Speaker 1 (00:10):
This is the Hub on Hollywood and iHeartRadio podcast. I'm
your co host James Rojas.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
And I'm Jamie Blanco.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
On this week's episode, Lelo and Stitch are taking over
the box office. We have a spoiler review and a
review of how they do cinema. You know, our brothers
and sisters north of us in America's Hat. Yeah, America's Hat.
The season two finale of the Last of Us has
many of us scratching our heads, some of us in disbelief,

(00:38):
beloved and made a TV show, coming back and more buff. First, Jamie,
let's talk about something that we never I never thought
I'd be talking about. Okay, of course, of course, you
know Sidney Sweeney.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Yeah, we talk about her plenty.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
We talk about her plenty. That is on the surprise
that isn't anything new. What is new is a product
that she is promoting. And if you would have asked
me what do you think Sidney Sweeney would be selling,
you know, shelling out, I would probably guess lotion first,
maybe perfume, skin care products, product, maybe fashion, you know,

(01:17):
you know all that stuff. I wouldn't have guessed bathwater.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah, she's capitalizing on something there.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Yeah, this is this is insane. So it's called Yes,
Sidney Sweeney is coming out with body soap that is
infused with bathwater that she has.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Specifically dunked in, right, her bathwater?

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, her bathwater. That's the selling point, that's
the key part. Yeah. It's called Sidney Sweeney's Bathwater Bliss
and it's in a collaboration with with Squatch Doctor Squatch
Limited Edition. I think it's like five thousand bars, like
bars of soap infused with her actual bathwater. Apparently there
was so much demand for this that they said, you

(02:01):
know what, let's do it. Okay, were you this?

Speaker 2 (02:06):
I wasn't demanding this, But I know the internet, James,
I know what happens on the internet, and people are interesting.
Let's let's go with that. But first of all, how
do they guarantee that it's her bathwater? Like does she
go to the laboratory and take a bath in the laboratory?

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Let you ask, Okay, because they actually did this in
frame on a camera at a photoshoot, So this is
for a photoshoot for the product, and miss Sweeney said
that they had a bathtub for her. She actually got
in there, took some soap, and had a nice little
bath and they took that water, that water for the

(02:46):
photo shoot they used that, So she says, it's my
real bathwater. And this is the question, if you had
a guess, no smel Sidney Sweeney bathwater would be, what
would you guess?

Speaker 2 (03:01):
I don't want to something sweet, something fragrant, like floral.
Maybe perhaps you would.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Want that, right, Yeah, yeah, no, it smells like mourning wood,
Like that's what that's what this description says, like trees
I pray in the forest, I pray, I pray, I pray.
It smells like morning wood. So a limited edition of
body soap that you can bathe yourself and absorb the
essence of Sidney Sweeney.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
I gotta say, though I love doctor Squatch. I have
ordered that for my husband.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Like it smells really good.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
It is really good bath products.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah, bath products in general geared towards men most so
I think that's kind of where this is all coming from. Yeah,
but they're actually really really good. I need to get
some more for for my husband too. It smells really good.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
So your husband asked for this because yeah, this is
this is my my question for you and also for
our listeners and our and our viewers on YouTube and
on wherever you get your podcasts. But if you had
to buy someone's bathwater infused soap, whose would you you'd buy?

(04:14):
Harrison Ford? Yeah, so dunk Harrister Ford, eighty year old
Harrison Ford in a bathtub and.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Age is just a number.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Interesting. Interesting, Now, that's pretty quick. I didn't think about
this one. I didn't think about this.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
You have Okay, what what was your answer?

