Speaker 1 (00:06):
Welcome back to the Greg Belt Show with Christopher Kidd.
I am at the Virginia Mason Athletics in their Seahawks
headquarters in advance of their practice today Thursday, three days
before they play the Arizona Cardinals for first place in
the NFC West. Christopher Kid and I tomorrow will be
at Husky Stadium for the High School State Football Championship,
broadcasting the game live with the three to a final

(00:27):
between o Day and Bellevue at seven pm from Husky Stadium.
John Manley of the News Tribune, Washington State Sports Writer
of the Year nominee for twenty twenty four, joins us
next right after Headlines brought you by Frostbury, a Corslet
choose Jim Coach Mike McDonald is back with the Seahawks fully.
He left the team money to be with his wife
Stephanie for the emminent birth of their first child, and

(00:49):
it was born on Tuesday night. Jock David McDonald was born.
The proud first time dad back now with the Seahawks
and then shuttling in the evening pact Asso see mom
and baby his wife Stephanie, their first child, thirty seven
year old rookie coach returned to a punter situation. Place
coaker Jason Myers was punting in practice yesterday. Michael Dixon

(01:10):
was standing a few hours away watching. He's still feeling
backspasm that sidelined him in the third quarter Sunday of
the Seahawks went at the Jets. The Seahawks listed Dixon
yesterday as a limited practice participant, which means he took
part in some part. McDonald said the Seahaws are quote
optimistic Dixon can punt Sunday at the Cardinals. When I
asked McDonald, that means they aren't going to sign a punter,

(01:31):
The coach said, that's on the table, that's still a possibility.
Dixon is also the holder for Myers's place kicks. Backup
tight end Brady Russell is practicing holds this week. The
Seahawks is winning named Uchenna and Wilster their linebacker their
nominee for the twenty twenty four NFL Walter Payton Mann
of the Year Award. DK Metcalf said he was scared
when he was down hurting the third quarter Sunday at

(01:52):
the Jets. Asked if he was thought he was seriously heard,
he said, Hell yeah, He said he had no feeling
in his foot, and the only other time that he
had felt numbness in the extremities was when he broke
his neck on a kickoff his final year at Mississippi
in twenty eighteen. Turned out he had gotten on Sunday
against the Jets, hit by Quincy Williams, the linebacker on

(02:14):
a pass play down I Field hit in a nerve
right on the knee that caused numbness down to his foot,
but then it went away, came out two plays, went
back in and finished the game. He said he's fine
and felt a night. Ninety three Packers eleven and one
Lions Green Band Minnesota comfortably in the wildcard spots in
the NFC, but this is the Packers last chance to
catch the Craig for the NFC Nord title. The Packers

(02:35):
at nine to three in a ten and two Bikings
play at the Seahawks the next two weeks back to
back after this one, and WNBA's Storm leading scorer Joel Lloyd,
the WNBA's leading score in twenty twenty three, has asked
the Storm to trader. The Chicago Sun Times reports the
trade request came about an hour or so yesterday after
the Storm announced an independent investigation. The team had lined

(02:57):
up for allegations of bullying by coaches this past season
turned up nothing. Lloyd is a six time All Star
in the franchise player for Seattle by far. She's in
the contract through next year.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Not here there.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
College basketball, Creighton won at home last night over number
one Kansas Duke at home, gave Auburn its first loss
of the season and an NBA. The Lakers lost by
forty one at Miami last night, and in college football
in just the last hour, lead running back Wayshawn Parker
has announced on social media that he is leaving Washington
State and entering the transfer portal after one season, with

(03:31):
three years of eligibility remaining.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Man, he's just the.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Exodus and good players from Washington State continuing four nine,
four five one and tell them we'll do text on
your reaction to that. And college football. The state it
is right now, high school football. The state it is
right now is the state championships. John Manley, Washington State
Sports Writer the Year nominee for twenty twenty four The
Great Colleague of Mind from the News Tribune. He continues

(03:57):
his weekly visit with us right now to Beacon Plumbing
Hotline to talk about the state championships at Husky Stadium
this weekend, starting to Morrow Ning Tomorrow morning, Good morning, John.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Morning, Greg.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Thanks for having me on. I can't believe we're already here.
I'm sure you feel the same way about Seahawks in
the NFL's you just blink of an eye and you're
into the postseason.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
And you're still doing high school soccer and it's just ended,
or is it still going on?

