I'm your co host Jamie Balco and James James.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Where are you?
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Who's this guy?
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Who me?
Speaker 4 (00:18):
I'm just mild mannered Clark Kents of course. Or am
I that Superman the entire time?
Speaker 5 (00:28):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (00:30):
What else is amazing is we're here at Fan Expo
Boston twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Yes, it's a premiere event.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
This is like our our annual tradition, our annual migration
of not only movie and comic lovers, but you know,
every fan pop culture in between.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
And what is this must be five years in a
row that we've done or so.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
That we've been here. Yeah, from COVID to today. I
think it's just grown so much. There's gonna be so
many people here today. Huge list of celebrities.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
Yeah, we have Iwan McGregor, mister Obi Wan Kenoby Aiden Christensen,
mister Anakin, sky Walker himself, Simon Pegg of all the
of every great movie there is Simon Pegg and a
bunch more people, John Cena, John.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
C The list goes on and on.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
We're actually right in front of where a lot of
the autographs are going to be happening so very excited
to say celebrities, but more excited I think to see
those stressing up in cosplay as their favorite characters.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Absolutely. So, we like we do every year, we look
for the most intense, crazy, creative passionate right with electronics
and stilts and the you know, the whole line.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
Years.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
I've already seen a lot of good stuff. This is
day one.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
The event hasn't technically started just yet, but we're already
seeing a lot of really great cosplay.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Yeah, and so we're definitely going to be featuring those people.
And James also, I wanted to make combet with you. Yes,
I want to know who you think what costume character
do you think it's going to be the most popular
this year?
Speaker 4 (02:02):
I wonder, I wonder what it could be. I wonder
what it could be. Well, of course, I think Superman
is gonna be a big favorite Fantastic four. I think
it's a pretty simple cosplay costume because they're basically.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Wearing pajamas, blue pajamas.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
You you I know there's a new movie that you
just watched that you think and I think will also
be big here.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
One that I really really want to see. I want
to see Kate Pop demon Huh. Yeah, I don't want
to just see K Pop Demon Hunter. I want to
hear Kate.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
We want to see some dance movement and choreography.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
We want songs, you know, we want to be done, done,
done and by the amazing you know K Pop Demon Hunter.
Costplays that we are going to find here too. Yeah,
so so much to look forward to.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Not only that, the merch, the merch.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
There's something calling for your wallet is there now?
Speaker 4 (02:48):
There's always something And every time I come to a
to a fan expo, the lightsabers, I've seen what was it,
Theory Sabers. Shout outs to Theory Sabers. We're gonna check
you out, check out your Sabers. And again, my my
I have money burning in my hawket right now.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yes, my goal is to convince James.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
That my wife this does not happen. Well, we have
a lot to get into, a lot to check out.
But again, I'm very excited to see the costplay. We
love it, and our fans, the Hub club members love
the costplay too. Among our most popular videos is this
span expos really.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Excited particular that we found last year. We're gonna find
more of that. We're gonna buy merge, We're gonna see celebrities, and.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
We're gonna go do that right now, let's do it,
fly out, Superman. You know what they say about big guns.
They hurt your hand, They heard your hand, That's what
they say. But for our listeners who may not be
(04:04):
able to see what we're looking at, you describe what
are we looking at.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
I'm a Stamport of Bridges from Debt Stranding.
Speaker 6 (04:11):
I have my BB pod strapped to my chest and
my Audre deck over the shoulder, mounted to my backpack,
and it's got lights and if it will work motion,
Come on, do I need to do anything?
Speaker 7 (04:29):
No?
Speaker 1 (04:29):
I just need the controls to Oh are we go?
Speaker 7 (04:34):
Love that?
Speaker 8 (04:34):
So?
Speaker 1 (04:35):
What kind of things? So in addition to this, what
else do you make? All kinds of things?
Speaker 6 (04:41):
I mean, I like engineering, specifically for the purposes of cosplay.
So I built the dubstep gun from Saints Row. I
built the pulse scanner from Rainbow six Siege and we'll
step over here real quick. Yeah, the Electro staff from
Star Wars that it's wielded by Magna Guards, General Grieves's guards.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
That's really cool. So how did you get into this?
