Speaker 1 (00:00):
How have you been.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
I've been pretty splendid, you know, summer running, having fun
with the kids, trying to make it through the sprinkler
without getting wet. It's business, you know, running around. It's
been a good summer. I'm also a little fatigued, so
I could use an.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
App Yeah, I know, I hear, I hear you on that. Well,
I want to ask you a little bit about about
things folks can do. Obviously, as we get late in
the summer season, days get shorter, our our physical and
mental internally, our clocks start to kind of shift around
a bit, and there are some things that you can
do to keep yourself energetic, keep yourself happy. But again,
also getting a nap from time to time is good

(00:40):
for your health as well. We'll talk with Tim about
that and so much more. Speaking of opportunities to talk
with Tim O'Brien from The Healthy Place, Love do to you?
Have you join the show this morning telephone, I'm gonna
get on the air six O eight three two one
thirteen ten. That's six eight three two one thirteen ten
is telph a number. The website for the Healthy Place
find your Healthy Place dot com. That's find your Healthy
Place dot com. You can also find the Healthy Place

(01:02):
online Facebook, social media including places like Instagram and YouTube
as well. Again, find your Healthy Place dot COM's got
linked to all of those great sites beyond Instagram, for
example at find your Underscore Healthy Place. Great day to
get on in, whether it's the West Side, Fitchburger, Sun
Prairie location of the Healthy Place, and Wednesday mornings Wednesdays
in general, I always look forward to Wednesdays. There's an

(01:24):
extra little bonus if you get a chance to get
into the Fitchburg location.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
What's called every Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
I work at the Fitchburg Store from ten to five.
So it's a personal invitation to anyone listening. If you
have a health challenge that is small, medium, large, and
it could be for you or another loved one maybe,
and you simply want to know what supplements, what nutrients,
nutraceuticals have been working for our community for those specific

(01:52):
health challenges. That's an invitation to come over to the
Fitchburg Store ten to five any Wednesday. I'm working there
at those times. I love it, Sean, I mean I
get to work with and I get to give high
fives to all my favorite peeps that I've known since
you know, the early Apple Wellness days, and so it's
a shout out to all my people as well. I
got at least two I've counted maybe three. I'm working

(02:12):
on one.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
That is awesome. By the way, real quick for people
to go, why did you change your name from Apple Wellness?
You used to get folks that would come in thinking
that you were a computer store.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
They thought we made computers well Apple Wellness, and you'd
get phone calls and I'd see my employees across the
way answering the phone like, well, maybe try turning it
off and then turning it back on.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
You know, at the end of the call, we'd be like,
you want some vitamin C.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah, And that's and you know what's one of the
cool things too. You mentioned kind of getting in and
the wellness consultants and loving what they do and have,
you know, with with questions and sometimes people call with
some some things a little out there about maybe.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
It's all about it.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
It's people's health and it's their life. And uh, a
lot of folks don't really stop long enough to think
about their health or the different areas of health. And
I like to share from my story because it kind
of leads in my weakness, so to speak. So I've
had pockets that I've been very responsible for in the

(03:15):
area of my health. You know, things I've been passionate
about that I've kept up on and paid attention to.
And so then from that platform, you know, in my mind,
i'd say, hey.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
I'm healthy.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
You know, I'm the healthy PDACE guy, and sort of
like minimize or not take seriously these other areas of health.
And for me, I'm pretty transparent with those. It's like
managing stress. I've been I've been real irresponsible with that
over the years. And I like to use that word
because it's our responsibility to take care of our health,

(03:48):
and if we don't, that's sort of like irresponsible. It's
sort of like a waste. It's sort of like taking
the resources we have and thrown them into the wind.
It's like if you have gold, you kind of want
to protect that gold, and your health is gold, you know,
like physic gift health phy is a gift they're with
fighting for.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
I say that a lot.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
So hydration, simple basic hydration, been super irresponsible over the years.
Sleep health, you know, I brought up a nap and
I'm serious it. I've been Sean, you'd be so proud
of me. I've been going to sleep by ten thirty
every night.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
I know that's a big step sleep.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
I'm saying sleep is more important than work, is what
I'm telling myself, and I'm believing it more and more.
So these are areas I got to work on right
and and my gluecose. Like I wasn't consuming a ton
of sugar, but I didn't realize or understand how foods
can work and spike glucose in an unhealthy way. So
it's a reminder to all listening. You know, like you,
you may care about your health, and you may not