Speaker 4 (04:25):
No, soccer ended a couple of weeks ago, and state
volleyball was east of the Mountains this year that ended.
So football is the last fall sport left and basketball
is actually underway as well, but we don't really shift
our focus fully to that until football's over, which.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Will be on Saturday night with the four A State
Final at Husky Stadium between Camus and Sumner. Sumner pulled
off a trick, didn't they last weekend in triple overtime
rallying to win over Chihuana. And you'd said Tijuana that
it was a good team coming across the mountains to
play them. How do you see the four A final?
It's chalk all the way through, and in fact, it's

(05:05):
chalk through every classification except I think one B is
the only one that's not one versus two, and that's
one versus three. So I'm assuming you expected this final,
and what are you expecting between in the four A
final between Summer and Campus.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Well, I think I expected chalk in most of them.
The four A we had talked about I felt felt
was the most wide open, and we talked about how
any number of teams had a chance to win it.
So I don't know, I think it's kind of funny
it ended up being chalk and in one versus two.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
But yeah, it's not surprising.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
These are probably the two most complete teams going into
this tournament. And like you said, triple overtime, I mean,
Sumner is trailing by fourteen and half. You know they
needed to figure things out. They get a rally, they
went and triple overtime. There their kicker, by the way,
Austin Perenz, he hit two forty two yard field goals

(05:57):
in the second half, and that's that's really rare at
the high school level. I know a lot of programs
they struggle to even get a kicker that could make
an extra point. So to have someone who can nail
from forty plus yards at the high school level. That's
a that's a luxury that that Keith.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Ross has on his hands.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
But but yeah, good for them. Just a great scene.
It sounded like a celebration in Sumner. And Peter Ross
has been the coach there for over twenty years and
he's knocked on the door a lot of times, but
he's never played in an inn A state championship game,
so good for him. He lives in Breeze football. And
they're gonna play number one Camus, who they they had

(06:36):
to kind of do the same thing.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
They were gone.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Zacha Prep led most of the game in that game,
but no panic from Camus. They outscored on Zaga Prepp
twenty one zero. In the fourth quarter, Jake Davidson's sixty
nine yard touchdown pass to Chase McGee is the is.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
The game winner. And Campus has done this a couple
of times now.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
They were only leading Number sixteen Curtis nine to six
at the half in the opening round of this tournament,
and then they went on to win.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Forty one to six.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
So if I'm Sumner and I'm Keith Ross, and maybe
this sounds obvious, but you know, I think you want
to jump out to an early league because Camus, for
whatever reason, seems to be a second half team.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
But yeah, I don't know. I I kind of like Sumner.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
I just feel like they got this team of destiny
thing going on.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
You know.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Steve Isaac's their running back, said after the game, I
feel like I have to do it for Keith Ross.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
I owe it to him.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
They really feel passionately about winning a state championship for
Keith Ross. And the common thread I've covered a lot
of state championship teams over the years, and the common
thread I kind of see is they're just confident. These
teams are confident, and I sense that with Sumner before
the season. I think Carter Coque their tight end. He's
kind of their their alpha male, and and I think

(07:50):
he kind of sets the tone. He said before the year,
you know, we're gonna go win. We're gonna go get
Keith Ross a rings. So I like Sumner, I think
it's gonna be a close game. Like most of the
plassific this.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Year, you can hear whether coach Keith Ross and Sumner
wins the state championship in four A on Saturday Night
seven PM. Mike Benton will have the call here live
on ninety three point three KJRFM. Chris and I will
be in Husky Stadium tomorrow night, seven pm. Number two
oh Day, number one Bellvue. This seemed to be predestined
from the start, and it became the Metro League Invitational

(08:22):
after whow except for Bellevue. We've talked about this a
couple times, John, But do you if there is one
team that can derail Bellevue? Perhaps it's Oday, but do
you see anything preventing Bellevue from winning a state championship again?

Speaker 3 (08:37):
Yeah, I think they have a shot.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
And but o'dei, you get kind of a miracle that
even get into this game.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
But they got a late fifty.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
Nine yard pass to a polo Benkaro's younger brother Leo.
He splits two defenders, catches that and then he's off
to the races with just I think under thirty seconds
left on the clock to win that game against Eastside
Catholics seventeen to fourteen. So they needed a late miracle
to get in. But you know, it's the state tournament roles.

(09:08):
Sometimes one big play is the difference, and so they're
in the State championship game, and yeah, I think they
can absolutely give Bellevue a game. I just Bellevue pulled
away late from Roosevelt. That's just kind of what they do.
They just wear teams down there. They're line, they're so
good upfront, and they're running back. Max Jones had the
buck twenty two touchdowns. I think we're gonna see a

(09:31):
really close game at half. Both these teams are really
good upfront. They both want to run the football. They're
really good on defense. But Chris is not gonna want
to hear this. But I just think Bellevue eventually wears
them down.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
And yeah, I don't think.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
I don't think anyone was gonna beat this team this year.
And I'm gonna stick with that.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
That's fair.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
I can't be mad at that. Good analysis all the
way through. I understand it. You gotta stick with your gut.
Give me the points spread. Is it Bellevue favored by
a kids, which you got?

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Yeah, I'm not a betting expert.

