Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hey, guys, what's up.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's Kevin Gumbell Podcast here Louder in Life. It is
so hot, but that's okay because we got Jackson still good.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
How are you doing good? Thank you for having me Kevin?
Of course. Man. How's it feel to be Louder than Life? Dude?
It is amazing to be here.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
We love whenever we get to play any of the
Danny Wimmer festivals. Louder than Life in particular, though the
show today was great, the people are dope and it's just.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
A great time.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
So I need to know the transition from playing incarceration
parking lots to this huge ass fest.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yeah, so that's kind of how we got our name
out there, is just playing like those like random kind
of pop up shows in peculiar places and.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Sorry, yeah, that was kind of our first big.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Shot to like play that, and then like Danny like
threw us on one of the festivals a few years ago,
and since then we've kind of been like I think
we're in now, Like I think we keep getting at
the festivals and yeah, now we get tours and that's
kind of how it all started.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
But it feels great to not be in the street, right,
But you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
I mean the biggest difference of doing that to now,
you guys have changed, evolved, You've learned a lot with
these humble beginnings, and you're playing these festivals. You're still yourself,
You're still having fun. What do you guys want to
achieve in I guess post loud in life?

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah, I mean, we just want to keep growing each year,
keep getting bigger, keep getting bigger tours. The reason I
pursue music is one because it's like the most fun
thing ever and I get to like make other people happy.
I know that might sound like a corny answer, but
that's what I get out of it.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
And I also get out of it like kind of building.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
It's not a business, and that feels lame to say,
but building something in like one of the most hardest industries.
So like, I just want to keep going, keep getting bigger,
and yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Just like play dope music. Where do you see silly goose?
This sounds like a job a year from now, five
years from now. What's the biggest goal you want to.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Oh, we're gonna play Madison Square Garden in the headline
of course.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Yeah, yes, We're gonna be an arena.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Man, where you guys start outside in the parking lot
and then work your way in.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Totally.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Yeah, did that start as just a roll the dice
idea kind of?

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:16):
I mean it was just like I played a lot
of shows in Atlanta where we're from, so like me,
the other band's on the bill and the sound guy,
Like I played a lot of empty shows in my life,
and I was like, fuck this, like nobody gives.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
A shit about our band.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
And sorry, I don't know if I can curse Cam,
but I was like, why should they give a fuck
about our band?

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Like, let's go do something like different.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
And that's kind of how we got the idea.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
So from that, you have EPs OLT and you have
a new album coming out.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Yes, tell me about the new albums.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
So first I'll tell you the new EP is like
a lot of the music we made, like the Streets
started at first, and before that is music we made
in high school. That was kind of just like I'm
still super proud of it and I think it's awesome
for like where we were at.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
The Bad Behavior EP was.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Like a big jump up for us, and I feel
like this new record, Keys of the City is a
big jump up from that, just with every release we do.
I just want to get better and better. It's kind
of like the Silly Goose that people like know and
are familiar with, but just on steroids. There's a lot more.
There's heavy moments, there's still silly moments. There's angry moments
on the record. I scream, I sing, try and.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Do it all.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
How did you go about writing this album? What kind
of headspace were you in? What kind of mentality did
you go in?

Speaker 3 (03:31):
I mean the topics of the songs kind of vary throughout,
Like I was saying, like some of them are more
lighthearted and some of them more serious. There's no like
direct concept for the record. I kind of jump different
topics throughout. But in terms of how the songs come together,
it's kind of just like me Ian and Alan like
jamming and like we'll get the song put together for

(03:53):
the most part, and then I'll add the lyrics at
the end.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
So after this album comes out and you guys get
right from that's in Square Garden and all the other
Danny Women presents festivals for next year. Yes, what's a
dream tour for Silly Goose?

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Oh well, I feel like every band right now, like Turnstile,
would just be amazing. Joey valenceon Bray would be amazing.
That's for in the hip hop world. But I mean
that would be the coolest fucking thing because that's also
the I don't want to I mean, I love rock music.
That's the world we're in, and I love I'm friends
with a lot of the bands at this point, but
I don't want to just live in that world. I

(04:29):
want to do like everything.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
So yeah, it would be cool to like play with
some hip hop artists and some pop artists. Whoever.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Yeah, sorry, Turnstyle and Joey Vnce and Bray are my
two biggest, two biggest chos and awesome tour.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah, that'd be tell.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Let's make that happen, hey hack and everybody works tell them. Okay,
so everyone loves new music. What's your favorite track off
this album? And why my favorite track off the new record?

Speaker 3 (04:54):
There's three of them actually, and if you ask me
next week or even tomorrow, my answer might change. But Neighbors,
which is already out, That one's a fucking banger, and
then give me my money. That one should have been
a single and it's not out yet. And what was
the other one? I like, I'm really digging heart attack

(05:15):
right now. So when the record comes out, those are
some of the coolest ones.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Favorite song perform live? And why.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Off the new record or just anything in general? I
mean bad behavior just because everybody always goes crazy. I
guess that's like our biggest song Tsunami too. Sonami's just
like my favorite song we've ever made.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Oh so yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Fun As a vocalist, what's your warm up routine? What's
your pre show ritual?

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Well, I kind of just go out on stage and
try my best and hope that it works.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
That's the routine. Fair And how about you guys?

Speaker 2 (05:53):
I keep going back to it, but it's no, no, you're
all good to go from this to this?

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Thank you if you ever?

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Or how to give advice to a band just starting out,
what would it be? And why when the openers? Sorry,
I'm gonna sound like a dick.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
When you're on tour and the openers show up like
way too early, it's like really like if you're an
opener and a band like just kind of like be
super nice and be happy to be there, but then
don't show up too early because all the touring bands
are like trying to get stuff done and local openers
were happy to have you, but don't show up super
early that I'm gonna get in trouble where someone's gonna

(06:28):
get upset with me for that.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
But that's the first thing that came to my head.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Yeah, just be nice, don't be like Punishee, but don't
be scared to like shoot your shot and be somewhat persistent.
If I hadn't have been persistent or done things outside
of the box, it wouldn't have worked.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
So just do stuff outside of the box. I mean,
you gambled on yourself and it paid off totally. Yeah,
thanks awesome. Any funnel words for fans for sil Goose,
We love y'all.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Thank you so much to all the fans for supporting us.
I hope you guys like the new record. I think
it's like the dopest thing we've done. And yeah, thank
y'all for showing the love coming out to shows.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
We're gonna keep going Madison Square Garden with Turnstile and
who's the other one, Joey Allenson.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
We'll see you guys next time. Thank you, thank you,
