Speaker 1 (00:00):
My name is Sam from Guilt Trip and this is
the Kevin Powell Podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Hey, it's up, guys. It's Kevin Powell from the Kevin
pell Podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
I'm here with Sam and Lily from Guild Trip.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
And you guys are from where? Mainly Manchester area. Yeah,
so you guys are here in Louisville, Kentucky. Nice and hot.
What's the difference? What's the biggest difference so far? Manchester's
rained twenty four seven. Yeah, it's got to be the weather. Yeah, definitely.
So it's a nice change. Do you do you prefer it?

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yeah, I love the hate. I love I'd live here
if jeez. So how long have you guys been here since? What?

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Super early in the morning or your first on our stage?
So we got here about maybe ninety nine.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
So I asked that because this is probably the biggest
Dating Womer Presents festival so far and we just walked
out on sweating. We just got back from a nice
fifteen mile hike to the stage at the other end
of the venue. Is this your first Dating Women Presents festival?
This is of the US festival? WHOA yeah show, I'm
sure whoa? So you better be out here because you

(01:06):
guys are going to miss Field Trip at their first
US festival.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
That's how's that feel? Incredible?

Speaker 1 (01:11):
We have already played though, so everyone you missed us already?

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Geez, okay, well that's all right. How did it be?
All right? Walk me through? You went on stage and
walk us through. What happened? Oh god?

Speaker 1 (01:24):
I mean seeing the amount of people out there was
for the first US show. It's good, feeling good, yeah,
I mean.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Way really, we didn't expect that many people to show.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
It was a bit of a shock because we were
sort of waiting to play, and then Rob Flint from
Machine Ed coums side step and watching and speaks to
us and everything.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
So it was good. It was surreal, bit surreal, very surreal.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Okay, so you got your first experience at this and
now you want more. So twenty twenty six is going
to come up and you want to play all those
Now do you think you prefer a big festival like
this compared to the club shows or what's the preference there?

Speaker 4 (01:57):
We love buff really, we love both sides of the spectrum,
don't we.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
I love club shows if there is no barrier, I
love you know, I love stage dives.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Everyone get on stage and stuff.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
But festivals and more people and it's could just be
more exciting.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
I think, Yeah, I personally more enjoy festivals, but I
love I do love doing the club shows, but I
do the festivals are just there's a certain magic in
the air.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
And I like playing outdoor as well. It's the outdoor.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
So have you guys been over to like Download Fast
or anything like that?

Speaker 1 (02:27):
We played last year? We did Whoa I played Download
last year. That was in a tent, but it was
still I mean, I'll still play Nick British Weather. It
was chucking it down with rain, yeah, and e intent
was a good thing.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
And I'll be honest, Downward festival back in the YouTube
days where they upload the best quality videos and you
would watch all your favorite bands because you're not overseas.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Yeah, is it still like that. It's still cool. It's
still a cool festival. Yeah, And it was a bucket
list festival to play. Whether it's I don't think it's
televised anymore though it's not. I've seen a long time.
It's no longer kind of gets the foot king.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
The location slightly changed as well, didn't it, Like yeah,
maybe slightly.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Sure, The first time I ever when was about ten
years ago.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
This is a nice full circle moment for me because
I've talked to I don't know how many bands at
this point, but a couple have played download Fest over
the years, and they're always like, it's a muddy fest.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Yeah, they have a lot of issues. I think it's
known as drowns.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Yeah, drownds load the amount of random mud.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Yeah, it's just it's it's in the summer time. But
it's just interesting.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
It's just how it is. I see a couple of
you guys wearing some down shirts. Now, unfortunately my camera
guy ruined mine trying to cut it up, so I'm
trying to get another one here. Who are you guys
most excited to see at A lot of.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
In life is down down. Yeah, I think.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Sadly, we don't have all the time in the world
to watch it we want to watch.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
I was most looking forward to win.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
A plague, but we clashed with them and I couldn't
get there, which is very, very sadly.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Because I was quite sided. But it is.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Yeah, I would have loved to have catched a cocus
as well, but they're on.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Right now.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Talking people that aren't familiar with, Like how busy like
the media and the backstage?

Speaker 3 (04:08):
What's it like back here? And I think it's nice.
I think I think it's really nice. I like it.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yeah, everyone can see what's going on out here.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Boy, I think this is one of the better backstages
for sure.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
All Right, all right, so what I'm experiencing is running
back and forth, sweating to the stages. I love interviewing bands,
don't get me wrong. This is my favorite thing to
do ever. But you do miss some of your favorites,
Like I got to catch I think a minute and
a half, which is like four songs are full of
hell with nout getting they were great.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
I got to take some pictures and they're fun.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
It's just I think this is the biggest Danny Women
Presents festival so far. But for the you guys, first timers,
how have staff? How has the event? How has everything
been treating you guys?

Speaker 1 (04:51):
We as soon as we got there was the friendliest
amount of ever stating my entire life. Yeah, it was
guiding knows way to go in the vauntain and stuff,
and we knew Lys He's going to be good to here.
Like everyone everyone's been lovely. Yeah, everyone's so friendly stage
and helping us with our gear and everything, and yeah
sound guy, he's not mixing guy.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
So Anywhere Presents always continues to improve and do good.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
By the artists.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
I'm glad to hear you guys are treated well again
now then Ice is the music video that kind of
got me into you guys, and you guys put out
that second album called Severance.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Severance, thank you.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
But with that, you know, a little bit of evolution
and sound, but it's still Guilt Trip. It's twenty twenty five.
What's coming up with you guys? What you got working in,
what's in the works. There will be new stuff coming,
but we had to release a new song yesterday, and
what to expect. I think the new stuff is heavier.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Diff's Guilt Trip without doubt, through and through, but it's
different from Severance. I just feel like we haven't dropped
the tune ins or anything like that. It's still still
all in the same tune in, still the same style,
but the.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Songs are heavier. I would say that's all to expect.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Yeah, I did see you guys just got signed to
Roadrunner Records.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Yeah right, Yeah, that's like yesterday as well with the single. Yeah,
dream come true?

