On this episode of The Kevin Powell Podcast, I’m joined by Jeremy DePoyster of The Devil Wears Prada, one of the most influential bands in the metalcore scene. We caught up backstage at Inkcarceration Festival 2025 to talk about their brand new single “Forlorn”, what fans can expect from their upcoming ninth LP, and how touring life is evolving — especially when you’re engaged to another rock vocalist (shoutout to Emma from Dying Wish!). Jeremy shares stories from the road, why Danny Wimmer Presents festivals set the gold standard, and gives advice to newer bands who want to get on stages like this. It’s honest, relaxed, and full of personality — just like Jeremy himself.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm going to see Drain right after this. I watched
the Beartooth guys every day. Those are like my best sties. Yeah,
just play golf yesterday. Okay, But Danny Wimmer is the
best festivals in America. I think we're writing some of
the best songs we've ever written.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Hey, what's up? This is Jeremy from The Devil, Worst Product.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
You're listening to the Kevin Powell Podcast. Check out our
new single for you? Here you guys, what's going on?
It's Vin pel here with the Kevin pell Podcast. I'm
here with Jeremy from the Devil. Was proud of Jeremy.
How's incarceration treating you so for? It's great? It's rainy,
but I don't care. I've played a lot of rainy

(00:36):
festivals in my life.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
You have. We're gonna get to that here in a minute.
So you guys have no all playdea right we have
not know we played a couple of hours. Yeah, so
you get the chance to see some bands. Who are
you excited to see?

Speaker 1 (00:48):
I'm going to see Drain right after this. I watched
the Bartooth guys every day. Those are like my best sties. Yeah,
knock loose really good buddies. We I'll be excited to
watch them. That's my main lineup right now.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Nice So with Bear Tooth, how the toar one amazing.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
I played golf with a couple of the guys, like
almost every day. We'll just play golf yesterday okay, But.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
It's just good vibes.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
I've known Caleb since he was like a teenager and
just love seeing his rise.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
And they're good people, and I love seeing good people.
When seeing Caleb as a teenager, I mean I remember
World Tour. It was fun, it was hot, it was sweaty.
But I want to know, you know, you guys played
Warp Tour however many times? Four times, yeah, every single
date and you got all those experiences. What differences have
you seen between like Warp Tour other festivals compared to

(01:39):
Danny Wimber presents festivals.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Danny Wimmer is the best festivals in America period, Like
no offense to other festivals, but we used to go
and play all these fests in Europe and infrastructure and
stuff for the bands, you know, I mean it's a
long day, like when you're out here and it's not
just the stage, just like the accommodations backstage and stuff.
It's like when you're away from home all the time,
it's nice to feel taken care of. And they do

(02:03):
a great job of that, and the vans love it
and the fests are massive, So I agree.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
And every band I've asked that question too, they're like,
this is this is it? The bar is so high
for anyone that wants to try to put their foot
in the ring, Like good luck. Yeah, honestly. So, we
got a new sing well right, yes, tell you about that,
Tell you about that. But we just put that song
out back in April.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
It's the second song off of what will be a
new record coming up later this year.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Is kind of a ballet, kind of a bop, but.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
It's kind of breakdown and and it's kind of just
a story of like being in love with someone that
doesn't love you back and kind of pathetically, sadly trying
to get their affection without them giving it back.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
To What was the difference going into this record compared
to records past. They're all different.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
This is my ninth LPAT that we've written, But the
biggest thing was just the time we took to craft
everything and make sure was right.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
We did the whole thing ourselves.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
And send it off to be mixed, and it's just
I think we're finally dialed into our songwriting arc right now.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
I think we're writing some of the best songs we've
ever written. So feel scared. Love to hear it. Who's
the mixing and mastering Zach s Gravini? Amazing? Okay, nice.
So with this being said, we got the new album
coming out. When's it coming out? I can't tell you that?
Is it? All right? This year? Next year? It'll be
this year? Okay, That's all I wanted to know, so
fans can get ready for that. Towards are in the works.

(03:33):
I'm guessing.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Yeah, That's all I do is play concerts, play golf,
and say on the phone talking about what I'm doing next.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
So with you guys being an Ink and you haven't
played yet, you've had countless shows, what's your pre show ritual?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I'll probably go to the bar here and down a
couple of couple cocktails and see where that takes me.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
But I don't know.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
We just kind of hang out together and try and
get the vibe up and like have good energy. Our
shows are pretty fun, Like we're not like a gloomy,
scary band.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
We're fun. So that's pretty much it. It's inviting for
the whole family. Yeah, exactly. So with that being said,
is well, are you well you're not here all weekend
because you got that to war? Yeah? Yeah, I'm a
busy boy. How about other festivals coming up? Can you
talk about any of those?

Speaker 1 (04:22):
So my fiance is going to be playing Louder than
Life and After Shocks, so I'm going to go to
those with her as well.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Tell me about that. She will be lowed look, oh sick. Yeah,
she sings in Dying Wish.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
So I'm just gonna ride along with them and be
paid emotional support husband, and then we will be We're
doing the Warp Tour in New Orlando and then we're
going to be gone off all in Europe with Eisnight Kills,
So that'll be sick.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
That'll be fun. Did you do any of the Warp
Tour this year? We haven't done.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
We're only doing the Orlando one, so we couldn't do
Long Beach because we're on this and I think DC
was when we're on this too.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
No is Orlando before a loud in Life. It is
after so it's like November. I'm pretty sure. All right. Eventually,
when I talk to you again in the future, I
will ask you how's war tour now compared with War
Tour past. I've heard it's dope, so I looked hard
to be in there. What's the pert experience? Yeah, I
will give you the one authentic truth. Okay, wonderful. Now,
last couple of questions for you. I ask every band does,

(05:19):
no matter who they are, what advice would you give
the bands? Or you're just starting out that maybe you
want to see either way to a festival like this,
any advice at all?

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yeah, work really really hard on your craft. Take it seriously.
Don't take anything else seriously. Like if you're meeting people,
just be nice. Like there's nothing more cringe than like
thinking things matter too much. The most important thing is
just get up on stage and have fun and make
sure that people are also having fun, you know, like
you're an entertainer. At the end of the day, it's

(05:50):
not about your experience. It's about the fans experience. So
whatever you're doing, just make sure the fans enjoy it.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
And speaking of bands, my last question was, do you
have any final words for I love all of my fans.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Sorry that I am such a psychopath on the internet,
but you know I keep it real with you, and
thank you for listening. We have a bunch of new
music coming, a lot of happy stuff, a lot of
catchy stuff.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
You're gonna love it. Jeremy, I appreciate a little bit
of your time today. I thank thank you very much,
thanks for having me. Yes, sir, that's Jeremy from the
Devil's Product. They got a new single, new album on
the way, and there's all kinds of stuff that's gonna
happen with these guys, so make sure you check them out,
and you get to check out Dying Wish at Louding
Life and all these other places after Shockey said so
thanks again for checking this out and we'll see you
next time. Hell yeah, brother, thank you very much.
