Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome back to the Greg Belt Show with Christopher Kid
here on ninety three point three KJR for them on
They Choose Chill Monday, taking you up to Monday Night
football Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings five pm. Right here
on your airwaves, right from the Dave Softy Maller and
Dick Fane Show from the Emerald Queen Casino will lead
you right up to kickoff of Bears at Vikings. The
(00:25):
next two opponents for the Seahawks Vikings on Sunday eleven
and two Foreign nine Chicago at Soldier Field on Lake
Michigan a day after Christmas, a Thursday night game December
twenty sixth Seahawks need to tread waters, least to stay
with the Rams so that that final game against the
Rams January fifth or six is for the division title.
Headlin's rout to by Frost brewed cors like Choose Chill
(00:47):
and You're gonna hear from Al mc cooper to the
second Lieutenant West Point Graduate Miss USA from Arlington National Cemetery.
Seahawks are exposed in all the Pacific Northwest put back
in its reality last night Packers Mauldam from the first
plays of the game, Gino Smith threw a fifth red
zone interception this season, the most in the league, to
kill all hopes of a comeback. When it was seventeen
to three, then it was twenty six, and so on.
(01:09):
Smith injured his knee leg twisted by Eddrian Cooper after
he threw an incomplete pass midway through the third quarter.
He was fifteen to nineteen fo one hundred and forty
nine yards with a crucial interception into the end zone
on a throw he was back peddling on under pressure
in the red zone, throwing across the field to an
out route to Noah Fan. It was about five yards
hun another out out from Tyler Lockett. Two Packers could
have intercepted that pass. Another bad throw and bad decision
(01:33):
in the red zone for Gino Smith. The latest on
his knee injury. Coach Mike McDonald said this morning on
his Coaches show that he is quote he had traded
quote optimistic text messages with his quarterback this morning, but
that the Gino Smith had yet to have the MRI
done on his knee. That's going to happen later today,
that MRI. It'll show the extent of the damage. When
(01:53):
Smith came back out on the field to go to
the sidelines after getting an X ray inside last night.
He was limping pretty badly, tried to jog into the
middle of the sideline. We'll see how Smith and the
possibility that he plays on Sunday when the eleven and
two Vikings come in to loomin field. Sam how Enardon
showed that he may not be at least last night.
(02:14):
He certainly wasn't the quarterback in the future. Five for
fourteen twenty four yards, an interception thrown right at Cooper
at the linebacker down the middle in the middle of
its own defense. Four sacks, so that was nineteen dropbacks
only five incompletions. That's happened only twenty times in the last
twenty five years in the NFL. The Rams beat beating
the forty nine Ers Thursday night means LA now has
(02:34):
the NFC West League by tide breaker or beating the
Seahawks at Lumenfielders in November third, Seahawks fell from third
seed to outside the playoff picture, looking in number eight
out of seven. Rams play at the Jets this weekend,
then home to the Cardinals, while the Seahawks are playing
the Vikings and the four and nine Bears the next
two weeks again Seahawks Rams final game of the regular season.
(02:54):
The Seahawks need to stay at least tied with LA
in one lost record heading into that final game to
make it a clear NFL West title games. Otherwise, head
to head or common games tiebreaker could be the determining
factor in the division. That's again if the Seahawks can
stay even with the Rams next two weeks. NFC East
leading Eagles dominated the Steelers yesterday in the second half
(03:15):
to win twenty seven to thirteen. The Eagles are now
twelve and two. The Lions are twelve and two because
the Bills beat them in Detroit forty eight to forty two.
Josh Allen just ridiculous three hundred and sixty two yards
and two TV's passing, sixty eight rushing yards, two more
TVs on the ground. The Bills are eleven and three,
seven of the fourteen NFL teams already set first time
that's happened this early with still three games left in
(03:35):
the regular season. Chiefs, Bills, Steelers, and Texans are all
in in the AFC, and they're holding the top four
seeds right now as the division leaders. The Lions, Eagles,
and Vikings are the clinching what they have already clinched
in the NFCS seeds one, two and five right now,
the Vikings five because the Lions are the division leaders
in the NFC North. So even though they clinched, Vikes
still had plenty to play for trying to win a
(03:57):
division title in a home playoff game, including on Sunday
at Seattle. Tonight the Vikings host the Bears again five
o'clock here on ninety three point three KJRFN The Falcons
and Raiders was two Monday night games. Tonight Falcons and
Raiders at five thirty on ten ninety am. Because on
nine to fifty AMKGR, the UW Coaches Basketball Show with
Danny Sprinkle's going to be on Cracking lost it home
(04:17):
five to one to Tampa Bay Saturday, Philip Rubauer again
and goal for Joey to Cord. You heard Mike Benton
talking about that last segment, Crack and go right back
to five hundred and fifteen wins, fifteen losses in an
overtime tie. They end their four game homestand tomorrow night
against Ottawa right here on ninety three point three KJRFM
again Mike Ben with a pregame show tomorrow at six
thirty puck drop at seven tomorrow. Cracking in Ottawa, Climbate Pledgerina.
