didn't need a cart. Manager ScottServis said the X rays were negative.
Hard to see Rodriguez being able toplay though here the next day or two
or three perhaps, but it lookslike, Scott Servis said, the Mariners
(01:55):
avoided a bigger injury to Julio Rodriguez. The Mariners put on Way First Basement
Ty France yesterday after his epic strugglesall season two twenty three doesn't even begin
to describe his troubles at the plate. He was an All Star in twenty
twenty two for the Mariners. Nowhe has forty eight hours on waivers for
someone to claim him. Mariners couldbring him back, although they could also
(02:17):

Angels after what happened last week inAnaheim. Aaron Goldsmith of Root Sports pleasure
that he is joining us again onthe Beacon Plumbing Hotline, the busy Man
from all of his Mariners coverage dayin and day out. Aaron, thanks
(03:45):
a lot for joining us again,And I have to start with the top
of the psyche of this team. You mentioned late in the game yesterday on
the broadcast that you thought yesterday's gamewas pivotaled for just feeling better about where
things may be heading. There's onlyone game in July, but can you
expound on how important yesterday's game was. You think, hey, you're eat
(04:06):
good to be with you. Yeah, I just to me when you kind
of think about where the Marinders wereand I know, you just kind of
ran down how long they had beenin first place, and when you think
about what could have happened this weekend, right, the Manders could have won
that series and increase their leading thedivision, or it wasn't the worst case
scenario, the Marenders did get awin. Obviously a sweep would have been
(04:29):
pretty devastating, but just to drawback to break even with the Astros,
I felt was just so important togo into this next series with a chance
to not have to dig yourself outof a hole against a team that it's
faith that the Marinders will play theAsses only one more time. So we're
talking not only about just kind ofthe vibes right now for the ball club
(04:53):
and just kind of the mental stateof avoiding a sweep to the hands of
the team it's been your biggest rivaland your biggest hur generally speaking over the
last number of years now, butalso just the importance greg of I mean,
the Mariners only have one more serieshead to head against the Astros,
and we saw the chaos that waslast year and that final series and the
(05:14):
Mariners had the Rangers and the Astroswere in Arizona, and just how important
the head to head is. TheMariners were able to win that one on
one battle head to head last yearat the Astros, and right now they
they are ahead in the season seriesas well. So for those two reasons,
one is kind of more short term, one is more bigger picture.
Yesterday was a pretty critical game andgood for the Mariners they able to score
some runs, get some good pitching, and win the game. Through one
(05:35):
hundred and one games, are yousurprised where the Mariners are or is this
somewhere where you expected to expect themto be? Tied in the aos?
How did division lead? How doyou view it? Well? I mean
I kind of would answer that twodifferent ways. If you say, are
you where they are? Are theywhere you expect them to be in terms
of the wins and losses and thestandings. I mean, if somebody told
(05:58):
me that coming out of the breakthe Mariners and the Astros would be tied
a top the division as they areright now roughly one hundred games into the
season, if you told me thatwhen we were in Peoria, I would
say, yeah, that, like, you'll take that. There's not a
Mariner fan in the world that wouldn'ttake that. But how they got here
is not what I thought it wouldbe. The pitching has been, I
(06:20):
think safe to say like even better, especially the rotation than I think anybody
could have reasonably anticipated, which Imean is the rotation that had high hopes
obviously, but they've had just someincredible moments and stretches so far in this
first half. But then the offenseI think is noticeably, noticeably worse than
(06:41):
any of us thought it would be. I truly, guys, I went
into opening day really believing that thisis the deepest lineup that this regime of
the Poto and Service have ever had, and I think on paper it remains
that, but the game is notplayed on paper. Just had so many
(07:02):
hitters significantly underperforming their career averages andthat's led them to where they are right
now. That's the familiar voice ofAaron Goldsmith, the Root Sports Mariners Broadcast,
joining us on the Beacon Plumbing Hotlinehere on ninety three point three kJ
FM. You rightly mentioned yesterday duringthe broadcast. I thought it was pretty
(07:24):
pressing of you to say that therewas a card out on the field for
Julio Rodriguez, but that he didn'tneed it, and you noted he did
take the long walk as the pictureshowed us into the dugout. Do you
have any sense on how long JulioRodriguez might be out? I don't,
and I won't until we hear frommore from the Mariners today. I obviously
it was so encouraging that he wasable to walk off the cart was not
(07:45):
needed. I know Mike Cameron, who is very familiar with that part of
the mall park, came out witha tweet. I'm sure many many people
listening saw, and if they didn't, he Cameron basically predicted that Julio would
just need a couple of days ora few day. He just fined that
he jammed up his ankle and thatCammy made it sound like he had been
through this, which wouldn't surprising ofus, and that it'll just be a
(08:07):
matter of days. If Julio didn'tplay at all in this Angel series,
especially with a twelve forty game inthe series, or should I say maybe
if he didn't start any of thegames that wouldn't shock me. But maybe
again, maybe he's back out theretomorrow, who knows. But I think
what a major disaster the Mariners avoidedthere, and I think that play.
