last week against Miami, and then the two top two
outside linebackers and Chenna Wosu came back to practice Wednesday.
I made a big deal out about it because he
hadn't practiced in a month since the sprain knee, and
he didn't practice much the rest of the week. He
is out tonight. Boye Mafe, who played with an injured

knee last week. He injured that knee in Week two
in New England while getting a sack or two. He
had two sacks of his three in the season that game.
Then he didn't practice last week and still played against Miami.
He's the co leader in sacks with darry Hall. He's
not playing either because of that knee issue, So it's
going to be Derek Hall and Trevis Gibson most likely

at outside linebackers. Gibson hasn't played more than seventeen snaps
since they acquired him in the trade from Jacksonville last month.
I'd go nickel. I bet they're gonna do a lot
of nickel in three safeties with Kevon Coleman Nickel, with
Witherspoon inside, Trey Brown outside. The danger doing that, of
course against the Lions, Chris is if you go a
lot of nickel, they're just gonna run, and they'll run

Jamar Gibbs, and they will run David Montgomery at the
lone nose tackle they have on the active roster Jonathan Hankins,
a Detroit guy, and test the fact that Byron Murphy's
not there, test the fact that they are depleted at linebacker.
It's going to be a chess match to see how
many times the Seahawks can get away with Leeta Nickel
or extra defensive backs tonight and how much Detroit runs

basically he's gonna have to have that type of performance

is probably gonna get some burn, Derek Hall's gonna.

A lot of these dudes are gonna be playing a

be gaping holes, I think at times, just because you're
missing two of your studs, and Leonard Williams and Byron
Murphy who have been playing pretty well on the run
and they are important pieces to this run defense. And
when there's lanes now you're asking your linebackers to make
play guys in the secondary and Numero Uno. Usually Devin

Witherson's always there and that's what he loves to do.
And I think he's gonna have an opportunity tonight to
really prove that he can do a lot more, especially
when guys are down. I think the run game is
going to be strong for the Lions. I'm hoping it's not.
But unless my Morris, Jonathan Hankins, Miles Adams and those
guys can really fill in the role of what Leonard
Williams and Byron Murfin have been bringing, it's gonna be tough.

Not to mention, you Tendan Nwosu, who was out and
everyone I know a lot of people thought he was
going to be available for this Monday night matchup, especially
because the Seahaws didn't put him on IR to begin
the season. You were thinking, Okay, yeah, he'll be ready
for Week four for sure, but he's not available. So
now you're relying on Draymont Jones, who's been up and down.
I'm sure Trevis Gibson's gonna get some burn as well.
So it really comes down to the other guys stepping

up and doing their job, and if they do it well,
the Lions could struggle. But that Lion's offensive line is really,
really good, and I just don't see it letting up
and struggling much against this depleted D line right now
with Leonard Williams out, Byron Murphy. And then, not to mention,
you're tennant Wolfsu, who hasn't played at all this season.

missed the four weeks minimum that he would have been
on injured reserve, they could have saved the roster spot there,
so he was going to be back. He came back
to practice Wednesday for the first time of the month,
but his sprain medial collateral ligaments still not good enough
to practice throughout the week or to play tonight against Detroit.
And so we mentioned Travis Gibson has had this seventeen snaps.

That's his most he's had in a game so far.

He's going to play a lot tonight opposite Derek Hall

as for those who have to step in.

I wouldn't say it's any different than I've got four
guys that are down. That's four more guys are going
to be up. Looking forward to seeing those guys play.
When you talk about having depth in your football team,
you want the feeling to be like, Okay, I can't
wait to see whoever's going to get that opportunity now.
So that's our view, is that guys are gonna have
more opportunities and they than they've usually had and looking
forward to seeing what they do.

Chris, we haven't mentioned yet that Jerome Baker is questionable
to play because of his hamstring.

He should not play. Okay, that's not we come on, man.