Speaker 1 (04:30):
So and so here's the catch, here's my my excuse
for this pick. But buying it does not mean you
have to use it. So my purchase would be for
a gag gift for someone else, maybe like a white
elephant or what have you. But I would pick the
bathwater infused body soap of Danny DeVito and he would

(04:50):
be down. He would be down.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
One.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
We got to start a campaign hashtag Danny DeVito bathwater
something to get that trending right now, because I think
that would be the perfect gift. You go to again,
a white elephant or someone's birthday, they open up their
gift and they have like his face on the bar,
or like you in the packaging, and Danny DeVito bathwater.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Okay, or maybe it's like a bar of soap. But
he's like, you know, rubbed his arm, pits on it hers.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
I don't know. Yeah, yeah, you somehow made my pick worse.
You somehow made it worse.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Feels more comedic, but maybe it's just not highjem it.
Never mind. No, no, I shouldn't be in charge of
these things.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
You should not be in charge of this. But you
know what, yeah, well let us know would you buy?
Uh they any celebrities? What celebrities would you go for?

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Why? Why?

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Why? Okay, well you know what. She's not selling her bathwater,
but producers are hoping that she'll sell tickets to the
next installments of the Meet the Parents franchise, and that
is Ariana Grande.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Yeah, yeah you do.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
You don't seem too excited. She's coming off a wicked
so like everybody wants her now. They're like, you know what,
she could sing in Wicked Now, we want to see
her squirm in the Parents.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Yeah, Neil, Look, I'm just not the biggest Ariana.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
You know, so you wouldn't buy her bathwater.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
I would not buy her bathwater. I know someone who would.
But no, so what's she doing? I want to be
more supportive, right.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Right right. So she's starting in the next installment of
the Meet the Parents comedy series, along with Robert De
Niro and Ben Stiller. This will be the fourth. It
sounds crazy. I completely forgot they had a third one,
which is Little Foker's. There's Meet the Parents, Ye, Meet
the Fowker's Little Fowker's, and this one will pick up
with It follows the son of Ben Stiller and Terry

(06:46):
Polo's characters as he gets engaged to a woman deemed
unsuitable by his family. So Grande will be playing the fiance,
marking her acting return after her acclaimed performance in Wicked.
Now I'm not saying that this is a bad franchise.
Is the first one is great? The second one is okay.
I didn't even know the third one existed, and I'm

(07:07):
making a fourth. Is this a big like a big
just draw. I know you're working with Ben Stelle or
Robert de Niro, but this isn't like great.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
No, it's not. But it's the cash cow thing. It's
the you know, the already existing I P that you
know has the audience recognition that they can milk more
money out of until until Robert de Niro exactly, are
continuing to milk poor Robert de Niro's ancient never mind

(07:40):
what is happening here?

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Off the tracks?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, but maybe they should put that.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Yeah, goodness, would you? Would you buy so confused with
Robert de Niro's nipple milk? Wow?

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Should we just restart this entire podcast? No?

Speaker 1 (08:00):
No, we're right, we're riding this train down into the dirt.
Yeah boom boom. Well you know what isn't going down
into the dirts? Some recent films that have that have
been coming out to the to the movie theaters. They're
they're going they're skyrocketing up into the into the atmosphere.
The Karate Kid Legends the latest Karate Kid movie, starring

(08:22):
Jackie Chan and Ralph Maccio, who still looks like forty
years old even though he's sixty years old. Looks really
probably using Sidney Sweeney's business. So no, but it had
a really decent start to the box office weekend during
its Thursday previews and made two point three million. It's

(08:43):
expected to make between twenty five and thirty million dollars
in his debut weekend. This one, I've heard mixed reviews.
I've heard it's basically just like a repeat of Yeah,
karate Kid one, karate Kid two, it's just like nothing
too crazy. If you like the beats, if you like
the hits of no pun intended of the first one,
and you're watching the same same one exactly.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
It's really exciting though to see Jackie Chan like still
at it, yeah, and still doing these things, but they're
passing it on to the next generation.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
They did that already with with will Smithson what's his name?
Jade and smith a maiden. Yeah, yeah, and so there's another. Yeah,
Jackie Chan was also in that one. So I hear
the sunts are good. I hear the main actor, the
main kid in this one. You know, he's like professionally
trained to be like a dancer and he's also a
martial artist.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Didn't he play Zuko in the live action Avatar The
Last Airbunder?

