the season and what
they beat him by fifty points? Is there a better
team than you've seen all year than what they got
(03:12):
going down at the t Birds and Tomwater?
Speaker 7 (03:15):
They might just be the best team in what you're right.
I kind of wish they would almost have like a
separate bracket, you know for a Somewater to go play
the four A state champion maybe after the state championship
games or something. But no, they've been fantastic, like you mentioned,
I mean, Pewallup is a state tournament team right now,
and they're one of the hottest teams in four A
right now. And to Water beat him by fifty, I
(03:36):
mean it was unbelievable. And then they get a win
over over four A East Lake as well. They didn't
allow a single point. They didn't concede a single point
in league play, and that included a win over WF
West and Shahalas which Is. That's a top five two
A program and they shut them out. So yeah, I
think tom Water is the favorite, but you also have
(03:58):
to look at Anna Chordis. I think those two are
probably on a collision course again to meet for a
rematch in the.
Speaker 8 (04:05):
Two A state championship. And you know that didn't go.
Speaker 6 (04:08):
Very well for sixty to thirty. Cordas won that right
last year.
Speaker 8 (04:11):
Yep, yep, sixty to thirty.
Speaker 7 (04:13):
The Beaner brothers, Brock and Brady Beaner up at Anaccordas.
They're fantastic a couple of Montana commits, and you know,
they just kind of marched up and down the field
and lit up that tom Water Secondary last year at
Husky Stadium. So it's not necessarily a cakewalk for Tomwater
(04:33):
in two eight.
Speaker 6 (04:35):
Well, let's go to the top of the four A
the biggest schools. We from the western side of the
state don't necessarily know much about Camus and why they're
the number one seed, and some there gets a lot
of attention down our way in Pierce County. Give us
a read on Camus and Sumner's chances to upend them
as the two seed beating the one.
Speaker 7 (04:54):
Yeah, and I think just First of all, this bracket
is wide open. I don't think it's just those two.
I think you could go down the list. I mean
it's eight, nine, ten deep, and even I mentioned they're
the fourteen seeds, they have a legitimate chance to win
that game against number three Chijajuana. I don't we didn't
pick them to win that game. That's a really good
(05:14):
Chijuana team. But the fact that it's even a conversation
shows you how deep this this bracket is. But Camas,
I think Camas is the favorite. They're the most complete
team just offense and defense. Quarterback Jake Davidson, he has
forty touchdowns twenty seven hundred yards this season, and then
they have a really good dn who's uh Luke Webb's
(05:34):
who's a Wazoo commit. So I think they're probably the favorite,
but I could see any number of teams winning it.
Speaker 8 (05:41):
You mentioned Sumner.
Speaker 7 (05:43):
They've really Keith Ross has one of the state's elite
defenses this year, and that's.
Speaker 8 (05:47):
Kind of what they hang their hat on. They've been a.
Speaker 7 (05:50):
Little bit inconsistent at times on offense, but they have
some good weapons. If they can they can move the
ball and put up points and win kind of these
low scoring games. I think that that's kind of Keith
Ross's vision for the state tournament. They have a good shot.
Actually we picked Sumner to win the whole thing, So
I really like what they're doing.
Speaker 8 (06:07):
But you just go down the list.
Speaker 7 (06:08):
I mean, it's number four, Kennedy Catholic, They're they're loaded again.
Speaker 8 (06:13):
Indiana Jones.
Speaker 7 (06:14):
Yes, that is his real name, by the way, that's
Pat Jones's son. He's the star running back there and
really equally good as a as a runner and a
pass catcher. Their quarterbacks have been there forever. The the
Coleman Brussa Brothers there, Gonzaga Prepp the five seed, they
run that triple option. They're top Giawan I had mentioned.
They've got a couple of really good linebackers, nasty defense,
(06:37):
and I haven't even got to two time defending state
champion Lake Stevens the sixth seed, and they've got the
best quarterback in the state and raign Gatoray Player of
the Year Colton Knatson. And you know they've they've lost
a few this year, but they could make a run absolutely,
And they took Sumner overtime on the road in Week one,
and so yeah, it's wide opening four A. Gonna be
(06:59):
really interesting to see how that shakes out.
Speaker 6 (07:01):
Lake, Stevens and Mead in the first round game in
four A in the Washington State Football Championships. We are
talking to John Manley, the best that does it in
the state of Washington, my colleague at the News Tribute,
the preps writer, and all over the state high school
football Championships. Here on ninety three point three KDJRFM.