Speaker 6 (05:12):
I originally was going to school for engineering and switched
to computer science because it paid almost as much for
a lot less work. But I still loved engineering, so
I decided to do it for myself.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Excellent. And what do you think about fan X about Boston?
Is it first time at this one or are you reading?
Speaker 6 (05:33):
I've been the fans of Boston many times. I love
this cons It's a great time.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
There's tons of.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
Fun cosplays and celebrities and things to do, people to meet.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
Because does Boston have a different vibe compared to other
conventions in other cities?
Speaker 6 (05:49):
I would say so Boston parties pretty well. DC parties
pretty well.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
There's no shortage of bars here.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Yeah, my name's.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Jeff, and Jeff, what are you today?
Speaker 8 (06:04):
So we are the Massachusetts Ghostbusters today.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
That's amazing. So are you a group based here in
Massachusetts or do you travel around primarily Massachusetts?
Speaker 8 (06:14):
Where do you get some people from as far down
to New York and as far up as main Oh,
it's amazing.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
And you've got some crazy gear here. Can you tell
me a little bit about We've got the Ghostbusters car
looks like the original and so much gear. Tell me
a little bit about it.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Go for it.
Speaker 8 (06:28):
Yeah, so this is an actual nineteen fifty nine Cadillac Eureka.
It's kind of a system model to the car you
actually saw on the show, but we did all the
custom roof racks that we got, the lights, the equipment
up top.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
A lot of the.
Speaker 8 (06:40):
Proton packs fit in the gurney that you see in
the movie, and I'm swinging on over this way. We've
got a bunch of our own proton packs.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
We used a lot of.
Speaker 8 (06:48):
Three D printing for ours, so we have basically what
the prints look like raw and then an example of
what it looks like completely finished, as well as some
other custom parts. I'm working on a series for the
Fright Features figures, so that's another bit of stuff that
people can interact with and play around with.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Yeah, that is so amazing. Tell me, how did you
guys find each other? Like create this group?
Speaker 8 (07:13):
I've found them, I think through the Boston Saint Patrick's
d Parade. That's kind of our first event for the year.
It's a good way of getting ourselves out there. We
do have a website. It's anm Ghostbusters dot com, so
anyone can go find us on that way, and that's
a good way to reach out to people.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
That's awesome. In a Massachusetts specific question for you. How's
the ghost hunting here?
Speaker 8 (07:35):
I bet it's good, especially up in Salem. Yeah, that's
always a hot zone for us.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Do you guys go to Salem every day?
Speaker 2 (07:42):
You know the folloween time?
Speaker 8 (07:44):
Oh yeah, we have a yeah group that goes to Salem.
We're doing a wedding event out there toward the end
of November, so yeah, yeah, we get out there.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Oh ry and so anywhere else people can find you.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
We do have some socials.
Speaker 8 (07:57):
We got I think a TikTok, We've got an Instagram
and then website is our standard go to.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
All right, happy ghost hunting.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
I'm going in.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Excellent, Thank you?
Speaker 3 (08:23):
What is the way? Thank you?
Speaker 4 (08:28):
I met Mando, I me Mando. Oh I know what
to say? Oh ten, Oh there you go. Yes, that's
all I know. But the language, hopefully it's a good thing. Jess,
(09:00):
So you've heard of Crypto the super Dog. That's Crypto
but with a C.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Exactly super robot. James, I have a question for you. Yes,
are you embarrassed that you were wearing exactly the same
thing as Wally a green? Oh?
Speaker 4 (09:14):
How can we be yes, my good Wally, we're matching. Look,
we're matching. We're all super We're all super today.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
I were the wrong thing today.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
I'm sorry, boo.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
Get out of here, Get out of here, get out here.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
This is a Superman hour. This is the Superman hour
right now. I think it's time for us to get
loud and get proud to get this morning started.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
You'll feeling that.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Here, feeling.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Man, that's my Boston. I think we're about to get
this crock to lock in.