(08:28):
We all know how good Julio isdefensively, I think kind of nationally,
he still probably is a little underthe radar for whatever reason. And for
him to run full tilt like hedid to try to make that catch was
pretty remarkable to give himself up likethat, and fortunately it does not seem
like it'll be a long ston awayfor Julio. Victor Roblay Saren had a
(08:50):
really good series. Obviously, thenumbers show it, and although a small
sample size, hitting three ninety sincehe became a Mariner a twenty five games
one at Betts. Do you seeroblis now is the everyday corner outfitter and
staying at number two and maybe evengoing to number one and moving JP Crawford
down or what options you think Roblicscould give him? You know, I
(09:11):
do love just a side note,I love that for so many teams over
the course of the year, andwe obviously see it firsthand watch the Mariners
every day, and I love whenthese kinds of things happen when a guy
who just comes out of nowhere, whether it's somebody from the Miners who is
not a prospect status or somebody who, in Roblis's case, was DFA by
(09:31):
the only team he'd ever been with, goes to another organization, and you
wonder, he wonders, I'm surewhen am I ever going to get another
chance to impact the ball club andimpact games on a regular basis. And
now he's been. He's been obviouslythe mariners best offensive performer for a short
stretch of time now and it's justsuch a great story and good on Roeblaze
for taking advantage of an opportunity thathe's been given. Unfortunately, he's been
(09:54):
given the opportunity because the Mariners haveneeded it, right, They've needed something
anyone and it's been Roadblaze to gethot. And we saw something kind of
similar in years past with Mike Fordand this Ford had a great month stretch
at a time here and there forthe Mariners, but for Roblays answer your
question, he will be in thereas long as he is hitting. The
(10:16):
Mariners are obviously thirsteam for offense, and we have seen him move from the
ninth spot to the two spot, and I'd have to imagine he will not
only be in the order, butin the top half of the order as
long as he's producing. With tyFranz put on waivers, what does that
mean for Tyler Lockler? Is thatgoing to be an opportunity for him or
do you see someone else filling thatrole at first base? Well, you
(10:39):
know, it'll be interesting to seewhat the rest of the year looks like
for Lockley. We know this,he is not part of this current roster
move. The Mariner has just madea move a little under twenty minutes ago
that it's Ryan Billiss who's been sentout. He's been optioned back to Tacoma
and Jason Vossler, who is nota name familiar with probably a mini fans
a meerra fans I thought it's isbeing called up to the Mariners. He'll
(11:03):
be making his Mariner's debut. He'sa guy who has had a little bit
of time in the show, someat bats over the last few years,
not a lot, but he hasbeen in the big leagues. And when
we heard about the news of France, I think everyone probably assumed lock Leader
would be the replacement, but itis Bossler, and he's hit really well
in Tacoma, which I mean,I want to be very clear about that,
(11:24):
doesn't hitting well in Triple A today, guys has not necessarily guaranteed success
at the major league level. Thereis such a massive gap right now between
major league pitching and Triple A pitching. Doesn't mean the Dvosser can't come up
and have success. I'm not sayingthat at all, but there's nothing automatic.