This is he's had his hamstring injury, if I'm not mistaken,
since training camp. He needs to rest, he has to heal.
One hundred percent of hamstring is not something where you
can you know, I can probably go eighty no, because
all it takes is one explosive attempt to move left
or right latterally going forward, going backward, and you can
put yourself back in the same position you were in.

If he is not filling one hundred percent, he should
not play. It's not worth the risk. He's already missed
some time. Let's not continue piling on the time. I
would say, make sure you are one hundred percent healthy.
Hamstrings are nothing to play with, and go ahead. I'm
sorry you just mentioned him running latterly. That's how he
reheard it in New England.

Yeah, it's just Jacobe Brissette got outside the pocket and
Jerome Baker sprinted across the formation to the sideline and
you could see I could see from the press box

he went out the next series and did not come back.
Tyree Knight is probably gonna start again at weak side linebacker.
And they liked what Drake Thomas did. He's usually a

special teams guy. He's taken John Radigan's roster spot. Essentially,
Drake Thomas has coming back from injury in the summer,
and now Drake Thomas stands to get more than the
one third snaps that he got last week. It was
more of a two third one third, with rookie Tyree Knight,
the fourth round pick from UTAP, getting about two thirds
of the snaps. But they really liked Drake Thomas last week,
and I bet he plays more than the one third

of the time that he had last week. But there's
another that's another. Yeah, they are going to need him,
and they are going to need more than just one
guy to fill in for Jerome Baker. As we expect
Baker doesn't play tonight, that'll be the real game time story,
the game time pregame news ninety minutes before kickoff. When
I get to the stadium, I'll be writing for the
Newstribune dot com about Jerome Baker and whether he plays

or not. Yet another member of the front seven for
the Seahawks that may not play it and that would
be five, five of the regular top seven that could
be out tonight against one of the best teams in

two years here in Michigan, and that's just shoot lights
out Chris. He has had a passer rating of one
twenty three in the two victories that Seattle has scored

passer rating Gino Smith for his entire career dating back

to the rookie year with the Jets eighty six, almost
fifty points higher in the last two games he's played
in Detroit that have become shootouts. If Gino Smith can
be anything like he was the last two times they've

so far. Haines has only had one play in the opener,

when Anthony Bradford got hurt and had to come out
and go to the tent for one play. And then
in week two they had Christian Haynes play one series
in the first half, in one series in the second
half of Bradford. Last week Haynes didn't play out. He
plays as much as you and I did. He's gonna

it's dicey to put a rookie third round pick into

that scenario. At least Anthony Bradford has been in ford

this is a great chance for Christian to go out
there and show that he can take this position and

they want it done in training camp, but that's not

Monday night in that regard before they got to week five.

it's not so tonight. Christian Haines can definitely take the
stride and show that he is better and then maybe
he is the starter from here on out. But someone's
got to take the reins.

This offensive line needs to get finalized and it needs
to be in some consistency, especially if they want to

Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubbs said that they need Haynes to
be just tougher and more physical that. That's the one
thing going for Bradford right now is the strength and physicality.

be gaping holes, I think at times, just because you're
missing two of your studs, and Leonard Williams and Byron
Murphy who have been playing pretty well on the run
and they are important pieces to this run defense. And
when there's lanes now you're asking your linebackers to make
play guys in the secondary and Numero Uno. Usually Devin
(10:45):
Witherson's always there and that's what he loves to do.
And I think he's gonna have an opportunity tonight to
really prove that he can do a lot more, especially
when guys are down. I think the run game is
going to be strong for the Lions. I'm hoping it's not.
But unless my Morris, Jonathan Hankins, Miles Adams and those
guys can really fill in the role of what Leonard
Williams and Byron Murfin have been bringing, it's gonna be tough.