Speaker 9 (09:48):
Up.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Help us cut the ribbon.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Here we go, all right, really really slowly.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Okay, here we go.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
On account of three you guys ready, one, two, three
is officially Phoenix some time me so it's one more time.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Thank you all.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
We're timing us for this one and more.
Speaker 10 (10:17):
Takeoff, pick all week, smiling after best top of your life.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
You're here with Liam Hendrix of the Red Sox.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
It's not often that you see a combination of sports
and comic and movies kind of combined, but it sounds
like you're a very big fan of a lot of things,
including animated Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
I love it.
Speaker 9 (10:35):
Obviously, usually it wouldn't have worked out if the team's
on the road currently, but I'm injured and We've got
to an opportunity to come out here and yeah, I
get out of this all this stuff I've been. This
is my fifth different one that I've been to similar
concept around the country, but this is my first time
in Boston, so I'm super excited to say.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
What matches up.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
So you be here in Boston, you run into different
fan bases. I don't know who's more passionate sports fans
or comic like kind of con fans.
Speaker 9 (10:59):
I think comic They will take you to shreds if
you get it a little detail wrong, as I'm sure
a lot of actors have found out. But yeah, I
came on in the way here and almost hit a
couple of storm troopers on the way.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah, we're talking a little bit about the fandoms that
that you like. You've recognized luf right, But you were
saying that you were Dragon doll.
Speaker 9 (11:20):
Z's every Yes, yeah, by being watching it ever since
it was before I went to school as a kid
and making me late to the bus all the time
back in the day.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
This is many moons you are now.
Speaker 9 (11:28):
But yeah, I have a my shagging gloves in my
atfield glove that I have in the field is named Cackrrot,
and I've had a different version of that probably for
the last about ten years or so.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
So yeah, I love it all.
Speaker 9 (11:37):
And I got a different little couple of collections. I
got the little like figurines all in my closet and
uh yeah, you bought the uh the Adidas collaboration they
had back in the day. I bought all seven pairs
of shoes because it makes a shin run on the
side and it's pretty special.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
I get something like that, and you share that with
some of your with your teammates.
Speaker 9 (11:54):
Right, yeah, yeah, So Brian Bayo is probably there's a
lot of guys that watch a lot of anime these
days and they're more comfortable with it because used to
be a little bit more of a taboo subject in
the athlete world, but these days it's.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Out and proud and yeah, briy, Brian Bao.
Speaker 9 (12:07):
Has he has custom one piece shoes, like he gets
a shoes shoe company sends him off to get him painted,
has like one piece all over it and he's a
giant fan. So I'm sure I'll appreciate it without it out.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Without a doubt.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Act Well, last question what kind of costplay are you
hoping to see today? Like, or rather, if you were
to dress up in costplay, who would you.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Dress up as?
Speaker 9 (12:27):
Oh, look, I'm as far as what I'm hoping to see.
I mean, there's another look you're walking around right now,
But as far as I'm hoping to see, it's just
the people that put in the effort. It's fascinating seeing
how much effort goes into these things. The intricacy of
the details, the sewings and and gluing and all the
everything that goes into it is pretty special. As far
as me, I've got a couple of custom storm through
(12:48):
of helmets at the house. I got a Mando helmet
that has the Australian flag on it because I'm Australian.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
So if I was.
Speaker 9 (12:53):
Gonna go anywhere, there would probably be that I can
show hide the face a little bit, which is my
worst features, so I may as well get that out
of the way.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
And yeah, so it's yeah, I'd probably.
Speaker 9 (13:02):
Lean more into the Star Wars rome than anything else,
but I mean, anything's fair game. It's like, I have
no inhibitions about dressing up in any which way or
any gender or anything like that, So i'd be all over.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
So you recited for Hayden and yes, very.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Much so, very much so.
Speaker 9 (13:17):
So it's like between them and Jared Padlechi and the
Supernatural cost You've got John Cena, You've got uh. DJ
Qualls is actually who I'm hoping to meet the most.
I still remember him from the pilot of Criminal Minds
twenty five years ago and that and I'm currently watching
The Man in the High Castle kind of catch up
on that, and he's a prominent figure in that as well.
