Speaker 1 (00:11):
This is the Hub on Hollywood and iHeartRadio podcast. I'm
your co host James Rojas.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
I'm the other co host, Jamie Blanco.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
On this week's episode, we look at our most anticipated
films of twenty twenty five, the classic Vampire remake, No Sperants,
Who takes a big bite of the box office, and
a non spoiler review Mister Beasts new game show getting
monster ratings? But is it good? We'll find out that
much more. But first, Jamie, Happy New Year.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Happy New Year, Happy New Year, Happy twenty twenty five
to you, sir, and to all of the people out
there in the world.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Are millions of follows in.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Subscriber absolutely the thousands watching in the audience right now.
Can we here some flus care, some tis see you?
Speaker 2 (00:54):
We see you over there.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
And this is a great space that we're in right now.
We're in like the performance studio of the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah hard Duncan Studio. Oh that's right, don't mess that up.
Don't forget that. We're not sponsored by Duncan, but I
Heart you know they have a great partnership and we
are and iHeart Radio Station. Any New Year's resolutions and
goals for the year.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
I've been asked to this and I severely disappoint people.
I think my survival and have some fun. Actually, okay, fine,
I've got one that I just made up right here
on the spot. All right, draw more, more creativity, do
more creative things. Get it, get you know, get the
creative juices flow in and out and do cool stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
And you've already started this, yes.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
So I have started in the new year a drawing series.
One of the things we're going to be talking about
is what we are looking forward to watching the most
in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
One of those things for me is one Piece Season two.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
So for every week leading up until season two, I
am drawing a new character. And it's a time lapse drawing.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
It's really good.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
You guys should go check it out on our social
media's on the instagrams, the tiktoks, the YouTube, and that's.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Just at houb on Hollywood.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
And it's just a little a little snippet of what
we offer here on the Hub on Hollywood and part
of my resolution, what about you, Sarah?
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Really quick? When is season two start?
Speaker 3 (02:20):
They have not released a date, but as of right now,
it's looking like October ish November.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
That's a lot of weeks. I know, it's a lot
of weeks.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Fortunately, One Piece has literally thousands of characters and I
can't even I can't even pick the ones that I
want to draw in that short amount of time because
that is how expansive and crazy the One Piece universe
is crazy.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah, not to guess, not to get sidetracked, but I've
been seeing, you know, stuff on because because we share
a YouTube page, so I've been seeing like videos of
like clips of one peers and stuff. Is One Piece
like sexual in nature? Is it was etchy because there
are some characters that love very volumptuous.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Yeah, well look it's it's for boys.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
It's a show that is made for boys in Japan,
and it's not my favorite thing about the show. But yes,
the women are the women are voluptuous in this show,
especially post time skip, things grew and are a little
bit more in your face.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
But the character literally really really good. It's called etchy Etchy.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
It's just a.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Little bit on the pervert side, on the pervert side.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
But not too much because it is a kid's show, gotcha.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
So Okay, I was watching some of these thumbnails and
clips I'm like, what is Jamie watching over here? I
don't judge, no comment, but we might have been looking.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
At the gin like the fan made of the fan made.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Maybe maybe you.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Don't don't look at the fan made Stu.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
I will stay clear. I will sail clear of those.
But for resolution wise, for myself, I will hope that
we cross another milestone for the Hub on Hollywood podcast,
maybe reaching four hundred subscribers. We broke three hundred at
the end of last year. We were around just shy
a three twenty right now, so we're seeing incremental you know, climbing.
(04:18):
So thanks so much for those of us, for those
of you who are watching listening to us, not only
watching on YouTube, but also listening anywhere you get your podcasts.
So iHeartRadio, Apple podcasts, Spotify, anywhere and everywhere you listen
to podcasts. We are there. So that'd be a cool
milestone to also reach. Personally, I think also, you know,
saying professionally, as you know, I'm a reporter, so I
(04:40):
want to create more contents, you know, quote unquote content,
but no more news reports and kind of kind of
play with video more and more. And so yeah, that's
one goal for this year, so wonderful.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
And you're you're an artist as well, you're a photographer.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yeah, photography, A big fan of it, So try to
get that camera out more and more often.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
That's right. And you have a website, yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
James Rojasnews dot com. You can see some of my photos.
All of all those photos on that website are film photos.
So if you aren't interested, I have sold I think
two over the past couple of years, and so if
you're interested, reach out and we can work out at
price point.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Intrepid reporter James Rojas, We're gonna be kicking ass this
year on the Hub on Hollywood.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Kicking ass. Well, you know who else is gonna be
kicking ass this year? Sidney Sweeney, because I understand that
she is in this working on a new movie and
has local ties to Boston.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yes, we are very excited for this project. Based on
a book from the Boston author FREEDA McFadden, The Housemaid,
This was a New York Times bestseller and The Housemaid,
starring Sydney Sweeney and a number of other great actors,
(05:54):
is now slated for release later this year in twenty
twenty five. Christmas of this year, twenty twenty five to
be exact. So this story, which like I said, was
a New York Times bestseller, is about a maid right
a house in a house, who sees things that she's
(06:16):
not supposed to see.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
I think that's most maids or most Yeah, like they
see a lot of things that, right, we're not supposed
to see, and.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
So it's like a psychological thriller kind of horror. So
we're really excited about that one. Miss McFadden still lives
here in Boston. She's got one of those historic like
triple deckers on the water, so that's that's really cool,
and we're going to be reaching out to her, trying
(06:46):
to get her here on the hob on Hollywood to
talk about this super exciting project. But we are yeah, yeah,
looking forward to that and hoping that some of the filming,
if it hasn't already been complete completed, might get done
here in Boston, where we have tons of great movies
that are made and shot and filmed in television as well.
(07:09):
So here's looking for a very rope looking forward to
a very robust spring as well for filmmaking in New England.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
And speaking about robust, Sidney Sweeney, what is your favorite
Sweeney movie this year. I know mine I liked was
any anyone but you? And you said yours?
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Madame Web Oh god, I appreciated her and Madame not really,
but no anything Euphoria where she got her start and
we had the most recent season of Euphoria.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Isn Dana still in Euphoria?