I hope we all know that. But he's hit very well. To
his great credit, he has hitwhere he is, which there's nothing more
(11:46):
you can ask for from a player. And he's got some real defensive versatility,
which for all the skills and traitsand lord that Locklear has and he's
earned, he's a first basement andthat's where he's going to play. The
DHRE is going to be a firstbasement. I'd have to imagine. I
haven't heard anybody from within New Yorktalk about this yet. Just happened,
but I'd have to imagine that hisdefensive versatility does play a role of him
(12:11):
being called up. He can playthe corners in the infield, he can
play the corners in the outfield. He's had a game or two even at
second base or shortstop in the courseof his career. I don't see that
happening. But the point is hecan move around a little bit. So
for those two factors, he's beenhidden well and you can move him around.
I'd have to think that those aretwo of the main ingredients. Is
why Bossler's coming up. Sixteenth roundpick of the Chicago Cubs in twenty fourteen
(12:33):
came up as a third baseman.Vossler and he has twenty home runs down
at TRIPAA in eighty nine games.Well bet in two eighty nine if even
he does a fifth of that, that would be improving. Aaron Gold the
Root Sports joining us. Aaron Iasked Dave Simms this a couple of weeks
(12:54):
ago, and I'm gonna ask youthe same question. Is it not to
the point that the Mariner's in thecuouse the players are expecting Jerry Depoto to
make a deal. They're almost lookingover their shoulders waiting for it. That
there's an expectation that the offense isgoing to get upgraded, at least with
an attempt via trade. Do yousense any of that? You know,
I don't know, I think Iwould be a fool to try to speak
(13:18):
for the players on something like that. I haven't asked any of them that
directly. I do think that allplayers have a sense for their environment,
right, whether it's just what theypick up on their own, what their
agent is telling them. They allhave people in their ear and they're no
fools. Even the young guys havebeen around. Even the young guys have
(13:39):
been traded right that are on thisteam, so many of them, so
they know what happens, especially thistime of year. And you know,
for the Mariners, it's a situationwhere I'm not sure what they can do
given how frozen the trade market isright now. My anticipation would be that
this is there will be a flurryat the very finish line, simply because
(14:01):
there are so many teams, particularlyin the National League, that are in
the wildcard picture, and that theJerry's of the world, the other general
managers and presidents of baseball operations, they will wait and they will hold as
long as they can to see whetheror not their team is in it and
they should make a push or ifthey should sell. So the Mariner's in
(14:22):
a position where they obviously need helpnow, but it's also a chance to
improve your ball club moving forward. But the thing I think that can't be
lost guys. Yes, I wouldanticipate something. I don't know what it
is, but I would anticipate, whether it be a bat of open arm
or preferably both. But the bottomline, over half of the Mariners' lineup
(14:45):
is underperforming based on their even theirown expectations, not just the outside.
There isn't a realistic number of peoplethat you can bring in hitters in particular
I'm talking about that will change things. Can an augment and help and supplement,
absolutely, but for this team toget to where it wants to be
and produce like it believed and Istill think believes it can. I truly
(15:11):
think that there's not a single memberof that clubhouse who doesn't firmly believe that
they can and should be and willbe better. For those things to happen,
the guys right now in uniform haveto be better. And they know
that I'm not saying anything that they'renot aware of. They feel it.
It's been one hundred games, it'sbeen disappointing. That's what has to happen.
In conjunction, I would think witha mover to erin give listeners all
(15:35):
Mariner fans, of course, areason why they're going to do this.
Why you think in October they're goingto win the West and be home field
advantage for the first round of theplayoffs. What about this team that you
cover every day tells you that theycan do this? Well, the first
thing is something we haven't talked aboutat all, and I understand is the
(15:56):
pitching. I mean, the reasonthey can do it is the pitching.