Speaker 9 (07:18):
Let's go to the three A because I myself went
to Odai High School class of twenty ten. How is
that bracket setting up? Because man, there's a lot of
competition in there. I know there's some heavy favorites, and
of course high school I went to. Oday, I'm hoping
they can get back to a championship, but I having
won since what twenty seventeen eighteen after beating gar or
Rainer Beach thirty eight to eleven. But who you see
(07:39):
as a favorite coming out of the three A, Because man,
every year it seems like it's either Bellevue Yales in
that conversation now Oday East like Catholic. Who you got
this season?
Speaker 7 (07:49):
Well, Chris, you're gonna be disappointed to hear it I'm
picking the Bellevue Wolverine to win this year. I think
I don't think for me, Bellevue is not just the
best team in three. I think they're probably the best
team in the state regardless of classification. They got a
couple of linemen, ones committed to Oregon, ones committed to USC.
They're just huge up front. The running back is a
(08:11):
really good job in that in that wing t system. Uh,
Warren Moon's kid is in the secondary. They they've got
another dB.
Speaker 8 (08:19):
That's a D one recruit.
Speaker 7 (08:20):
They're just they're just stacked. They're loaded all over. So
we like the Bellevue Wolverines. But I will say I
think the best upset chance and and we we were
predicting an Oday Bellevue title game is.
Speaker 8 (08:32):
O Day there again.
Speaker 7 (08:34):
You know Money Cohler, he's done it well for a
long time. He's got that thing rolling again.
Speaker 10 (08:40):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (08:40):
They're ground and pound. They've they've got a ton of
high profile players. Uh DM that's committed to Idaho. Paulo
Banchero's kid is a is a sorry not kid wid Yeah. Yeah,
a little brother is a wide receiver there. And so
they've got they've got the talent and pieces. I think
it's probably gonna be those two and then East Side
(09:01):
Catholic is is that they're they're always in the in
the picture as well. I think it's probably some mixture
of those three teams that are gonna.
Speaker 8 (09:10):
See themselves in the title game.
Speaker 6 (09:13):
Go ahead. I was just gonna say Odey shut out
East Side Catholic if I remember early in the season,
yet they're the two and three seeds, And I was
going to ask you real quick, I'm sorry, Chris. Since
we're on the subject Bellevue, how do they keep running
the wing tea and churning out Division I prospects in
this age of college football that's spread everyone's shotgun? What
(09:35):
niche does that work for Bellevue?
Speaker 7 (09:38):
Yeah? I don't that's a good question. And they haven't
necessarily had great receivers there because you're not going to
get very many touches, right, But they've had they've had
great linemen. They have really really just good running backs
who understand kind of their roles and and where to.
Speaker 8 (09:56):
Hit the holes.
Speaker 7 (09:57):
And and I think the biggest thing, Greg is they've
got great linemen. And I think we can dissect this
game to death sometimes and I'm all these you know
we over complicate it, and I think a lot of
the time, nine times out of ten, if you're better upfront,
you're gonna win the game, especially at the high school level,
(10:17):
and being able to kind of push people around and
impose your will has been a recipe that's worked out
for Bellevue.
Speaker 6 (10:23):
Yeah, that's same at the Seahawks level, especially when they
play the forty go ahead.
Speaker 9 (10:28):
Chris, I'm curious, John, who would be your dark horse? Now,
maybe they're not the heavy favorite, but when played, when
they play their best ball, they can compete with anybody.
And in the three A and four A, who are
those teams that if they get a shot and play
their best ball, they could be hosting that trophy at
the end of the year.
Speaker 7 (10:46):
I don't necessarily know about hosting the trophy, but my
dark horse in three A comes from Tacoma, South Tacoma, Washington,
Mount Tahoma.
Speaker 8 (10:55):
I like what they're doing.
Speaker 7 (10:57):
They're the number ten seed this year in the three
A bracket. I think a lot of people wrote them
off too quickly. They got off to kind of a
slow start, but they were replacing a lot of seniors.
I just watched them absolutely dismantle a pretty good Mount
Spokane team last week, and then they the week before
they had beat Lakes, who was previously undefeated. So I
(11:18):
think they're really hot right now. Keith Terry's a good coach.
They run the ball, They're able to hit explosive plays.
Speaker 8 (11:25):
In the passing game.