(04:39):
The Heisman Trophy went to Colorado wide receiver and cornerback
Travis Hunter went in a close vote over Asking genty.
At Boise State, Army lost to Navy thirty one to thirteen.
Quarterback play was a difference. Navy's was three hundred total
yards and three touchdowns, and Armies Bryson Daily had probably
his worst game of the season after leading the nation
in twenty nine rushing touchdowns heading into that game.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
What's surprise you at the NFL this week, Chris.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
How dominant and how good and how amazingly offensively the
Bills are. They are a machine. I don't know if
Amaro Cooper has done anything. I'll be honest, it's like
everyone else but Amar and yet they're putting up I
know their defense is having struggles, but Josh Allen has
just been in my eyes just I think this is
what everyone has been waiting to see from Josh Allen.
(05:32):
He's not turning the ball over, he's playing really efficient
and on top of that, their winning like that. That
has been the most surprising weekend and week out. It's
not just this past weekend. It has been like, damn,
Josh Allen has it figured out. Yeah, you can't stop him.
He can run the football. There was a play he
just walked into the end zone. No one touched him,
he jumped in the air and there wasn't a Lion
(05:55):
within five yards. They are just way ahead right now,
like we thought the Lions were the team, like, oh yeah,
the Lion. They're losing player left and right. Unfortunately, that's
the injury bug is attacking them.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
That really sucks. You think the Bills are better than
Chiefs right now?
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Yes, but I think the championship pedigree. Chiefs have been
doing this for so long. They're not worried. They know
they can beat them. But right now, if I had
to pick a team to win, I would choose Buffalo.
I just think they are Their defense is having issues,
but I look at Josh Allen.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
I'll put it this way.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
If Mahomes goes down and scores a touchdown and there's
thirty seconds left, I have no doubt in my mind
that Josh Allen's going to lead them to score as well.
And they're going to go for two and win the game.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
I told my buddy Paul Webb, best man of my wedding.
I saw him this weekend at Army Navy, my West
Point classmate. I told him back in October, the Bills
are going to go to the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
You're looking good. You should have cashed out. I should have.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
You should have went down there and put one hundred
dollars in Greg. You'd be like, man, I'm about to
be feeling good.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
I think they'd beat Kansas City in Arrowhead or in
Orchard Park.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Yeah, they just look really good, really good offensively, defensively,
they can figure things out.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
But wow, and then you see those games. We saw
Buffalo here in Satto. But then you see, okay they
laid off the gas. Yeah. The Seahawks, as you can see.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Where they are. They're a middling team in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Yeah, they're top They're in the fifteen sixteen range, right
where I expect them to be.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
But I know a lot of people would say, well,
why you fire Pete Carroll. That's not a question for me, Okay,
that's for the upper.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Well, they fired Peek Carroll. For the longer term, it
wasn't for twenty twenty four. It was for where the
direction of the defense was going for years to come,
and there was a lot of promise on that side,
and Ernest Jones is going to be good for them
for a long long time. On Friday at Arlington National Cemetery,
Justin McIntyre and I were broadcasting from Media Roade one
hundred and twenty fifth Army Navy game, and man, we
had a fantastic lineup of guests across the Superintendent of
(07:41):
the United States Military Academy, on and on, I mean
just the I interviewed the leadership of the Corps cadets,
really impressive young men and women. And I also interviewed
the captain of the USA rugby team, a West Point
graduate now a captain in the Army. And I also
interviewed Miss USA, which at first, to me, I'd be honest,
(08:03):
seemed like okay, publicity stunt. The pr people that handed
us the information on the second Lieutenant Alma Cooper really
didn't do a lot of justice to what how accomplished
she is. She is far more than Miss USA. She
is currently in a master's program in data science and
statistics focusing on food and security in our country and
(08:25):
the world, and the Army has given her a recruiting
battalion assignment to get her master's degree and do promotions
as the reigning Miss USA. She's from just outside of Lansing, Michigan.