There, sun comes up, it'salways there, It's always there. I
mean, I think one of mybiggest lessons learned about baseball, if I
didn't know it already, just coveringthe Mariners and being around them every day
for this recent run of let's callit three years or so, where the
pitching has been so dynamite and beenamong the game's best, is you will
(16:18):
always be in it if you canpitch. And that's one of the oldest
adages in the game. But I'veseen it play out in front of me
every day for three plus years. So they have elite level pitching and an
elite level rotation in particular, andthe bolton that's getting healthier right Santos is
available now, Spire is back.So that's the main reason is the pitching.
(16:41):
Their offense does not need to beclear. Their offenses not need to
get to Dodger's status, right likethey do not need to score five runs
a game, right and be inthe top five or even ten in offense
in the game. They need topush from call it bottom five to more
hovering somewhere near the mediums. That'sall they need. I say all like
(17:06):
it's an easy thing. It clearlyhasn't been an easy thing, but that's
what they need. They just needto get somewhere closer to the middle of
the pack. And their potential islimitless because there is not a single team
in baseball that would want to facethe Mariners in October with their pitching.
I mean, in a short series, heck, you can put Bryce Miller
in the bullit they want, rightAnd in a long series and a seven
(17:30):
gamer, you've got more horses thanthey do in the rotation. So and
the Mariners are proven that they canhit home runs, which is a factor
in the postseason as well, butthey have to start making more contact.
Do they have to make the mostcontact absolably not but they need to start
making more contact and if they cando that with what they already have in
place on the mound, it's limitlesswhat they can do. It really is.
(17:53):
Aaron Goldsmith, will be following yourwork, great work every day.
We appreciate what you do. Findsyou you do broadcasting Mariners games, and
we'll see where it goes from here. Eight days to the trade deadline and
they're tied for first. As yousaid, most every Mariner fan would have
taken that back in spring training. Thanks again for joining us, Aaron,
and continue your great work. Appreciateyou. Hey, thanks guys, you're
(18:14):
talking with you, yes, Sir, Aaron Goldsmith of Root Sports. He
says that it would He thinks theMariners dodged a major, major disaster with
the Holy Rodriguez situation yesterday and notbeing worse than it could have been.
His quote was what a major disasterthe Mariners avoided there, But he said
it wouldn't shock him if Rodriguez missesthe entire Angels series with the sprained ankle.
(18:37):
He expects a trade to get donebefore the deadline July twenty third,
excuse me thirtieth tomorrow, Aaron,Fans wishes it was July twenty third.
Something could get done. But hethinks is gonna get done. Something's going
to shake loose here and get done. But as his point is, they've
got the pitching to do this. The offense just needs to get a little
bit better, not anchor. He'sright about that. It doesn't have to
be a massive upgrade here, justa little bit toward the mean. And
(19:03):
that's what he said. Points isthe reason why he thinks the Mariners can
get this done and still win theAmerican League West tell him what to do
a text line, Yeah, werealize Aron Goldsmith the Mariner's employee. But
your reaction to that, he's he'salways pretty straight with us. I think
he's he didn't hold back. Hewas as I asked him, Hey,
you look at one hundred and onegames into the season, is this where
(19:25):
you expected him? And he brokedown why it's okay, I'm happy.
But at the same time, cominginto training or I shouldn't say training camp,
but you get where I'm going withit. Coming into the season,
he didn't think it would be likethis. It's the way they're doing it
that He's like, come on,guys, it's the pitching, as he
mentioned, we haven't talked about it, but the pitching is so great.
