on the phone with us right now. It's not an All Star break for
him because he's been doing the MajorLeague Baseball Draft Daniel, Hello again,

(04:15):
thanks for joining us again, andlet me ask you off the top,
what are your impressions of what seemsso far to be a couple unusual players
with unique skills the Mariners have pickedso far. Yeah, I think it's
been kind of fascinating for a fewreasons. You know, first off,
the bat that you know, theygo so high with their first round pick

(04:36):
on such a unique talent in Jerangelo'sGente, who you know, by all
measures, you know, had successin the SEC, pitched really well at
Mississippi State, but nonetheless is aguy that you're rolling the dice a little
bit on because of, you know, the unique skill set and so everything

(04:57):
that he brings to the table andthe fact that it's going to be testing
new frontiers for just about everything whenit comes to player development, high performance,
developing a routine at the major leaguelevel with the ability to pitch from
both arms. So it's all kindof really fascinating with him in particular because

(05:19):
he's, you know, such ahigh pick, and you know that they
do the blueprint of the entire fabricof their player development over the past you
know, five six, seven years, it's largely been rooted in pitching.
I know they got a bunch ofhitters coming, but you know, the
most successful've seen has been on thepitching side. So to see them go

(05:41):
with, you know, such abold move like this, and you know,
by all accounts that you know,he's a really talented kid. The
stuff from both sides has really shined. He can he can get it up
to ninety nine miles an hour fromthe right side, ninety three ninety four
from the left. The stuff profilesfrom you know, both sides very differently
too, So you know, thetalent seems there and intriguing, but it's

(06:08):
just the fact that this organization, who you know, has prided themselves in
their pitching, and rightfully so overthe past, you know, four five,
six, seven years, to gowith and arm this intriguing. I
think it's pretty fascinating. And youknow, we talked to him after he
was selected, and he seems likea pretty polished kid. He seems really

(06:30):
ambitious too, you know, wantingto stick with pitching from both sides and
seeing where that takes him at thenext level. And you know, like
I was touching on seeing how thatalso blends in with a professional routine,
because you know, pitching in thecollege level ranks is much less rigorous than
once you get into pro ball.So he's a pretty fascinating guy right off

(06:53):
the top. And then you know, their sixth rounder. You know,
the stakes aren't as high with him, especially since he's a college senior and
you know, probably going to signfor under slot, which is expected given
that they you know, swung prettyaggressively on their top two picks. But
you know, Grant Nick, it'salso a really interesting story. He apparently

(07:16):
didn't get off the mound until justthis past fall. And when I asked
Scott Hunter, the director of AmateurScouting, about the backstory behind it,
even he wasn't completely sure of,you know, how it'll manifest it.
I think he said something that there'san actual urban legend that it was like
a challenge from his teammates, like, hey, what can you do now?

(07:39):
And then he gets down and hethrows harder than anybody on the team,
supposedly according to Hunter, we haven'thad the chance to talk to Nith
yet, but you know, andthen you couple the fact that he's throwing
ninety seven ninety eight miles an hour, and you know that velocity as long
as you can harness it and throwstrike. That's going to play at any
level, especially as you know, you move into the pro ranks and you're

(08:03):
talking about big league potential. Imean, that's just going to catch the
eyes of anybody. Uh. Sothen you couple out with the fact that
you know, he had some ofthe top exit of velocity readings at the
MLB Draft Combine last month. Uh, you know, he can crush homers
well beyond four hundred and forty feet. Again, I know it's at the
college level, but when you whenyou couple those the combination of those skills,

(08:28):
you know, just the power armoff the mound, and then you
know, the bat with the abilityto hit it as hard and as long
as he's able to, and thefact that you're probably going to sign him
for under slot. It's an intriguingexperiment, and you know, one that
the Mariners have talked about in thepast. They haven't been shy about the

(08:48):
fact that they're willing to pursue twoway players, uh and develop them.
You know, obviously they were, you know, really in on showhy A
Tani, but when he was firstposted from Japan back in twenty seventeen,
twenty eighteen. But you know,we've never seen it with a legitimate guy
that they are bringing in to theirdraft developed model and see how the player

(09:15):
development plan for him works out.So likes ra Angelo, this guy is
also, you know, I think, pretty fascinating and unique. And the
fact that they're both coming in thesame draft class, I think also speaks
to where they're at with this specificclass. Scott Hunter hasn't made it no
secret it's not as strong as inyears past, so you know, when

(09:39):
they have seen some kind of uniquetalents that they can cultivate bring in,
this is maybe the year to tryand do that, because the top of
the leader boards or the whiteboards,so to speak, hasn't been as strong.
So these two guys really unique, really fascinating, and you know,
kind of in dements of where theMariners are at with this specific draft class.