Speaker 7 (11:26):
They've got a Division one bound receiver and Elijah Durr
who can go up and win jump balls, and he's
a good home run threat. So I think if you're
looking for a dark horse in three A, maybe look
there to the ten seed. And then in four A
I'd mentioned I think it's pu Alla, the fourteen seed.
They only lost the Sumner by three points. That's a
(11:47):
Sumner team we're talking about as as a potential state
championship team.
Speaker 8 (11:52):
So Pallup is playing, believe it or not.
Speaker 7 (11:54):
After the fifty point blowouts at some Water, they've been
one of they They really did some soul searching and
I've figured some things out and have been massively improved
in the second half of the season. It was never
a question of athletes. They've got really good athletes. They've
got a bunch of intriguing players. It was just kind
of putting it together and now They're one of the
hottest teams in for a right now.
Speaker 6 (12:15):
John, I look at the four A bracket, I see
Graham Capusen with seven and three record down at the
nine seed. Seems like they're laying in the weeds. Those
guys have been up there forever and have built a
powerhouse in the last decade. What do you think about
gk's chances from they got Arlington in the first round
and where they sit in the bracket. Yeah, and that's.
Speaker 8 (12:34):
Gonna be a really tough game.
Speaker 7 (12:36):
Arlington has their quarterback, Layton Martin, who's I watched him
at the Tacoma Doman the State basketball tournament and just
walked away super impressed. He's a He's a great athlete,
fantastic basketball player. I think his futures in basketball. But
he's been a really good quarterback for them this year.
And they Beata Stevens by a couple of touchdowns a
couple of weeks ago, so traveling up there up north
(12:59):
is going to be no task. But gk's just young
this year. They have a ton of talent all over
the place. But they lost our our reigning TNT All
Area Player of the Year and their quarterback last year
who was a senior. They lost a pair of Division
one wide receiver recruits to graduation, so.
Speaker 8 (13:18):
They're just young.
Speaker 7 (13:19):
But they've got a really good freshman quarterback. He was
fourteen years old when this season started. Aj Twoey Vayave
is his name, and he is going to be a
future star power for recruit. I think he's already got
some powerfour offers before he even took a high school snap.
Speaker 8 (13:36):
So he's the real deal.
Speaker 7 (13:38):
They definitely have upset ability, and like you said, the
track record and just kind of the expectation of being
Graham Capausen I think goes along ways in the state tournament.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Let me stand on three a breaking news and this
one is almost unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (13:54):

Speaker 6 (16:23):
East Side Catholic we haven't heard much about. Lakes is
always down, that program is for a quarter century or more.
And they're the four seed against Seattle Prep, who you
normally don't hear in the state championship for football. And
then Roosevelt, my kids on the water. I live right
next to the school. They never were a football anything,
(16:44):
and that's a huge deal for them to be in
the state tournament. I know they're under investigation for alleged
recruiting with the new coaching staff. There the three teams
I just mentioned east Side Catholic, Lakes even Seattle Prep.
How they got it in Roosevelt. What do you say
about those guys?
Speaker 7 (17:00):
East Side Catholic has the best chance of of that
group to make a state tournament run. I mean, they're
always so good defensively, defensive line, They've always got big
guys and their linebackers are always really good. I'd mentioned
that the d N that's an Idaho commit. They got
a junior linebacker who's gonna be a Division one recruit.
(17:21):
So I think, uh, defense and and just kind of
imposing their will on the d line is always the recipe.
For Eastside Catholic uh Lakes is an interesting one. They
they started out so hot this season, but they've kind
of been bit by the injury bug a little bit. Uh,
They're they're down a couple of players, they're their best
(17:43):
d end has been out the last couple of weeks.
But if they can get healthy, they they absolutely they
have the athletes, they have the defense to make a run.
The quarterback has has played really well, uh this year
when he's been called on and and he can also
run a little bit, so they could be in the
pictures well. And then yeah, Roosevelt got the defensive lineman
(18:05):
that was a star at Bethel last year, and they've
had a kind of an influx of recruits like you
have alluded to.
Speaker 6 (18:12):
So yeah, I'll just leave it go how you got there.
Speaker 7 (18:14):
But but yeah, i'd known. The Washington State Coaches Football
Coaches Association kind of raised that issue recently as.
Speaker 8 (18:25):
Well in a letter to the WIA.
Speaker 7 (18:27):
But but on the field, yeah, they're a good program,
and they've got athletes and they could make a.
Speaker 8 (18:32):
Run as well.