(19:45):
Mariners asked Mariners and Angels with thethree game series at the Yard and Soto
Mariners in Houston tied atop the AmericanLeague West coming up, tell him we
do text line. It's game time, it's tell a time, and next
it will be time to read yourtext. Ninety three point three KJRFM,
(20:08):
Welcome back Greg Bell to the Newsto being in Christopher Kidd with you on
ninety three point three KJRFM. Yeah, I was trying to avoid the Ryan
Blist news that i'd seen. Ohyeah, as soon as he brought it
up, I just saw your face, and I guess I probably shouldn't have
asked that question, knowing that hecould possibly mention, hey, there's also
some other news Chris. Don't knowif you've been paying attention, but uh,
yeah, related to this, andI said, oh, sorry,
(20:32):
Gregy. I wanted to say sorryin your ear, but I thought my
face kind of gave it away, like oops, my bad. I just
I thought it would be a greatquestion to ask regarding Tyler Locklear, and
then he was like, gotcha.Jason Vossler is the roster move, replacing
the waved Ty Franz. Fossler hasbeen a third baseman, first baseman and
part time corner outfit or at TripleA to come with twenty home runs a
(20:52):
two eighty nine average for the Verniers. He is called up Ryan Bliss sent
down back to the I get it. He is batting two twenty. He
had a rough weekend. Well,we had one pinch hit appearance. I
was it struck out Friday night.Too many strikeouts of course, twenty one
strikeouts and fifty nine at bets, but that puts him right at home in
the middle of the Manners lineup fitsright in five stolen bases but three caught
(21:15):
stealings. He had not started agame in a long long time. He's
been a pinch hit or pinch runner, late defensive substitution going back to fourth
of July. So I mean Iget to move, but I still think
that's what to mension this team needsfor close late games. Amusing means four
nine, four to five one.Tell them we'll do text line. It
(21:36):
is time to read back your textNo Dirk Diggler, Deckler, No Boogie
nights on the radio, not yetwe're still trying to figure out a way
to do that. Well, we'regonna kick things off with three things from
Joli. One, the computer thatmanages must be off because Service keeps pitching
standic and big spot. Yeah.Number two, JP Crawford is slow,
(21:56):
doesn't steal bases and batting two hundred. You should not be a lead off
hitter again. Computer gotta be off. Number Three, my computer says to
fire Service. Much love, Joel, Joel, be nice. All right.
I know you're tired, and there'sa lot of people that agree with
you on the text line that theyshould do something with Service. But the
Mariners are still tied for first. They have a great opportunity, a great
(22:21):
opportunity to take the lead and makeit five or six games. Obviously depends
on what the Astros do. Theythey have to lose as well, but
the Mariners still have a good chanceto really capture this division. They still
have time. They have sixty onegames left. I can say that.
Look at that sixty one games left. So yeah, sorry, I hear
(22:41):
about Crawford though, in the leadoffspot. I mean, it's tough to
have a leadoff hitter ben two tofour with a two ninety six on base
percentage. That's that's tough. Strikingout twenty three percent of the time,
highest strikeout percentage since he joined theMariners years ago. I'd put Roblace at
one right now at this point, hmm, you're hotest hitter. See if
(23:03):
he can get on base. Yousaw him still two bases in a game
the other night. That's what Iput Roblays at one from the two five
to three. Are you guys watchingthe same Mariners team that everyone else is?
Seems like the pitching has not beenquite a spot on as you guys
are making it out to be.The bullpen has let him down at times,
(23:23):
and the bridge from the starting pitchingto Munos is still an issue Stanek.
We mentioned this about five times thatStanik went ten games out allowing a
run, and now he allows arun every time he enters a game.
His era is over four. That'snot what you need, is your bridge,
guys. Santos they were still notwanting to pitch him in back to
(23:44):
back days, and there are timessay they want to pitch him and won
every three games either. But it'sabout time to take off the training wheels.
As we talked with Daniel Kramer lastweek about Santos needs to be your
bridge Eighthenning guy from the four twoto five Analytics telling me the fans need
another firework night. You know what, well played? I agree. From
(24:08):
the two five to three. Iwould be embarrassed if I needed the general
manner to go and find someone tobring offense to the team. Let's get
these guys some counseling to find somepride. Maybe see the Wizard of Oz.
Wizard of Oz. That's a newthat's nice. From the two five
to three. Cool the man who'svote the record of fastest losing fastest to
(24:33):
lose a divisional lead. Next willbe the most loss in the second half
of a season, question Mark. That would be the manner thing to do.
Why do I bother rooting for thisteam because you're a Seattle Light.