Speaker 6 (10:06):
You know you don't have to be. It's okay.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
I guess I think that would be. I think I
would be terrible at that. But I think I think
Bellevue probably by a touchdown, I would guess I think
it's probably a.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Low scoring game.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
I think you could see a twenty one to fourteen
or something kind of in in that range. But I think, yeah,
like I said, I think Bellevue just wears teams down
over time, and and they're so good and and I think, uh,
I'm not I'm not sure Odeay has the firepower to
be able to pull this one out.

Speaker 5 (10:31):
Got a quick, Oh, John, real quick? What who has fate?
Who played Bellevue the best this season through those twelve games?
Who do you think matched them right there? And maybe
in the second half they just pulled away, But who
was right there with them? Maybe was their last matchup?

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Well, it's probably Roosevelt.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Yeah, in the in the semi finals. That was a
close game. I think it was a one or two
point game in the third quarter. And you know, so
that's that's I think that's the recipe for Oday. Keep
it tight, and then they've got to be able to
hit some explosive plays in the passing game, and maybe
maybe ban Carro is the answer, and then you know,

(11:10):
maybe he can go up. He's a really good receiver
and obviously his everyone knows his brother's pretty pretty.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Good player in the NBA. So you know, I think
they have.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
A chance that they're just gonna They're gonna have to
hit them explosive plays in the passing game and hopefully
they can go maybe go into halftime with the lead.
I think if Bellevue has to play from behind and
running the wing te maybe that's your your recipe for
an upset.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
That game might last an hour and a half. John Tomorrow,
both teams running the way they do in two A.
You've told me throughout the Tumwaters collision course at the
final but that there's one team that can challenge him.
It's Anacordas. Tumwater just steamrolled Archistop Murphy forty two nothing.
They won seventy to seven in the state quarterfinals. Here
they are and they get Anacordas, which woul beat WF

(11:56):
West by three touchdowns last week. You've told me I
think a couple of times Anna Cordas has got something
here for tom Water. Do you see it to be close?

Speaker 7 (12:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (12:05):
Absolutely, And speaking of point spreads, I had joked that
tom Water was a forty nine points favorite in the
semi finals gets arch Bishop Murphy. They only won forty
two to zero, so they didn't quite cover. But they're
just they are a machine right now. Greg, I mean,
I don't know what it is. I kind of thought,

(12:26):
you know, maybe we might get a close game with
Archbishop Murphy. Archbishop Murphy's the only team that had beaten
Anna Chordis in the last two years, and to Water
just completely shut them down.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
And that's why I and yes, I do think.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
Ana Chordis brothers Brady and Brock Beaner, they're both going
to Montana. They have a really good receiver, Ryland Lang,
their quarterbacks efficient, they spread the ball around. I think
they can absolutely give them a game and potentially repeat
and win another state title. But I just liked some
Water in this matchup. I think they're gonna win. I

(12:59):
think are gonna beat them.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
This time around.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
I had I had talked with Willie Garrow, to Waters coach,
and he's not shy about last year's game, and he said, yeah,
we got our buck kicked last year. That there's there
team picked us our secondary part. And he really kind
of did some soul searching after that game. And and
he went to UH teams that are used to defending

(13:22):
UH pass heavy teams and and women kind of into
the four A ranks, talked to some people from Graham
Capalisen from from Bosball.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
I think locally. He talked with uh the coaching staff
at Lakes.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
Here H and just really wanted to kind of figure
out how you're gonna go up against a good passing
attack like that. UH, And they changed some things schematically.
They're playing with an an extra defensive back this year.
So I just think I think they're better prepared this
time around to handle that challenge. You have Elijah Tucker
on the defensive line also, UH he's going to Wallzoo.

(13:54):
And then Beckett Waalder linebacker. He just lived in that
opposing backfield against archbishopmer we have five tackles for loss.
He is really good. I just think their defense is
playing on another level this year. And I think this
is probably their best defense since their twenty nineteen team
when they beat Stillicam in the and Mecca Buco's at

(14:14):
Ohio State. Now they beat that team in the state
championship game, and I just think they might be the
best regardless of classification. So I think they're going to
get in accordas this time around. But yeah, I mean
I think Anacortis will hit some explosive plays and it's
just about to water kind of weather in that storm.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
But I like the t Birds this time around.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
In Class one A, we talked about Royal and Royal
City and those guys just steamrolling everybody. They beat Kashmir
forty four to seven in the state semifinals. Now they
get Seaton Catholic, another one to two matchup, but I
have a feeling it's one is way ahead of two
here in one at least you expect.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Right, Yeah, And I think they've had a similar run
as far as points brought the tumwater and they forty
more to seven over Kashmir in the state.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Semi finals last week.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
And yeah, I've said this from the beginning until someone.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Proves otherwise, it's Royal for me.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
You know.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
They they just win state titles. It almost seems like a.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
Formality playing the play in the one A state tournament.
But they're just so good and they're they're complete, and
they play good defense. Their their quarterback wins all read
last week, four passing touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Two rushing touchdowns. He they kind of get him out
out of the pocket.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
You gotta worry about him running and he's mobile, but
he can also make throws downfield, and they're so good
in the screen game. They'll hit you with some some
wide receiver screens and they can really just gash you.
So uh yeah, I went with Royal.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
From the beginning, and I'm gonna stick with stick with
Royal in this one.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
The only non one to two matchup in the state
championships of anti classes in Class two B, Napavine is
the three seed against number one Okanagan. Has you've written
John for the News Tribune nine in a row for
Napaville or Napavine, excuse me? And the only two for
Napavine have been to one A programs back in September
life Christian Academy in Montesino. Can Napavine win the state title?