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Or she used like sparingly because she's now doing a
lot of bigger stuff.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
No, she's still in Euphoria. She's still in Euphoria, Okay.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
And Sidney Sweeney, I think she just brings so much
to the screen, and not just what they would draw
in one piece. She is a emotive actor, Like she
just draws you in and her eyes are just so amazing,
and the way that she can express herself and really
deal with difficult topics and things like that. Like, I
(08:13):
think she's so so talented and I can't wait to
see more of what she does in the future. So, yeah,
this is one of the things we're looking forward to.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Yeah. My fun fact about Sidney Sweeney that I love
is that in making Madam Webb, or agreeing to make
Madame Web, I guess she not only got a lot
of money for that role, but also was able to
inc a deal with Sony, so they were able to
fund and have her be like a co producer for
Anyone but You. And so because of Madam Webb and
(08:47):
being in that terrible movie, she was able to leverage
that to get her own movie which she wanted to make,
Anyone but You, which with so good. Yeah, very business savvy.
So kudos for Sidney Sweeney looking forward to that, and
kudos to local Boston author Freedom McFadden for you know,
the big opportunity to get a book every every author's
(09:08):
dream have their book turned into a movie starring Sidney Sweeney.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Exactly specifically specifically, that's I mean, that's what's gonna happen
for us in the future. I'm writing a book. Yeah
that will one day it'll make it to the big screen.
I know it will, putting it down to the universe
right now.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
If not the book, our podcast story, this story of
a podcast, the movie into a movie. Excellent. Well, let's see, Well,
so that's being filmed in twenty twenty five. Let's talk
about movies that have already been complete and are slated
to be released. And so we're looking at our movies
(09:45):
that we're looking forward to the most this year, and
I have a I was going through the list of
you know on IMDb of what's coming out, and I
was surprised with how many movies I'm looking forward to.
And if you want, I can start kick you off,
go ahead number one. And most of these are in order,
but the one I will go out of order for
is Superman. James Gunn taking over the d C EU
(10:08):
d CU and and creating his own his own universe
and and his own interpretation of these characters. And the
man who's playing Superman, I'm blanking, but he was in Twisters.
He plays one of the one of h uh stormapers, Yeah,
one of one of the sort one of the one
of the corporate storm chasers. And it's funny because in
(10:29):
one of the scenes you have Anthony Ramos. It was
like it was a blooper and is Anthony Ramos and
the guy Brandon something plays Superman and they're in the
car and then all of a sudden, like Brandon starts
like yelling, jokingly yelling at Anthony Ramos's character, and then
Anthony was like getting yelled at by Superman over here
because through that filming they found out that he casts that,
so that was fun. But this one looks so good. Basically,
(10:52):
the simple synopsis, the titular superhero reconciles his heritage with
his human upbringing. Superman is the embodiment of truth, justice,
and the human way. In a world that views this
as old fashioned, it just looks great. And from what
I'm hearing initial viewings of it, or you know, testings
of this film, people are comparing it to another James
(11:13):
Gunn film, The Guardians of the Galaxy. So if this
movie is nearly as good as Guardians of the Galaxy,
then we're in really really good hands.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Is it Guardians of the Galaxy one, Guardians of the
Galaxy two? Or three?
Speaker 2 (11:25):
Because this is a big difference.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
I think they just say Guardians of the Galaxy one,
complying number one. But I'm a fan of two and three.
I think they all hold up very well. They they
I think one is probably my favorite. But they each
have their thing that they're a really good standalone film,
and they each have their own thing that you can
you know, relate to, attached to, or you know, reason
(11:48):
to say it's your favorite.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Okay, now you said truth.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
What is it with justice and the human way?
Speaker 3 (11:54):
The human way that used to be the American way. Yes,
when did that change happen?
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Well, I think I think that must have changed in
the comics, maybe because I remember this is being a
topic of political discussion, maybe like ten years ten years
ago or so. Yeah, a little late, but no, no,
But like you know, again, a lot of people, you know,
have that Christopher Reeves slogan, you know, truth, justice in
the American way. And but you know, as time passes,
you know, and the world is more than just America.
(12:22):
You know, we don't encompass everything. And so for somebody
an alien who is there to protect the entire world
kind of makes sense that, you know, you want to
represent all humans as opposed to just like the forty
eight and the and the two and Alaska.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Who really anything outside of America?
Speaker 2 (12:40):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Apparently there there is, do you know do you know
the singer and we're going off on a tangent, but
didn't do you know the singer Robbie Williams. Yeah, I
had no idea who he was. You know, he has
a new movie coming out, The biopeg where he's represented
by a chimpanzee.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
So on Reddit, people are talking about it. Apparently. I
guess he is known in America but not that well
known in Europe, in Asia and Africa. He's really a
really hot thing, but he didn't he hasn't really made
that mark so much so in America. So a lot
of people, you know, a lot of Americans saying, who
the heck is this guy? I was one of those people, like,
(13:16):
who is Robbie Williams? I thought that was like the
character's name, the monkey's name in the trailer and so,
and then I googled it, like, oh, he's a part
of this big he was part of this boy band
that went solo and then has had his ups and
downs and success and you know, failures. But I never
never heard of him, and many Americans also apparently have
never heard of him either until this movie.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Yeah, welcome Robbie Williams to America.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
Robbie Williams.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
But that one looks really cool too.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
I'm on the fence on that one. That's not my
list of most anticipated films of twenty twenty.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Interesting, it looks interesting.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
Different. My wife has opinions on this. She's like, like,
because some of the reviews are like, it's very they
take so many risks. It's risk taking movie, risk taking filmmaking. Yeah,
and my wife like, what's the risk like looking like
a monkey, being a CGI monkey? Like, what's what's that's
not a big risk in twenty twenty five?
