think safe to say like even better, especially the rotation than I think anybody
could have reasonably anticipated, which Imean is the rotation that had high hopes
obviously, but they've had just someincredible moments and stretches so far in this
first half. But then the offenseI think is noticeably, noticeably worse than

any of us thought it would be. I truly, guys, I went
into opening day really believing that thisis the deepest lineup that this regime of
the Poto and Service have ever had, and I think on paper it remains

We all know how good Julio isdefensively, I think kind of nationally,
he still probably is a little underthe radar for whatever reason. And for
him to run full tilt like hedid to try to make that catch was
pretty remarkable to give himself up likethat, and fortunately it does not seem
like it'll be a long ston awayfor Julio. Victor Roblay Saren had a

really good series. Obviously, thenumbers show it, and although a small
sample size, hitting three ninety sincehe became a Mariner a twenty five games

the only team he'd ever been with, goes to another organization, and you
wonder, he wonders, I'm surewhen am I ever going to get another
chance to impact the ball club andimpact games on a regular basis. And
now he's been. He's been obviouslythe mariners best offensive performer for a short
stretch of time now and it's justsuch a great story and good on Roeblaze
for taking advantage of an opportunity thathe's been given. Unfortunately, he's been

given the opportunity because the Mariners haveneeded it, right, They've needed something
anyone and it's been Roadblaze to gethot. And we saw something kind of
similar in years past with Mike Fordand this Ford had a great month stretch
at a time here and there forthe Mariners, but for Roblays answer your
question, he will be in thereas long as he is hitting. The

Mariners are obviously thirsteam for offense,and we have seen him move from the
ninth spot to the two spot,and I'd have to imagine he will not

that it's Ryan Billiss who's been sentout. He's been optioned back to Tacoma
and Jason Vossler, who is nota name familiar with probably a mini fans
a meerra fans I thought it's isbeing called up to the Mariners. He'll

be making his Mariner's debut. He'sa guy who has had a little bit
of time in the show, someat bats over the last few years,
not a lot, but he hasbeen in the big leagues. And when
we heard about the news of France, I think everyone probably assumed lock Leader
would be the replacement, but itis Bossler, and he's hit really well
in Tacoma, which I mean,I want to be very clear about that,

doesn't hitting well in Triple A today, guys has not necessarily guaranteed success
at the major league level. Thereis such a massive gap right now between
major league pitching and Triple A pitching. Doesn't mean the Dvosser can't come up
and have success. I'm not sayingthat at all, but there's nothing automatic.
I hope we all know that.But he's hit very well. To
his great credit, he has hitwhere he is, which there's nothing more

you can ask for from a player. And he's got some real defensive versatility,
which for all the skills and traitsand lord that Locklear has and he's
earned, he's a first basement andthat's where he's going to play. The
DHRE is going to be a firstbasement. I'd have to imagine. I
haven't heard anybody from within New Yorktalk about this yet. Just happened,
but I'd have to imagine that hisdefensive versatility does play a role of him

being called up. He can playthe corners in the infield, he can
play the corners in the outfield.He's had a game or two even at
second base or shortstop in the courseof his career. I don't see that
happening. But the point is hecan move around a little bit. So
for those two factors, he's beenhidden well and you can move him around.
I'd have to think that those aretwo of the main ingredients. Is
why Bossler's coming up. Sixteenth roundpick of the Chicago Cubs in twenty fourteen

came up as a third baseman.Vossler and he has twenty home runs down
at TRIPAA in eighty nine games.Well bet in two eighty nine if even
he does a fifth of that,that would be improving. Aaron Gold the

the point that the Mariner's in thecuouse the players are expecting Jerry Depoto to
make a deal. They're almost lookingover their shoulders waiting for it. That
there's an expectation that the offense isgoing to get upgraded, at least with
an attempt via trade. Do yousense any of that? You know,
I don't know, I think Iwould be a fool to try to speak

for the players on something like that. I haven't asked any of them that
directly. I do think that allplayers have a sense for their environment,
right, whether it's just what theypick up on their own, what their
agent is telling them. They allhave people in their ear and they're no
fools. Even the young guys havebeen around. Even the young guys have

been traded right that are on thisteam, so many of them, so
they know what happens, especially thistime of year. And you know,
for the Mariners, it's a situationwhere I'm not sure what they can do
given how frozen the trade market isright now. My anticipation would be that
this is there will be a flurryat the very finish line, simply because

there are so many teams, particularlyin the National League, that are in
the wildcard picture, and that theJerry's of the world, the other general
managers and presidents of baseball operations,they will wait and they will hold as
long as they can to see whetheror not their team is in it and
they should make a push or ifthey should sell. So the Mariner's in

a position where they obviously need helpnow, but it's also a chance to
improve your ball club moving forward.But the thing I think that can't be
lost guys. Yes, I wouldanticipate something. I don't know what it
is, but I would anticipate,whether it be a bat of open arm
or preferably both. But the bottomline, over half of the Mariners' lineup

is underperforming based on their even theirown expectations, not just the outside.
There isn't a realistic number of peoplethat you can bring in hitters in particular
I'm talking about that will change things. Can an augment and help and supplement,
absolutely, but for this team toget to where it wants to be
and produce like it believed and Istill think believes it can. I truly

think that there's not a single memberof that clubhouse who doesn't firmly believe that
they can and should be and willbe better. For those things to happen,
the guys right now in uniform haveto be better. And they know
that I'm not saying anything that they'renot aware of. They feel it.
It's been one hundred games, it'sbeen disappointing. That's what has to happen.
In conjunction, I would think witha mover to erin give listeners all