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
And it's a you know, you see the Napavine and
Okanagan all the time and they seem to always be
in the picture. I'm gonna go with the one seed,
but yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
It's interesting.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
It's it's not a one to two matchup in this
one like it is, But yeah, I would I would
expect the close game.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
And Napavine's playing really good defense.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
They no one's really been able to score on them
in this tournament, so I yeah, I could see another
kind of low scoring bruiser of the game. But I'll
take the one seed in Okanagan.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
In Class one being the state championship. Liberty Christian is
the number one seed against number two will Percrest in
color any opinions on that, and then whether the one
gets knocked off there.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
Yeah, this one's interesting. Wilbert Creston Keller scored ninety four
points and it's it's not eleven minute football, but ninety
four points. They in the state opener, and their offense
has just been on fire. Ninety four points, fifty six points,
fifty two points, So I think this could be kind
of a shootout. I could see, you know, fifty something

(17:11):
forty something. I think it could go either way. I
don't think Liberty Christians necessarily the heavy favorite in this one.
Watch out for wilvercrest and Keller's offense. I think if
if they keep humming like that, they can pull the
upset in this one as well.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
John, are there any blue chip guys that are not
committed or still waiting to sign that are in the
state championships or any other players to look for and
highlight in your in the games over the weekend.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
Yeah, I'm trying to think up the top of my head,
you know, to a Elijah Tucker, he's committed to Wazoo.
Like I had mentioned, the Beaner brothers going to.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
Montana. Three A yeah, you know, three A. BELvue is loaded,
especially on the line.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
They got one of their line is going to USC
the other one's going to Oregon, right, and then O'Day's
got a really good edge rusher six, two hundred and
fifty pound junior David two hundred and fifty five pound
junior David Schwartzel. He's got offers from the U DOW
for Michigan and others. And yeah, and for a Sumner

(18:20):
doesn't really have Brayln Pope there. They're a sophomore receiver.
He's getting powerful looks and he has big time offers.
But they don't necessarily have, you know, one superstar, and
I don't think Camus does either. They're both just so complete,
you know, kind of at every level and on both
sides of the football.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
John Manley the best there is in the state. Washington
State Sports Writer the Year nominee for twenty twenty four.
To prove it, he joins us all months. We appreciate it.
I'll see you out at Husky Stadium tomorrow, John, and
looking forward to the coverage and the Washington State Football Championships.
Thanks a lot for all you do.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Thanks for having me see tomorrow, Greg, Thanks sir.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
Thank you. John Manley. The News Tribune preview in the
Washington State Football Championships Chris tomorrow. That Will willbrokcreston color
team in two A that scored ninety four points a
few weeks ago. That's the same. That's the game that's

will have the color analyst analysis, and then on Saturday,

(19:49):
the Class four A Championship, Camus the number one seed
against number two Sumner's seven pm Husky Stadium. Mike Benton
on the call live on ninety three point three KJRFM.
Up next, it'll be Factor of Fiction at eleven thirty five,
your chance to win one thousand dollars from the Ameral
Queen Casino, and right before that, your chance to be
a part of the show. When we reback your text
and the telemore two text line four nine four y

(20:10):
five to one. Are you going to be at at
the State Championships? How happy are you? I think the
answer is obvious that the games are in Husky Stadium,
even though it may be raining, such a great setting
for players to have a goal to reach Husky Stadium
and play. I got to play my State championship games
at Ohio Stadium the Horseshoe in Columbus, thirty five thousand people.

(20:30):
I'll never forget. It was an awesome experience. Got to
do it twice. It's really cool that the WI has
gotten it to where they're playing at Husky Stadium, and
Chris Kid and I will be there tomorrow as we
roll on from the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, Seahawks Headquarters
on ninety three point three KJRFM. Welcome back to the show,

(20:52):
Greg Bell at the Virginia Mason Athletics Center of the
Seahawks headquarters, three days before they play the Cardinals for
the NFC West League. Christopher Kid back in the based
studios in Seattle. Don't forget to crack in the night
four o'clock pre game four point thirty puck drop against
the Islanders on Long Island in New York. And then
Tomorrow night four PM against the Devils in New Jersey

(21:14):
and Newark. And then right after that we're gonna go
straight from cracking Devils to the three A State Championship
broadcast live O day against Bellevue from Husky Stadium.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
I will be there with Christopher.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Kidd tomorrow night trying to readback your text at four nine,
four five one on the Tulem'll do text line.