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Yeah, I guess. I guess. I just like things that
are different.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
No, we see so many get done over and over
and over again, so I'd say that's something I want
to check out.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
The regions are looking good. We're saying that they went
in not expecting much or not knowing who Robbie Williams
is or was, and pleasantly surprised. So it is getting
good reviews.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
All right, Well there's that, and then there's this. If
you're looking for a super romantic movie to go see
this year on Valentine's Day, there's nothing more romantic than
Harrison Ford is a giant red Hulk. So Captain America
Brave New World slated for a Valentine's Day release.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Hearts are read. Harrison's read movie makes sense?
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Oh, what is it? Violets are red, so is the Hulk.
Let's go it's funny.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
The Hulk is red, violets are blue. Let's all go
down to the a mc and watch you watch the movie.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
With you something like that, something like we're poets here,
among other things.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
I'm not sure, but I mean again, I'm in that
stage where something has to really excite me for Marvel
to get me, you know, excited for a film I
am look forward to. On my list is the Fantastic
four movie. But this one isn't really doing it for me.
Thunderbolts isn't really doing it for me. Like I'm not
like that. That's not on my list this year. I
(15:41):
don't know why. I just hit that fatigue. Pedro Pascal, however,
and and what's his name? Uh not Joaquin the guy
who plays the human Torch. He was in Stranger Things
something Smith, Joseph Smith. Okay, I believe Joseph Quinn. Joseph Quinn,
(16:04):
Joseph Quinn, Pedro Pascal, They're in the Fantastic four movie.
So I'm leing forward to that, but you're looking forward.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
To I am a fan of Anthony Mackie's uh Captain America.
I am, And as everyone knows, Harrison Ford is my
secret imaginary elderly boyfriend. I've been in love with him
since I'm I was nine years old of course, of course,
(16:31):
who isn't, so I.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Want to give it a chance.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
I and it looks I really liked the trailers. I
really liked the previews and the editing on that, the
and what they did with the lettering and stuff like that.
I'm hoping that maybe they've done something new creative with
the editing.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
I'm hoping there's a solid storyline.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
There's not much, you know, hulks beating each other and
stuff like that, and and ship blowing up and things
like that, you know, the standard fare. I'm not going
into it expecting anything like super deep or transformative.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
But I got to be there for my man. I
got to be there for Harrison, right, He's counting on me.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
And I'm hoping to get a decent movie out of it.
I'm hoping to get something, you know, worthwhile. Like I said,
really like Anthony Mackie, I have I have hope, Yeah, hope.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Well, they say again, the only reason why I think
this could be a very good movie is that Marvel
or the MCU, they're really they really need to pivot
because they've hit this this slog period of people not
being excited for their films, and so they need something
to kind of reset after the whole like the what's
(17:45):
his name? The the guy from a man who not
Doctor Doom, the other character King after the Jonathan Major's
thing and the King universe getting like destroyed, and now
you're throwing back in Robert Downey Junior. Chris Evans is
coming back. Yeah, this is there, Like, Okay, we have
to get things on track. We need to put you know,
(18:07):
our our top scientists on this to make sure that
that people are interested in this, like leads a path
or makes a new pathway for the MCU.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Yeah, and letting go of Chris Evans to begin with.
And iron Man.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Dardyj.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Does it hurt? I mean not hurt, but like doesn't
And they're going to bring him back. About that, they're
bringing them back.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
As a different character.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Yeah, so I think Chris Evans will probably play like
a Captain America variants. I know there's one, I forget
what character comic book character it is, but basically like
he's a rogue Captain America or like a solitude Captain
America who like turned his back against the effort to
YadA YadA, YadA. So there are rumors that he may
be coming back as that variance again, the whole variant
(18:52):
thing and multiverses kind of wearing thin.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Well they've made sure that they can create any kind
of story like into perpetuity. Yeah, but how good it
will be remains to be seen.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
What else remains to be seen.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
That's good, that's good, and what is destined for greatness?
And I will accept nothing less. Is Paddington in Peru
Paddington's three, he returns to Peru to visit his beloved
aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired
Bears with the Brown family in tow. The thrilling adventure
ensues when a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey. Jamie,
(19:30):
I'm going forward to this movie a lot right now.
We just introduced my daughter, who's over a year and
a half to Paddington. So not the movies, but we
start with the books. My daughter loves books, and so
we've cracked open the first Paddington book, new illustration and stuff,
and so we're reading with her. She loves it. And
so the thing is, I tried went to a bookstore
(19:53):
and I got and they had the Paddington doll, like
the Paddington Teddy bear with the code and haat and everything.
I was like, oh my goodness, this is great. Maya
look is Paddington. She's like, huh, Like did not gravitate
towards it at all. Of course I was crushed, but
I didn't let her see that. I didn't want her
to know that Daddy was hurt. But I was like,
you know, we'll get to it eventually. My wife, however,
she got, ended up getting the book, and now my
(20:17):
daughter loves it, loves reading it and loves looking at it,
and we're gonna introduce like the series of it, and
so eventually one day we will have a marathon, a
movie marathon watching Paddington one, two, and three. But if
Paddington is half as good part three, half as good
as Part two, then I think it'll be a great trilogy.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
To rest on that you are very passionate about Paddington.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Yes, as anyone who watches this this podcast knows. So
that's sweet, that's that's wonderful. I did see the trailer
for that and it looks really really good.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
So the mom, again I'm blaming on her name. I
need a list of names, but the mom who plays
the character, the actress who plays a mom in both
one and two. She's not a return. They recast her
because they filmed in like Peru or South America, and
they and at the time she became sick and couldn't
physically travel, and so I was hoping maybe they could
(21:11):
have delayed the film or done something because I really
love that actress. Unfortunately, she cannot make it, so they
recast her. I'm hoping that, you know, that's not too
much of a distraction because my wife also loves that
actress and her character in parts one and two, So
that's the only downside to this one. But I'm sure again,
as long as the heart is there, the fun is there,
(21:32):
I think it's gonna be a good, good time.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
I think I'm also hoping that the heart and the
fun is in this next movie that is also slated
for release in twenty twenty five. Just wrapped up filming
not too long ago. Happy Gilmour too.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
I don't have high hopes for this. Oh, come on,
because how can it be good?
Speaker 2 (21:52):
How could it be good?