(04:44):
stop long enough to think about your health. So whether
it's while you're driving here right now, like think about
your health and what areas you're battling and make incremental steps,
like make tiny changes. You know, these incremental steps build momentum,
and then you start to feel better and you have
more energy and lower stress and better sleep.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
And it's been really neat, Sean.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
I mean, one area about four months ago that I
changed was my my glucose just the sequence, just the sequence,
and how I ate because I read about a twenty
fifteen Cornell study that had group one eating a certain
sequence vegetables, then proteins, fats, then starts as sugars in
that order. What the study revealed was it immediately started

(05:28):
reversing type two diabetes, which I thought was pretty interesting,
and then was as effective as met Foreman. In other words,
the people taking met Foreman could change the sequence in
that they eat and they would have a similar result.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
So that was sort of interesting.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
So I just changed the sequence and then I ate,
you know, instead of eating the French fries first.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
If I'm having hamburgers, yes.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Fries, you know, a salad, Now I'm eating the salad first,
then then the chicken, you know, and then the fries.
And just that change of sequence, like my energy shone,
like my sustained energy throughout the day, my sleep health,
like my strip health. I've felt the difference. And when
I'm you know, off the bandwagon, I feel that too.
Just the sequence.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
It's interesting. So make if you're listening, make tiny changes.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
And the Healthy Place is here to help fan that
flame wherever people are at. And we named our website
finds your Healthy place dot com because it's about finding
your healthy place. You're the CEO of your own health
and our jobs to help fan that flame. So if
you have a challenge, whether to call in or stop
in the store or Tim at find your Healthy Place
dot com, get a conversation started, if not with my company,

(06:31):
somewhere else like your Health's Gift and Fight.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
For Today's a great data ignite that sparkle I got
to just pick a phone, give his call love David
join us gets you on there with Tim O'Brien from
the Healthy Place online find your Healthy Place dot com.
That's find your Healthy Place dot com. Folm lines are
open for you right now six oh eight three two
one thirteen ten. That's six oh eight three two one
thirteen ten. Haven't mentioned yet for folks that do call in, Tim,
not only a great conversation, but give a little thank.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
You for taking the time, don't you. Quanty five dollars
gift card is a thank you.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
That is a fantastic opportunity for you right now. Six
oh eight three two one thirteen ten. That's six o'
eight three two one thirteen ten. I actually saw you
mentioned that meal sequencing. There's been I've seen some like
National News is picking up on this as well. But
months ago, months ago, it might have been it might
have been spring. I was in visiting with you and

(07:18):
and you were telling me all like, for folks that
don't know Tim, Tim is you've got you've got energy,
but there are these times where you've got this like
extra high, like this glow to you, this this like
and you were raving about this.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
I was so excited, Yeah, tell me more.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
And and I thought, well, that's really interesting what you
were talking about. And then all of a sudden, I
start seeing all these stories. I'm like, Wow, people are
listening to listening to what Tim is talking about. And
it's funny because like these than you tell me, it's
all you. It's it's like these little lifestyle modifications. And

(07:56):
again it's it's not like you're losing out. You're literally
just changing little things. You're still getting what you love.
You're just doing in a different order have profound effects
on people's health.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
You know, it really is.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
You know, I have you ever seen like a lightning
like rod or like a mini one that gets closer
to electricity, and the closer it gets, the more electricity
flows to it. And I know I have these weird
analogies when you add you make these little tiny like
incremental changes, and it's moving you closer to the electricity,
Like you feel better and you think, like more clearly,

(08:30):
and you make more responsible decisions, like I'm so much
more emotionally based or emotionally driven, or make emotional decisions
when I'm more tired, or when I'm hungry and I'm
not eating well, or when I'm feeling angry or irritated
or lonely, you know, being aware of it, like taking
care of your health, being aware of what you're you know,