So because there's a lot of cool people here that
(13:38):
I'm hoping you'd continue get a chance to meet.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Liam.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Thank you so much, appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (13:42):
Go.
Speaker 9 (13:42):
Thank you guys having me one of us, lesa and
a geek.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (13:51):
So we call ourselves time Cobblers. We're a bunch of
weird people that build back to the future replica cars.
This is actually my ninth one. Actually it's tackling my first.
This is my personal car, but I've swapped everything out
so many times that it's it's still being worked on
to this day.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
So nine cars.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Do you ever, you must expect to eventually run out
of cars to transform?
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Right?
Speaker 11 (14:14):
You know, you would think dev A lot of people
like to preserve Deloreans the way they are because they
made about nine thousand of them, and there's about if
you think about four to five thousand left, there's probably
only maybe three or four hundred time machines in the
world that have been converted, you know that way. So
I don't think we're running out anytime soon, but it's
it's harder because they're getting more expensive.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
I mean, honestly, when I bought this car about eight.
Speaker 11 (14:36):
Years ago, it was twenty five thousand, and you know
now they're upwards to sixty thousand for just a normal
stock DeLorean.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
I was gonna say, twenty five thousand doesn't sound that bad.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
It wasn't back then. It seemed like it.
Speaker 11 (14:48):
Yeah, but yeah, I mean now people are a little
more afraid to take a sixty thousand dollars car and
start drooling holes into it the way we do.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
But yeah.
Speaker 11 (14:55):
So this is obviously my personal one. The other eight
were for people that would send their car to to me,
and I'd spent about a month converting it to make
it look like the movie.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
And when you're driving this thing on the road, or
do you do you put this on a trailer. Do
you not even try to drive this on the road.
Speaker 11 (15:08):
So I do drive it more than I should. We've
gotten pulled over and the cops are they're all very
friendly and most of time they just want photos. So
it's gotten a lot of a lot of speeding tickets
because obviously we're driving eighty eight when you know when
driving it.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Of course, of course, what is the most difficult part
to either find, buy, or make to attach to noodleaureus?
Speaker 3 (15:31):
That's an easy one.
Speaker 11 (15:31):
So it's these bands that are lit up blue right
now on the outside of the car.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
That's all solid.
Speaker 11 (15:38):
Metal that it needs to be hand bent, and it
takes the shape of the entire car. It's the hardest
part of any build. Anyone who's ever built a time
machine knows you want to do that once and be
done forever with it. And so this was my first
set that I've done, and we're actually going to be
ripping them back off and doing them again because after
doing it nine times.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
We're a lot better.
Speaker 11 (16:00):
But that's one hundred percent the hardest thing to do
on any time machine.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
What's the easiest part, the easiest thing that's like, okay,
we can find ten of these in a dumpster or whatever.
Speaker 11 (16:10):
You know, it's oh, sorry, I think we're in the way,
in the way.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
Jimmie were pivoting.
Speaker 11 (16:16):
You know, a lot of the parts, they were just
super common things, like like a part of their platonium chamber.
Right here, this is a Dodge hubcap from the nineteen,
I believe fifties, so they're actually pretty easy to find.
They're always on eBay. But where the thing on top
of it is a turbine from a ge Je engine
and you know you cannot find that. You know, if
(16:36):
you find one, you're you're gonna spend at least four
thousand dollars on it, just because it's still used. It's
still a real aircraft part, so you know, it's it's
almost everything back here is just air craft surplus parts.
There's you know, these specific hoses are insanely hard to find.
Now we have aircraft oil separators, aircraft heating units, a
Sikorsky helicopter hose right here. Now, it's all just it
(16:59):
was hard to find back then because it was from
the nineteen fifties, and now it's all insanely hard to
find just because you know, sixty seventy year old parts
that we're trying to track down for a time machine
record is.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
I don't want to see ever your time? But is
it blasphemous? The thing about three D printing some of
these parts.
Speaker 11 (17:15):
We used to do that a lot, but we found,
you know, because the car is always outside in the heat,
they would melt or warp slightly. But no, three D
printing has come a long way, especially in carbon fiber.