Speaker 5 (21:30):
With all the special teams drama going on with the Seahawks,
grad ass the simple question who do you want returning
punts and kicks in the two five three? You guys
know how kickoffward right with the new rule of Zach
is a great person for it. Maybe bulldoze, make one
guy miss, he'd be perfect. No, I disagree strongly. Yes
he can bulldoze, but I don't know if he's making

(21:52):
one guy miss.

Speaker 6 (21:53):
I'll be honest.

Speaker 5 (21:54):
He ain't shifty and that's okay, this is not his
game having me Dad, Greg.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
I agree all right Thereon their best option, I think
it should be Trey Brown Kenny.

Speaker 6 (22:02):
Mcintalk, Yes, all right.

Speaker 5 (22:05):
From Brent two o six, how about Leonard Williams at
this point, give him a shot. He can catch the
football and he's also a bulldozer, so have him punt too.
You know what, when they say the jack of all trade,
you think of one guy Leonard Williams Charbonne for punter
four two five. I don't you know what at this
point they probably needed. I don't know what their playing

(22:27):
is if Michael Dixon is unavailable, but that's the question.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
And when they go with Jason Myers, I think they'd
end up signing a guy instead. And then that Chennon
Wilson's they.

Speaker 5 (22:36):
View it would be a week later, yes that yeah,
we'll leave it at that. From the two o six,
I think Steve Rabel used to return punts back in
the day and he already is under crown contract for
the team.

Speaker 6 (22:47):
Ah, I see what you did there?

Speaker 1 (22:48):
Why not he already has a job.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
But from the better chance than Steve rabel.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
I hear you, Oh, our favorite one from a two
o six John and Jerry or cowards and that's from
Kyle out in ten More.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
Kyle is consistent man, exactly.

Speaker 5 (23:05):
Shame from three six so high school football. When private
schools like Seaton Catholic can recruit players, it creates an
unfair advantage.

Speaker 6 (23:12):
Private schools need to be in their own league.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
It's still plate for state title though. I mean every
state in the Union that I know, I don't know
of any state that separates their private schools for their
own championships that they eventually play for state title. But
I understand that there is not a level playing field.
That's part of the reason why we've talked to Mick
at the WIA, who the executive director, who has said
they're going to strongly consider and have a vote on

(23:38):
this spring and whether to have one time no questions asked.
Transfers for all schools, all sports, boys and girls, and
a lot of the public school coaches argue in that
point that they're getting out recruited essentially by private schools,
and that they think the transfer one time transfer rule
might help them that regard for public schools.

Speaker 5 (23:58):
From the four to two five here does Zach s
Roberne have info on coaches, owners or something crazy? He
plays in high leverage spots, more carries in the red
zone than K nine. Now he's returning punts and kicks.
I think Joe is just done with it. Much love,
thanks Joel.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
He's got pictures of somebody.

Speaker 5 (24:18):
It's it's something, but hey, if he can secure the football,
I understand why the Seahawks would do that. They're not
trying to have what they went what they went through
on last Sunday against the Jets. From the three, six
to zero on the Seahawks game, I think the Cardinals
get their run game going a little much, a little better,
but the defense continues to hold up for the most part.

Speaker 6 (24:37):
I think the.

Speaker 5 (24:37):
Offense finally plays a game that's not perfect but much
cleaner and shows what they can do a little. But
Gino will throw a really Gino will throw a pick.
Thirty seven to twenty Seahawks wins. I'll just thirty that
would be the most points they scored all season.

Speaker 6 (24:53):
Right, yeah, I.

Speaker 5 (24:57):
Think if I'm not mistaying twenty nine into tre it
was our eyes, well, that would shatter that. And it's
what week fourteen, so that would be huge.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
But Greg, I.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
Think we're inching closer to you giving well, actually it's
not you, but it's me giving listeners.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
Sad be Atlanta thirty four to fourteen.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
I've I forgot about that. Remember how bad the Falcons
were that day?

Speaker 5 (25:18):
Oh yeah, well, Kirk Cousins couldn't move. I was I
saw the writing on the wall. I'm not gonna lie
to you. He couldn't move.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
It makes you wonder if Michael Kennig is gonna start
a game or.

Speaker 6 (25:27):
If they lose one more. I think they give him
the keys.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
Four interceptions last week against the Chargers and they lost
seventeen thirteen.

Speaker 6 (25:33):
Yeah, lose again. Look at the keys.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
Now, it's time to win one thousand dollars. You're next
to last day of the contest from the Emerald Queen Casido,
the betting and entertainment capital of the Northwest.