(10:03):
And you know, with their specificplayer development timeline, where does sinj
just start and when do you thinkthat? I don't know yet. You
know, they didn't have an answerright away obviously, because you know,
they still got to get him signedand passes physical and whatnot, and he's
still at the Island or at theAll Star game down in Arlington, So

(10:26):
we'll have to wait and see onthat. But I also think that part's
kind of fascinating because you know, just given that he did pitch a lot
at Mississippi State this year, hedoes throw from both sides. He also
told us that he experienced some discomfortfrom the left side down the stretch.
He says he's fine now, butthat also prompted him the pitch kind of
more exclusively from the right side towardsthe end of the season at Mississippi State.

(10:50):
So I'm kind of fascinated because youknow, this is an organization that,
especially with their high school picks, they're very care full of right after
they draft high school pitchers, atleast, you know, they don't send
them out to a minor league affiliatein the first year that they draft him.
So I don't necessarily think that that'llbe the case with dur Angelo.

(11:13):
But I don't know that they're goingto give him like a Logan Evans opportunity
where they're gonna throw him out atModesco see what he can do, and
you know, maybe he propels rapidlythrough the system by the time you know,
opening day rolls around next year.Uh, just given the unique skill
set that he did pitch a lotin the NCC and that you know,

(11:35):
this is a new frontier for themfrom a player development perspective, I would
imagine they're probably going to ease himin wherever that might be and curious to
see where that find where that endsup being. But we we haven't gotten
a ton of clarity on that justyet. But you know, that might
be a good question for Scott Huntertoday when we wrap things up with the
draft former Mariner Teoscar Hernandez one Mondaynight home run derby. But the the

(12:00):
most intriguing thing, the most interestingthing that I thought was his comments towards
Adam Jude in regards to his timewith the Mariners and him saying for some
reason he couldn't figure it out anddidn't feel good at the plate at home
in Seattle. What did you makeof those comments from Taoscar? Yeah,
I mean when you read him andAdam's a great reporter, and you know

(12:24):
it's not you know, it doesjump off the page for sure, just
because they are kind of stark andhe's not He's not here anymore. And
it's a former player who had successbefore he got here. You know,
he did some success while he washere, but now he's you know,
ascended to to new heights this seasonin Los Angeles with the Dodgers. Yeah,

(12:50):
for all those reasons. It jumpsoff the page and grabs your attention,
but in the same vein, it'syou know, from my perspective,
it wasn't completely docking. You know, in multiple conversations with Tail last year,
you know, both on and offthe record, it was something that
he had indicated throughout the season thatyou know, his his struggles to find

(13:13):
success at home, you know, became more and more prolonged, and it
wound up lasting pretty much the entireseason. And you look at the home
road splits that he had, andyou know Adam obviously mentioned them in his
story. Uh, they were prettystark. You know, I think he
had you know, an eight thirtyoh ps on the road and it was
like one hundred and fifty points lowerat home, and especially in the early

(13:37):
months, he was struggling to youknow, really tap into that power.
And you know, we talk alot about the marine layer, but that's
one thing that he pointed out toconsistently when you know, he'd be driving
balls deep to the gaps in theoutfield and that they he could see him
die at the warning track or notclear the fense. And you know,
then he started to heat up inJune, and I don't think it's any

(14:00):
coincidences because it becomes a more easyplace to hit at that time of year.
You know, he was one ofthe hottest players in baseball in both
that month and then August. Youknow, he kind of took a back
seat to Julio in August because hewas on just that huge tear. But
you know, Tail was probably theplayer of the month if it wasn't for