This is the second Lieutenant Alma Cooper with us on
Friday from Arlington National Cemetery.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Welcome back to the Greg Belt Show with Christopher Kidd
on a Monday. Happy Monday to you.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
We're joined now honored to be joined by Second Lieutenant
Alma Cooper. She's a twenty twenty three graduate of the
United States Military Academy, attending the Army Navy Game one
hundred and twenty fifth Army Navy. She's also Miss USA
for two thousand twenty four. You just got back from
the Miss.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Universe paget I did, Yes, I did.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
That was in Mexico City. It was what was that
experience like?
Speaker 4 (09:07):
Oh, it was really exciting.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
I mean there's nothing like here in USA and being
the one woman for the United States to walk out there,
So it was it was really neat, and it's really
neat to be able to share what it means to
serve both as Miss USA and ALSNY Uniform.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Second Aeutenant Alma Cooper.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Your hometown is Michigan. I live in Michigan. I grew
up in Michigan. Where in Michigan, right in the middle
by Michigan State.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Okay, Lansing, Yeah about Okay, what made you choose West Point?
Speaker 5 (09:33):
Well, it's funny. When I was growing up, I had
no clue what West Point was. And going into my
senior year, I was starting to think about where I
wanted to apply to college. I knew we wanted to
go somewhere rigorous and somewhere that was going to set
me up far beyond, you know, just my four years
at whatever institution I decided to go to.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
And my mom actually got a letter in the mail.
Speaker 5 (09:51):
To the house and it was talking about this summer
camp about West Point, and I, again didn't know anything
about it. Watched some YouTube videos in the in the kitchen,
and then she said, well, what do you think? And
I said, okay, yeah, you know, I'll give it a chance.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
I'll go.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
And she said great because I already paid the fees.
Speaker 5 (10:07):
So I had out with my mom and my dad
and they dropped me off in West Point, New York
over the summer, and I think to myself, Okay, well
I'll give it a chance. And again, after the first day,
I gave my parents a call and they said again,
what do you think?
Speaker 4 (10:22):
And I said, I love it. I don't want to
go anywhere else. Yes, I.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Wanted my first fun. We didn't have cell phones to
call it a good thing. We did, and we all
want to quit. Yeah, but no, in.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
All seriousness, I felt like, you know, the academy represented
what it meant to serve something bigger than yourself. And
I felt that, you know, I was making a life
decision instead of just a four year decision. That there
was something special about the place, the people, and what
it stood for. And you know, I was hoping to
one day learn about service and what it means to
live a lifetime of service, and I felt like West
(10:55):
Point was the perfect place for that.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Congratulations to you, ma'am on knowing that for seventeen years old,
that's heavy stuff. So how is it that you excelled
as you did, graduated from West Point, earned a commission
as a second lieutenant in military Intelligence, the branch that
I searched in the army as well.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
And then became Miss USA.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
How did you get from that track to the miss
USA track.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
I will say, not exactly conventional.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
Right, but you know, not exactly conventional, but also not
mutually exclusive. I think that when I look at the
Venn diagram of where you know, the military and the
world of pageantry, at least for me have overlapped. It's
the idea of service, and for me, I've been able
to serve one as a first lieutenant and working with
recruiting and also thinking about how other ways there are
(11:41):
for people to learn about service in the military, and
then being at miss USA, have had the opportunity to
work with organizations that are centered around food and security,
which is what I do for my research focused on
food and security and health nutrition research.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
By the way, as a master's student at Stanford University,
we were talking, you know, an accomplished woman here on
that I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (12:03):
No worries, and so I think that, you know, those
worlds intersecting for me come a lot from service, discipline
and also the idea to again be a part of
something bigger than yourself. And I had the child of dream,
childhood dream of one day hoping to walk across the
Miss USA stage. And you know, in January of this
year and my first year at Stanford, I decided to
(12:24):
chase that dream. And I think that, you know, one
thing that I grew up on is the idea that
the only limits that you face are the ones that
you accept. And for me to have that opportunity to
compete and pursue a passion while you know, being of
being an armed a member of the army, has been
really neat to be able to show that you can
pursue personal passions and opportunities while also being of service
(12:45):
to your country.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Had you done pageants as a young girl.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
I competed in my first pageant when I was fourteen
and I was first runner up and that was in
Miss Michigan Teen USA. And so in April of this year,
I became Miss Michigan USA and that was kind of
my ticket to go to Miss USA and a lot
of countries. You know, you can compete in you know,
Miss fill in the blank of the country a number
of times, but you know, for the Miss USA system,
(13:10):
you've only got one shot.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
So it's like you in the lottery ones and that's
all you get.