Speaker 6 (25:44):
We're set to go.

Speaker 7 (25:44):
Glad you're with us, it's your shot at our weekly
thousand bucks. And the ten thousand dollars grand prize. It's
fact or Fiction, brought to you by the Emerald Queen Casino,
the betting capital of the Northwest. Make the beautiful New
EQUC Sports Bucky your home all football season long. Fact
or Fiction is on Sports Radio ninety three point three

(26:07):
kJ R FM.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Come on, Chris, give us a good one. It's your
last one. I know right, I'm pulling of the contest.
I'm pulling a page of the g Bell book. He
challenged Bucky yesterday with his pick. So you know what
I'm going to do. I'm going to challenge the show
right after us. Yeah, yeah, go ahead to a part

(26:32):
of screaming.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
No, don't do it, kid, but.

Speaker 6 (26:34):
I'm gonna do it. The Lion's gotta lose eventually. They
gotta lose eventually.

Speaker 5 (26:40):
Why not go to man, it'd be great. So you
know what, I'm going killing me.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
This is our chance to win the whole damn thing
for the station, and you're gonna pick the pack.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
I'm gonna put the Pack plus three and a half
at Detroit.

Speaker 6 (26:54):
Wow, give me the.

Speaker 5 (26:56):
Packers plus three and a half at Detroit. Me and
the mayor going neck and neck. Man all Man is right.
The Jordan loves in Detroit at Ford Field today. That's
five fifteen on nine fifty am. And you know what,
because we have pucks cracking on the FN, they ain't
gotta win the game. Actually, they just got to cover

(27:17):
the spread three and a half. Man, that's it. So
come on, help a brother out. Packers plus three and
a half at the Lions Thursday night football. It's gonna
be must watch TV battle for that division.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
You should have conferred on this. Why I'm trying to
win first place for the whole station and you're picking
the pack at the team.

Speaker 5 (27:36):
Well, let's let's make it couldn't lose. Let's go down
the list of things, Army. You like your pick there, right? Yeah,
that's one.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
Texas minus two and a half or nothing.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
Yeah yeah, yeah, Texas mind two. And I took Tampa
Bay minus seven versus the Raiders. I think we're three
and zero unless you think the Raiders are about to just.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
I like the Buccaneers one better than this.

Speaker 6 (28:00):
That's fair. Ally, Chris is.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Saying Packers tonight three plus three and a half on
the road at Detroit, m H. If you're a Greek
text factor four nine four to five one. If you
disagree with him, you think the Lions are gonna win
by four more points. Text fiction to four nine, four
to five one. You have about eleven minutes now and
after which time two thirty five the infin net will
be your next chance. Remember the contest ends on tomorrow.
Friday is the last chance to win ten thousand dollars

(28:24):
the grand prize one thousand dollars, a weekly prize from
the Emerald Queen to see him the betting and entertainment
capital of Northwest. Packers plus three and a half at
Detroit is Chris's pick.

Speaker 6 (28:34):
They're a little tired man. They just played last Thursday.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
You know they they Packers played Sunday.

Speaker 6 (28:40):
Oh you know, I guess both teams are tired. Who
wants it more?

Speaker 3 (28:43):
There?

Speaker 5 (28:44):
You go, give me a Packers plus three and a
half at the Lions, And my goodness, their entire team
is hurt.

Speaker 6 (28:50):
They gotta lose a introgue and their defense.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
I think there's only one starter from opening days still
on the Lions.

Speaker 6 (28:56):
And you know what, they're still winning.

Speaker 5 (28:57):
So maybe their lug runs out today and they ran
through the They just in November, their closest game was
I guess between the Bears and was the Bears and
the Texans.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
So this was they didn't stay within fourteen of the Jaguars.

Speaker 6 (29:12):
You know, we don't have to bring that up.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Greg, you didn't.

Speaker 5 (29:14):
You didn't need to know that out there, But it's okay.
Have you seen the Mayor? I heard he was down
right through the walls.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
Infernets, the Mayor and Maple Valley will join you here
from the Virginia Mason Athletics Center next the ninety three
point three kJ R FM. Welcome back to the Virginia
Mason Athletic Center, SEAX headquarters. Greg belvinews JABU and Christopher

(29:40):
Kidd and and for ness the man.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
Aple Valley has joined me.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
Hello from the closet, Hello, Hello, Hello, Cracking the night.
Can they string two in a row together? I guess
consistency is what they're looking for right at the island.

Speaker 8 (29:53):
The team that played Tuesday shows up tonight. Then they've
won the first two games on the trip.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
And then they get Devils tomorrow and Madison Square guard
for the Rangers on Sunday.