(14:20):
his teammates and that stretch. Soyou know, we've heard it from hitters
before. You still hear it fromhitters on the current team that talk about
the challenges of hitting at Themobile Park. But you know, I also think
like it's something that the Mariners haveconstantly had to deal with when it comes

(14:41):
from developing hitters acquiring hitters from outsidethe organization. And I think it's a
large reason why they've built their teamthe way they have, which has been
so predicated on pitching, especially whenwe talk about the draft and develop model
of you know, bringing guys whocan come here and pitch so confidently at

(15:05):
home, and that's been a hugepart of the blueprint of how they've built
their roster for the long term. So, you know, it is a
disadvantage when you talk about bringing hittersin here, but they've also tried to
use it to their strength when itcomes to their arms and how they've built
their roster in that regard. Butyou know, tying back to Taylor's comments,

(15:28):
not completely surprised at all because it's, you know, something that we
had heard throughout his time while hewas here. I just think, you
know, a fresh perspective of beingat the All Star Game with the new
team and you know, making themright before he goes out and wins the
home run derby and he's kind ofthe face of baseball for a day.
Yeah, it's understanding why it generatedas much attention as it did. Daniel

(15:50):
Kramer MLB dot com Mariners beat writer, joining us as he does every Tuesday
in the Beacon Plumbing Hotline here onninety three point three KGRFM. When you
stand at home played at T MobilePark and you look straight through the pitcher's
mound to centerfield, the batter's eyeis angled from right center to left center
at an angle not straight on likemost batter's eyes, and it's off center.

(16:11):
It's not it doesn't. It's notequal on the left and right side.
There's more on the right side ofthe wall than there's on the left.
I'm not telling you anything. Youdon't know. Have you heard hitters
talk about that, the depth perceptionchallenges of the batter's eye t Mobile Park
here. You've heard mumblings of it, but nothing, nothing like to an

(16:33):
extended period where it's become a hugepoint in conversation. I wouldn't say no.
And if you look at what Taosaid, he's more talking about,
you know, being directionally lined uptowards the mound. I think that's more
what he was talking about. Rightto the present team. When we talked
to you last week, you thoughtGregory Santos was gonna was prime for high

(16:56):
leverage situations because of the long playthe Mariners had and bringing him back from
injury. He debuts was lights outand staring down Profar in San Diego on
Tuesday. Everyone loved his debut. He looked like he had some red ass
in him that the team needs doesn'tpitch again until Friday, and if there
was ever a game to use him, it would appear Sunday to be the
bridge reliever between your All Star starterand You're All Star closer. They use

(17:19):
Austin both and said, what's goingon with Santos and why the slow play
to start? Yeah, I don'tthink it's so much the leverage situation that
I was talking about last Tuesday, because you know, they do intend to
fire him out there and use themin big pockets. It's just like it's

(17:40):
become increasingly clear that they're not goingto use him definitely on back to back
and you know, Scott mentioned that, you know, in a perfect world,
they'd like to get two days ofrest in between each outing for him,
So you know they're sticking to itobviously, with Sundays being kind of

(18:00):
a prime example. And you lookat Austin both he's pitching three days in
a row for the first time inhis career. So I think that also
speaks to, you know, thethe careful measures that they're taking with Santos,
and I don't think it's completely unprecedentedbecause if you look at, you

(18:21):
know, the situation with him,he had to set back after the injury
in spring training. He was abig off season acquisition. And if you
look at round, while the bullpenhas for the most part, you know,
held afloat, it hasn't been youknow, the elite level of power
and swing and miss arms that we'veseen from this group in years past,

(18:42):
being especially twenty twenty two, buteven twenty one in twenty three too as
well, just maybe to a lesserextent. But you know, they they're
cognitant that bringing Santos back from theil like he represents a potential huge injection
to a group that needs that kindof power arm that can miss bats and

(19:03):
and fire high bilocity fastballs, butalso you know, with the slider to
go with it, that can continuecontinuously generate strikes, strikeouts. And so
you know the fact that he didhave that step back earlier this year and
it took him so long to finallyget back and healthy, it makes sense.