Speaker 1 (09:32):
I don't know, I believe. So we'll find that out. Yeah,
google that, but as we do do that. Yeah, Karate
Kidd Legends expected to have a decent opening weekend, However,
it will not be enough to dethrone. Leelo and Stitch
is the Disney version of Leelo and Stitch Live adaptation,
which is expected to make around sixty million dollars in

(09:55):
its second weekend, and this one it's already zoomed past
four undred million dollars in the global box office. And
guess what, Jamie what it's breaking records left and right,
left and right, up and down. It's yeah. So these
are just I think how many Ben any records? Ben Wang,

(10:15):
Ben Wong?

Speaker 2 (10:16):
And he was in Avatar the last.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Oh Ben Wong. He actually was on Corridor Crew, a
YouTube you know, VFX guys channel, and they also do
like stunt reacts and actually show some clips with like
exclusive clips of the Karate Kid legends, and so he
does a lot of the stunts and all that stuff.
So good for him. So he's very talented. The movie
against not gonna woo anybody, so you know, take that

(10:38):
as you will. However, what is wooing people is Leelo
and Stitch breaking records. And this is just a list
of the records they're breaking. So they've broken the record
for top Memorial Day opening of all time. Wow, second
biggest opening ever for any four day holiday, third biggest
opening ever for a Disney live action reimagining. They're calling

(10:59):
it a reimagining. It's huh at It live action adaptation,
the fifth biggest Monday of all time domestically, the second
best domestic opening of the year so far, and two more,
the biggest Wow Disney Live Action opening ever across Latin America,
and the seventh best opening of all time for any

(11:20):
PG title Wow Wow.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Oh my god. So we have to get into this
because you love.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
The original, love it. It's it's a class Leland Stitch.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
I saw this movie. I adored it. I love love
loved it. However, it's been getting some hate. It's been
getting some hate online, and I don't think it's warranted.
You as a big Leelo and Stitch, you know, original lover,
How did it fall with you? Did it feel well?

Speaker 1 (11:51):
I haven't seen it, but I do like the trailers.
They look really good. I think Stitch looks really good.
I think, you know, the actress who plays Leelo Maya something.
She plays lil She she's fun and everything looks good.
Excuse me. The only things that I'm I mean, I'm
what I I understand. There are a lot of changes

(12:11):
to the film, and so whether that's like a main
character missing, which has gone to and like the director
has talked about it, like gone to it's not in
the film. They've changed, like who like the main villain
is of sorts in this film, which some people are
not happy with. People are not happy with with the
aliens not cross dressing or or agent plaquely not not
getting into a drag. Yeah, and so, and there are

(12:34):
a lot of things that are that are changing, and
including some accusations of kind of whitewashing the Hawaiian experience
or the Hawaiian landscape and in regards to like highlighting
the effects of tourism of colonization. And so there's a
lot of things to dive into. But I've heard mostly
things that it's a good movie. However, there's a lot

(12:55):
of changes that diehards like with like myself may notice.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Okay, well, I would say to that, we're not going
to get into spoilers. I mean, if you've seen the
originally Low Stitch, it's essentially the same movie. They do
make some pretty big changes, however, and like what you mentioned,
I really loved it. I thought it was a really good,
uh modern update on the story and a good realistic

(13:25):
take on the story. The director was talking about how
yes we had to take Jumbo and who is the
other one and Agent plekly and make them like humans, right,
and give them a human disguise because aliens walking around
cross dressing people, you know, obviously that's not going to

(13:46):
work in a live action people are gonna notice, right.
But I thought that the actors who played them did.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
A really Hamilton I think, isn't he king like George
and Hamilton?

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Is he? Because I love him?