Speaker 3 (06:08):
So all right, tell me why is it a dream
come true?

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Because we grew up the fans that have been on
Read Run. You know, I've watched the videos on YouTube
and whatnot.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
We are on the same label as Slipknot. That's all
I can say.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
And upset.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Right, Okay, So now since you're on a bigger label
and I have musicians that watch and listen to this,
what does that mean for you guys?

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Well, I mean hopefully it just means the growth of
the band in general. Yeah, you know, it's you're going
to say, risks with everything, you know, who knows what
the futureles.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
But we're hopeful, optimistic and.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Just hope that guilt just grows with the label.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
I guess you know, it's like it's just like the
opportunities as well.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
That process. Really, everything's happening so quick for us, I know. Yeah, yeah,
all kind of come along.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Its awesome.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Well, I'm glad you guys are on that. I'm glad
you guys have some new stuff in the works. With
twenty twenty six right around the corner, Is there any
anything that you can maybe share that might be coming
twenty twenty six? Were looking at EP album. Yeah, yes, yes, that's.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
All I'll say.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Yes, will not elaborate. That's perfect, that's perfectly fine. Dream
Guilt Trip Tour.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Why it would be different, every single member will be different,
but definitely my kind of a.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Full band package. Can we say, are we going to liner?
You can headline, you can open wherever you guys want.
I think this is the dream bands I want to
play with.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Yeah, like support of support in Slip Not, Kill Switch Machine,
Corn whoa, Yeah, that's a big that's a big line
up and it probably would never happen.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
But please see what I like doing this, because well
what are yours?

Speaker 4 (07:45):
Corn Machine, Head, Slipnot as Well's I can't really think.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
I think there's like boocket list bands to play with.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
So we've been fortunate to play with a lot of
bands that I would have said earlier in life, like
oh my god, I would you know dream to.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
Play with Biscuit as well as a big one for
all of us. Well, we just got to put the
pressure on Tori to get that goinger. Yeah, so I
ask a lot of bands this, but you guys are unique.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
You're from overseas. I've asked here.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
What they prefer when they go back and forth. What's
the biggest difference from overseas to here? Now this is overseas,
you guys, Yeah, I know. But what's the biggest difference
is pros cons anything? Well, in life in general, I
would say just performing and the music side of things.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
So it's hard to answer. We've only done one show.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
It was the first US show we've ever done. But
everyone most friendly, which isn't a usual thing for the
UK member.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
It's no rain, everyone's friendly. Yeah, we got to play outdoors.
That's not always. That's not a common thing for us.
That's not a common thing. The weather obviously is the
big one. I think America in general is just so
different to what we're used to. It's like another world.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Is completely because as soon as see, like you land
here and go outside, it's like, wow, this is different.
I mean we landed in New York and we were
there for the night and it was it was funny.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Yeah, that's funny.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Some characters, Oh yes, so you get two people observe,
which is one of our favorite pastimes, especially when we
get to see all these people.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
I love people observing. Yeah, I mean the UK is
full of some characters as well. But they're a bit
different from each other.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Yeah, okay, So one about any kind of advice you
guys would like to share with up and coming bands.
I ask every band this because every band has a
different answer, and you guys are from a different place
in the world.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
So stick out, stick with it, you know. Guilt Trip.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
I started playing Guilt Trip in twenty eighteen, so about
three years after the formation and the shows we were
playing then we I mean even in twenty twenty two
we played a show in Canada to about literally three people.
Maybe you know, it happens, you know that don't like
if you play a bad show, don't like dishearten you
even think, God, this, maybe this isn't for us, because
I'm sure it is if you stick to it. And

(09:58):
it disheartened us a bit playing into that amount people,
But it was on a run of shows that were
all great. You know, it's just a one in a million,
hopefully one in a million off day for us to
stick at it, you know, write music, you know, don't
all out with each other.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
Yeah, just playing as much as possible as well, you know,
getting on as main of shows as as you.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Can invest in it as well.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
I don't mean like spend loads of money, but like
if you're recording something, do it properly. They record properly.
I think I think a lot of people do kind
of respect that production, put someone meaning behind it and care.
Yeah exactly, Yeah, I don't just yeah, it's fine. You know,
there's certain genres. I'll thrive on that, but I think

(10:40):
go to go to someone and get it.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Hold one properly.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Very well said for both of you, guys. Any final
words you want to say to fans.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Thank you to everyone that came today to watch us
in surreal, crazy experience. And yeah, thank you for spotting us.
Appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Yeah, so really, thank you so much. Catwit to come
back to America.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
Awesome gilt trip. They played loud in Life.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
They're gonna play loud in Life again next year and
then every festival ever including download. They're gonna headline with
Slipping Nod. It's gonna be great. Now, it's just gonna
be a lot of fun. Toy We're after you. We
gotta get you on this.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
So thanks for.