(19:25):
While why they're easing him back intoaction, you know, they have
a plan that they're going with twodays in between outing. Uh, you
know, you can question it allyou want, but they're pretty adamant about
sticking to it, just because theyneed this guy to stay healthy because you
know, the bullten as constructed.Uh. You know, if you don't

(19:48):
have the type of swing in thisstuff that he brings down the stretch,
like you're gonna probably need to goout and add that before the deadline.
Maybe you already do need to dothat. But you know, with him,
with him in particular, I don'tthink the training wheels are going to
be on for the rest of theseason. I don't think this is going
to be something where they're constantly restinghim that often in between outings. It

(20:12):
was just his first week backs leadinginto the All Star break, and that's
where that specific situation fell. Youknow, if you look at how they
handled Andres Munnos two years ago whenhe was kind of coming back from Tommy
John he had some setbacks, itwas a pretty similar situation. They would
they definitely wouldn't pitch him back toback, you know, for the first

(20:33):
three or four months of the season, and then by the time they were
into the playoffs, they were comfortablegoing to him, you know, up
to three days in a row.So, uh, all that to say
that, yeah, it's definitely atough situation when that's the situation and decision
that you're sticking with, and thenyou turn to both unexpectedly, you know,

(20:56):
by the way, because Hispanic hasto leave with the back spasms,
you know, pitching three days ina row, which is the complete contrast
of how they're handling Santos, andthen everything just kind of spirals and backfires
right in your face. So itgets far more exacerbated in that regard.
But you know, as for howthey handle Santo's long term, I would

(21:18):
I would anticipate they continue to easingthem, but I don't think these types
of massive training wheels are going tobe on him for the rest of the
season. Daniel Kramer MLB dot Commanners beat writer. I appreciate you taking
time out of what's supposed to besomething of a break for you. Went
do you get like a six hoursoff before the season restarts on Friday?

(21:38):
Uh, yeah, we'll see,you know. The draft wraps up today,
and uh, it's always a funtime because you know, you,
like we were talking earlier, especiallywhen they you know, select some of
these really unique players that you're kindof able to do a little bit of
researching on and hear them talk aboutdream on and it's a fun period.

(22:02):
But it's it's also kind of achaotic period as well, just because you're
scrambling with you know, the twentyguys that you've never heard from, some
of them you've never heard of,and you constantly got to get yourself up
to speed. So it's it's afun two or three days, but also
kind of a chaotic and long twoor three days. But you know,
that's that's where we're at when whenthey when they moved to the draft of

(22:25):
the All Star breaks. So we'lljust we'll just roll with the punges and
enjoy a big three days at theyard this weekend. Astros and Mariners this
week. Thanks a lot for joiningu again, Daniel, talk to you
next week, all right, appreciateit. Thank you. Daniel Kramer MLB
dot com Mariners beat writer joins usevery Tuesday on the Beacon Plumbing Hotline.
He says Gregory Santo's not only doesthey don't want him to pitch back to

(23:38):
again another episode of the telemore duetext line reading back your text from the
show four nine four five one fromthe four two five Mariners, Where all
good hitters come to die? Culture, weather, ballpark coaching? Does it
really matter? Why would a goodplayer want to come here? It's a
career ending decision. Wow, soundsas if Seattle is not the place to

(24:03):
be. From the four two five. What's so different about Seattle's Marine layer
compared to La San Diego or eventhe Bay Area? I think the Bear
is a more app description. You'vebeen to San Diego and Los Angeles,
that marine layer is about seventy degrees, it's not fifty. That's one difference.
The water temperature in southern California comparedto northern Califoria, not even close.