(08:53):
putting your own oxygen mask on before putting it on others.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
Like I always kind of.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Laughed at that, but like truly taking care of yourself,
being as passionate about I even feel silly saying it,
like self care and recovery. You know, it feels like
weak in our culture sometimes to say those things. And
if you don't intensely focus on that, you cannot. Like
the most the most successful, the people that like cause

(09:19):
these huge changes in the world, Like they're often focusing
on their recovery and their health in a very intense way,
because to sustain the weight that we carry, right, I mean,
we all have such busy lives and it's so heavy,
it's so it just gets lighter when you take care
of yourself and more fun you talk.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
You get those those kind of like those disruptor people
that suddenly come on they like they like are really
revolutionary and really make change. That's that is I always
find that stuff fascinating as well. Is like is again
going back to little little changes in your lifestyle that
can have a profound effect. But also people that are saying,
you know what, I'm going to challenge the status quo.
And I think one of the things that I find
amazing about the Healthy Place and what you guys are

(10:00):
doing is you are challenging the status quo. You guys
have been challenging for for fifteen plus years now, the
idea that that the best solution is automatically pharmaceuticals and saying,
you know what, there is a role for that, but
there are natural options and alternatives as well that you
can reap the benefits on a better level. And to me,

(10:21):
that's that that's a big deal as well. Is that
kind of that that disruption and not just for the
for the pharmaceuticals side of it, also in the supplement
world in realm as well. I know you have experience
working in some of the other structures and just said,
you know what, here's what I like, but also here's
what I don't like, and this is what I want
to apply on.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Yeah, thanks, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
It's super I love the conversation because, I mean, we
have the most advanced medical teams in the world in Madison, Like,
I love it. We have some of the top medical
teams like surgeons and nurses and pharmacists and doctors in
the world. And just at the beginning, like AI, I mean,

(11:02):
the age of medicine ahead of us is going to
be really cool to be a part of. And then
there's this natural side, you know, and the natural paths
and the medical doctor used to sit at the same
table and talk things through, and so then then to
get to be able to be a partner to the
medical side and Dane County here, I view myself as

(11:22):
a support a natural alternative. You know, there's other companies
besides just me doing providing natural care. And so I'm
a part of this team in Dane County. So that's
like paradigm one. Like I love that conversation, and I
want to be and I want to continue to grow
in our contribution in that area. And then in the
supplement space, I kind of feel a stewardship or responsibility

(11:42):
to educate because most of the supplement industry is not
very good quality. Like most of the supplement industry doesn't
absorb very well. It's very small potence or a low
potency source from places there's heavy metals concerns, contaminants, the
label claims don't match the content of the capsule. Even

(12:03):
mass market brands. You'd recognize that at mass market locations
don't have label claims matching content because the FDA doesn't
regulate the industry like at all, and so that's you know,
probably not good to know. And so then you know,
we like to educate on the brands that are better quality.
There's hundreds of good brands, but there's thousands of bad ones.
So we like to help educate people on how to supplement.

(12:25):
Because nutriceuticals, I've always been fascinated what happens when you
give the body the right nutrient. It was tough paradigm
number two I get excited about. So thanks for mentioning.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
What I what I find fascinating to You mentioned sourcing,
and I know one of the other areas that we've
talked about in the past, I haven't talked about in
a while as well. Is is I know, for example,
you mentioned what you carry at the Healthy Place, and
also there's other other things out there and kind of
that standard and having that independent verification of what's in
them and what those sources are coming from. That is

(12:54):
a big deal. And for folks that are you know,
looking to start that journey, start that quest, not only
are getting a chance to meet with a highly educated
somebody that works at this stuff day in and day
out with the wellness consultants, but the products that are
available at the Healthy Place, they are things that you
stand by as a matter of fact. Tim everybody's a
little bit different. Sometimes things work differently for different folks.
Some things work better for some and you say, listen, well,

(13:17):
literally put our money where our mouth is. If you're
not seeing results, bring it back in. We'll find something
that's going to work for you.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
We actually want people to bring stuff back if it
doesn't work, because everybody is different, so we're always going
to recommend what's consistently most successful for the community. You
can imagine, Sean, there's certain topics that we hear about
dozens of times per day, like chronic pain or arthritis
or frig aralgia, you know, the headaches like these are
very common every day. So then we get to refine