Speaker 5 (13:15):
And so you know, that opportunity presented itself, and again,
the only limits you face with the ones you accept.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
What do your women, your fellow Miss Argentina in Germany
and France and Canada and Netherlands say about you being
in the military. Are you the only one in the world?
Speaker 4 (13:32):
I think so.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
I just came back from the Miss Universe competition. The
one thing that I think is really neat is that
when I grew up watching Miss USA, I always really
looked up to the women who walked across that stage
because they represented so many different things.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
There were doctors, there were lawyers, there were people who were.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
In grad school, and you know, to be the first
active duty Army officer to be crown Miss USA is
deeply humbling and also very meaningful to me, and I
hope to continue to let my story be just one
of the examples of ways that you can serve both
in and out of a uniform.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
I have a twenty one year old daughter who's a
junior at the United States Coast Guard Academy right now. Awesome,
And I will tell you, as the father of a
daughter in the military, and how empowering it must be
to be a woman in the military who is in
a Miss USA. But frankly, Miss USA is seen by
many objectifying, objectifying women. Yet here you are bursting through
(14:31):
those barriers as a West Point graduate, a master's candidate, acond,
a first lieutenant, now as a military officer.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Do do you feel the weight of that? Do you
feel how that is groundbreaking?
Speaker 5 (14:42):
You know, I think that it's very meaningful to know
that all these things have come about in my life.
But I truly believe that talit is to serve, and
so the biggest thing that I can hopefully do with
this platform that I've been blessed with is to show
people that that there are no limitations on people's ability
(15:03):
to be multifaceted and be of service to others. I
truly believe that the one thing that the Army has
truly taught me is the motto be all you can be,
and to every day strive to be of service to
others and really lean into that motto of be all
that you can be.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
What's next for you?
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Cooper Well, I.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
Would say again, there's over tuner career paths in the Army,
and when I look into the future of my career,
I hope to, you know, create my own path. As
to what that looks like. Coming from a math nerd,
I know there truly is something for everyone, whether you're
into maths, cybersecurity, computers, data analytics, there truly is something
for everyone. So I hope to you know, continue to
(15:43):
continue with a service, but also know that again with
all those career paths, there's there's its own path for me,
and I'm gonna follow it.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Second Lieutenant Alma Cooper, Miss USA, twenty twenty three, graduate
of West Point Man, Congratulations, Thank you so much, all
the best to you. Thank you for sitting down and
joining us at the Army Navy game.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
Thank you, appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
Beat Navy Navy.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Indeed, Man, that's second tenant olmicom, Miss USA. I'm gonna
call it Lieutenant Cooper first, Miss USA. Second, that's not
how most nollah joining us here from Arlington, Virginia at
the Army Navy Game. More coming up on a Monday
here on ninety three point three kJ RFM. Welcome back
(16:27):
to the Greg Bell Show with Christopher Kidd on a Monday,
A choose Chill Monday, taking you up to Monday Night Football.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
Bears add Vikings and Seahawks.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Next two opponents are on Monday Night Football tonight and
five pm here on ninety three point three KJRF and
the interness is going to join us at eleven forty five,
leading into his show twelve to three with Jessamin McIntyre,
who just came back with me yesterday from Washington, d C.
In the Army Navy game, trying to read your text
back and tell them what to tex sign four nine,
four to five one.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
When it's game time, It's Tully time, all right.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
From the two to six, this is simple. Sam Howell
is no Drew Locke. What was the difference? What are
you trying to say there? I'm not sure.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
From the two factory, it doesn't matter who you put
under center for the Seahawks. They don't fix the offensive line.
Tom Brady himself couldn't do anything back there. I think
Greg and I have talked about that quite a bit enough.
But yeah, the offensive line didn't help yesterday. But I
also thought I'll have to go back on. We watched
the game again, but it wasn't all on the old line.
(17:32):
I mean, hell, Gino's interception, that's not an on line
thing that he was falling back under pressure, but the
decision was not the line thing exactly, take the points
or attempt three points there live with that.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
I think I think, excuse me, I think the Drew
Locke reference was because he subbed for injured you know
Smith last year and beat the Eagles on Monday Night football.
But he had a full week of preparation to do that.