(24:26):
So I used to live at Berkeley, and the fog in Berkeley compared
to the fog in San Diego LosAngeles not even comparable. But there has
been talk of San Francisco because it'sBayside Park was subject to fog, that
being a depressing factor to hitting statsat what was then pack Bell Park now
whatever they call it, Oracle Parkor whatever. Not as much in the

(24:47):
East Bay and Oakland. The fogburns up by the time it goes lacross
Alameda to the Oakland Coliseum. Butyeah, there has been marine layer talking
San Francisco for years, even waymore so in Candlestick Park, the old
Candlestick Park, because it was outon a point that wind used to whip
through as well as the fog.I was at some games in Candlestick Park
where it was July and I hada park and the nit cap on they

(25:12):
have a Kroy Sat Day Candlestick. It's a takeoff of a mountain expedition at
Candlestick Park, because that's what itfeels like in the summer there. It
used to Now it's vacant from thetwo five to three. Our friend Keith,
maybe just blow up T Mobile startover and use lots of sage.

(25:33):
It's a lot of public money that'sgone into T Mobile Park. I don't
think blowing it up is the rightchoice. Hey, if you can blow
up the King don't know. Ofcourse, do we need a history lesson
on why T Mobile Park exists. The voters of the state of Washington voted
against building a new baseball stadium inSeattle in the early nineties. Slagh Gordon

(25:56):
is really the father of the currentday Mariners. The Senator said we're gonna
have a special session of the legislationto ram this through, and they got
the funding anyway, even after thestate said no, that's the reason Seattle
Manors are not the Tampa Bay Mariners. Then the Tampa Bay went and got
the Rays. Baseball gave him theraise. Tampa Bay had Tropic Caana Field
already built and they were trying tolure the Mariners there. And when that

(26:21):
vote failed for a replacement of theKingdome. It looked like the see the
Mariners were going to Tampa Bay untilSlade Gordon came in and got to spend
the public funding anyway for from thefour two five? Would you guys put
five hundred dollars on the Mariners winningthe west Man? You're tapped out of
bets, aren't you? Manor Beets? So you willing to your fiance be
all right with that? Yes,she would be. She would not like

(26:45):
it, but she wouldn't say yougot to stop doing it. But the
question is, would you guys so? Yes? I would? Greg?
What says you, my friend? What I put five hundred on the Mariners
winning the division? No? Idon't bet that much. Okay, we're
not asking you if you would orwouldn't bet because of your moral I think

(27:06):
they're going to win the division?Yes, I do, so you would
put five hundred down? I guess, well, a five hundred dollars?
Sure? Yeah? Maybe? Okay, I think they're going to win the
division. I do. I thinkthe pitching is going to beat out Houston.
Okay. That's thank you Greg fortaking and answering that question, because
you're at Chris, you know me, I don't that's not my company,
and you looked at me very disappointing. Yes, I don't want to let

(27:27):
you down from the three six.So how come you guys haven't addressed the
horrible national anthem last night? Wheredoes that one fallen? Worth of all?
Because the woman has apparently come outon her Instagram account this morning and
said she was drunk, should nothave been singing and doing anything publicly,
and she is checking herself into arehab clinic according to an Instagram post that

(27:48):
is purported to be hers. Now, in the world we live in,
who knows what is authentic and whatis not anymore? I hear you on
that. Thanks a lot, right, But if you can believe what it
looks to be her Instagram account, she is checking in to a rehab facility
to get herself cleaned up and saidshe was drunk last night and shed never
have been singing. That's why Ihaven't mentioned it at all. On the

(28:10):
flip side, though, do youhave a family member that when they get
a little tipsy, they tend tosing out of fun and obviously hers is
more severe. So I jokingly thinkyou know at least you went out there
and did it. Now, I'mglad that you're getting the help you need
because it was very entertaining what shedid yesterday. But I know that she
wasn't in her right mind, Sothere's two sides of the story. I

(28:30):
feel bad for her, but alsowas entertaining, So I'm glad that she's
getting the help that she needs inthis scenario that wasn't entertained though it was
appalled. But that's okay. Twoo six You're right, I'm wrong.
The initiate was voted down King County. It wasn't a statewide initiative. Thank
you for correcting me, I misspopsaying Washington voters supported down wrong in all
caps. If that makes you feelbetter, Yes, you were right.