I love the Mariners and you're hopingthat this is the year that they break
through. Can't be mad at that, I feel you. Let's see from
Marcus two six they gave up elevenruns over three games to that offense.
(24:56):
Pitching is fine and Sol's service okay, see again it bears mentioning. Scott's
service has been here nine years withJerry Depoto, and he is in lockstep
with the Poto's plan of analytics andhitting approach and how they play the game.
And obviously the Poto is doing aexactly as the Poto wants it done
way of playing games, setting lineups, all of that. Dupot's not gonna
(25:18):
fire him. It would take stantonfiring both to Poto and Service, and
you're not gonna do that in themiddle of the season. You don't come
at a regime change in the middleof the season like that. So it's
not like Topoto is gonna let goof Service, whether I'm tied for first
place. Service is a guy thatcarries out to Poto's plan plain and simples
analytics to a fould from Teddy BallGame five six two. I was going
(25:45):
to watch the Mariners starting Friday throughSunday, but as good luck would have
it, my Amazon firestick burned outand I got my Game of Thrones complete
DVD set that was delivered. Soit sounds like you enjoyed yourself with some
action and violence and didn't miss myon the gards to Mariagers as they went
one and two lost to the Astrosoff the series. But still have the
(26:06):
series, not the series, buthave the Ale Division tied up, so
Ale West. That is so hopefullythey can bounce back tonight and get a
win. We shall see. Blissis out stupid. That's from the two
o six. You know, GregBell is right there with you. As
he mentioned briefly going into the segment, I can I text the text line
myself. That's not for me.Though you can do that, I wouldn't
(26:26):
know it's you. I didn't dothat. That wasn't me. But I
agree ooh from the two o six, I test Bliss not an everyday major
league baseball player. I get that. The twenty one strikeouts fifty two I
understand why. Yeah, but hegives them a speed dimension that they don't
have otherwise. Luke Ratley can run. Yes, Rod Blaze is stealing bases
(26:48):
recently. Play those guys and theywill. There's a lot of Mitch Hanneger
hate on this text line that heshould be the next to go after the
Ty France wave. Yeah, I'mnot going to read that. You know
is about Hanniger at the moment.Because of the Holy Rodriguez injury here for
next three days, they probably needoutfield depth and if you move Raleigh.
So here's what they got. Iwas saying to put Raley at first base,
(27:12):
but if Hilaria Rodriguez gonna be outmultiple days, you got to put
it Ralely in the outfield. JasonVossler could play first base, whom they
just called up a half hour agofrom Triple A Tacoma. You may need
Hanneger in the outfield for the nextfew days at a minimum, But I
hear you he's he's not helping themat the moment. That goes without saying,
(27:33):
Michael Oil. The two five, three sixty one games left still allowed
to go, and I for onehave not heard the fat Lady sing yet.
Go Mariners. Here you go,Michael, he's not giving up.
US is half full. They aregood. They are in first place on
July twenty second. They are Theyhad ten game lead twenty six days ago.
But yes, they are still infirst place, tied for from the
(27:55):
four two five. Why in theBoogie Knight's heil does Stannic pitch so much?
It because he looks like someone fromthe movie. I honestly, that's
a good one. But I don'tI don't think so. I don't yeah,
he's really been in effective. Reuslyto say the least from the fourth
contest needs to get his innings. That's true as well. From the four
(28:15):
two five win the division, thirdto last, slugging, third to last,
obp third to last, and runlasting, batting average fast to one
thousand k's and an eighty win team. One of the most atrocious lamps ever
assembled. They're not wrong there, but somehow they the pitching is able to
(28:36):
carry them. And as we mentionedwith Aaron Goldsmith, if the team just
hits up there, some of theplayers, a lot of them just hit
at their averages. That's probably tenmore wins right there. If they just
raise their team batting average five points, it might be enough. It' said
what to eighteen? It's a nastynumber there. Eighty wins, by the
way, would be twenty seven winsover the final sixty one. Just saying
(28:59):
that would not be good, Justsaying that'd be a long, long slubber.