Mariner fans, of course, areason why they're going to do this.
Why you think in October they're goingto win the West and be home field
advantage for the first round of theplayoffs. What about this team that you
cover every day tells you that theycan do this? Well, the first
thing is something we haven't talked aboutat all, and I understand is the

pitching. I mean, the reasonthey can do it is the pitching.
There, sun comes up, it'salways there, It's always there. I
mean, I think one of mybiggest lessons learned about baseball, if I
didn't know it already, just coveringthe Mariners and being around them every day
for this recent run of let's callit three years or so, where the
pitching has been so dynamite and beenamong the game's best, is you will

always be in it if you canpitch. And that's one of the oldest
adages in the game. But I'veseen it play out in front of me
every day for three plus years.So they have elite level pitching and an
elite level rotation in particular, andthe bolton that's getting healthier right Santos is
available now, Spire is back.So that's the main reason is the pitching.

Their offense does not need to beclear. Their offenses not need to
get to Dodger's status, right likethey do not need to score five runs
a game, right and be inthe top five or even ten in offense
in the game. They need topush from call it bottom five to more
hovering somewhere near the mediums. That'sall they need. I say all like

it's an easy thing. It clearlyhasn't been an easy thing, but that's
what they need. They just needto get somewhere closer to the middle of
the pack. And their potential islimitless because there is not a single team
in baseball that would want to facethe Mariners in October with their pitching.
I mean, in a short series, heck, you can put Bryce Miller
in the bullit they want, rightAnd in a long series and a seven

gamer, you've got more horses thanthey do in the rotation. So and
the Mariners are proven that they canhit home runs, which is a factor
in the postseason as well, butthey have to start making more contact.
Do they have to make the mostcontact absolably not but they need to start
making more contact and if they cando that with what they already have in
place on the mound, it's limitlesswhat they can do. It really is.

of time in the show, someat bats over the last few years,

doesn't hitting well in Triple A today, guys has not necessarily guaranteed success
at the major league level. Thereis such a massive gap right now between
major league pitching and Triple A pitching. Doesn't mean the Dvosser can't come up

I hope we all know that.But he's hit very well. To
his great credit, he has hitwhere he is, which there's nothing more

you can ask for from a player. And he's got some real defensive versatility,
which for all the skills and traitsand lord that Locklear has and he's
earned, he's a first basement andthat's where he's going to play. The
DHRE is going to be a firstbasement. I'd have to imagine. I
haven't heard anybody from within New Yorktalk about this yet. Just happened,
but I'd have to imagine that hisdefensive versatility does play a role of him

being called up. He can playthe corners in the infield, he can
play the corners in the outfield.He's had a game or two even at
second base or shortstop in the courseof his career. I don't see that
happening. But the point is hecan move around a little bit. So
for those two factors, he's beenhidden well and you can move him around.
I'd have to think that those aretwo of the main ingredients. Is
why Bossler's coming up. Sixteenth roundpick of the Chicago Cubs in twenty fourteen

they know what happens, especially thistime of year. And you know,
for the Mariners, it's a situationwhere I'm not sure what they can do
given how frozen the trade market isright now. My anticipation would be that
this is there will be a flurryat the very finish line, simply because

there are so many teams, particularlyin the National League, that are in
the wildcard picture, and that theJerry's of the world, the other general
managers and presidents of baseball operations,they will wait and they will hold as
long as they can to see whetheror not their team is in it and
they should make a push or ifthey should sell. So the Mariner's in

a position where they obviously need helpnow, but it's also a chance to
improve your ball club moving forward.But the thing I think that can't be
lost guys. Yes, I wouldanticipate something. I don't know what it
is, but I would anticipate,whether it be a bat of open arm

is underperforming based on their even theirown expectations, not just the outside.
There isn't a realistic number of peoplethat you can bring in hitters in particular
I'm talking about that will change things. Can an augment and help and supplement,
absolutely, but for this team toget to where it wants to be
and produce like it believed and Istill think believes it can. I truly

think that there's not a single memberof that clubhouse who doesn't firmly believe that
they can and should be and willbe better. For those things to happen,
the guys right now in uniform haveto be better. And they know
that I'm not saying anything that they'renot aware of. They feel it.

In conjunction, I would think witha mover to erin give listeners all