Speaker 3 (21:53):
He says, Well, the original is a classic. The original
is a classic for sure. And you know, Adam Sandler,
he's back. He is the same character, so he's hit
or miss. I know, right, Adam Sandler movies in the
last decade.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
Or so or yeh have been hit or miss. But
I love Happy Gilmore so much.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Yeah it's great, right.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
It came out originally in nineteen ninety six. It's a
long time to wait for It's almost thirty years right later.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Crazy.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
I don't know how they could possibly top it, but
I'm hoping they can match it. This was filmed in
Rhode Island here in New England.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
And what I love about Adam Sandler movies not just
you know, his brand of comedy.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
Yeah right, but he always films in New England.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
He's a New England boys from New Hampshire and he
always has like hundreds of background like this man puts
people to work. He employs people for these movies. They
pay really well. Like he cares about the people that
he puts in his movies, so like behind the scenes
in the creation of these films, like stand up guy.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Love it, love to see it.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
I would love to see him do a sequel for
every movie he's ever done, as long as it brings
jobs to.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Hear it to New England.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
As far as if there are good movies to watch
you know, I have hope again, I sound like Princess
Leah with the hoope, hope, hope, but I want to
be entertained by this one.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
I know you're like, yeah, you're like.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
No, imagine being good at all. Somebody was joking like
he couldn't even shave his beard for this film, Like
he just strolls out of his trailer or whatever, like
walks up in his jersey and basketball shorts, just like
the cat that's the character. Yes, without the beard, but yeah,
I can't imagine this being good. I'll wait for the reviews.
(23:52):
If it's streaming, maybe I'll put it on if I'm
washing dishes or something. But that's I feel like, this
is like there's some movies that that's how I judge, Like,
can I watched this movie while doing the dishes? Yeah?
If so, then they put it on the on the
ledge over there with the windowsill and and do washing dishes.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Bringing back Shooter McGavin's yeah, bringing back the originals, and.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
You have to except Carl Weathers. Carl Weathers away of course,
so they'll have to obviously, uh, you know, pay tribute
to him somehow, but he passed.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
Away in the movie too, yeah, but in his characters.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
Yeah, but he was there was a dream, there was
a heaven sequence.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Wasn't that he comes back?
Speaker 1 (24:28):
He could have done that, but no. But so they'll
pay tribute to him somehow. There'll be there'll be a
missing hand joke or something. Yeah, happy you will like
go through like a chest or something. But he's down.
He's like, I can't do it. I can't can't golf anymore.
And then he's gonna open a chest and the handle
pop house saying yes you can. Yeah, Okay, that's the
(24:50):
joke that I'm expecting a higher quality movie that I'm
expecting and hoping for. I'm a fan of horror, you know.
I'm a of the classic Hollywood horror monsters, the Universal Monsters.
So the Leewan Noll who directed uh, The Invisible Man
several years ago, I think maybe five years ago. Now
(25:12):
he's kind of going into the monster verse for Universal
and bringing these characters back, and he's also bringing back
the Wolfman. Oh, this one is called a wolf Man.
It's about a family at a remote farmhouse attacked by
an unseen animal. But as the night stretches on, the
father begins to transform into something unrecognizable. This looks great.
(25:33):
I'm always up for a wolf movie, a wolf Man
movie again, the universal classic horror monsters. I'm happy that
they're making a return. I think there are like two
Frankenstein movies that are coming out. Kermodel Toro is doing
one and there's another one. Did you see were you
a fan of the show the two twins who are
like the sweet Life of Zach and Cody or Zach
(25:56):
and Bill.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Or whatever, But didn't you know how I know you're
talking about.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
So one of those guys, one of the brothers, he
was in a Frankenstein movie last year, and there's like
a comedy like I think it was like a period
eighties or nineties version of it, but but it got
good reviews, like a funny movie. I'm not sure if
you had seen it, but Frankenstein really hot right now.
But wolf Man, Yeah, hoping that's gonna be a good
one because it looks really, really interesting. A lot of
(26:20):
really good acting in that too.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
So how do you feel about Mission Impossible?
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Part ten?
Speaker 1 (26:28):
I'm back on baby. I'll ride the Sunrise Sunset with
mister Cruise any day. The Final recond, the Final Reckoning.
This is on my list coming out May twenty third. Yeah,
this was supposed to be the part two to the
Last Reckoning movie, but then like you.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
Know, First Reckoning.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
The final one. Yeah, there was supposed to be a
part two, but now they're they've labeled this as like
the new like just its own standalone film, also following
the events of the last one, of course, but the wordings,
you know, it is awesome antics, but just want I'm
looking forward to the last one was good, maybe not
the best mission impossible movie in the franchise, but it
(27:11):
was entertaining. It had a lot of good stunts. One
thing I hope they don't do for this film, however,
is like the last film where they kept publicizing Tom
Cruise rides a motorcycle off a cliff. Here he is
going off the cliff, and the trailer here are twenty
hours of behind the scenes shots of him practicing and
(27:33):
cruising and jumping and doing it again and again and again.
Like they overkilled and over publicized that jump that when
it did happen in the movie, it was done in
thirty seconds, and I was like, okay, I had seen this,
and so what was supposed to be one of the
biggest moments of the movie. They took out all the energy.
They sucked out all the air from that. So I
(27:55):
hope they don't do that with this film, which whatever
the big stunt's going to.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
Be, I don't know. But it was good marketing. It
drove a lot of people.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
In, but they didn't make as much money as they
hoped for, so maybe they pulled back a little bit.
So that's why they did the whole like part two,
nixing the part two idea because you know, it didn't
make as much money as they were hoping for. I
know they were impacted by COVID that had to do
a lot of reshoots. It costs a whole bunch more
because of filming during the pandemic, you know, extra safety measures,
(28:25):
measures and whatnot, and so a lot of things going
against it, which ballooned at the budget, which didn't help
it when they were trying to make that money back.
But yeah, but I think just pull back. We know
Tom Cruise is gonna go nuts, just like, just save
it for the movie was what I look for.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
Okay, yeah, maybe more more like guess what Tom Cruise
did this time?