I'm not against it, but it's just because it's my
personal car. Everything's got to be real.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
Of course, Jamie was really excited for the foam fighting experience,
so dressed as Loofy, she did her best to represent
the fighting pirate spirits and one piece.
Speaker 7 (17:41):
And a US leg or you were.
Speaker 6 (17:44):
Down on one lege, whatever lake you put forward, that's
you're a live leg.
Speaker 7 (17:50):
King.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
I was very tired.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
How's it going?
Speaker 2 (17:57):
I guess I'm not gonna be King of the Pirates.
The strategy, I don't have strategy. Go back in there.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
So, Jamie, when you said that you wanted to do
go to the foam fights, choices, you made bad choices.
I was imagining something totally entirely different, and so this
actually exceeded expectations and I think it exceeded your expectations too.
Speaker 8 (18:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Exceeded my ability, my expectations, my physical ability, my heart.
It exceeded a lot of things.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
James, I think you got in some good swings in there.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Oh beg you. Yeah, you know who's fighting a nineteen
year old who was decimated. I kept getting my legs
chopped off, my arms chopped off. I think I now,
I think I would have preferred your version of a.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Film, right, yeah, yeah, nineteen year olds they have unlimited power, unlimited.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
All the protagonists in stories are like seventeen.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Yeah, yeah, not whatever age I am. James is no, no,
we're done with the phone. Maybe an hour or two, Yeah,
maybe an hour or two.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
I have to redeem myself for one piece, for Loofy,
for the Hollywood. I just I just need a couple hours.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
Yeah, yeah, Well, while Jamie is recuperating, we're gonna swing
to some more people cosplaying and us more interviews. So
you close your loopy eyes and uh we'll sneak out and.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Do some more interviews. We went into Ryan in a
homemade ghostwriter costume with flaming head and skull that fully articulates. First,
I can't get your name, where you're from.
Speaker 12 (19:33):
Hi, I'm Ryan and I'm from our Furbridge, Massa future.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
You are probably one of the best cost plays I've
seen so far here at fan Expo.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
How long did this take to put together?
Speaker 12 (19:44):
A lot of the the big part of the helmet,
it took about let's say two weeks to print, a
week to code and just all of it, so three
weeks total, and everything else kind of came together very
quickly after that.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
People must be stopping you left to right one hundred.
Do you feel like a celebrity year?
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Maybe? Maybe a little bit? Maybe a little bit so?
Speaker 1 (20:05):
So is this your first time a fantasy spoil? You've
been here before?
Speaker 12 (20:08):
This is my fourth time?
Speaker 3 (20:12):
Third No?
Speaker 12 (20:13):
Yeah, fourth time, no, third time, third time?
Speaker 1 (20:15):
Final answer really quick? I do love And every time
you speak, you're your jaw.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Thank you?
Speaker 12 (20:20):
That was that was I really like that effect. It's
kind of a it's not easy to put on because
there's wire here that has to that makes it work.
But once it's on, it's on for good. It's that's
what makes it and and that's I love the effect
that the job moving gives to what.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Have you come as before? This year?
Speaker 12 (20:40):
This year? This is my first costume for this year,
but tomorrow I'm planning on being Winter Soldier from the
MCU so two Marvel cosplays previously two Fans. But I've
been garlt from the net from the Netflix switcher that
season two Armor. I've been linked from Okarina of Time.
I'm I've been at CEO from Assoussin's Creek Brotherhood.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
I do a lot, I have a lot. I love it.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
So what are you most excited to see or do here?
Speaker 12 (21:11):
I really like showing up in costume and Aura farming
for lack of a renter word, so that is that's
that's really why I come out here, just kind of
show off what I've made and.
Speaker 9 (21:23):
What is it?
Speaker 1 (21:23):
What does the ghost Rider say? What's this thing?
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Your sins are innumerable? I'm here to read vengeance upon
your soul.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
Doesn't get better than that, doesn't get better than that. Hey,
thank you so much. I'm here with mister Rob van
Dam and Katie Forbes. Real, real, big pleasure to meet
both of you.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
Guys, you too, It's awesome to be here.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Yeah, we'll bring in a fantas for Boston.