Speaker 1 (14:00):
Yeah, I'll check, but yeah, yeah, smile was phenomenal. I
know people were upset by that. No, I don't think
it is, but Billy Magnuson as Agent, Yes.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
So I thought it was a really good update. And
I thought that some of the choices that they made
for these characters were very were way more realistic, way
healthier than the original. Perhaps so there was more depth
to the is, in particular the character of the sister
of the older sister. So I really enjoyed it. My

(14:33):
husband and I both there were one particular part of
this movie where we were both like someone was cutting
onions in the theater and I had to like remind myself,
it's not real. It's not real. It's not real. It's just,
you know, it's just a movie. I'm not gonna like
break down right now over this movie. But it has
very emotional moments. The kids completely loved it.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
With my daughter, no, you keep doing this. I don't
know if you do this on purpose, because you know me,
I'm a big advocate for the Originals and like that.
Let people like kids watch that first and then go
with the live action. But you you're I'm a opposite.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
I'm a agent of chaos.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
You are. So they enjoyed it.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
They did. They enjoyed it very very much, and we
saw it in Canada. Actually we were up in Montreal
and it was actually a little bit of a challenge
to find a theater to go watch this with the kids. Interesting,
the theaters that were closest to where we were staying
were at VIP waves. Okay, at VIP apparently means that

(15:44):
no matter what movies are showing and what the ratings are,
you must be at least eighteen years old what to
enter the movie theater.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Wow. Wow, Maybe the Minecraft movie changed state law or
law and they were like, you know what, no more
kids in movie theater without an adult. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
I think that this is something longstanding that they've that
they've had and like, do you think that that would
work here, like to have movie theaters that are playing
Leeland and The Stitch, but you can't go in unless
you're an adult.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
They would die much quicker that the movie theater would
die much faster.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Yeah, but apparently they're thriving in Canada because there were
two of them. Those were the two closest theaters to
where we were staying. And it's like, hey, I just
want to take my.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Kids to see a movie when you were with them,
that shouldn't have been a problem, right or no?

Speaker 2 (16:32):
No, no, like, even if you are accompanied by an adult,
children are not allowed.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Every individual Yeah, okay.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Everybody must be over eighteen years old. Interesting, Yeah, so
kids not allowed period.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
Wow. Okay, well that's Canada. I love you guys, but
that's sounds kind of backwards and we need to do
some research find now what happened, Like, yeah, it must
have been an incident in the nineties or two thousands.
They're like, they're like, you know what, kids are done?
You know you're bad?

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Ay a A we we But yeah, they had a
lot of regular theaters as well, but they had these
it VP.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Yeah, I guess I know. There are some places where
like you know, yeah, kids aren't allowed. Some restaurants in
America they're like, no kids allowed because you know they're jerks.
And so yeah, maybe maybe it's as a popular thing,
uh in Old Canada.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Yes, But but as far as Leeloun's Stitch goes, I
would just tell people, I know you love the originals,
but let it go and give this a chance to
be what it is, because I thought it was really
really good and my kids really really liked it, and
I want to go see it again.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
How are the CG effects because I know, like for example, Sonic,
like Sonic, he's like the only CGI character in the film,
and then thats like a three at least there or
fore a main ones that are prevalent. But but uh, yeah,
the Sonic looks and works really well. I'm assuming this one,
and I.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
Think that that using that technique, that's what they've done here. Also,
where CGI is as minimal as possible, they only use
it very sparingly with the characters that are CGI, and
with a few of the stunts or fight scenes, but
like as minimal as possible, and I think it really works.
They keep the family right at the heart of this

(18:15):
story and you feel that and Little Maya, who plays
Leel is just so adorable, so cute. She reminds me
of my daughter so much, and just she just it's
such a great job. And I just loved watching her
on the screen and it just made it all that
more endearing and it's like you just want to hug
her and protect her, and you know, and it's a

(18:36):
good movie. You did a great job.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Now you've seen Le Loan Stitch. Yes, okay, how long ago?

Speaker 2 (18:42):
A few days ago?

Speaker 1 (18:43):
No? No, not that, Oh, the original? I know you
watched Leloan Stitch. The original.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
You gotta be specific. Years it's been years, yes, since
I seen the original.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
You may remember Jumba. He has in the animated version
a Russian accent. This one is just zach Akis voice. Yes, right,
and so he and people like interviewing zach during the
you know, the build up lead up to this, they're
asking him like, hey, so there are a lot of
a lot of changes in this film, one of them
being you don't have a Russian accent. And one thing