Not to mention, you Tendan Nwosu, who was out and
everyone I know a lot of people thought he was
going to be available for this Monday night matchup, especially
because the Seahaws didn't put him on IR to begin
the season. You were thinking, Okay, yeah, he'll be ready
for Week four for sure, but he's not available. So
now you're relying on Draymont Jones, who's been up and down.
I'm sure Trevis Gibson's gonna get some burn as well.
So it really comes down to the other guys stepping

up and doing their job, and if they do it well,
the Lions could struggle. But that Lion's offensive line is really,
really good, and I just don't see it letting up
and struggling much against this depleted D line right now
with Leonard Williams out, Byron Murphy. And then, not to mention,
you're tennant Wolfsu, who hasn't played at all this season.

missed the four weeks minimum that he would have been
on injured reserve, they could have saved the roster spot there,
so he was going to be back. He came back
to practice Wednesday for the first time of the month,
but his sprain medial collateral ligaments still not good enough

And so we mentioned Travis Gibson has had this seventeen snaps.

guys that are down. That's four more guys are going

When you talk about having depth in your football team,
you want the feeling to be like, Okay, I can't
wait to see whoever's going to get that opportunity now.
So that's our view, is that guys are gonna have
more opportunities and they than they've usually had and looking
forward to seeing what they do.

Chris, we haven't mentioned yet that Jerome Baker is questionable
to play because of his hamstring.

He should not play. Okay, that's not we come on, man.

This is he's had his hamstring injury, if I'm not mistaken,
since training camp. He needs to rest, he has to heal.
One hundred percent of hamstring is not something where you
can you know, I can probably go eighty no, because
all it takes is one explosive attempt to move left
or right latterally going forward, going backward, and you can
put yourself back in the same position you were in.

If he is not filling one hundred percent, he should
not play. It's not worth the risk. He's already missed
some time. Let's not continue piling on the time. I
would say, make sure you are one hundred percent healthy.
Hamstrings are nothing to play with, and go ahead. I'm
sorry you just mentioned him running latterly. That's how he
reheard it in New England.

Yeah, it's just Jacobe Brissette got outside the pocket and
Jerome Baker sprinted across the formation to the sideline and
you could see I could see from the press box

he went out the next series and did not come back.
Tyree Knight is probably gonna start again at weak side linebacker.
And they liked what Drake Thomas did. He's usually a

special teams guy. He's taken John Radigan's roster spot. Essentially,
Drake Thomas has coming back from injury in the summer,
and now Drake Thomas stands to get more than the
one third snaps that he got last week. It was
more of a two third one third, with rookie Tyree Knight,
the fourth round pick from UTAP, getting about two thirds
of the snaps. But they really liked Drake Thomas last week,
and I bet he plays more than the one third

of the time that he had last week. But there's
another that's another. Yeah, they are going to need him,
and they are going to need more than just one
guy to fill in for Jerome Baker. As we expect
Baker doesn't play tonight, that'll be the real game time story,
the game time pregame news ninety minutes before kickoff. When
I get to the stadium, I'll be writing for the
Newstribune dot com about Jerome Baker and whether he plays

or not. Yet another member of the front seven for
the Seahawks that may not play it and that would
be five, five of the regular top seven that could
be out tonight against one of the best teams in
the NFC, a Super Bowl contender. So how did the
Seahawks do this? Well? One way? One key would be
for Gino Smith to do what he's done the last

two years here in Michigan, and that's just shoot lights
out Chris. He has had a passer rating of one
twenty three in the two victories that Seattle has scored
forty eight and thirty seven points in each of the
last two seasons one twenty three. For perspective, his career
passer rating Gino Smith for his entire career dating back

to the rookie year with the Jets eighty six, almost
fifty points higher in the last two games he's played
in Detroit that have become shootouts. If Gino Smith can
be anything like he was the last two times they've
played here, they've got a chance. He talked about this
week how this past week about how he loves the

been to Ford Field know this. The stadium, the Lions
fans are as loud as anybody. And now with the
dome and the way the team is rocking, and the
fact that they have a lot of time between now
and eight to fifteen Michigan time tonight to drink a
lot of root beer before kickoff. As I always tell
my kids, they are going to be rocking. G You know,