Speaker 10 (21:46):
Well, you know this is a part of the life
when when wrestlers aren't in their ring a lot of times,
where conventions, colic book conventions, rest and conventions, different athletic
cons and meeting the fans, signing autographs. This has always
(22:07):
been for me, probably my favorite part or or you know,
at least sometimes I'd rather be doing this than wrestling.
Even at the arena's RVD is always the one they
would go out the back door in the middle of
the day. All the fans are outside around the fence
(22:28):
and go around and you know, shake hands, take pictures,
do some autographs. And I know that it means a
lot to the fans, but I used to be a fan,
so I get it. And it also is a lot
of positive energy.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
For me too, you know.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
And speaking about those fans, do you see much crossover
between the wrestling world and comic you know, comic book
or culture bands in general.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 13 (22:52):
I say a lot of the crossover because it's like
the superhero good guy first bad guy type thing. So
I think a lot of fans and of wrestling are
comic book bands and vice versa.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
Is there anything that you guys geek out of geek
out for the most, whether it's movies or shows, or comics.
Speaker 10 (23:09):
Yeah, I'm a lifelong geek and I used to geek
out for comic books, Spider Man, Ghostwrider.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Those are my two favorites.
Speaker 10 (23:20):
Not not part of my current life, but currently what
has taken its place is mafia folklore. Yeah, Lakosa Nostra.
I spend a ridiculous amount of time watching documentaries, reading
books and actually seeing live spots, you know, like I'm
in Boston right now, so of course I'm thinking of
(23:40):
the winter Hill Gang with Whitey Balcher and LaCOSA Osher.
Here was Jerry Angi Julo. Whey Balcher turned him into
the fbis or stooge Dot rated on them so they
could put in the the listening devices and all that
and brought the Italian mob down.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
But that's an area of fascination that I geek out of.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
You know, your stuff, you're your mom's stuff as far
as you know, Yeah, I know, what do you geek
out over?
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Mine is Barbie? I Barbie everything.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
I like.
Speaker 13 (24:13):
My all my tattoos are Barbie or Hello Kitty, or
like Disney. And I even named our dog Barbie. And
there's a lot of Barbie in our house. It's just
it's just something that I've loved as a child and
never grew out of. So it's really cool when I
walk around the convention and see Barbie stuff, it just
is exciting, excellent.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
If our dog Barberie's watched.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
And we love you Barbie, Hi Barbie. Yeah, well, thank
you so much. A pleasure meeting you both, right, well,
thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (24:47):
RB.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
We also stopped by the Triforce Culery booth checking out
some of the best weaponry in all of movies, comics,
and pop culture. So you specialize some of the most
iconic weaponry in all of pop.
Speaker 14 (24:57):
Cultures, anime, movies, video games, TV shows, anything and everything
you could recognize that's done damage to somebody.
Speaker 4 (25:05):
So if you had to give maybe the top three
of like what would you consider most iconic weapons in
all of media?
Speaker 14 (25:10):
Top three, this would definitely be one. It'd be the
Iron Man Gauntlet. So it's full metal, so it's like
a prosthetic lights up as well.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
You said full metal, not not like plastic, non plastic.
Speaker 14 (25:23):
Everything works on him. You recharge him at the bottom
of the hand and then Tony's heart. Right now, he's
a little dead. I'm giving him a charge, but normally
he would light up as well, so for his proof
that Tony Stark has a heart, along with the box
that says from Pepper, because you know, it's the little
details that matter. And then one last one real quick.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
Yeah, let's go this way.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
We're in rude.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
We're chasing a storm.
Speaker 14 (25:49):
Breaker, so voice activated storm breakers seventy five pounds of
aluminum seventy monster seventy seventy five pounds.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
How do you even make that or to get that
to mission to or?
Speaker 14 (26:01):
Well, I didn't make him eat fell from the sky
of course.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
How much would this run somebody back? On average? About
twelve hundred coul hundred. It's totally worth it. Well, I
appreciate talking to you guys.