A little bit different situation getting thrown into the middle
of the game like whenn't last night? Haven't wow? One
time Locke came in the middle game he lost against
(18:03):
the Rams when Smith was injured.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Durga game last year. What are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Green Bay threw out a whole bunch of different plays
that the Seahawks hadn't seen before. Are you watching a
different game? Green Bay just ran simple dive plays all
the time, ran down their throat, and they kept doing
it because they weren't stopping them. It was just power
eye off the tackle and that's it.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
It was dressed up differently though, the motions, all of
that plays a big factor into why the c why
Ernest Jones talked about even Mike McDonald, they dressed it
up differently. Sure, sure they ran the same play of concept,
but they made it look different. That's what makes a
good route runner, someone that's able to run any route
off the route treet, but it makes it look as
(18:42):
if he's doing I don't know, the same route he's
always done, which is maybe a slant, but it's dressed
up differently. I think that's the confusion there. Yeah, they
might have ran that same specific play over and over
and over again. But when you have jet motion, when
you have number eleven going behind the running back, going
behind the quarterback, the linebackers are watching that and that's
moving them out of position. So when they do run
(19:04):
an eye formation right up the gut, your linebackers now
out of the gap that he needs to be in
and you're gashed. So that was my earlier take about
the Green Bay Packers efficiently running the football and dressing
it up differently, because they did run, in theory, the
same play, but it was just dressed up differently. This
is from two six. Gino he's not the guy, and
(19:26):
Sam Howe has definitely not the guy. But Gino seems
to not make the best decisions. Those beautiful ball just
not to the right spots. I always removed for Gino,
but he seems to always miss the obvious those in
critical situation. Also forget the season ticket holders who sail.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Yeah, my chies heads in the stands last night. We
talked about that, said the lead to my story at
thenewstribute dot com with the video of it.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
Greg Wood's a friend of ours.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
The Spokesman Review Washington State Beat writers reporting that quote.
Early indications are the WSU quarterback John Mattias set to
enter the transfer portal, entering his three years tenure with
the Cougs. Coach Jake Dicker to scheduled the peak speak
with the media right about now, actually, and we'll get
his thoughts then. Greg Woods says, there's multiple reports that
Matier is entering the transfer portal with Oklahoma considered a
(20:13):
likely suitor because the offensive coordinator this past season for
the Cougars is now OU's offensive coordinator. And so it
goes in college football, krug couldn't raise enough money and
out the door goes their quarterback John Mattier.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
Apparently, according to multiple reports.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
From the four to two five, get ready for a
ton of Minnesota Viking fans they love traveling to Seattle.
Is there any truth to that? But hey, we'll find
out next week. This is from the four to two five.
Do you know through another pick in the end zone?
How did about the same thing. Hawks just need a
new quarterback. They got a lot of morshes and a quarterback.
(20:52):
This is from the two five to three in one
game last year on a Monday night, Drew Locke interviewed
with the rest of the league and ensured his value
as an NFL quarterback for the next ten seasons. With
one game against the Eagles. Sam Howe did not make
the best of his opportunity. Well, if Gino is out,
he does have an opportunity. It won't be prime time,
but he definitely have an opportunity to have a game
(21:14):
where he showcases his skills set to run the Seahawks offense.
I do think that he was kind of thrown into
the fire. They didn't give me any any layups. They
were just like, hey, drop back and throw the football.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
Man.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
We got a score here, and that's a lot to
ask from a backup.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
But it was still only twenty to six with five
minutes stuft in the third quarter, and I don't think
running the ball and easing him into the game would
have been the worst thing in the world. Yeah, this
is from a two o six.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
I don't trust John Sneyn to make any decisions for
the offensive line or at quarterback. I'm not disagreeing with
that it hasn't been good. You can weigh all of
his pros and cons. I think his pros that still
outweighs cons because the cons are honestly, the offensive line
has just not been good for forever. It seems like
(22:03):
since they made that one trade that we all know about.
But outside of that, he's had really good deals that I've.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Gone well Leonard Williams for example, from the Jones.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
But then again, you can also say, well, why did
the Seahawks in fact need and Ernest Jones. Will starts
with not bringing back Jordan Brooks. There lies problem number one.
You go out and try to get Jerome Baker, that
doesn't pan out, end up trading a linebacker mid season.
That can all be also pointed at John Schneider. So
it's an interesting discussion around John.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
But I am not I'm not saying I don't trust him.
I just he has to be better. How about that.
Speaker 3 (22:41):
Let's wait and see how howell we'll do after a
week with the Ones before we write them off.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
And that's from the forty five.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
I agree, but boy man, it looked like what I
saw from training camp, and I'm sure Greg he saw
it a lot more during training camp.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
We were talking about in the press box during the
game last night. Those were us, the beat writers who
covered training camp every day. They brought that up after
the first drive.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
We went, hmmm, four two five.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
As disappointed as I am in the result last night,
I am as disappointed, if not more, with the fan base.