Speaker 9 (18:33):
I'm curious John, you mentioned it briefly about Tumwater playing
potentially another championship team, maybe from A four A or
A three eight has that? Has that ever been considered
later on into the season, right before I guess bable
season already in play, But has it ever been considered? Hey,
a championship team that won in two way, would they
want to compete with a three A team for.
Speaker 6 (18:54):
The best of the best.
Speaker 9 (18:55):
Has that ever been discussed? And if so, when could
we possibly see that happening in high school football in Washington.
Speaker 7 (19:02):
I've heard it discussed as a fun kind of hypothetical,
but never.
Speaker 8 (19:08):
I don't think it's ever gotten any serious traction.
Speaker 7 (19:11):
I think the one kind of post season game you'll see,
as I know ESPN host that.
Speaker 8 (19:19):
I don't know if Geico's still the presenting sponsor, but.
Speaker 7 (19:21):
I remember a few years ago when Graham Capuson won
that four A title and they had that fantastic team
with Josh Wood and Big Ione who's at Penn State
now and all those guys. They trounced through the four
A bracket and just.
Speaker 8 (19:37):
Blew out everybody.
Speaker 7 (19:38):
They got invited to play in a that Geico Bowl
series down in Las Vegas, and they played the Georgia
seven A state champion Collins Hill, who happened to feature
Travis Hunter on that team, and I'm sure everyone listening
is aware of what he's doing at Colorado right now.
So that was really fun. Rampty Palson ended up winning
(20:01):
that game. Josh Wood took them down on this incredible
touchdown game winning drive and just kind of capped off
and already amazing season.
Speaker 8 (20:10):
So that's That's the one kind.
Speaker 7 (20:11):
Of post state championship game that I've seen, but I
haven't heard any you know, two AA versus three A
that's never been seriously brought to light.
Speaker 9 (20:21):
I guess the closest we'll get is there seven on
seven tournaments that they do before the season.
Speaker 7 (20:25):
If anything, right, well, there's a lot of seven on
seven all stars, right, and then it's a little different
when you when you put the pads on. But I'm
probably a different topic for a different day.
Speaker 6 (20:38):
John Manley joining us here in the Beacon Plumbing Hotline,
talking state high school football. The state championships begin this weekend. John,
the move to Husky Stadium for the finals fans had
wanted it forever, used to be in the Kingdom way
way back. When what has that done? Do you think
the excitement for that after being in pew All up
and people, I'm not happy at Sparks Stadium.
Speaker 7 (20:59):
Yeah, they had held it at three different sites, Sparks
Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma, and then Harry Lang
in Lakewood, which was you know, I mean, you don't
dream about playing your high school. All respect to Harry
Lang and the Culover Park School District, but you don't
dream about playing your state championship game. And you know
in the little stadium in Lakewood, right, So I think
(21:22):
it's been great. I liked when they had the Tacoma Dome,
but after they did the remodel, the renovation, the site
lines just weren't very good, and so I understand why.
Speaker 8 (21:32):
They moved away from there.
Speaker 7 (21:33):
And uh yeah, after they hosted a Husky Stadium last
year at just glowing reviews, and I know Mick Hoffman
and everyone at the WAA has just spoken glowingly about that,
and the players and the coaches loved it. I remember
we covered one state championship game. I think it was
one of the smaller school classifications, and the quarterback was
(21:53):
just a moti I think almost in tears. He just
he said it was my dream since I was a
little kid. I always wanted to quarterback at Husky Stadium.
And of course he was talking about for the Huskies,
but I think he's probably five eight and and maybe
a buck eighty.
Speaker 8 (22:07):
So that wasn't gonna happen.
Speaker 7 (22:08):
So that's thing he was playing. He was playing quarterback
for his high school team at Husky Stadium. You run
out of that tunnel, you look up and and uh
you see you know, seventy thousand seats and the bright lights,
and uh yeah, I think that's, like you said, Greg,
that's what high school sports should be. It's it's it's
about making memories for the kids, and I think it's great.
(22:31):
The one the one thing is, you know, if the
weather is not great, there's no not really any cover.
They're just opening up the lower bowl obviously, And so
that's that's kind of the one downside, especially when you're
talking about playing in December. But if you get a
good day of weather, it's hard to beat.
Speaker 6 (22:48):
John. You mentioned Mickoff and we had the w I
a executive director on our show a couple of weeks ago.