Speaker 14 (26:10):
Man, I'm gonna get back to work, all right, I
find you. So it's gonna be Triforce Costplaine.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
Accessor's Facebook and then the website.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
It is just Triforcecutlery dot com. Thank you so much,
hoping you.
Speaker 5 (26:19):
Yeah, my name is Anne Marie Ville Neev and I'm
from Quebec City, Canada.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Oh wow, and so you came all the way down
here for Fanexpo Boston this year, and I can see
why you are wearing something incredible. For our listeners who
aren't on YouTube, can you describe your costume?
Speaker 5 (26:38):
It's a Lady Deadpool, but it's a bidazzled version. So
I bidazzled every inch of this costume from head to toe.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Every centimeter from head to toe. And how did you
do this? Yourself?
Speaker 15 (26:52):
Did?
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Yeah, that's unbelievable. How long did this take you? It
took about three hundred hours to do it. Oh my goodness.
And I imagine it costs also, yeah, it cuts.
Speaker 5 (27:04):
It costs a couple of hundred dollars, like maybe six
hundred dollars.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
Yeah, I think it's amazing the way that it came out.
So you've got the belt, all the pockets, even the
weapons are p dazzle down to the boots and the
weapon and the hair. Unbelievable. What inspired you to create this?
Speaker 5 (27:23):
I did a mystique raven cosplay back in twenty eighteen
with Crystal, So as I know that many people would
cut play like Ladypool or Deadpool, I wanted to add
my own twists, so I decided to be dazzle it.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
That's amazing. So when you come to these conventions, so
what is it, what's the main thing that you come
here that you enjoy. Is it everybody's seeing what you've created?
Do you go to panels?
Speaker 5 (27:50):
I spend so much time working on my costume that
it's a pleasure just to wear it, and when people
enjoy it, it's very heartwarming.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
So you've taken a lot of pic I imagine.
Speaker 5 (28:00):
Yeah, yeah, it's it's kind of hard to walk, honestly,
and it is, but it's so so sweet and the
people are so nice. It's really rewarding.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
It shows. It shows all of the effort and all
of a lot bit that you put into the costume.
Thank you. Is there anything at Finance Po Boston this
year that you're looking forward to the most?
Speaker 5 (28:22):
I want to see nice gasplay. And I also have
a few friends that follows me on social media that
I've never met, so I'm looking forward to meet new
friends and just enjoyed a moment, and it's my first
time at a palm in the USA, so I'm really excited.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Well, welcome and thank you so much. We appreciate you,
and James for those of us who for those of
our listeners who can't see they're not watching on YouTube
but are listening to us on the podcast, can you
describe your costume, who you are, and what it looks
like it is made out of.
Speaker 15 (28:52):
I'm cosplaying as Hotsuna Miku. The cosplay is made almost
entirely out of tony beads. The wig, the mask, the
whole shirt, the belt, the bag change, the lanyard, all
tony beads.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
And you did this yourself?
Speaker 1 (29:14):
I did?
Speaker 15 (29:14):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
How long did this take you to make?
Speaker 15 (29:19):
It took in total about a week where this was
most of what I was doing.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
Wow, only a week. That's that's must have been day
and night pretty much. So what inspired you to create this?
Speaker 15 (29:35):
I really like making stuff out of tony beads. I'm
very into it. I've been making stuff for years, and
I wanted to try making a cosplay. And because I
like Vocaloid, and because there are so many different variations
of Miku, I thought Miku would be the perfect cosplay
to start trying to do bead costplays with.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
So this is your first attempt at this.
Speaker 15 (29:57):
This is my first attempt at the whole cosplay. This
is the first week I've ever made.
Speaker 13 (30:02):
Well.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
I think it came out amazing, Like just if you
could do a little spin really quickly, that is just
unbelievable and I cannot believe that you made that in
a week.
Speaker 16 (30:13):
I'm Adrian, I'm from Milford, Massachusetts.
Speaker 7 (30:17):
I'm Thomas. I'm from Franklin, Massachusetts.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
Excellent.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
So for for listeners who can't see us, who are
we today?