M Yeah, the twelves were not. On a night the
team celebrated his quote fans. He puts quotes some fans
and a chance to really get into the playoff race.
Luman was half full.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
Of Packers fans that should never have happened.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Embarrassing, empathetic for the fans that actually showed up, tired
of going to away games at Lumen.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Some of this is a chicken and egg proposition.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
If you if you win games at home, then Seahawks
season ticketers who spent through the nose to get tickets
will come to the games. When you're losing home games,
those people are gonna want to recoup some of their
costs instead of watching.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Their home team lose. So there's a little bit of
chasing your own tail to that.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
No doubt, last night was Chee said central, and I
have not heard to Chris's point, I've not heard opposing
team's chance that loud during a game. And it started
in the first drive. It started pregame, go Pack.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
Go Yeah, I mean yeah, that's I guess this is
the new era right now. So unless until the Seahawks
win games, those season ticket holders are probably gonna continue
giving them away. From the two to oh six, I'll
take Ernest Jones over Brooks any day of the week,
that's fine. But I'm saying how they got to that
point was because they didn't bring back books. They wouldn't
(24:22):
be in this situation if they had just re signed
Brooks because I thought Brooks was a staple on this defense.
So that's just where I'm at with it. Three Army's
downfall began the second you gave away. They round the
sound golf passes to the squid. Well, yeah, we're just
gonna leave that at that.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
That makes me laugh. Congratulations in Navy. Yes, they beat Army.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Those you that I think I can went up to
that still had an unbelievably enriching weekend with playing.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Comes Marcus from the two oh six. I don't think
the game was close as the store as the game indicates,
not ones that. I think we had a chance right before.
They should have been pick right for the interception should
have been interception. I said a text saying, how getting
in the red zone for this team isn't good. Yeah,
it hasn't been an effective thing for them this season.
They get into the red zones, you know, it's missed
(25:11):
on a couple of throws. Hell, last week, he missed
Farrell Brown on a mesh concept and Farrel was wide open.
Should have been a touchdown, but he just missed them.
And there have been multiple instances this season where when
they get to the red zone things fall the game.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
Miss Noah Fan on an out route on the one
yard line.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
You can't run the ball on the one after a penalty.
In that Jets game, it's first and goal from the
one and they cannot score. If there was slanted DK
with with sauce on them, that doesn't work out.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
They just have issues up front. No push, no push.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
When's the last time you saw an offensive even against
the Cardinals, that was the gap scheme we talked about,
but the actual push physically dominating in defensive line. When's
last said had happened.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Two six sys.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Greb needs to get out of the the NFL. No,
none says needs to get out of you. I'm sorry
misread that Grubb needs to get out of you, dub
and coach an NFL offense. This much passing doesn't work
ever once in nineteen ninety nine with ten Hall of Famers.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
It does when you have the tools needed.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
I look at the Chiefs, for example, they do a
great job of passing to set up the run, and
when they need to run the football, guess what they
can do. They can run the football. It's not as
if they can't. That's a team that's built around well.
When they're in their heyday with Tyreek, I mean even now,
I would say they're still built to throw the football,
but they can definitely run it as well, and they
have weapons where they can use them in the run game.
(26:39):
Xavier' Worthy and the Seahawks they have a problem with
the offensive line and they can't do a lot of
the things that they would like to do within Grubs system,
and that starts with the whole line. But I do
think he can make for instance, how many targets the
DK have last night four I think there needed to
be an assertive effort to get him the football more like,
I know they're.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Double coverage, yeah, guitar, but.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Went away from it.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Jackson'sent. The Jag got twelve targets and ten cats exactly.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
There has to be an attempt to give him the
football because I don't think in the fourth quarter he
got a target. I know Gino got hurt held on
the third court. I think he had one, and I
think to end the game he only had three catches.