Speaker 2 (28:44):
You got to watch the movie to find out.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Thought A gorilla and won the most dangerous.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
I know, yeah, that's how was he still alive? I
don't know, but you know what, who is still alive
and is repeatedly coming back to life Robert Pattinson in
the new movie Mickey seventeen. Mickey seventeen is about an
expendable worker who goes on a dangerous journey to colonize
in the Ice planet. This is based off a novel
(29:11):
which I believe is called Mickey twenty seven where a character,
you know, Robert Pattinson's character, he is working in space
and he is unexpendable, which means that once he dies.
I don't know how, I don't know what the exact
details of the contract, but when he dies, his body
gets incinerated. His dead body gets incinerated, and he comes
(29:32):
back to life as a clone. The thing is, he
doesn't really remember. He doesn't like regain his memories. However,
during I think, after like the seventeenth time or something,
he starts remembering like, oh, I'm constantly being killed and
I know I signed up for this, but maybe I
want more. Then all of a sudden, there are two
upper patentsons because there's only supposed to be one at
(29:52):
a time, but now there are two then maybe possibly
three at a time.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
So that's like, it looks cool.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
It looks really cool. I know this has been postponed
several times, but Mickey seventeen is on the list of
most we love.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
Robert Pattinson. He was here not too long ago.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
He was here shooting.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
He wasn't shooting shooting with Zendeia.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
We're just chasing him around in Boston. So excited for
for for him and all the good things that that
he does and filming that he does here in New England.
There's two more things on my list, James, and first
of one that first of one start Our Lord and Savior.
Brian Johnson one of my favorite directors, not yours, not
(30:35):
your favorite.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
He's not my favorite. I respect him for certain movies,
but not for other movies. But yes, go on, yes, I.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
Love everything that he's ever done, and I love his
brand of storytelling.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
I you know, adore him. I got to hang out
with him once. Last story for another time.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Anyways, Wake Up dead Man and Knives Out Mystery the
next iteration the correct the third iteration of.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
The Knives Out movies.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
The original filmed here in Massachusetts, super successful starring yours
truly my hands anyway, I got to be a body
double for Aidarmis and that's and my feet right, that
was a heck of the job. So yeah, hands feet,
body double driving. So the scenes where you don't kind
of see her face odds are it's me. That was
(31:26):
a really life changing experience, honestly. The second movie they
filmed it overseas, which was a little bit sad. Now
they're working on Wake Up dead Man.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
I love all of the Knives Out movies.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
I love his his he loves noir right, the noir
mystery and the way that he brings in all of
these eccentric characters. And he's always got this great cast
of a listers and people with unique talents, set of
skills and sets of skills, and it's always this just
(32:03):
really satisfying. Who done it? I'm very, very much looking
forward to this one. It doesn't have a release date yet,
but it is set for release sometime in twenty twenty five,
probably later in the year.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
Again, we have.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
Got Daniel Craig back as the sleuth Benoi Blanc, who
has found himself embroiled in another case with loads of
suspects a suspiciously high body count. Apparently some of those
who are going to be starring in this one. Glenn
close A right in for a close up on this one,
(32:40):
Kerrie Washington, Josh Brolin, Thanos himself right, Jeremy Renner, Kaylee Spainey,
Josh O'Connor, Mila Kunis, and the list goes on and
on and on. So it's always a stacked cast, always
an interesting story. And like I said, I just I
love his brand of storytelling and filmmaking. If you're looking
(33:05):
for another person, Ryan, I'm always available ring at anytime.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
We would love to be a part of it.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
I loved Knives Out the second one, glass Onion really
enjoyed the last two minutes kind of like like for
me at least, I don't want to spoil anything if
youth in case I haven't seen it, but yeah, it
just kind of like it wrapped up or ended very
quickly and in a way that left me kind of
like underwhelmed. I liked where it was going and all
of a sudden, just like it took a quick left turn,
(33:33):
like uh, you're doing You're gonna stick the landing for
me at least, and it didn't work out, but it's
still a great movie. A lot of great actors and
a lot of good stuff. Edward Norton, Edward Nortan's great,
fantastic in it, Dave Batista's great fantastic in it. A
lot of good stuff, a lot of good stuff. So
hopefully fingers crossed part three they nail it next on
(33:54):
my list. I'll just say these two movies. And you know, historically,
you know me on the home on Hollywood, not a
fan of the live action, live adapted movies from cartoons
or CGI whatever what have you. But for some reason,
I am really looking forward to How to Train Your
Dragone and Leeloan Stitch. Okay, I will admit right now,
(34:18):
and this is before we started watching the movie, but
we just introduced my daughter to Leelo and Stitch. So
now we got her a Stitch the doll, and she
she we're watching Leylan Stitch on repeat now, like we're
in that phase of parenting where we've introduced them to
a movie and they want to watch that movie, saying
over and over again. But it's a great, great, great movie.
(34:39):
Love it. It's so beautiful, great story, great acting. You know,
you know, nothing to not like about that film or
the characters. And so they recently came out with like
the look of the live action Stitch, and it looks
really good. It looks really really good, looks really fun
if they stick to like, you know, the main beats.
So the first movie, I don't see how this could
(35:00):
fail again. Usually I'm in the camp of like, the
original was perfect, and I agree the Lion King perfect,
don't it doesn't need to be remade, or Beauty in
the Beasts perfect, doesn't need to be remade Lelon Stitch perfect.
