is Covin from the Chemical Podcast, Day three, Louder in Life.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
I'm here with Attack Attack. What do you guys do
in the band?
Speaker 3 (00:14):
I played bass, I played drums and also it's my band.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
You've been there forever.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Yeah, and we've talked to this guy before, so he's
gonna look familiar. But it's all right because I love
talking to you guys, because I'm a big fan ever
since it cel titled Cell title is the one which
just came out and talked about someday came suddenly. I''t
been a fan since then, and you guys have been great.
And then you went out on Hio since twenty thirteen.
Then you guys kind of came back with a couple
of EPs. We got that new cell titled it's the
(00:41):
first one since Win twenty thirteen.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Uh yeah, our last full length record was This Means
War in twenty.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Twelve, twenty twelve.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Yeah, So what was the big I knew you came
back with Joey Sergers with the first EP and he
kept going with the second EP.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
What made you guys, go all right, it's album time.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Honestly, it was just sort of we spent a lot
of time trying to figure out just all of it essentially,
you know, I was coming back to the band was
more of a I felt like there was unfinished business
and then for whatever reason, just the universe aligned and
then it started to happen. But in the midst of
all that, you know, where there's we had a lot
(01:17):
of questions that we need to answer, like what what
is attack attack now? And even like does it does
it even deserve or belong here anymore? You know? So
as we were writing these EPs and just doing them
kind of like taking little bites, we were writing in
a bunch of different directions and trying to explore different
things and try to find out like what.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
What is this really in a true sense?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
And when we finally got to the demo for Dance,
that's when the door kind of unlocked. And I know,
Chris singer, Chris and I had had a lot of
conversations about just trying to find out like where where
were all of us when we first started being a band,
and I'd spent some time and it sounds kind of
(01:59):
silly when I say it, but I actually spent some
time and just imagined like putting my butt cheeks back
in the drum throne of Caleb's parents' basement while we
were writing stick Stickley and just trying to like reconnect
with that past version of myself and to just think
about like what were we doing in that room? And
all we were doing was just writing music that we
(02:19):
wanted to hear and that unlocked with dance and we
were like, oh, we've been trying so hard this full
time and we just need to send it.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
There's that super popular video.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
It's behind the scenes let stick Stickley, that's like Llians
that's awesome.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
But yeah, Will Ramos is on this track, and it's
your first collab with an artist, right yep?
Speaker 2 (02:38):
So why why was it Will Ramos? Well, I know why.
He's cool. He's a great guy. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
But honestly, when we finished writing that track, we just
kind of looked at each other and we were like,
it's got to be him.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Yeah, We're just kind of like, who's like the heaviest.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
Guy out right now? And it was Will, Like we
got to hit him up and we just did and
he was stoked on it.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
So He's like, fuck, yeah, we're doing it.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah, it was super simple, where like this is just
it needs an egregiously heavy vocalist and it can only
be this one man.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
So you had multiple producers with this as well.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Right, yeah, any like from names that would be familiar
or like any surprise arts or so the two guys that.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Did the majority of it. So Andrew Bayless is he
He and Chris and I used to be in a
band together, like back in the day dad rock band
Nice and we used to go on tour with like
Pod and Hinder and Non Point and stuff. And when
that band ended, so Evan McKeever who played guitar in
that band as well.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Bayless first moved down to.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Nashville and started producing, and he started working with Jelly
Roll like before the explosion.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
So he he receives plaques all the.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
Times for all those records going platinum and stuff, which
is really funny. And so he and I worked together,
but honestly, he works with lots of uh, he works
with a lot of country stuff. But he comes from
he was in the band Life on Repeat. So if
you're a scenister, you'll you'll know that we played festivals
together and stuff back in the day, and he just
has a passion for it. He's just kind of like
all over the place. And Evan is a is a
(04:07):
guy that we grew up with. He came up in
the same scene in you know, northeastern Ohio. He was
in Before Their Eyes for a while, so you know,
it's same thing. Also, is working in country lives in Nashville.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Now three of us do.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
And it was just kind of like, hey, do you
want to you want to just like do a little
metal corp just for funzies, and they're like, yeah, let's
do it.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Yeah, that keeps things fresh and exciting.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
And yeah, honestly, man like fans at the beginning and
have that break and following you guys like individually with
other bands and stuff some rules.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
It's so good.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
What's your favorite track off the album?
Speaker 5 (04:40):
Why, I'll just say Chainless, just because I love playing
that breakdown at the end, that breakdown.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
It's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Yeah, it's pretty good. I honestly don't know.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
And this is how this is how I was kind
of like, I think we did it because I was
listening through all these tracks and trying to fiure out
which one I like the most of my answer kept changing,
and you know, there are like lots of really special
moments that I really liked all of it. I com
plain on our metal core it just like it still
makes me laugh. Yes, like it's just so absurd and
I love that about it. But I don't know, I
(05:14):
think I think Big Booty Britches is probably my total,
like favorite favorite.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
It just has this kind of charisma to it that
you can get wrong with it. I just love it.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
So what can fans expect, Let's say twenty twenty five
is hover? What can fans expect in twenty twenty six?
Speaker 3 (05:29):
And we have not done We have some things that
we can't announce yet, but we are going to be
active in festival world through twenty twenty six. Good, and
we're going to be putting quite a bit of effort
into making those special appearances and you know, just continuing
to be stupid.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Okay, that's what we like to hear. Any final words for.
Speaker 5 (05:50):
Fans, I appreciate the hell lot of you guys for
coming out still and like just rocking out with us.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
It's super fun. Every show is fun.
Speaker 5 (05:58):
Even on this tour, every show is just been a blast,
like everyone's rocking out to the new song for the
old songs in a role.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
So I appreciate that from the fans.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Yeah, yeah, I agree, Echo, that's it's a very special feeling.
Regardless if we're playing you know, Lotder than Life, where
we're playing to one hundred and fifty people in a
little bar somewhere, there is this feeling of when I'm
sitting there playing you know, smoke Ahontas or Stickstickley and
songs that are from forever ago that I wrote when
I was a teenager, and I see people genuinely smiling
(06:30):
and just like enjoying it so much. It does something
to me that I can't describe, and it's a really
good feeling. And so we just we love being able
to share those moments with you guys, And yeah, I
mean your support means literally everything to us. And so
we're just gonna keep trying to show up and be
goofy and it's not that serious.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
That's right. These guys are going to take over the world.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Get ready for more announcements from these guys in twenty
twenty six. And we got that seal titled two album
out right now. It's wards wrapping up with these guys
or a loud and lived eight three. We'll see you
next time. Hey, if you minted this far, thank you seriously.
