Podcast and we're here day three Louder of Life. I
got Mike Sanchez from Acid Bath and how are we

(00:21):
feeling today?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Like God with the heart on?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Fair enough?

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Got a few questions for it if you don't mind, sure,
So first off, what's it? What was it like starting
a band all the way back in the Nola scene?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Well, we really wasn't in the Nola scene.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Now, where'd you gotta start it?

Speaker 4 (00:38):
It's between Homer Morgan City and Galiana. Okay, South Margan,
I'm New Orleans Southwest.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Oh what was it like back then? What was that
area like?

Speaker 2 (00:49):
We did nothing?

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Stagnant water fucking stinks like dried ass shrimp. I used
smell like fucking dead fish.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
You know. Gravestones. Look, you know that was true.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
You know the skyscrapers do look like fucking gravestones where
we lived.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
You know, it's it's just in the Sticks.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
You know, it's where people going to work every day
nine to five, are seven to fucking six whatever. Hard
living down there. Yeah, so yeah, that's where we're from.
It was hard for us to get to New Orleans,
so we basically went to Lafayette first. So they're playing
Latfaette And what really broke us out was Kyle Thomas

(01:30):
from ex Order and we played this place called the
Pitt and Baton Rouge. We got a good response and
from there it took off. So personally, I give a
lot of this to It's Kyle Thomas.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
You know, he doesn't slaughter in the Vatican.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
That just came out and yeah, I've been really really young,
you know, hard to remember.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Those times, but that's okay. By the memories carried on.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
It was good memory, right, And then we finally got
into the West Bank, which you liked, the jungle in
West Side, and then we got to the Memory and
then we started playing every.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Fucking where you know, blew up out for that.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Yeah, so it was kind of hard, you know, getting
in the click with the New Orleans bands.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
We felt like outsiders.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
I don't know if we get got treated like outsiders
because I wasn't paying attention to that at the time,
but we felt.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Like it, you know, just the back of the mind
feeling yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Like you know, I know I belong here, you know
what I mean. But to prove.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Yourself exactly, yeah, exactly exactly. There wasn't playing around, you know,
you had to know what you were doing for sure.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Well, once you were in, you were in.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Oh maybe not sometimes it depends, you know, depends on what.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
I don't fucking know. It's it's a hard thing to
talk about, you know, but eventually we got in and
eventually we made all friends and eventually we got there.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
I mean, it's just like somebody trying to come up
and take your job.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Oh okay, that makes sense.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
You know what I'm saying. Yeah, be honest about.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
S Well, I appreciate you opening up from sharing that
with us. Well, let's talk about Assibat today.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
So you're back and you had your first show.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
What you're twenty April twenty fifth.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Yeah, so we're playing lower in Life this year.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
And if you hadn't had a chance to walk around
and see how big this place is, holy shit, it's huge.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
We just got off stage and it was insane.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
It was beautiful sun setting. Well but no, we're just right.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
No other fucker like the bitch. It was Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
I like we watched you guys at what was a
day I believe incarceration fest. Yeah right, said there, thank you.
I've been busy back here. That's all we had to missaid,
And I think how the media life goes. But what
was the moment that's arn't the I guess the let's
get the band back together, let's do this thing. Do
you remember that moment?

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Yes, Sammy and I have been talking about this for
a long time. We were actually thinking about like getting
another singer, because Dax always said.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
He wouldn't do it for no reason at all.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
And Sammy was on the road at the time and
he was like, look, man, you know, just as the bad.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Things growing, I see it, I see it, I see it,
I see it. And Dax is a genius and he.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Can write, you know, he needs just to you know,
you know, I don't have to explain to you you
know who he is. So I didn't think it would
have it happened because of that, you know, the sick
new Dan Rosenbloom, which was Gothor's agent, got with us.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
And Ax, Sammy blah blah blah, this or that.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
Sammy talked to me, he said, hey, you want to
do the Sick New World for this much amount and
we're going to get it, try to get another singer.

Speaker 6 (04:59):
I said, well, let's gods see if he does. Let's
see if you can maybe you know, open up a
little bit. Yeah the waters and so we.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
Asked Dax and he said, yes, like what the nice
and so a couple of guys that we had got
together with in the practice room. We changed a few
songs around as you know, like you know, bone's gonna
heavy at the end because we don't want to keep
the ship the same way that people have.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Missed it forever, you know what I mean, you kind
of want spice it up. Yes, thank you very much.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
You know.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
So, what was the moments that you were like, let's
get the band back together exactly?

Speaker 4 (05:40):
So that was the moment and the moment I knew
that everything would work, is that when Sammy and Zach
got off the road and he came to the practice
room and I just started playing Pagan Love Song and
Dax comes running up the stairs and he just thoughts,
nailing it right, Hey, yeah, all of us got the

(06:02):
chills and we're like, yeah, it's gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Oh no, it's just there. That's a good movement.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
So yeah, it was. It was a It was a
moment I'll never forget.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Now, you have plenty of stories to tell. I'm sure.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
I want to know what's one of the most memorable
tour stories that you can share. Maybe it was a
crazy day, crazy night, something.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Happened, what hegan love songs about? No, tell me fuck
got about ten minutes and tell me. Look. It was
on Cocoa Beach in Florida.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
This guy down there says, hey, we got some mush
from tea, right, So we go down there and drink
some mushroom tea. So Dacks takes a jug, I take
it to jog drink. The next thing, you know, we're
taking these flowers out of our mouths, Like, what the
fuck is this some mushroom tea? You know, he says, man,
be careful, don't drink so much. That's fucking Angel trumpets.
And I'm like, what Angel trumpets? What the fuck is

(06:53):
that Angel trumpet? You know, Well, everybody was on the
beach man, you know, beautiful women. Next thing, you know,
we wake up. Nobody there. Everything's fucking gloomy. And we
had this culmination mock on the bus. I could see
the numbers, but I couldn't understand it. Yeah, yeah, like
it was a it's a very weird trip. You know,

(07:16):
we're playing who know. I can tell it was a
blue card. I knew it was a too, but I
didn't know what the fucking meant. So I was in
the bathroom, so I'm taking the shower talking to Chimney
behind me. Well, I what the fuck he used to
do in the shower with me turning around?

Speaker 2 (07:31):
He wasn't there. So it was like really strange and
just happened for three days. Well after the third day,
I shouldn't say this, I fucking camera, but I hit
some dough right, I threw up.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
This snake stick the phone and because we played with
this band called Death that night in Tampa, and I
feel better instantly, So you know, I.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Ain't feel so gud m today.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Ice cream and scream, you know, ice scream for Marpee
all that ship, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Listen to the lyrics, explain.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
To the wonderful Well, thank you for sharing that. What
can fans expect going into the new year of twenty
twenty six.

Speaker 4 (08:14):

have so much shit that I need to put one out.
I just need a decent singer, which is gonna come about.
Plus we have a European We're going to Europe. Fucking
We're going to Europe in June and the part of
July or June twenty ninth of July something with the

(08:38):
System of a Down and the Queens of a Stone
Age awesome want to open Europe. So that's pretty fucking big.
Oh yeah, so yeah, there's there's a lot on the horizon.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
