Man? If you didn't know he designed the.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
Logo, that's right, I did that.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Remember this one?
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I do remember I did these.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
He does design stuff and he's also the vocalist for Mugshot.
So how's it feel to be at loud in Life.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
I'm beyond fucking grateful.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
I was, you know, waking up here and getting just
seeing all the stages and all like the rides and
like just the festival grounds in general.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
I'm like, damn, it's so fucking good to be here.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
What time did you wake up?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
I don't remember going to bed.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
That's okay, you guys. Have you ever been to like
a Danny Wimber Presents festival?
Speaker 4 (00:42):
Yeah, we played We played Rockville uh oh last year
and that was fucking incredible and got us all extremely
fucking excited to be here.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
So yeah, very excited for that.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
How many people do you think you're gonna be here
all weekend? Two hundred thousand. I saw two hundred thousand
come to the gate this morning. Yeah, so you guys
are at what stage today?
Speaker 4 (01:03):
We're at the big Bourbon bourb Yeah, seven stages here
this weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
It's like, so we were here last year and of
course the hurricane happened, and we were talking about this
on the car right over a lot of people that
want to see Slayer are gonna be here this year.
A lot of people want to see bringing me to
the horizon, You're gonna fly out and see them. A
lot of people want to see Sleep Tooken, Bam Bam Bam, Deptones,
you name it. But also Mugshot. So when did you
officially become the vocalist?
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Uh? It was during during the COVID lockdown.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
Uh, right before like shows and stuff started coming back
sometime around then. I don't remember like the exact the
exact day or like the exact time. It was just
me and Connor had been talking and you know, one
thing after another and stuff, and then we ended up here.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
What was your background prior to joining Mugshot.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
I'd played in a bunch of bands.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
I used to live in Arizona, played in some bands
out there a couple hardcore bands like beat Down stuff, metalcore,
like whatever, And that's actually how I met Mugshot. My
old band did a tour with Mugshot and it was
both our band's first tours, and then from then on
we all just became really good friends and just we
just kept touring together over and over, so I was
always there.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Yeah, yeah, it was.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
It was awesome, just homies, and then you become part
of the band, and now you're more homies exactly.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
How you're playing loud in life. Absolutely, Yeah, that's so cool.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
So you have a new album out and it's called
All the Devils Are Here. Tell me about that. How'd
you go about writing this? How did you what was
the mindset, headspace anything.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
So when we wrote the record, we went out to
Randy's studio, Randy Lebuff, incredible producer. He's worked with so
many of our favorite bands, so many bands that are
actually playing this fest, which is fucking awesome. We went
out there and we just you know, we had a
couple ideas here and there and stuff, but you know,
(02:56):
working with him and stuff to help us polish what
we were trying to do. And then yeah, just wrote
a badass record lyrics and stuff. We tackled a lot
of themes regarding just like the day to day challenges
of life and stuff, whether that's like your own personal
shit or you know, dealing with other people that are
(03:17):
you know, affecting you in some kind of negative way.
And that's basically just the mindset we were all in
at the time and stuff, and that's what helped us
produce that record.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Okay, so we like, great producer, great art work. Did
you do the art work?
Speaker 3 (03:29):
I did not.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
The artwork was done by Rotting Rain. He's an artist
from Canada. He is fucking phenomenal and I was a
huge fan of his for so long. And when we
were writing this record, and when we were like coming
up with like the general themes and stuff, I was like,
he has to do this artwork.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
And we hit him up and we got it.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
We got to put together and stuff, and I could
not be more happy with it.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
So it looks great, sounds great, got a lot of opportunities.
What's the difference of how you went into writing this
compared to the previous EPs kind of after you join.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Mugshawn, Yeah, I don't know. This time it just felt
a lot more uh, a lot more put together. We
were in a more like all right, like let's sit
down and let's put everything we have into this record.
As we're Previously, it was more just like, oh, we're
just jamming, like we're we're just gonna crank out some songs,
you know, write some music whatever. But this time it
(04:22):
felt more like serious, and it felt like we had
a lot more I guess, like on the line in
a way.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
And so we just went into it with a lot
more of like.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
A serious headspace than previously, and it paid off.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Yeah, I'd say, I'd say it paid off.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
What's the best part about touring and why?
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Honestly, I know it sounds cheesy, and I know this
is probably a safe answer for a lot of people,
but it's just meeting people and going to so many
different cities and scenes and venues and everything, and just
meeting all of the fucking awesome people there that are
like choosing to spend their night with you is so
fucking special to me, and I.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Like, that's what I fucking look for. Very well said there.
What's the most challenging part of touring and why?
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Sleeping?
Speaker 1 (05:10):
What is that?
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Exactly? Okay?
Speaker 2 (05:14):
I asked this to all my bands, and that are
who I'm talking to, what level experience they got there
a loud in life or not. If you had to
give advice to up and coming bands, whether it be
anything at all, what would it be.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
My biggest advice would be just to do it for
you and do it for fun, and do it because
you love it, and don't try to force anything. Don't
worry about the numbers, don't worry about all the bullshit
in the background. Just do it because you love it
and everything will fall into place.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Awesome.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
What can fans expect of Mugshot going into twenty twenty six.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
We have been writing, just you know, getting some ideas
out there and touring. We want to play more shows
next year than we did this year, which was a
fucking lot. Yeah, we just we just want to be
out there. We just want to keep doing what we
love and that's that's what you can expect.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Dream tour. Why, Oh, that's a hard one.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
You want to play shows? Who's it gonna be with
mud Vain?
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (06:17):
All right, that's that was like one of the bands
that got me into all of this, and I owe
so much of that band. They're one of my biggest inspirations.
And I think if I had to pick a band
to tour with tomorrow, it would be mud Vain.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Okay, I like asking that question because I'll tag that
band and maybe it's Map Maybe no shit.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Any final words you want to say to fans of Mugshow.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Thank you straight up, Like I know it's simple, but
thank you.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
None of this shit would be possible without the people
who support us and follow us, and you know, I'm
so grateful for everything.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Ringo mo Man, appreciate a little bit of your time.
This is Ringo from Mugshot to get that new album out.
They want to play more shows than that. Maybe they
play with mud Baine, Maybe they play song Temple inc
Lot in life again next year, who knows. Twenty twenty
six is right around the corner. And we appreciate watching
this and we'll see you next time.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Thank you,