(19:13):
that was interesting that kind of that uh you know,
caught in my attention was he was saying, yeah, no
Russian accent. I went into the role when I got hired, saying,
you know, I'm willing to do whatever you guys want
me to do, and he was willing to do the accent,
but Disney told him no accent. We're not We're not
going to do any accents. And he said, yeah, it's
a little weird right now, and they're not fans of

(19:35):
doing accents. And he said, you know, it makes sense, like,
you know, Russia Russian accents. You know, the Russian Russian
accents of characters always play like the bad guy in
any American films, And so is Disney being a little
too cautious with that right now and not wanting to
offend anybody or or certain countries or whatnot.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
I don't know if it's being too cautious, but yeah,
that is definite lamp pattern.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
He looked uncomfortable as he was answering that question, because
he too looked disappointed. I was like, yeah, I know, like, yeah,
we can't. We couldn't use the accent. They said, they
just wanted me to be me, And you know, it's
a little it's weird right now. It's a weird time
right now for accents. So that's fine.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
I think that's fine.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
It's I don't think my jumba hashtag my jumba.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
And there was like a whole other character that was
completely removed, the one that's chasing Lelo the.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
Whole time, isn't it isn't gone to a giant one.
Yeah he's gone to.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
Yeah, gone, too's gone.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
He's gone, gone, gone, He's gone to.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
But he's gone to exactly. I don't know where he's
gone to. No, but he's gone too. Anyways, I don't
think I feel I don't think it was much of
a loss. It was fine without him.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
Okay, so you would recommend absolutely.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
Nine out of ten, nine out of ten. Shirtless Kyla Renz, I'll.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Uh again because my daughter she's a little too young
for the movie theater, so I think I'll wait to
show her show it to her, but I'll probably watch
it on Disney Point.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
But you need to watch it because there's a change
they make at the end that is proving to be
pretty controversial that I would really love to have a
debate with you about whether this is good or this
is bad, or.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
The stitcht join a cult or something. And he's like, Illoha, Colts,
we love you, yeah, we love you. Yeah, well, I'll
see it as soon as I can and we'll get
back into the spoilers and all the debate.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
So tune in for the next episode of the Hub

Hooked Boston on the film Machine, hooked on the hull.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
That'll be our next podcast.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Yeah, I don't know what that one. Would that one
be about fishing.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
Maybe it'd be just about bathwater, just all bathwater contents
and who is making it?

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Yeah, exactly, all right, you you do that maybe with
the different goals.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
We're gonna talk about the Last of Us season two finale,
but we just got some breaking news.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
Breaking news. I am not smart. No, I was wrong
about Ben Wang. He was not in Avatar the Last Airbender,
but he was a character in shang Chi.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
So this are you sure?

Speaker 2 (23:07):
I am sure that that part. I'm sure? Yes, Okay, sorry,
I just am just fan casting him in everything.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Maybe he could be a Zuko's evil brother or good brother,
good twinses brother.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Yeah, something like that.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Change the lore. I was speaking about lore changing my goodness. Okay,
So the Last of Us. Let's get so. The Last
of Us season two finale was last week and I
actually didn't realize it was last week, Like I forgot
how many episodes are in this like seven or eight? Eight? Yeah,
this season and this one kind of took me by

(23:40):
surprise because I was watching the episode and then it
ended and it just like, Okay, well, stay tuned next
year or whatever for season three. I'm like, what that
was it? That was it? Because it was so anti climactic.
And I know we're We've been big defenders of Bella Ramsey.
We've been big defenders of this season, you know, liking
where it's going and and being open to changes and

(24:03):
how things are, you know, progressing with or without Pedro
Pascal and Joel the Joel Miller character. However, this last
episode or two, especially this last one, has really got
me not liking Ellie the character Ellie more and more.
And this final episode is pretty rough. And part of

(24:25):
it is, of course because of the writing and the
and the direction, but also apparently the directing because Bella Ramsey,
I don't know this episode. I'm not turning against her
or anything like that. I'm not joining that band bandwagon,
but man, it really ends on a very anti climactic note.
And I'm very disappointed with the characterization of Eli. From