We started talking about nil and he said, you know what,
that's not really a thing here in Washington. The bigger
deal is a transfer port, and as you've written in
the News Tribune, there has been a legislator in Washington
who's talking about opening up like colleges are. Mick told
(23:09):
us that the push for a vote in the spring
with the WA membership will be to propose a one
time free transfer essentially where you can do it once,
but then after that the old transfer rules would come
in and it's supposed to be family hardship and all
of that. Have you heard coaches say which side of
the defence they're on and what pros and cons? Have
you heard of that plan?
Speaker 8 (23:31):
Yeah? I think there's a little bit of concern, right.
Speaker 7 (23:35):
I mean, there's already in a lot of school districts
you can get a free transfer before your ninth grade
freshman year and go wherever you want, and that varies
depending on the school district, but there's already that and
a lot of them. Some school school districts have open
enrollment so you can kind of choose which school you
want to go to.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Breaking news and this one is almost unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Yeah, it's all about you customers at BET three sixty
five because they get one hundred and fifty dollars in
bonus bets when they bet five dollars, and even better,
bonus bets can be used on the spread totals and

Speaker 7 (26:28):
But I think it's just there's concern that maybe you're
looking at a slippery slope and okay, right now it's a.
Speaker 8 (26:35):
One time transfer.
Speaker 7 (26:36):
What stops that, you know, five ten years from now
from becoming Okay, you can transfer every summer, every off
season now, and eventually you're looking at what I know,
the WA doesn't like that term and the term transfer portal,
but eventually that's what it becomes if you're just allowing
free transferring. And there's major concerns about competitive balance and
(26:58):
super teams, and you know, I mean that already exists
to a certain extent. Obviously, I mean, kids are.
Speaker 8 (27:06):
Gonna end up where they want to.
Speaker 7 (27:08):
Be and there's.
Speaker 8 (27:10):
Legal ways to do that.
Speaker 7 (27:12):
Obviously, if there's a change of residents or something like that,
you can go run an apartment somewhere and roll in
a different schools.
Speaker 8 (27:18):
That's fine.
Speaker 7 (27:19):
But I just think there's concern about potential parody concerns
and super teams and just kind of the rich getting
richer basically and being able to load up with whoever
they want.
Speaker 6 (27:34):

Speaker 6 (28:47):
Your chance to be a part of the show and
tell them we'll do text line four nine four five
one and eleven thirty five factor fixtion your chance to
win one thousand dollars from the Emerald Queen Casino, the
betting capital of the Northwest. All coming up here from
Sea Oorks Headquarters in Rentin on ninety three point three

music plays? The time for you to be a part
of the show and a telem'll do text line four

Speaker 9 (29:18):
From the four two five, This is Jim Johnson. Interesting
how a public school and bolds Will gets called out
for recruiting, but private schools have no real guidelines except
for mileage radius. Probably not good topic, but a cast
of shadow for paying attention to high school football and basketball.
Also from the two five three, Greg, Bellevue has been
(29:39):
running the wing t since Chuck now junior played at Bellevue.
Speaker 6 (29:44):
Yeah, sud Knox since eighty three eighty four point in
my question, how do they still have the wing tea
is still working in the college football recruiting world. That's
that was the point of that question. Yeah, I know
they've been there forever. I guess I'll never stop, will it?
Not to win like this?
Speaker 9 (29:59):
From the three six, So James give Royal and the
one A bracket some respect?
Speaker 6 (30:03):
Yeah, well city man, they have a powerhouse there. I didn't.
We didn't get to one A. We also didn't get
the cater the Gators. I remember, risk. I meant to
ask John about Decatur High School and Federal Away winning
this league for the first time undefeated in the state championship.
Speaker 9 (30:19):
Greg from the three six, so tell us what you
know about Tyree Nike and thoughts on him being successful
or maybe not.
Speaker 6 (30:26):
Subject to tough love from Mike McDonald all summer, spring
and summer, and he was playing first team reps from
May June through a training camp because Jerome Baker had
a hamstring issue. He never got him on the field
and it was tough love. Like I said, he learned
on the fly with the starting defense. Night did fourth
round pick from Texas El Passo last year. He was
a free lancing ballhawk. They just turned the moves to
(30:49):
go wherever you want. And we talked about Chriss. He
had fifteen tackled for loss for UTEP last year and
we asked. I asked him he just blitz every down.