(13:45):
our craft and sharpen our make our recommendations more successful.
And so when somebody doesn't see results from a recommendation,
then we want them to come back because there's I mean,
think about it, there's thousands of supplements that we have,
hundreds of brands, and there's a reason for that. It's
because there's so many different types of people and types

(14:07):
of issues and angles to come at it from a
nutraceutical standpoint, that option two. If option one doesn't work
for the community, often option two does. So we want
people to come back, bring it back, get option two,
and then that one works, you know, and then we've
helped fix the problem. So that's really the best approach

(14:27):
in the supplement industry because everyone is just so different.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
And it's a great day to start that, to start
that conversation, start that journey, get on in whether it's
the West Side sun Prayer Fitchburg location of the Healthy Place,
don't forget today's Wednesday. That means sims hanging outation, love
see you, love to get you that high five. Love
to give you that wellness consultation as well. Again, whether
it's West Side, Fitchburg or Sun Prairie location the Healthy
Place Online, find your Healthy Place dot com that's fined

(14:51):
your Healthy Place dot com. Check in with the email
bag and we'll also get to so much more as
asked the experts with the Healthy Place, and Tim O'Brien
continues right here thirteen w ib A my goodness.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Two introductions in one. It brings it. I am pumped
up now.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
It brings the power, it brings, the brings thee hey.
I will as we talk this morning with Tim O'Brien
from the Healthy Place Online, find your Healthy Place dot com.
That's find your Healthy Place dot com. West Side of Madison,
Fitchbrooks On Praier locations, love to get you in. I
want to ask you to Tim about obviously you've been
back at the back in the stores a couple of
months now and at the specifically hanging out Fitchburg from

(15:29):
ten until five. Hope to close at the Fitchburg location
up the Healthy Place. What's up been like for folks
that have come in to see you. I know you've
got a chance to reconnect with folks, but also some
folks that may have, you know, known each other from
the radio for years. Finally getting a chance to put
a face to the voice. That's gotta gotta be a
great and rewarding experience for you, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
It's been pretty fun because there's twenty ten to twenty
twenty customers. You know, you talk you see him every
month or every other month for ten years. You know,
you learned their stories. You hear about their families and
their pets and their loved ones. And health challenges are
so personal to people, so you're talking literally about people's

(16:08):
health all day. It's very personal. You get to know
people care about them personally. And twenty twenty to end
of twenty twenty four, I was over at my office
about an hour from the or On not an hour,
about a mile from the Fitchburg store, right behind the
breeks over here in Fitchburg by the movie theater, and
I began to just miss my people, you know, like

(16:31):
my community. You know, you get to see the results
like right in front of your eyes with helping people,
and it's really rewarding.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
I've always loved it.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
So I determined to go back into the store one
day a week for that community connection and so it's
been pretty cool. And now Sean, I get to share
on this foundational care clinic that we're opening in the
early next year, and I'm so excited about the future
because we get to find new ways. You know, I've

(17:00):
been talking about how do we accomplish our mission statement more,
which is impact and power and educate every customer human
in Dane County to learn, grow and create this lifelong
foundation of health and wellness, to empower them to be
the CEO of their own health.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
Like that's always been the goal.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
So at the end of you know, fifteen years, we're celebrating,
Becky and I sat down, how can in the next
fifteen years, how can we multiply our mission statement in
Dane County?

Speaker 3 (17:32):
How can we move the needle more?

Speaker 2 (17:34):
And we just started asking that question, started praying about that,
and we're like, we need to open this clinic. I
think I think Dane County really needs it. So we're
going to have, Sean, it's so exciting. We're gonna have
functional medicine, doctors, license natural paths, you know, nurse practitioners,
and I can't wait to share more.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
But I'm keeping it on the d album. There will
be more coming soon. So yeah, that's what's been going on. Yeah,
we're going to move some mountains here.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
As we stay saying radio, keep stay tuned and keep
your radio set here.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
Tow but you hear it here first.