Speaker 8 (30:03):
Yeah, Devils will be tough because they're cracking have been
just awful in back to backs get to win one.
I've scored one goal in the back to back, so
I think so far this year. Yeah, so it's that'll
be a tough one tomorrow. Not that that's that's nothing
norm by the way, It just is what it's happened
with this team. But yeah, they if the team showed
up the other night, is and Joey's going tonight, which

(30:24):
surprised me.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
A little bit. Show the back to back they'll have grew.

Speaker 8 (30:29):
I'll go tomorrow and Joey on Tuesday or Sunday. And
I assume my assumption is from Florida's here, they'll go
back to the court on Tuesday in town.

Speaker 9 (30:36):
So yeah, it's uh, I don't.

Speaker 8 (30:39):
I don't know if you can trust Grooby right now,
to be honest with you, I don't know what you
do there. Burakowski's out again tonight, So.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
You can't move them. This contract too large, right, Yeah.

Speaker 8 (30:48):
Well you could if you was playing okay, But then
if he was playing okay, then you wouldn't want to
move them, right, But you can't stop a beach ball
from center ice right now, So it doesn't matter like
it is. It's and Joey, you can tell Joey's getting tired,
like he let in each of the last each of
his last three games, he's led in one that normally
he doesn't let it.

Speaker 9 (31:07):
I think that's just fatigue. He's being used a lot.

Speaker 8 (31:11):
Yeah, but they Bay they played well the other night,
they played really well. That's the team. I was having
this debate, not debate, conversation with a couple of my
buddies on my golf buddies that are die hard fans,
like four or five us on the chain, are like,
what's going on? Why can't this be this? You know,
the Tuesday team? And I said, there's a listen. There's
two teams that didn't get players name to the Four
Nations Tournament, which is this year's version of the All

(31:32):
Star Game. Finland Sweden? Was it Finland Sweden?

Speaker 9 (31:37):
Joe No? Check right, Finland check? Whatever? It is?

Speaker 8 (31:41):
US Canada Seattle's one, Washington's the other. And the reason
Washington didn't is because their best player is plays for Russian.
That's you know, person gross right now? So I mean
it's Ovi, So yeah, it's uh, it's it's a tough one.

Speaker 9 (31:54):
It's tough one.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
Sorry to bring it out. They don't they don't have.

Speaker 8 (31:56):
What I'm saying is they don't have the high end, right,
They've got to win that they when they went to
the playoffs a couple of years ago. They've got the
highest scoring blue line in the NHL right now, and
when Joey's great, those two combinations are good enough. They
still need guys up front to put the bucket the
nest and Vince done. Is he's been great? Oh God,
he's good.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
I hate to bring it up, but was Parker announced
this morning that he's no surprise, no surprise, not a surprise.
Is is the way for WAZU to stem this just
to hit heavy on high school recruiting and give kids
opportunity that way?

Speaker 8 (32:27):
Well, yeah, and they did that. They knew he was gone.
They recruited that way. They recruited two guys look like
him and play like him and look like I mean,
they recruited way Shaw Parker twice. And I think at
least one of those kids will be in school in January.
It doesn't even matter who you are anymore. I mean,
I'm looking at a couple of websites I follow for
that stuff, and I mean, Florida loses guy. Everyone, No
one is immune from it. And for Wazoo, their big

(32:49):
focus for the collective is to get is to keep
matear and Parker knew that. And you know Wayshan comes
from up from very I'll just say, very meager, A
very meager background means and so forth. Man, that's a
guy that you would you should never ever hold any
contempt for. And if he's got an opportunity to make
well into six figures and help that I'll buy into.

(33:11):
When I hear to help the family out thing. Because
he's may not be an NFL player, I'll buy into that.
The other some of the other stuff, I just makes
me sick to my stomach.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
You know.

Speaker 8 (33:20):
I was listening to a podcast yesterday that I listened
to for college football, and guys are talking about how,
oh you know Oregon got so and so and it's
great because you know they can fly Mom and dad,
if you have a private jet to games?

Speaker 9 (33:31):
What are we doing?

Speaker 2 (33:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (33:33):
Like, if you have a kid that's coming from you know,
a rough upbringing and doesn't have a lot of money,
what's the kid for Buffalo?

Speaker 9 (33:41):
For example, the running back.

Speaker 8 (33:43):
Davis like like, if that kid would have had nil
back in the day, God, what a game changer, life changer.
That could have been for him, right, and that's what's
great about it. I just can't stand that. I mean,
I'm looking at guys. There's like a handful of quarterbacks
that are in the portal greg that they'll be playing
for their third team and three years.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
Yeah, that's what cam Ward was.

Speaker 9 (34:06):
And he was the very first.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Yeah, he was the very first. You know, I did.

Speaker 8 (34:10):
And I think there's a difference to not all things
are pretty equal. He went from an f FCS school
to a Pack twelve school at the time, and then
that Pack twelve school went to nothing and he went
to Miami. It's funny, though he would have been he'd
be playing in the NFL right now. He would have
been a probably a Day three pick, maybe a day

(34:32):
or two day three pick, but maybe playing. But good
for him, I mean, I don't I don't begrudge him.
But when you go from Power five to Power I'm sorry,
Power forward to Power Forward to Power Forward to Power four.