This one, however, I don't mind it being remade because
right now we're watching again. Yeah, unlike like your strategy,
(35:23):
we've introduced our daughter to the original one.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
No, yeah, you've done it the correct way down.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
The road years later, then we'll introduce the live action one.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
So as long as my daughter has the love for
the cartoon, then then okay, and then we're good to
try the other ones.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
I just really hope that these two projects will not
be a horror show the way that some of the
other live action.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
Disney adaptations or the prequel. Yeah no, I haven't seen
MUFA yet.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
Yeah no, I had no interest, but like The Jungle Book,
Like it was so terrifying. It was so scary, right,
and I ended up like traumatizing my kids to go
see the live action adaptations first Aladdin, I mean, Alat,
it wasn't that bad, but.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
I mean it's Bill Smith and Genie makeup. Yeah, Genie
will Smith could be horrifying, it could be terrifying.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
It was okay, it was okay. But here's here's hoping
that these are actually like good good. I feel like
over the last decade maybe these studios have learned a
thing or two about the live action adaptations, or maybe
not based on LASA, We'll see, we'll see.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
Yeah. Yeah. For How to Train Your Dragon, that looks
also really good again they should. They showed clips of
of what Toothless looks like. Gerard Butler, who plays the
Dad in the animated movies. He's reprising his role as
the Dad, the mic and king in this one, so
he's great in that and yeah, looking forward to this one.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
What I like about How to Train Your Dragon is
like character development. There's time progress. Yeah, yeah, Like those
are the kinds of stories that I like where you
don't just stay with a character and he stays like
a kid forever.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
It's like, no, you get to see this and grow up.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Into it from a boy hiccup to a man.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
Right right, right right, miss and how the world changes
around them and how they evolve as a person, and like, yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Like that, So that's good.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
So fingers crossed. These look good. My last two that
I'll throw in here unless you have any more, I have.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
One more go ahead.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Since we're talking about live action adaptations. The number one
thing that I am looking forward to next year. It
is not a movie, but it is season two of
the Live action One Piece on Netflix.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Season one characters.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
With our voluptions, but look, you know what, at least
they're not going in that trajectory. That's much more respectful.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
So far. In the live action adaptation, I think that
there were a lot of positive changes from the anime
to the live action that make it more digestible, more fun.
I just I love it, love it, love it, love it.
And it was so fun and engaging. It's not just
the st and.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
It's not just the stunts and the fighting and the action.
Is how gorgeous the cinematography is.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
Every single frame of the Live action One Piece is
a work of art. From from the set dressing in
the background to the costumes and the framing and the lighting,
just every single thing. I could just watch it a
million times over, not even for the story, just for
how beautiful it is. And I'm really really hoping that
(38:28):
we get that again in season two.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
But also because.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
I love the characters, and I love the actors in
the way that they portray these these these characters and
the story that ahido Oda has created and the world
that is so expansive and incredible. I cannot wait to
see how they have put this together in season two.
(38:54):
The live action got me into the anime. The anime
eleven hundred plus episode and still going many right, but
the way that a lot of people think it's it's daunting.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
It is. And I've been watching the anime trying to
catch up for like.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Do you start in the middle three months? Do you
start in the beginning?
Speaker 2 (39:13):
I started in the beginning.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
Well, look, I watched the live action one piece and
that's season one, So I skipped like the first season
of the anime because I'm like, I know what happens, right,
And I started with season two and I've been watching
it for like two three months now. And I'm on
episode seven hundred and there's still like four hundred plus
to go, and it's sometimes it's daunting, it's a little
(39:36):
hard to get through it.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
Sometimes there's a lot of filler.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
My brain for a second. So you're on episode seven,
one hundred and season two. What what number did that
start with?
Speaker 2 (39:47):
I don't remember.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
It's like forty or fifty or sixty around.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
Are you telling me you've watched six hundred and fifty episodes?
Speaker 2 (39:52):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (39:52):
How long are these episodes?
Speaker 2 (39:53):
They're like twenty minutes.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
How I need your time.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Stops time, I imagine, No, I have an overnight job this.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
Yeah, no, I want this. I want this scenario to
play on it and let me know if this has happened.
But like you're watching the anime right You're at home
watching and a voluptuous character walks in, and then your
husband walks in, and you're like, it's for the story.
I'm watching for the story.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
It's not that I'm kidding.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
I am.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
I'm kidding, at least not.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
Until after the time.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
But it's it's so good and the storylines and everything
to do with Lufy and his friends in the world
and all of these characters which is why I'm currently
doing my drawing series, which is why you should go
right now to all of our social media's at hub
On Hollywood check out our drawing series and we'll be
doing one a week. As I said before, Piece, one
piece a week until One Piece Season two comes out
(40:50):
sometime at the.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
End of this year.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
Postpone a year, I'll cry for you.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
Well it's not, it's not. Don't say that.
Speaker 1 (40:59):
Why would you say that too? Sorry, sorry, sar.
Speaker 2 (41:02):
Okay, Well but they're done filming. They just finished filming,
and yeah, so it's it should be coming up this.
Speaker 1 (41:07):
Year, all right. Well, what I hope will not get
postponed either. Are these last movies I'm looking forward to
coming out in June twenty eight years later, the third
film in the Years X Later franchise of the Zombies.
There's like twenty eight days later, twenty eight weeks later.
Now we're up to twenty eight years later.
Speaker 3 (41:26):
Happened a month, h you know, they accumulate two years.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
And so Killian Murphy. He's back for his role. So
people saw like a very emiciated, emiciated, se se emaciated
zombie I speak for a living zombie, and they thought,
is that Killian Murphy. He's like, no, it's not Killian Murphy.
(41:53):
This is a zombie that kind of resembles him. But
Killian has those deep cheekbones. So some people were theorizing,
but no, he is not a zombie in this movie
as far as I understand. And lastly, based off of
the Predator franchise or continuing the Predator franchise Predator bad Lands,
I believe it was last year they came out with
one that took place and during the eighteen hundreds where
(42:15):
a Native American tribe was battling Predator. Yeah, so they're
kind of following. They're kind of following that kind of
like new era or different not present day, but like
different period in time versus the Predator, which I think
is a great idea.
Speaker 2 (42:27):
Cool.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
Yeah, Nope, no real plot for this, but it looks
really good. So I'm excited for this year.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
Awesome twenty five right me too?
Speaker 1 (42:39):

That's right. Subscribe, subscribe, subscribe.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
Subscribe, subscribe, subscribe, all right, you know it's being about subscribing.
And on YouTube, one of the most subscribed YouTubers in
the world, in the world, the world, senorsta, mister Beastiality himself.
Speaker 2 (43:23):
Name no nice.