(24:47):
what I've read online, it's completely different and people have
said this before, but you know, kind of emphasizing how
it's completely different the show's character version of Ellie is
to the video game version of Ellie. And during this episode,
I was actually rooting against her, and not like, you know,
kind of like the anti hero kind of way. It's
just like just making stupid decisions and you're very incompetent,

(25:10):
and you're making things worse for everybody. Yeah, and it's
hard to root for the main character when they're doing
things that are costing lives or putting other people in danger.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
And I think, you know, part of what they're doing
here is they want the audience to question who is
the real victim, right and who is the real villain?
But I don't think that there is a clear answer.
I don't think anyone is a hero here. I think
everyone has made bad choices. No one is you know,
innocent or purely a victim or anything like that. But yeah,

(25:42):
she is making really terrible decisions and they're exploring right,
the revenge right, and there are no winners in revenge,
and the collateral damage that comes as a result of
not being able to let this go right and the betrayals,
it just it just seems like, yeah, everything is falling apart,

(26:03):
Everything is falling apart for this.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
Character I can understand if I could understand that character development,
or you know, an imperfect protagonist, someone who you know
makes bad decisions but you are sympathetic to them and
you want to continue rooting for them. But then so
that comes into the whole writing of it, you know,

(26:25):
the direction of it, the writing of the season, and
I don't know, it's it's making me very hesitant to
look forward to a season three. Yeah, I will say that,
you know, Caylin Dever, she plays Abby, She's incredible in
this role. And I don't know, I feel like Bella
Ramsey has been a little lackluster, more so in the
past couple episodes. Maybe that's due to the writing, but

(26:47):
also I don't know, maybe maybe I'm starting to see
maybe the limits of range, because there's some moments where
where Ellie has to like scream in anger and is
and is supposed to come off as intimidating or scary
and it's falling kind of flat. And again, I'm not
trying to join the bandwagon bandwagon of criticizing the actress,

(27:08):
but and I think it's been She's been doing a
pretty good job, but the past couple episodes, I feel
like there's a wall that was hit, a limit that's
been reached, and there are moments where you're trying to
be like funny and it's not really landing. I'm not
really connecting with the later version of Ellie or Bella
Ramsey's portrayal of her. So that's very disappointing as somebody

(27:28):
who's a supporter of the show and was liking where
it's going. Yeah, and then with it ending on this
kind of like cliffhanger, that was very like disappointing, especially
learning that, oh, this is the season finale, Like I don't.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
Know, yeah, but it does follow the video game.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
It does follow the video game apparently, so I'm I
haven't played the video game. That being said, you.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Know it's and this is part of like why when
we first started watch, when the first season first came out,
and even before then, I was telling him like, I
really hope that they sort of diverge from the video
game store because a lot of people didn't like it,
and you know, when I watched it, I didn't really
like it, and I was really really really hoping that

(28:09):
they would make some changes because I don't think that
it's a storyline that a lot of people are going
to enjoy and they're not making any changes. They're keeping
very very tightly sort of to that video game storyline
with you know, some changes here and there, but the
main storyline is, yeah, progressing the way that the video

(28:30):
game does. So season three, have you.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
Played the video game or no? But you just have
not many played the video game. Many of the cuttings
your I watched Ellie like unlikable in the second video game.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
I feel like she's more likable.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
And competent, right, I feel like I feel like this
version of Ellie in the show is just kind of
like flying by the seat of her pants and would
be would be killed instantly or really put in immediate
danger if it wasn't for Dina, you know, Isabella Marsette's
character of saving her and like slowing her down and
making her think critically and rationally and tactfully. So, yeah,

(29:14):
I don't know if if that's similar to the video game.
If so, I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
I feel like it's maybe she's a little more knows
what she's doing in the video game and a little
more like grounded maybe, but it all ends in the
same way, like it's you get to know and love
and root for this character, and then you realize that
she is making every wrong decision imaginable and you know,

(29:43):
and that is still the same and so the consequences
of her actions come to roost at the end for
everyone around her. But it's very similar to what happened
with Joel. The consequences of his actions come to roost
for everyone around him. Right, So I don't think it's
that much of a departure from the theme, the overall