There has to be more of an emphasis to try
to get him in the game because when you go
back and you can see the replays, yes, teams are
doubling tripling him, but usually what happens is someone else
is eating. But on Sunday against the Packers, there just
(27:28):
wasn't any of that. Sure Jas was eating, but it
was twenty to six at one point. It didn't feel
as if the game was being dictated by what the
offense was doing. It was like the Packers are saying,
you can't do this, and if you can't do this,
we're just gonna beat you down. And that's exactly what
it looked like. The offensive line. I can't I what
seven sacks last night I know a lot of quarterback
(27:50):
seven sacks. Yeah, it was a rough day. I was
thinking Gino's gonna get hurt on this game, and unfortunately
he did, but he jumped in the air on that throw.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
But nonetheless from the two oh said Greg, great work
covering the Army game. It was awesome to see and
hear all the interactions with fellow soldiers and officers you provided.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
Including the video on those push ups.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
Ha.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
I'm glad I read that because I'm glad someone recognized
that during the game on Saturday, because it's somebody on
the text line told me and dared me and said
I had to do it. When the Army team frid
and Dreams scored seven points and first seven points of
the game, I dropped and did push ups right there
in section one oh one, right above the fifty yard line.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
And my daughter did as well, Coastguard kidat next to me.
So yeah, we did it. But it was thank you.
We got a glot.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Jessen and McIntyre and I have gotten emails text messages
from all over the country and the world actually, including
from the Armed Forces about our show.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
If you missed it, go.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
The iHeartRadio app downloaded for free on ninety to three
kjar dot com and Grego Show with Christopher Kidd on Friday,
and you can relive what we did. How is not
an NFL quarterback of two oh six? Says the Washington
Commanders are laughing at us. Well, you know, John Snyder
sees something that we didn't.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
But have you seen the mayor?
Speaker 6 (28:57):
Yed?
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Greg? No, No, I've to see the mayor, but I'm
sure he's floating around somewhere. Ian Forness, the Mayor makee
Vley is going to join us next heading into his
show from twelve to three on a Choose Chill Monday,
We're taking you right up to Monday Night football Bears
at Vikings at five o'clock on ninety three point three
kJ RFM. Welcome back to the Greg Belt Show with
(29:25):
Christopher Kid on a Choose Chill Monday, which will take
you right through Dave, Softy Maller and Dick Fame from
the Emeral Queen Casino right through the Great Ian Forness
and his show with Jessmon mcintime from twelve to three
to Monday Night football at five pm. The Bears at
the Vikings at Seahawks next two opponents, the Seahawks, last
opponent from the NFC North, kind of handled business last night.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
No, sir, man, go Pack go. From the beginning of
the game, from the first play. Those chances started pregame
and never ended.
Speaker 6 (29:51):
It's readily apparent they can't play with the big guys
right in the NFC or just in the NFL as a.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Whole, right Boston Buffalo Rams, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6 (30:02):
I mean the Lions doesn't matter. It's what the one
one win this year against team with the winning record
is against the first ever started Bo Nicks and Denver, Right,
So they got a ways to go. Mike McDonald's got
a ways to go, His staff has a ways to go.
They they were just thoroughly outclassed in every sense yesterday.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
I thought I never felt like they were gonna win.
Not even if if Genosen doesn't throw that red zone
interception they score a touchdown there. How are they going
to stop Jacobs in Love for the rest of the game.
Speaker 6 (30:33):
Yeah, No, they weren't because they didn't know, you know,
I mean when they scored the first four possessions of
the game, did Green Bay and never looked back. Just
just disappointing on a lot of levels that you know,
you think you're taking steps forward. It's a league filled
with parody, but yet you're not close to those teams,
Like not close?
Speaker 1 (30:53):
How they are?
Speaker 5 (30:53):
You know?
Speaker 6 (30:54):
And look, the Rams beat Buffalo last week, right, like
they're they're easily better than Seattle is not even close?
Like so I know that we're all hoping and I hope.
So I hope they get to that last game and
it means something. But what would your level of confidence
be that they could win that last game? Like pretty small?
Speaker 2 (31:11):
Right?
Speaker 1 (31:13):
You know, the defense is their only hope. And when
the defense gets beat, they're done. They're done. Yeah, they
can't outgun good teams. Yeah, yeah, the the offensive line
and the problems they continue to have that and then
Geno Smiths decision making in the red zone five red
zone interceptions now leads the NFL one more than Sam Darnold.
(31:34):
And I mean those are basically two score plays, giving
up your score and given the team the ball to
go back and score again. You can't win games when
you're that I got that many issues.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
That just what happens to him when I mean we
got hardcore football with few today at one? What happens
to him when he gets there I don't get it.
I know it's just awes.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
It's not just the interceptions. Chris and I have been
talking about the misthrows in the red zone, wide open receivers,
a fan on the go on against the Jets, Tharrough
Brown last week. He just missing dudes. It is unusual.
You're right, for a thirty four year old veteran quarterback
to have almost the yips inside the red zone.
Speaker 6 (32:11):
And his just his interception rate being so much higher
this year than last year is a concern moving forward.
Like it's a big concern moving forward.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
You know.