He said, yeah, pretty much. And now he's got to
be a actual instructure weekside linebacker. He was more of
a middle linebacker last year with UTEP, and Mike McDonald
said yesterday his biggest challenge has been taken on blocks
(31:11):
as most for most rookies linebackers in the NFL, it
is and here come the blocks. On Sunday in Santa.
Speaker 9 (31:16):
Clara from the two six Ben thanks for doing a
segment on local high school football and shout out to
UDUB and WIA to coordinate the use of Husky Stadium
for championships. We are finally getting it right and that
means a lot to those kids, It really does.
Speaker 6 (31:31):
And even if it rains and cold, I think the
fans and kids are willing to do that for the
fact that it's an Husky Stadium instead of a high
school field. And Pierce County.
Speaker 9 (31:39):
Last one from the three six oh and a course
of Seahawks going back to back.
Speaker 6 (31:43):
Oh all right, all right, we've got a couple of
a chordus on the text. I saw that as well.
Speaker 9 (31:47):
Yes, but now there's a chance, hopefully for someone to
win a thousand dollars with Factor Fiction brought to you
by the Emerald Queen Casino.
Speaker 11 (31:56):
Were set to go.
Speaker 6 (31:57):
Glad you're with us.
Speaker 12 (31:58):
I'm not picking the Jets four thousand bucks and the
ten thousand dollars grand prize. It's Factor Fiction brought to
you by the Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of
the Northwest. Make the beautiful New equc Sports booky your
home all football season long. Fact Door Fiction is on
Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ R FM.
Speaker 6 (32:24):
Yeah, Chris can't pick the Jaguars at the Lions again,
because you've already done that.
Speaker 9 (32:28):
I mean, I guess I could take the Jaguars minus
the points to protect myself. Yeah, I wouldn't do that.
That's not fun. That's just four lined. I feel that's
that's not cool. I will though, Well.
Speaker 6 (32:42):
Let me get let me just give them context again.
This is the show that leads the station first place,
but factor fiction the most facts. So just to give
you some if your hedge and should I agree with
this or not, I'm just giving you some historical perspective here,
all right, Sorry, go ahead, you're good.
Speaker 9 (32:57):
This week, the Atlanta Falcons are heading on the road.
They are traveling to Denver mile High. Here I say
the take on bow Knicks, who has improved quite a bit.
I'm sure Bucky, if he's listening, he's smiling saying, yeah,
that kid, my guy, bo Nicks. He's not as bad
as you thought he was.
Speaker 6 (33:14):
He's not. He's playing fine. Actually.
Speaker 9 (33:16):
But I do think Atlanta will go in there and
I think they'll play. I think they'll play fine. I
think they'll be able to run the football. I think Beijon
might have a good game on the ground, and I
think that propels them. I don't know if they'll win
the game, but you're gonna give me two and a
half points at Denver. Go ahead and give me the
Atlanta Falcons plus two and a half at the Denver Broncos. Again,
Atlanta Falcons on the road. I know their past defense
(33:39):
is good. Patrick Sartain has been a beast, but I
think on the run game, the run defense, I think
is where they might have some struggles. So give me
Atlanta plus two and a half at the Denver Broncos.
There you have it, Atlanta Falcons plus two and a half.
Speaker 6 (33:52):
If you agree with Chris text fact the four nine
four to five one. If you disagree text fiction to
four nine four to five one, you have twelve minutes time.
Your next chance is two thirty five pm with the
infernetal three thirty five with Dave SOUTHT mall Or and
Dick Bank heading into the Thursday night game here on
ninety two win three kids yard tonight Commanders at Eagles
Falcons plus two and a half, getting the points at
(34:15):
Denver the Bronco's five and five. If you're a Greek,
text factor four nine four or five to one if
you disagree and you think the Broncos are going to
roll Atlanta in mile high text fiction to four nine
four five one. Atlanta's six and four at top of
the AFC NFC South by two games over Tampa Bay
(34:35):
Division leader getting two and a half points. I can
see the hodgic theres Chris. Yeah, I'm also good. I'm
getting pressed by it now. Personal. No, you're good.
Speaker 9 (34:44):
You saw him live and was like, but Keith, you're
not helping me. Man Keith out a two five three,
great pick, you know, Keith, I think I like it
better when you say kid. I don't know about that one,
because usually that works out for me. Like my twenty
nine percent from yesterday from Tuesday with my I don't
even know if I want to bring it up again,
but nine, yeah, twenty nine percent. I think that might
set a record for Lois, you know, percentage for people
(35:07):
that agreed with me on fact. But I expect that
to rise again. I'm going Atlanta plus the two and
a half on the road at the Denver Broncos again.