(28:52):
Now we're wrong. I appreciate theall caps, but thank you, No,
seriously, thank you for correcting ourguy Joe checks in solve this ad

We should have Scott Servis on andread that to him, and I think
we will never get any Mariners everon the station. Again, we should
probably not do that. Greg asfunny as that. Maybe we haven't talked
about this guy. I don't thinkout all this week. So from the
two oh six start, Bliss allthree games this coming week, No brainer,

(29:37):
Ryan Bliss? Please? Why not? Well? Plonko is warming up
a little bit, which is great. That's great, But at the same
time, are you willing to putall your chips in that basket with Polonco?
So yeah, that's ten and ahalf million reasons to do that.
Oh there's Keith responds again, probablynever gonna happen, but I'm gonna read
it anyway. So when's the bellkids sleepover all night? NCAA five fest

(30:02):
happening? When Greg says, kids, or bring the system over? Since
you brought up the video games,I thought it was really cool last night
at Washington State's football online social media. Did you see what they did?
Yes, that was cool. Theyput all the players had been in a
room. It looked like they werein one of the team rooms on campus
getting ready for preseason practice in afew weeks, and they were riotously celebrating

(30:25):
the game and touchdown pass the teammatehad made playing Washington State in Pullman at
Martin Stadium, and it was justcool. I thought to myself, this
is really cool that the Pac twelve, their conference brothers, just screwed them.
Really, all college football screwed theseguys. Yet they were just hanging
out like college dudes in the summer, playing video games and loving each other

(30:47):
and being great team. I thoughtit was really cool. I helped the
Cougars go seventeen and oh and winthe college football playoffs. That would be
amazing game. You would like that. I love it. Those guys deserve
it, though, they really do. I hear you anything you're seeing Greg
that I have rid off. Yeahthere's two five, three, says you
sound like a jaded ex girlfriend callingthe Astros the trash cans. Get over
it, dude, get over it. Just let them cheat and everyone forget

(31:11):
about it. They want a worldseries by banging on trash cans, and
that's like, that's never happened. That just let's forget that happen. Eh,
Let's move on. I don't know. They didn't get punished at all
for that. The didn't get punniesit all for that, so they should
they if they can't get punished byMajor League Baseball, which turned the other
cheek, then they'd get ridiculed asmuch as anyone should ridicule that. There's

(31:33):
a person that lives in an apartmentcomplex near my house in the Roosevelt neighborhood.
Every other building is now an apartmentcomplex since they put the light rail
station in there, and it's flyinga Houston Astros flag from the top of
that bill. I cannot every timeI drive by, it's like, well,
what's going on here? You wantto go light on fire a little
bit, greg, just just youknow, get a match. Just might
be the wrong time of year tostart a fire somewhere. But I drove

(31:55):
by an inferno this morning, andthe our traffic report mentioned it at the
corner of Northeast fiftieth and I fivea brush fire, but it was huge,
and that it just had started apparentlybecause the Seattle Police officer pulled up
and then they fireman finally showed upas I drove by. But yeah,
I won't cutch anything on fire inmid July. One's ninety degrees. Okay,

(32:17):
I understand fair enough, fair enoughcall it two five three called ash
trashcan is the greatest thing I've everheard. Thank you of that, both
sides of them. My wife's cellphone is not two fight three. She's
in the mountains camping with her mom. It's not her who's saying that's the
greatest thing I ever heard. ButI appreciate that two fat three. Thank
you. So no mayor today, but who's filling in? Chris Crawford,

(32:37):
who's been doing Mariners draft for thelast three days. I think he has
more than that to talk about. He'll join us next on ninety three point

(33:54):
at the News, Jvann and ChristopherKidd with you ninety three point three kJ
RF. A couple of things Idon't usually do this. I want to
point this out on my Twitter slashx feed. First of all, I
posted the video of Washington State footballplaying the New Matt I almost said mad

(34:15):
sports whatever. I posted a videoof those guys celebrating have a great time
doing which I thought was really cool. The other thing I put up there
and I wanted to bring attention toThere's a story this morning an ESPN dot
com of Nate Robinson's story for needinga kidney chance plan and how he had

(34:36):
to be convinced to go public withit. Baxter Holmes, a writer for
ESPN dot com, posted a storyand it's really insightful to how the process
for eating a kidney takes so longand there is a new option for kidney
donors to have a swap with afamily member donating kidney in order for you