Speaker 6 (32:21):
In the Sam Hal thing, I know there's been people screaming,
you knowing to see Sam Hel. Then there's people are saying, oh,
look at Sam Hell didn't do last night. We was
remember Sam Hal. And I'm not saying go to Sam
Hell before they by any means. But that's an impossible situation. Yeah,
you're getting boat raced, your team's getting pushed around. Your
offensive line is a disaster. You got a backup, you
got effectively a third or four string center, whatever you
(32:42):
want to call it at that point, to get your
fourth right guard playing, and you don't get any reps during.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
The week, right like real reps not told me he
does a shadow throwing, right, But that's not you're not
running the game plan?
Speaker 2 (32:54):
No, no, so but why do you run the do
you throw the ball? Twelve concerns? That's the part that
nobody can figure out. That's it. You may run a
twelve consecutive time.
Speaker 6 (33:04):
I mean, at least a little bit, like give them
a chance.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
What was it the fourteen The first fifteen plays that
that samhow ran were passes and the only run was
a twenty four yard touchdowns?
Speaker 2 (33:16):
Rightbernating?
Speaker 6 (33:17):
Right, Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
Didn't matter.
Speaker 6 (33:21):
You got out class last night. You had no like
that just as a game. You just didn't. You just
weren't in.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
What do you think Sam I was taking in the
huddle when these plays kept coming in? Oh okay, you
want me to throw? Okay, I'm throwing again?
Speaker 6 (33:32):
Probably thinking cool man, I'm a free agent after this year.
Let me check it around a little bit after next year. Yeah, yeah,
after next year. But you know, I mean it's it's
I was thinking about this today. I mean, there, it's
a frustrating place they're in right now. I don't know
what's worse that or if you're the Detroit Lions with
these high expectations, what a great season you're having rolling along.
Now it's going to be a struggle for you just
(33:52):
to win the division. And even if you get, you know,
even whatever happens for you in the playoffs, you're so
decimated by injuries.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
Like, I don't know what's worse.
Speaker 6 (34:01):
I mean, I guess you'd rather be in the playoffs,
but I mean that team's a shell of its former self.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
And now we've got four playoff teams playing three games
in eleven days. Thanks to Christmas and Wednesday games and
everything else, the injuries are going to continue to.
Speaker 6 (34:13):
Pile up Wednesday Christmas games. It's the dumbest thing in
the world. It's just the dumbest thing.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
The greatest is when in the day after no picnic eater,
I get to fly on a plane Christmas.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
At least it's Thursday. It's least Thursday.
Speaker 6 (34:24):
At least Thursday at football, because that's because that's that
you're used to that a little bit.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
The worst of going to those games and you've been
there is to go Christmas Day to Arrowhead Stadium. It's
ten degrees and the people that are making minimum wage
are out there, the parking attendants and concessionaires all for television.
Speaker 6 (34:40):
I'm sick and this is the first time. It's also
me this weekend the first time in a long time
that I haven't traveled on Christmas or Thanksgiving. Good for
you don't miss it one second, especially with what I
just saw yesterday. I mean that Bears game will be
it's it's no, I mean no, Well, I don't think.
I think they're a piece of garbage. That team too,
(35:02):
so I don't know if you if you can't beat
those guys like well, I guess they struggle with the Jets,
So a good point, right, they struggle with the Jets.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
I think this is a problem for them. They're gonna
leave on Christmas Day, three days after playing the Vikings. Yeah,
I think that game's a problem. Yeah. Who the Bears
have is that next week? You know, I don't rams
have at Jets versus Cardinals before the Seahawks.
Speaker 6 (35:27):
Come on, Aaron Rodgers, let's do it, Aaron Rodgers, what
do you get today?
Speaker 2 (35:31):
Hardcore football?
Speaker 6 (35:31):
Humul at one o'clock and then Mike Sandle at two
will just jump into Seahawks and all the other goings
on this weekend as well coming up in the noon.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
Hour, so Bears have the Lions at home.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
Before the Seahawks. The ain't no picnic either, exactly.
Speaker 6 (35:43):
Battle of Attrition on Boxing Day, Boxing Day, Boxing Day.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Up next is the inf Net So this show Jess
Ben McIntyre from twelve to three, Dave Softy Maller and
Dick Fane will take you from three until Monday Night
Football at five pm. I mean they'll be from the
Emeral Queen Casino before the Bears play at the Vikings,
the Seahawk's next two opponents on Monday Night Football to
night on five o'clock. Greg Bell, Christopher Kidd, thanking you