I think they can get it done. But hell, if
they lose, just don't lose by more than three, baby,
That's all I.
Speaker 6 (35:21):
Ask if you're Chris tech factor four nine four fift one.
If you disagree, text fiction to four nine to four
to five one and get how it works. You only
have to win once they enter as many times as
you want during the week, twenty times, twenty chances, and
if you win once, you're in the drawing to win
one thousand dollars from the Emerald Queen Casino, the betting
capital of the Northwest. Whoever wins the most through the
contest that ends here in a couple of weeks now
(35:42):
well actually four weeks mid December. Whoever has won the
most times over the course of the contest will win
the grand prize of ten thousand dollars from the Emerald
Queen Casino Falcons plus two and a half at Denver.
If you agree and you think the Falcons are going
to win outright or lose by fewer than by two
or fewer points me were one, then text factor four
nine four to five one. If you disagree, text fiction
(36:04):
at four nine four to five one. Up next back
in the studio with Elliott bays Ian Forness for his
show from twelve to three. He'll join me to talk
next on ninety three point three KJRFM. Welcome back to
the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, Seahawks headquarters at Greg bellt
Show with Christopher Kidd. If you miss start talking with
John Manley about the state high school football championships. Go
(36:27):
to the iHeartRadio app search for you the Greg Best
Show with Christopher Kidd or ninety three three KJR dot com.
You'll find our podcast there Later this afternoon, Ian Forness
joins us. Well, first you have one more chance for
the thousand dollars from the Emeral Queen Casino or Factor
Fiction today Falcons plus two and a half at Denver.
He Chris has taken the two and a half in
(36:47):
the Falcons at the Broncos. If you agree, text Factor
four nine four to five one. If you disagree, text
Fiction to four nine four to five one. Hello Iann, Hello,
how are you well?
Speaker 8 (36:56):
Sir?
Speaker 6 (36:56):
Thank you? How are you? I'm good? How is that?
Speaker 13 (36:59):
How was Hell's John Manley?
Speaker 6 (37:01):
Great? Yeah? Gave us full a great show, but three
or four he does, he's the best in the state.
Added videos stories. He loves Bellevue. He said that they're
just still rolling with the wing t and he thinks
Tom Water might be one of the best teams in
all classes in the state. They'd beat all they're two A, right,
two A by fifty points A four state champion, well
(37:24):
they would.
Speaker 13 (37:25):
In fairness, they would probably be a lot of four.
Speaker 6 (37:27):
A teams by fifteen.
Speaker 13 (37:28):
I feels like for a while, the strength Chris probably agree,
the strength of the of the state is Lie has
been in the three A category right in a lot
of ways with you know, Bellvy's resurgence obviously, but before
that East Side Catholic oday, right, I mean it's Kennedy
is a four A school. There used to be three
of the four A.
Speaker 6 (37:47):
Now why do they move? Is it? You know? Why? Oh?
Speaker 13 (37:50):
No, I think I think they wanted to be in
the NPSL. I think it's just it's from a geographic standpoint,
Kennedy in the NPSL makes sense, you know, with the
Auburn schools, the Kent schools and all that. So right
down the streets at Federal Way, the Arian schools. Yeah,
so I'm not sure not.
Speaker 6 (38:08):
To get off of high school, but I'm going to. Okay.
Yesterday Hugh brought up something really interesting. It's true that
Gino this is a big game for Geno Smith on
Sunday because he is oh and five against the forty
nine ers, and his quote to us on our show
yesterday was I wouldn't want to be Geno Smith and
his agent going to the Seahawks before next season at
(38:28):
o and six against the forty nine ers asking for
a contract extension. We've talked about this, and you and
I have talked about this. He and that. Yeah, that
he's got one year left beyond this one. His contract
ends after a twenty twenty five season, but the Seahawks
are deciding what to do beyond that for him right now.
This season is their judgment, and these are the last
(38:48):
eight games here will determine how much they want to
do with Smith going forward. I still think he's part
of the solution and not the problem. I think he
could be excellent with Grian Grub if they can get
an offensive line to pass protect and do the run
game that they want to. And I think they are
going to resign Smith for a couple of years, but
this is a big game in terms of how he
(39:08):
can get out of his own division and beat the
best team in it.