I think Mitch Garver might be thenext guy that needs to say,
well we tried, Oh well wetried. Sounds like you're giving him the
boot. Okay, that's fine, fair enough. Let's see am I missing
anything, Greg, you see anythingI haven't said yet. Yeah. From
(29:19):
the two o six. My sonis stationed in Poland in the Army.
Gronkowski came to visit his base.My son got to meet him and tell
him that some of the Seahawks fans. Of course, I lost it because
it updated. You see that one. Oh see, the trick is you
can't use that version. Let mego find it again. I know which
one you're talking about. I didsee it well before, hey, he
(29:45):
said. My son got to meetGronkowski and tell him that some of the
Seahawk fans are still upset about theSuper Bowl, including his dad. Gronk
just laughed, laughed. Luke mySon said. Gronk is a very funny
and a great guy. I'm veryappreciative of Gronk doing this. The Army
staffing levels is at an all timelow, and my son is working a
lot due to the shortage. Heis currently at a NATO base, but
(30:06):
has been having to travel to otherlocations and work extra shifts. I'm very
grateful to Gronkowski for giving his timeto support our troops and my son.
Bravo. Good for him, Goodfor Gronkowski. Yeah, he's been heavily
involved in USAA, which has outreachedto military installations around the world, including
from the two oh six to Texterhis son in Poland in the army,
(30:29):
and hats off to your son, sir, I'm assuming, sir or ma'am
for serving our country and defending ournation. Last one from the four two
five, kid, you did itagain. I bet Xander just like last
time, only this time I betone hundred dollars, but I still won
over one thousand dollars. Good job, my brother. Look at you,
man, If you want to kickme some cash, you know I'm not
(30:52):
opposed to that. He's got elevenhome runs right now, though, well
he's he's going to miss some time, so I don't know how much of
a I beg that'll be. Buthave you seen the mayor? I haven't
one more from Michael from the twofive three honest question. Could you see
us the Mariners selling instead of buyingat the deadline? Would you be surprised?
I would be surprised, but Icould see them doing that there.
(31:15):
Do you give up the point oftheir is? Do you really give up
top prospects for a team this flawed? That's a that's a legit question.
Are you going to give up twoof your top fifteen prospects for a huge
bat like Lewis Robert from the WhiteSox for a team that is this flawed
offensively? A fair question? ThanksMichael from the two five three. Whether

on ninety three point three kJ rf M if you missed the news from
the Manners at top of the hour. They have recalled Jason Bossler, a
thirty year old third baseman sometimes firstbasement corner outfielder from Tacoma and sent Ryan
Blisstown. So Locklear is not comingup to replace Ty France, who've got
(33:14):
waved yesterday and has forty eight hoursto clear league waivers before the Mariners decided
what to do with him next,or he decides to be a free agent.
I had to send him a mapand some smoke signals to show him
where the station location was. Buthere is the infernest back from back,
got to see what the hell? How are we doing? We missed all
(33:35):
kinds of fun When you were itwas just great? Well would you do
what was the fun part? Justhere? Every just here, Chris okay,
yeah, yeah, just pretty newtea. Yeah. Count the days
till training camp starts forty eight hoursfrom now. Yeah. Yeah, well
here we are. Yeah, fortyeight hours seems so early it is July
twenty fourth. Yeah, it's acouple of days earlier than I think they
(34:00):
were going to have. I mean, I thought it was fifteen days before
that rule change apparently. I meanit was used to be fifteen days.