Smith said he loves it. He loves that environment. He
loves how it tests their resilience, it tests their composure
on offense, it tests their silent counts, which they're going
to be doing with Connor Williams and whoever is at
right guard tonight, which is also a question, whoever is
at right guard tapping Connor Williams to trigger the silent
count the right guard situation. Let's talk about another key

to the game. Anthony Bradford, of course, has started the
last three game. The first three games of the season,
he leads a team by far with six penalties, second
most in the NFL. Heading in the Week four he
got injured. He had an injured knee in the opener.
The knee issue sidelined him from practice on when on
Thursday Day and Christian Hayes, the rookie third round pick,

was the starter in practice Thursday. Bradford came back to
practice Friday and Saturday, and Saturday after practice, Mike McDonald
was pretty coy in saying that both will play. Both
Haines and Bradford will play at right guard, but he
wouldn't specify how much. He said, we'll have to see
how the game dictates. Well, they have a plan already
so far. Haines has only had one play in the opener,

when Anthony Bradford got hurt and had to come out
and go to the tent for one play. And then
in week two they had Christian Haynes play one series
in the first half, in one series in the second
half of Bradford. Last week Haynes didn't play out. He
plays as much as you and I did. He's gonna
play more tonight. How much more, we don't know, but Chris,
it's dicey to put a rookie third round pick into

that scenario. At least Anthony Bradford has been in ford
field for an NFL game.

There was nothing at Yukon, not even Niland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee,
last year that will replicate what he's going to get tonight,
noise and communications wise, that's going to be a tough

It's a good test from though, it's a great, great
opportunity to show you can be a starter, show that
you can be better than what we've seen from Anthony Badford.
All things in company that you're going on the road
against a tough team, I would say an NFC rival,
not to challenge the Niners or anything, but this is
a matchup that is important. It could come down to

a tie break at the end of the year. Did
the Seahawks win this game did they lose it? So
this is a great chance for Christian to go out
there and show that he can take this position and
run away with it. I know this is something that
they want it done in training camp, but that's not
how it has happened. It's week four then pretty much
the end of week four, last game I guess for
Monday night in that regard before they got to week five.

But you would have wanted this handled months ago, but
it's not so tonight. Christian Haines can definitely take the
stride and show that he is better and then maybe
he is the starter from here on out. But someone's
got to take the reins.

It's a little late, but someone has to do it.
This offensive line needs to get finalized and it needs
to be in some consistency, especially if they want to
be able to run the full ball effectively with Ken
and sharbonay and even if Kenny mckato's gonna get some touches.

Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubbs said that they need Haynes to
be just tougher and more physical that. That's the one
thing going for Bradford right now is the strength and physicality.
The two other keys to the game. We talked about
Aiden Hutchinson against Stone Forsythe Forsythe He's not a plan
ce right guard's supposed to be Abe Lucas. We don't
know when he's coming back. George fance On injured reserve
at right tackle, so it's gonna be Stone forsythe tonight
(26:39):
against Aiden Hutchinson. Hutchins's had four and a half sacks
in a game two weeks ago at Tampa Bay. He's
already got six and a half sacks in three games,
leads the NFL. He's going against the third string right tackle.
Expect a lot of chips, Expect Noah Fan to be involved,
expect the Zach Sharbonay to be involved. And pass protection.

I don't expect Kenneth Walker to get too money pass
pro reps with a strained obleague. But Hutchinson against forsythe
and everybody Ryan Grebs schemes with and he's already has
conservative pass protection schemes at the other key. And then
a third key, fourth key we talked about already in
the middle Jonathan Hankins and his most extensive action tonight,
the thirty two year old, twelve year veteran in the
(27:22):
middle of the Seahawks defensive line against one of the
better offensive lines in football and against the running back
tandem of David Montgomery and Jamier Gibbs. The Seahawks win
two or three of those and get turnovers, they can win.
Turnos have been a big factor of the last two weeks.
I mentioned on the Chuck and Bucks Show this morning
at seven o'clock. The last two times they've played here
in Detroit and won both games, the Seahawks had five

combined turnovers, including a pick six return for a touchdown
by Trey Brown.