Speaker 9 (34:45):
What are we doing?

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Like? What what?

Speaker 3 (34:47):
What?

Speaker 9 (34:47):
What are we doing with what kind of college experience? Again?

Speaker 1 (34:49):
After one year, you'd work on play anyway.

Speaker 8 (34:53):
Zero desire to compete, every desire to have something promise
to you. When is that when that turned into what
sports are? Again, there's not all things are create equal.
I think people sometimes want to lump everything together just
one guy's opinion. It's it's you know, a quarterback that
doesn't want to compete and wants to have something promised
to him is different than a way Sean Parker who

(35:15):
probably would have topped out at seventy five or one
hundred grand inmpullment and he can make you know, four
times that much somewhere else, and good for him. Cam
word goes from FCS to a school that was in
the PAC twelve that no longer was in the PAC twelve,
goes to Miami. Can't begrudge him for that, especially with
the money involved. But if you're going from power for
to power forward, to power for to power forward to
power for, I.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
Don't get it.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
On the flip side, this may be the biggest and
only money they make because they aren't going to play
in the.

Speaker 8 (35:42):
That's the thing, Yeah, that's the thing. I just I
don't know if you said Dickard's comments, ye, that was good.
I mean there has to be some sort of what
did he say? What was the timeline? Greg, do you
remember it was like the NFL doesn't hold the draft
and have free agency before the playoffs start. That's right,
but that's where doing into college football.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
And in the early signing day, all of that is.
He's right, he's right. Oh god, I can't remember when
a guy was committed to a scholarship, you didn't recruit him. Yeah,
And I was reading a story yesterday about how Jetfish said, yeah,
we needed a guard, so we took to Washington State commit. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (36:21):
Well he might as well because Jetfish also took Jane
to Laura illegally, and that was illegal back in the day,
way back three years ago. I asked some people at
waz I said, why didn't you guys report Fish in
Arizona for that? And they said, well, we wanted him gone.
And sometimes you hear that, you go, sure you did. Well,
as it turns out, guess what Jetfish wanted him gone to?

Speaker 1 (36:44):
Are you careful for what you recruit for?

Speaker 8 (36:47):
Well, we had busy shows Stuart Mendel talking about college football.
We'll go deep into it with him at twelve twenty today,
Corbyn's gonna join us at one o'clock and one am.

Speaker 9 (36:56):
I missing oh daily power play.

Speaker 8 (37:00):
I have something else, but out of it these weird
short shows, what's kind of we're kind of compacting stuff.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
You're until two again because two o'clock. Yeah, because of
the cracking pre game at four.

Speaker 9 (37:08):
Yeah, National TV game tonight is on ESPN plus.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
Oh you shouldn't said that. That means we're gonna get
everybody listening.

Speaker 8 (37:14):
We want everybody listening tonight. Damn right, you get the
night off then yeah sort of yeah, yeah, good for you.

Speaker 9 (37:20):
Probably should still watch it. We have a game tomorrow,
but yeah.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Two thirty five will be Factor Fiction with the end.

Speaker 8 (37:24):
No, we're going to give a pick to Softy and Fame.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
Oh you're going to give that to them. Oh you're
giving your pick to them and the two announcers in
their pick.

Speaker 8 (37:32):
It's our pick, but we'll give it ton Okay, yeah, okay,
only one more pick today for Factor Fiction. Three thirty
five picks. Oh no, I'm sorry, there they have one
two so we only we have one today. Our last
pick though, is today and and they'll announce it and
then they have their pick at three thirty five, and
then tomorrow's again. Tomorrow's it. There's only three picks tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
That's right because of the cracking four o'clock game in
New Jersey.

Speaker 6 (37:54):
Got all that.

Speaker 1 (37:55):
No cracking today four thirty four pm pre game on
the Island, and then tomorrow they're at the Devil's at
four o'clock puck drop, three point thirty pre game, and
then Christoph Kid and I will be at Husky Stadium
tomorrow both in the morning for our show. The one
B finals will be going on ice eight on eight
eight man football at the Husky Stadium, know the better.

(38:16):
That's gonna be awesome. He said that the team playing
in the final scored ninety four Who was it for, Clark?
Wilbur Clark, Wilber Clark.

Speaker 9 (38:25):
Trusted, I think right, Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm gonna
be an expert.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
They scored ninety four points in the first playoff game.
Canferness is up next from the Virginia Mason athletes, Ander,
Greg Beln Newstribute and Christopher Kids. Thank you for listening.
We will talk to you tomorrow from Husky Stadium at
the start of the Washington State Football Championship weekend there
at Dublin Montlake. Thanks for listening. We'll talk to you tomorrow.