(30:05):
theme of the show. But maybe it's not done as
well as with with Joel.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
And yeah and all of that. Maybe it's like getting
conveyed that well by the by the showrunners. The show
runners actually did, like there was an interview after the
final episode saying, how like Abby is a hero, Like
they want to, you know, everybody has like their.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Their sympathize with her.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
They want to sympathize with her with Abby, but they
say that Abby is like almost like the hero of
the story. And so maybe it's not exactly like like
the game, or maybe it is. I don't know, but
like they did say, like, you know, Abby is like
the one that's kind of in the right here, and
Ali is the one that's in the wrong, and so
I don't know how you are supposed to continue rooting
for the one that's in the wrong, because if you

(30:46):
look at like, I don't know, breaking bad you know, uh,
you know, what's his name, Walt. Walt's character is very
flawed and he gets progressively worse and he and he
becomes like an anti not even anti hero, but it
becomes a despicable So you still like watching him. You know,
you know he's a bad guy and he's doing bad things,

(31:06):
but you're enjoying him and you understand his motivations and
you can sympathize with it to an extent, and even
with like, for example, like John Wick. Like John Wick,
you know, he killed his dog and he's going on
as like a five hundred person murder spree. Yeah, you're
enjoying it, is like yeah, like, yeah, tend me. You're
a bad person, but like you know, you're we love
watching you.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
It's the oh what's it called. What's it called? It's
the the revenge?

Speaker 1 (31:30):
No, no, no, save the cat, Save the cat.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
It's to save the cat thing. Right, If you have
a character that is like that, you have to have
that saving grace, that allows you to connect and still
root for them, Yeah, or exactly like you said, but
I feel like there's no save the cat here for
for Ellie. Yeah, and I don't know whose fault that is.
I don't know, but yes, my husband said the exact

(31:54):
same thing. He watched the finale last night and he's like,
that was really disappointing and anticlimactic. So that's yeah, that's
that's sad.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
So I'm kind of sad too, So not sure.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
And now we're going to have a perspective shift, right.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
So if anything, that's what I'm looking forward to. I'm
looking forward to seeing Abby because Abby, you know, she
she you understand where she's coming from. She is very
in depth you know, character work, and you sympathize with her.
And the thing is she's good. She's good at doing
what you need to do, so like unlike Ellie where
she gets caught up in a lot of situations or
can't handle herself without help or whatnot. And in the

(32:31):
video game, I understand that she is able to do
that Abby, and you're watching it on the screen like
she's very competent. That's the word I keep coming back to.
It's very competent. At this and capable. So I'm so
this is like a different ships in perspective, and you're
watching her like kick ass, and you kind of side
with her because you know, she's the one that was
wronged and and you know, did her one man revenge.

(32:52):
She killed who she wanted to kill, didn't kill anybody
else that she didn't need to, and then left and
then everything else happened. So yeah, we'll see what happens.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
To But unfortunately you weren't really no satisfied.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
Not really satisfied. But what I am satisfied about. What
I am looking forward to is the reintroduced, the reintroduction
the new season of King of the Hill. Okay, have
you seen that show?

Speaker 2 (33:22):
So I have seen that show. I wasn't like really
big into it, but yes, I've seen the show.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
Yeah, yeah, I love the show. Growing up, watched like
every week every Sunday, like after the Simpsons that came out.
Damn It, Bobby, damn It ding it, Bobby, that boy.
And right, well, this one this picks up, you know,
years after the final episode, and so instead of like
where we left Bobby like in middle school, he is
a young man. He's in his twenties, now, okay, so

(33:48):
this is very fun. King of the Hill Revived appearing
on Hulu on August fourth this summer.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
So it's already coming out. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
Yeah. The new episodes will acknowledge the passage of time,
with Bobby Hill now an adult after being a middle
schooler during the show's first thirteen seasons originally aired from
ninety seven to twenty ten. And one thing that was
really fun about this they had, like you know, if
you remember the intro of the of the episode of
each episode, it shows like Hank, Bill, Boomhauer and Dale