(35:00):
to get a kidney from somewhere elserather than waiting for someone to pass away
to donate the kidney. Very it'sa fascinating story and it's at my Twitter
feed at g Bell Seattle about NateRobinson, the former We're Near Beach in
Washington Huskies basketball and part time footballstar as well. And let's hope that

(35:21):
all the best for Shan Robinson.Yeah, you got your Husky gear on
us. Absolutely one of my alltime favorite players, for sure, So
thoughtsome prayers with him, for sure. Chris Craver is going to be for
Ian forness again today because Ian canHackett and has to take days off before
training time starts. Your impressions aboutanything Mariners recently, the draft or the

(35:42):
ti Oscar Hernandez reminding everyone he usedto be a Mariner last night. Yeah,
his comments about not seeing the ballstraight at the home park last year
in Seattle, all of it thatwas really interesting, and I'm sure is
just a you know, the LeonardoDiCaprio point thing, the name that you've
seen. I think that a lotof people were doing that when ti Oscar
was making those comments. We're goingto talk about it today. It was

(36:04):
not the most exciting home run derbyin my I told yeah, I turned
on for five minutes. It's justlong. It is a bit of a
slog at times. It's better thanthe old days when it used to be
ten outs and the event took likesix hours and it was just too much.
But there's still a lot of downtimeand it you know, it didn't
have the same stars. But Iwas happy for ti Oscar, one of

(36:25):
the really good guys. I talkedto his agent all the time and he
is thrilled to be a Los AngelesDodger. But looking him forward to the
All Star Game, it doesn't havethe same luster as it used to for
me, Like I used to lovewatching the All Star Game as a kid,
because like, that's the only wayI could see Barry Bonds were in
a Pittsburgh uniform. That's the onlyway I could see these former National League

(36:45):
stars. We didn't have the sametype of television stuff we do now.
I see these guys every day. They're gonna be wearing some of the ugliest
uniforms that I've ever seen in myentire I mentioned Rob Ranford has told Tyler
Kepner The Athletic that they are consideringgoing back to where at least player's own
jerseys please the way it should be, absolutely, especially for a sport like
baseball. I get it for youknow, like the Pro Bowl. If

(37:07):
they were wearing their own sports,if they actually called penalties in the Pro
Bowl, it may be a littlebit difficult too. I don't even know
what uniforms they were at the ProBowl. I haven't watched it in twenty
years. I think they wear shortsand a no fear tank top at this
point is what they wear at thesepoints. But but yeah, just go
back to that. That's the wholething is like, one of your guys
is playing in this big event, have him wear the uniform that got him

(37:28):
into this big event. You mentionedyour friends with the agent for task Barnandaz
and Eddie loves being a Dodger.Does he, more to the point,
love being an ex Mariner and nolonger with the Mariner. I think there's
probably a fifty one to forty ninesplit there, and I'll maybe keep that
one to myself how far this splitgoes? What else have Today? We're
gonna be talking to Jordan Schusterman ofSuspectus Family Barbecue. He was there watching

(37:50):
the home run derby covers the MLBDraft and just a big old Mariner fan,
So we're going to talk about that. We're going to talk about the
quarterback non controversy for the Huskies, but whether it is better for Will Rogers
or Demond Williams to be the starterthis year. I have a fairly hot
take I think on that, andthen we're also going to talk some Seahawks
stuff as well. It should befun even transfer Rogers would transfer all the

(38:12):
way Frossissippi State not to play well, that's the thing reason why there's not
actually a quarterback battle. But maybethere should be a quarterback battle. In
my hebleist oh paralleling, there shouldbe one with the Seahawks. Yeah,
I'm a lazy guy. Once Ihave one idea in my head, I
better get three or four stories outof it. Seahawks Grein game begins in
eight days. Just so we're clear, you know, Smith is the number

(38:35):
one quarterback. There is no competition. No competition until maybe you should be.
Chris Carford will be here again todaytwelve to three. He'll be here
the rest of the week from twelveto three for Ian Furness, Greg Ball,
the News Tribute, and Christopher Kidd. Thanking you again for listening to
us. We'll be here again tenam to noon tomorrow on ninety three point