Speaker 13 (39:11):
Yeah, I agree. I think I think the other part
of the equation comes in is is the is the draft, Like,
there's nobody there that's better than Geno Smith.
Speaker 6 (39:22):
There just isn't.
Speaker 13 (39:22):
I mean, there's there's, it's it's.
Speaker 6 (39:25):
It could have been last year and I don't even
know if that's the case.
Speaker 13 (39:28):
But look at this year, like look at this year,
like Jade Daniels Okay, yeah, I mean if you just
got looking long term, I think we can there's probably
enough of a sample size. Hey, Jade Daniels can be Okay.
I think Caleb the honestly, the jury is still out
on Caleb Williams. Bow Nicks has gotten better every week,
but he's got a pretty good group around him, especially
(39:50):
on the defensive side. Who else Drake may Let's see
who am I missing on that?
Speaker 6 (39:56):
Mint?
Speaker 13 (39:57):
So he does AJ Camerly tell Yeah, I mean and
that was this great quarterback class, right, I mean look
at the Anthony richardson top five pick two years ago,
Like jury's out on him. I mean, you know what
you get in Gino. I think, until you know, you've
got a guy, and they never plan on drafting that high.
Speaker 6 (40:14):
They might be this year, but even if they let's
say they finished six and eleven, Okay, they're still gonna
have the Browns, the Saints, the Raiders, all quarterback needy
teams ahead of it. I take you.
Speaker 13 (40:26):
I'm with you, though, I think Gino, you got to
invest in that offensive line. God, they've got to invest
that offensive line. I think it's just it's just it's
just disastrous. I mean, it's just a disaster. It's it's
it is exactly. We can complain about inside linebackers, we
can complain about this not being able to stop the
running games, especially the first San Francisco game. Let's just
(40:48):
get right back to it. The biggest problem right now
is that offensive line, period, end of story. I mean,
it just doesn't it's not even close. There's not even close.
Speaker 6 (40:54):
Number two, Greg, I don't think so. And you can't do.
Speaker 13 (40:57):
Anything offensively with that in front of you right now.
So I think that's your start. I think that's where
you're start, and you focus this year. You bring Geno back,
and really, is Gino going to have that much of
a market.
Speaker 6 (41:09):
Well, if he leads the league in passing without the interception,
someone's going to pay him. Maybe not for three four years.
Speaker 13 (41:14):
But he's he's throwing the picks this year, though, So,
I mean, I think that that's not coming off his resume,
that's right, right. I just don't know what kind of
what kind of market there would be for this guy.
I mean, I guess I don't know. I mean Kirk
Cousins had a market, So who knows. Yeah, No, I
think I'm with you. Bring Geno back, Bring Geno back,
and invest elsewhere offensive line specifically.
Speaker 9 (41:35):
I'll tell you this, if James can signed for four
years twenty five I think, and he threw thirty thirty
two years prior. I know it's not a lot of
money for Jamis, but I think Gino could probably get
more than that, even if he does continue throwing picks.
Speaker 13 (41:48):
Part of the two is the fit, right though. I mean,
he's comfortable here, would he be comfortable somewhere else? He's
failed other places? Yep, he has failed miserably other places.
Speaker 6 (41:58):
So I think he's part of the solution. And we'll
see what they do, you guys. Before we go to
what Ian's got for us today, John Hayman of the
New York Post is reporting the w FA and New
York is closing in und deal to hire Dave Simms
to replace John Sterling is the primary radio voice of
the New York games. Oh how about that? How about that?
Friend them one Dave Simms. Simsy lives in New York
and Manhattan and the off season his wife's still there, Abby,
(42:19):
and that would be great for him. Congratulations, that would
be that would be really good. What do you have today, sir?
Speaker 13 (42:24):
I think we're going to talk a little college football.
Stuart Mendel will join us in the first hour twelve
twenty today and let's see what else we got going on.
Oh Cartman, sorry, Corbyn Smith joining us at one o'clock
and then an official start of the weekend fantasy football
Brandon Funston too. You send your text in at noon,
(42:45):
not a second earlier, and we'll answer those questions, starting
it starting at two o'clock with Funston.
Speaker 6 (42:51):
That is Ian for ne as. We look forward to
that from twelve to three with Jessamin McIntyre. Greg Bell
here from the Virginia Mason Athletics and I'm going to
go talk to Gino Smith in about ten minutes. In fact,
thanks for listening, Chris Kidbeck in the studio. Thank you.