Speaker 16 (30:24):
I'm Fred from Scooby Doo.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
I am Velma Dinkley from Scooby Doo.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
And as you mentioned, you had your whole team, the
whole the whole mystery team. They're they're out in bout,
looking forward, look, looking to solve stuff.
Speaker 7 (30:36):
Right, Well, Shaggy and Schoomery are no. Shaggy and Scooby
are probably raiding a kitchen somewhere, and Daphne is currently
has been kidnapped by whoever we're trying to bust.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Makes sense, makes sense? How do we come to this,
to this causeway? We'd like Scooby Doo.
Speaker 16 (30:54):
We thought it would be funny.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
That's a good group cosplay.
Speaker 7 (30:59):
We were in between and the characters from Gravity Falls.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
Oh it's nice.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
No, are you gen Z gem millennials or don't I
would I would not assume that many gen Zers would
know about Scooby Doo or have a passionate fan base
about that around that Well, for.
Speaker 7 (31:18):
Me, I really liked the Mystery Incorporated show that came
out around when I was younger. I didn't really watch
the original shows, but I did watch a version.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Of Scooby Doo.
Speaker 7 (31:29):
Since it just keeps new shows come out for newer generations,
So I feel like Scooby do is something anyone from
any generation can appreciate appreciate since there's so many versions
of it.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Yeah, and I have people stopped you guys for photos
or anything like that yet.
Speaker 16 (31:42):
Actually, at the beginning when we first got here, whoever
was letting us in took a photo of us, which
I thought was really funny.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
But yeah, Thanktually. What are you guys most excited for
her here at fan nextpo.
Speaker 16 (31:52):
Honestly artist Sally. I love artists, Sally know. Also just
seeing everyone's costumes. It's so much fun just seeing like
recognizing things to be like oh shit, like that's like
that's so cool, Like I.
Speaker 7 (32:04):
Love that thing, Like you're so I'm excited for well,
this is my first fan xpough, so I'm just excited
for the entire experience.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Love it.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Can you get a quick I don't know, quicks bounce up?
Speaker 4 (32:16):
I don't know if there's a slogan, go go go
seees Jinky's Yeah, Jinky's excellent, Thank you so much for
the lung pieces. Now Jamie had to redeem herself and
phone fighting reputation with a second round, this time with
the advice from myself of trying to stab the other
fighters in the back while they're not looking.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
Now and again, stab people in the back plan. I
don't like that plan. It worked.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
I can't want to We learned.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
We learned that stabbing people in the back is good
and how we win.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
What a fantastic time Fan Expo, Boston, twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
This was incredible.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
This is amazing, James. Yeah, I was not expecting there
to be so much energy, so many unique costumes.
Speaker 4 (33:05):
Like the thing is, like it just you keep seeing
one great costplay after another after another after another. We
just we saw a bedazzled Lady Deadpool. We saw a
very accurate Uh master Chief. We saw, you know, the
plethora of great characters weapons.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
People viewed a baseball star who loves Dragon ball Z.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
Yeah we how old did you hear that? A Red
Sox player All star talking about Dragon ball Z? That's
an exclusive, I believe, right, so great time all around,
a list celebrities talking to folks, answering questions. It doesn't
get any better than this. I want to say, this
may be my favorite fan expo today.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
I think you're right. And it was just just just
on Friday, just on the opening day, that that energy
that we bring back here to the scene of my
earlier humiliation. But you know that I couldn't let that rest. No,
of course I had to give it one more.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
Trun you had to.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
That's what Lufy would do, and that's what Superman Slash
Clark Kent would do.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
And speaking of which, people love our costumes too.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
Yeah, yeah, we got a lot of recognition. I expected
that your costume would be one of the more popular ones, exactly, guys,
and it was. I saw. We saw a lot of Superman.
We saw a crypto, a robo crime.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
No real k pop, no real k pop.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Very disappointed, but we did see one of the voice
actresses from K Pop Hunter. Maybe we just needed to
hang around a little bit longer, but a little bit
of disappointment there. Come on, guys, let's get get with
the K pop demon Hunter.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Yeah.