Speaker 1 (43:25):
Sorry, sorry, I'm sorry, I'm feeling I'm feeling rebellious right now,
beast mister.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
Beast out with his epic game show on Prime Video,
biggest game show prize of all time, supposedly, number of
contestants also right right, No, one thousand contestants, many Netflix
throwing like what one hundred million dollars project, huge investment
(43:54):
for the biggest YouTuber in the world, out on Netflix,
out on Prime Video now. Episode four just came out
this week and they're doing a weekly release of each
of these episodes. But the big question is, James, is
all of the bang worth your buck?
Speaker 2 (44:11):
Is there a buck for the bang?
Speaker 3 (44:14):
What?
Speaker 2 (44:14):
Is it good?
Speaker 1 (44:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (44:15):
Right?
Speaker 1 (44:16):
Is it good? Is it good?
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Is it listen?
Speaker 1 (44:21):
And let's preface this saying, yeah, you are a big
fan of mister Beats.
Speaker 2 (44:25):
I am.
Speaker 3 (44:25):
Okay, yes, let's preface it this way, mister Beast, Jimmy Donaldson,
congratulations on your engagement. By the way, he just got
engaged to Taa Thompson. I'm invested in mister Beast. Okay,
I love the guy. I think I'm a fan of
the YouTube channel from several years back. I started watching,
like in twenty twenty. I think he does a lot
(44:48):
of good work. He does a lot of good philanthropy.
Speaker 2 (44:51):
I think the videos are entertaining.
Speaker 3 (44:52):
I love Carl Jacobs and the whole cast of characters
that he's got with him right doing these.
Speaker 2 (45:00):
All of that is to say that I really love
mister Beast. However, the game.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
Show itself has a little bit there's a little I
want a little bit more. And it's not that it's
not big, and it's not that it's not impressive and
that they don't have helicopters and islands and big prizes.
Speaker 2 (45:22):
But what bothers me.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
A little bit, James, is the games themselves that are
in the game show repetitive, not a lot of fun.
There's there a lot of self elimination challenges.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
It's like it's like there's only so much of that
that you can handle because it's like it's so.
Speaker 3 (45:44):
Yeah, you know, like it hurts the soul a little
bit to see people like agonizing over it and am
I going to eliminate myself?
Speaker 2 (45:52):
And you need to eliminate yourself?
Speaker 3 (45:54):
And you know, like those self eliminations take a lot
of emotional energy out of you.
Speaker 1 (45:59):
And it's like, so, what's an example I would say
of one competition, okay that either like maybe one that
landed and worked for you and one that did not
land or worked for you.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
So Hide and Seek landed for me.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
Where they go to this island and the people are
competing to win this island. Right, you win the island
and they're being chased by Navy seals and they have
to hide on this island from the Navy seals. Like
that is something that has always been successful for him
in his YouTube videos, and it works in this game show,
(46:35):
but earlier, in earlier episodes, there's like we're in these
towers and one one challenges a self elimination, and then
the next challenges you have to catch a ball, and
the first person to drop a ball we all lose.
And then that one was really short and because they
dropped the first ball and they're like, well, that didn't work,
so now we're just going to go back to another
(46:56):
self elimination. It's like it didn't feel well planned and
it didn't feel like you could get invested in any
of the people that were in the competition, right, And
this is famously kind of.
Speaker 2 (47:09):
Modeled after Squid Game.
Speaker 3 (47:11):
He had a very successful YouTube video where they remade
Squid Games. And so they're back. You know, people are
wearing the costumes, they're stuck in like Beast Village. But
you know, it didn't seem like the games themselves were
very well planned or executed or had like a progression
or had like a purpose, and that I couldn't really
(47:33):
get invested in the people that were playing them because
it just seemed so arbitrary.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
And then you'd get like wide swaths of people.
Speaker 3 (47:41):
You'd get like twenty people, thirty forty people out at
a time, and you know it's just kind of hard
to follow. So I can see where they had like
big dreams for this, like starting with a thousand people,
but maybe if they brought it down a little bit
more closer to home and focused on like making a
something that you could really follow and that was more
(48:03):
entertaining versus just big and shot and flashy. You know,
I think it would have been more successful is.
Speaker 1 (48:10):
Big and flashy though, like the Beast of Life brand.
Speaker 2 (48:15):
I guess, I guess.
Speaker 1 (48:16):
I guess it is getting ratings are people are tuning in,
so that's like that's a win for them. And even
if people don't like the show, people are tuning in
to watch it. It doesn't matter if they like it
or not. The numbers are there.
Speaker 3 (48:28):
The numbers are there because it was the most watched
program like in like a dozen countries. So I mean
it's really successful. But I kind of missed I missed
the heart and soul of old mister Beast when it
was just him and his friends being stupid and having
fun and doing quirky things, and you know, it was
(48:49):
about their interaction, right, I'm kind of missing like the
kind of the heart of it and the friendship part
of it and the what's the whole point?
Speaker 2 (48:57):
The whole point is to like give back and.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
Have the money to give back to philanthropies and stuff
like that, and to show the best of humanity, right,
And I feel like with this show.
Speaker 2 (49:10):
It's kind of showcasing the opposite, and it's kind of.
Speaker 3 (49:12):
Showcasing the worst of humanity because it's a reality show.
Speaker 2 (49:16):
It's a reality show, it's a game show.
Speaker 3 (49:18):
That's like the formula for success is like you show
these people being terrible to each other and so and
so took the money and and screwed everyone else, and
you know, I get it.
Speaker 2 (49:29):
It's entertainment value, but it's also like not, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (49:34):
Yeah, yeah, And plus there's also the controversy of you know,
their lawsuits. They're countless people who are on the show
saying that they were mistreated, the conditions like where they
where they were kept, wasn't enough to part. Women weren't
getting you know, feminine products that they requested or needed,
big medication, their medication. You know, things were abusive. There's
(49:58):
some like some sexual harassment POSSI to believe. Like, so
there's a lot of stuff. I'm not shifting. It's out
right now. I'm not personally the biggest Mister Beasts fan
or crew in general, and so this one was like
a no brainer. Just like I'm not gonna I don't
watch it, I don't watch it on YouTube. I'm not
gonna watch it on Amazon Prime. I'm not surprised by
the allegations. I'm not surprised by some of the mixed
reviews to the show itself.