(34:18):
like drinking beer in the alley and everything is going
fast motion around them while they're just standing there and
you know, life's going on, and so this kind of
does a quick kind of like catchup of what happens
through the years. And so you have like you have
like the you know, Bill, Dale, Boomhuer and Hank sitting
there and then you see like you know, the kids

(34:38):
running around and the next like this this all happens
in like seconds, like you know, hit moments. You see
like Bobby's older in his teenage years, and you see
like his friend Joseph and his girlfriend older, and then
things keep moving and then eventually you see the Hill
family move like they move out. So for a while
it's just the three you know, Dale, Boomhauer and Bill,

(35:00):
and then a new person moves in. Then it was
for them again, and then all of a sudden. It's
funny because you see a moment where like Bill sneezes
and he walks out of frame, and then the next
like frame, they're all wearing masks, so it comes coated,
and then like and then it keeps going on, and
then a certain point Dale you see like vote for
mid Dale as mayor, like stickers and posters pop up

(35:21):
and like he's all happy and he runs off scene.
And then eventually the Hank, Peggy and Bobby they move
back into the house and they're older and so Bobby's
in his twenties Peggy and Hank looks a little bit
older too, and then you know, you get you get
kind of you know, resituated back into where they are now.
Are we on the propane the propane and propane accessories?

(35:42):
I'm assuming, I'm I don't know, Yeah, we'll see, we'll
find out. We'll find out, and so I'm really looking
forward to this. So King of the Hill after fifteen
years since the last episode.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
It's not often that you see like a cartoon come
back like that.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
Yeah, and age the characters, right, Yeah, yeah, so that
I'm excited if or so you know what else I'm excited.
What are you excited for?

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Netflix? Netflix is having their Toudem Festival that Yeah, why
do you hate it? How t u d u m A.
It's automati, it's automotiveile. I know it's too dumb.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
It's too dumb. Sorry, I I love it. I just
don't like that name.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
From the going Mary my sales. Yeah, listen, but yes,
a lot of they're coming out with their the big
shows and the big movies of the year. We're gonna
get the trailer for the second season of One Piece.
We're gonna see what their fully c g I character.
There's a c GI character that's a reindeer, a transforming

(36:53):
monster doctor reindeer. Why not Chopper Chopper, And they haven't
revealed what that character design is going to look like yet,
so we're gonna hopefully get a look and see if
this is actually going to be a good character that's
going to fit in. We're getting a look at some
of the other movies, including The Happy Gilmore Too, which

(37:14):
was filmed here in New England. So that's by the
time people watch this episode, too dumb will have happened.
So go over to the Netflix, I don't know, social
media's and pages and whatnot and see what they've got
to offer. But I'm really really excited about watching that. Okay,
I don't know, Maybe I have I just been pulled in,

(37:35):
have I been you know, all of their marketing has
worked on me, They've brainwashed me or whatever. But I'm
actually excited for it, which is you know.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
Well, I'm excited that you're excited. I'm not excited for
But yeah, I don't watch one piece. I don't watch

there's a movie of the day and you have to
guess what movie it is based off of the quotes
that are provided. You have five guesses, five quotes right.

(38:40):
And we're on a winning streak. We are on a
nine game winning streak.

Speaker 2 (38:43):

It does sound British. You are right about that. All right, okay,
let's see you next quote. We'll do next quote in
three to one. It's Tilice sarting. Now, okay you tell
oh the buddies come back. I'm going to guess dun Kirk. Okay,

to watch it as well, and especially your thoughts on
the Last of Us finale of season two. A lot
of things I liked, a lot of things I didn't like. Again,
there's there's a whole subplot that and that was that

(41:06):
was happening, and then you don't see it's sorry. I
guess there's a war in the Last of Us video
game with with like a faction, and there's a lot
of build up to that, and then you see them
leaving on boats and then that was it? Like what
the where they like? Where do they go? And so yeah,
there's lots of so much stuff going on. I have mixed
feelings about Last of Us, but hopefully you don't have
mixed feelings about us, Jamie and I you love us?

(41:28):
We love you?

Speaker 2 (41:30):