No earlier than fifteen days before thefirst preseason game, which would have been
Thursday. It had been Friday, the twenty sixthcause they play on Saturday in
August tenth. Yeah, yeah,it would have been Friday. I thought
it was July twenty sixth. Idon't know them a rule changed. Yeah,
(34:21):
Okay, well there you go.So no surprise that Abe Lucas and
Terrell Dotson plus Jerome Baker on thepup list to begin training camp. You
know, the question I'm curious aboutis that do when they signed Dots in
Baker they had to have physicals?Right? They have not been on the
field at all? Like what I'mjust curre like, it just doesn't it
(34:44):
doesn't make sense to me what wehad. Buffalo Bill's writer Ryan o'howaran from
the Buffalo News last week. Hesaid he was surprised one at the money
that Seattle gave dots And for apart time player with the Bills. Who
he says, has never been asignal caller, never won the Green Dot
in buffal and he was also surprisedto hear they were surprised the buffle to
hear about the injury and the factthat he wasn't on the field because he
(35:05):
played in the last game for theBills and was fine coming out of last
season. Okay, that's weird.Jerome Baker had the wrist surgery from the
wrist issue that limited some last yearin YEA. I think we've talked about
this the end, but Jerome Bakermay be a bit player in this defense
if they use Witherspoon and Nickel asmuch as it looks like they're going to.
I mean, he went McDonald wentnickels seventy nine percent of the time
(35:29):
with the Ravens last year in OTA'sin mini camps, Witherspoon was exclusively a
nickel. I didn't see him outsidefor one scrimmage snap as a corner,
so they were nickel and all thetime there were scrimmage in this offseason,
you could have Rotherspoon on the fieldand nickel eighty percent of the time,
which means you got to take aline. But typically take a linebacker off
the field, and you would thinkthey'd keep dots in their signal caller on
(35:50):
it. Well, the linebacker beingthe inside linebacker is one of the two
with the Wilson and we're looking ata four or five man front right just
on the coming the rush outside linebackyou got and Will Sue and Boy Mafey
as you're outside, maybe Darryl Tayloris a situational guy. You'd probably have
the one middle linebacker like they didlast year with Bobby Wagner. Was Yeah,
(36:12):
Nickel, that Dotson would be theone inside linebacker unless they wanted to
be Baker as the loon inside linebacker. But you wouldn't think Baker and Dotson
would be both on the field, and Nickel, Well and McDonald, I
trust until otherwise. Right, I'lljust say that because I and you know
that the I the pup stuff.I guess the good thing there which I
(36:32):
liked is that Bradford's off it already, Yeah, which is nice, And
we'll be ready to go because Ithink there's some competition to be had at
that position. But yeah, Imean, listen, I'm not sure.
I'm not sure if I'm ready forthis yet. But I'm curious to see
what you just said, how allthe puzzle pieces fit together in his in
(36:53):
his defense, and see what itlooks like to mention, I saw Draymond
Jones and outside linebacker Drill Well, they're paying him so much, he better
do something because they didn't get theirmoney's worth last year. That's to day.
She could be a stand up outsidelinebacker pass rusher in this defense,
he's gonna they're gonna be moving. He needs to be a something next to
this. Sharon Reid could be astand up pass rush defense the way that
(37:15):
McDonald's guys, you'd tell you. He'd probably tell you that he can do
that too, even if he can't. So, yeah, did Jessmon McIntyre
publish instructions on how to host ashow? Or what do you have going
to? S't been here either,Remember she's been gone longer than I have
with a better reason. Yeah.Yeah, mine was just like, actually
it took some time. I stillleave vacation time on the table every year,
and I'm not sure why I dothat. I gotta I gotta figure
(37:37):
out a way not to do thatanymore. But yeah, so we'll we'll
try to restart the engines, getthe pilot light going again, like your
furnace in the office in the wintertime. And see what happens when we
got a mulliwap by the way today. Yeah, I figured I'll see how
that one goes. That's coming upat the boys at one o'clock today.
Among other things, they were probablyasked why Tyler Lockley is not on the
(37:58):
Mariner's roster. Yeah, it's abit piece of the puzzle. I like
the bigger pieces. Just I know, just everything like they're stone in first
place, I in, I knowthey they not including yesterday, think about
this, the pitching staff held theirthe offense of the Astros to what two
(38:19):
six eight runs over three games, and they went one and two. We'll
get to that. We'll get that. And Forness will be on the air
from twelve to three because he isunearthed and back. He found his way
back from Maple Valley to join youfrom twelve to three on your ears in