Speaker 3 (50:19):
So I think it was just it was too big
and he didn't have enough experience in managing that many
people and pulling off a production of that size successfully.
Speaker 1 (50:29):
Wait for season two.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
Maybe there will be lessons learned.
Speaker 3 (50:33):
There's always an after action report. You know, I want
to believe in mister Beast. And it's not only because
I want to be in season two, but you know,
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
I just I want to believe in people, James. I
want to believe that there's you know.
Speaker 3 (50:51):
I just I want to Okay, so leave me alone.
Speaker 1 (50:54):
There without so much smoke all I'm saying. But yeah,
I know, but yeah, I know. He does a lot
of film, Thempic, philanthropic stuff.
Speaker 2 (51:02):
He talks for a living.
Speaker 1 (51:03):
He talks for a living. I'm getting off a cold,
so that's my excuse right now. But yeah, so you know,
you know, you know, no, it's perfect. I suppose that's
a lot of that's.
Speaker 3 (51:11):
The best, Okay, lesson you can take, Adam, It's all right.
Speaker 2 (51:14):
Yeah, we'll still be Friends.
Speaker 1 (51:16):
Okay, well, well, I take it you will continue to
watch the rest of the season.
Speaker 2 (51:20):
I will.
Speaker 1 (51:21):
Okay, we'll have an update. We'll have an update well
things and for the show. But wrapping up this show,
I do have a review, no sparatsu. I was hoping
to have this review out earlier, but the whole Castady Rojas,
was manned down because of a of a bug. But
here we are. This is a non spoiler review for
the new film by Robert Aggers, who has this growing
(51:45):
cult like fan base that I am officially a part of.
Because this movie one of the best films of twenty
twenty four, snuck in at the very very end because
it came out on Christmas Day. So all right, I
absolutely love this film and it's getting a lot of
great buzz. All the actors are beginning a lot of
high praise as well as one including one that I
(52:08):
had low expectations for. So basically notes Faratu is a
Gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and
the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in
its wake. This stars Lily Rose Depp, Nicholas Holt, Bill
Scarsguard Willem Dafoe and Aaron Taylor Johnson. Jamie, I am
(52:32):
not joking. When I left the movie theater, walking to
my car, driving back home. After getting back home and
trying to explain this film to my wife, I was
My body was physically tense. This is an intense film
that is gripping from the moment it starts to the
moment it ends, and it feels like at parts like
(52:53):
a fever dream because that's what actually happens to the
characters where they're being controlled by this demonic creature known
as Nosferatu or mister Count Orlock. This takes place in
the eighteen hundreds in Germany. We are introduced to the
characters Alan Hudd, who wakes up it from a nightmare
(53:13):
haunted by this unknown entity. Her husband, Thomas Hudder played
by Nicholas Holt, works in real estate, so he's told
to go from this town in Germany to Trent, Sylvania
and to seal this real estate deal with a doctor
or with the Count Orlock, and that's when the series
of events of horror begin and the standout of this film,
(53:35):
and there are many standouts in this film, but the
one that I was most surprised by her work was
Lily Rose Depp. You may know her. She is the
daughter of Johnny Depp, and so I'm not even joking.
Before going to go see this movie, I was talking
to my wife giving her the rundown of what the
film was about, and I told her, the only thing
that I'm not looking forward to or that I'm concerned
(53:59):
about is lil Rose Depp. She's like the main actress.
I'm not a big fan of NEPO babies. Yeah, there
are NEPO babies who are very good actors, and they've
earned their place in Hollywood, but I'm not a big
I'm not aware of Lily Rose Depp's filmography, not I
haven't seen too many things she's been in. So I
was kind of going in kind of again with this
(54:20):
kind of chip on my shoulder, expecting low expectations. I
was blown away by her performance. I came back home
and I said, I was dead wrong. I was dead
wrong about Lily Rose Depp, because not only does she
hit all the emotions, the the emotions of ecstasy, of horror,
of fear, of passion, she does not only not only
(54:45):
does she nail every one of those emotions perfectly. But
this also this movie also requires her to bring a
physical performance that I was not expecting. And you know,
there are moments in this film where her character is
possessed by the entity and is being drawn and there's
a lot of passion, and she contorts her body, she
(55:07):
shakes her body, bans her body, makes facial features that
are so unnerving and uncanny, and works so well in
that uncanny manner because again she's being controlled by this,
by this entity, that it works so frickin' well. The
cinematography is directed perfectly by Robert Aggers. The colors there's
(55:29):
a lot of gray, a lot of black, lot of white,
muted colors in this again this kind of Gothic era
of Germany, but with those shadows, with the black and white,
it looks stunning. Like this is this movie. I went
in with high expectations and I left even more impressed.
So I won't spoil anything for those who still want
(55:50):
to see this, but easily one of my most favorite
films of twenty twenty four. Are You a Vampire Chick?
Speaker 3 (55:58):
I'd love to be in a vampire movie. I like
the non sparkly vampires. Yeah, I enjoy I enjoy vampire movies.
I typically think that they're they're very passionate, right, and
and things like that. I loved your description of this
movie and now I need to go see it.
Speaker 1 (56:18):
Yeah. Absolutely, I could talk more and more about this.
We are running out of time, unfortunately, but yeah, please
if you haven't seen No s Faratu already seen in theaters. Oh,
I haven't even talked about Bill, Bill Scarsguard, who plays
you know, you may know who played it in the
IT movies and played in so many other great movies.
He is No s Faratu. He is count Orlock. He
(56:39):
is unrecognizable, his voice, his posture, the make of the prosthetics.
If you would not have told me that's Bill Scarsguard,
I would not have gas in a million years that
Will saying he transforms himself. Also, he's fantastic. Willielm. Dafoe's fantastic.
Nicholas Holt is fantastic of it. I could go on
and on, but I can't but go see No Sharatu.
(57:01):
If you have already leave a comment, leave your review
down below. Jamie. I'll love to talk more, but we
are out of were out of time.
