Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, guys, this is Vera from Violent Vera and you're
listening to the Kevin Powell podcast on iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
It's all guys, it's Kevin from the Kevin Pow podcast
Your Day two Loud in Life.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
I am here with Violent Vera and I.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Want you guys to go ahead, go down and lit
introduce yourselves and what you guys do in the band.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Yeah. Absolutely, I'm Vera, I'm the lead singer.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
I'm Anthony, and I play guitar.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
I'm not an unplay guitar.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
So how violent is Vera? No, I'm just kidding. So
you guys just get off the stage. What was it
like you hit the stage walking through was going through
your mind?

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Oh my gosh, so I had I shouldn't have done this,
but I drank a red Bull right before going on
stage and caffeine gives me like super anxcity. So I
was actually quite jittery for the first two songs. But
the crowd was absolutely amazing, I mean just seeing them
interacts and we even got a request for an encore
at the end, which was super unexpected and it made

(00:56):
our heart's hearts race so much.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Yes, nice, And what's it like post show.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
We're still jittery.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I think the adrenaline still hasn't worn off, but it's
just incredible.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
It's feeling like no other.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
I just want to do it forever and be able
to see all their faces, like for as long as
I can. Honestly, how do you guys feel about it?

Speaker 2 (01:18):
I mean I was super like excited and ready to
walk on stage, but like as soon as I got
up there, I looked up and like it was just
it was just you can't even see the faces, like really,
quart back. We're pretty new to festivals and stuff like that,
so it was just it feels like very like heartwarming
to see so much support and yeah, like we walked
off and immediately one more song and I was just like, oh, guys, like, hell, yeah,

(01:41):
did you do one more song?

Speaker 3 (01:42):
We wanted to so bad but constraints right, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah. So the thing with I like Danny Whom Presents.
They're probably one of, if not the best festivals. But
everything is a very well oiled machine. And that's a
good war bad thing. In case Ione wants an encore,
but that's okay. There's one hundred and seventy five plus
bands the whole four days that's wild. So that's okay.
You can give them an encore at a club show
or on your next tour or anything like that. Speaking

(02:07):
of what do you guys going going on? You got
any releases on a new tours coming off anything like that.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
So, actually, we just finished our debut album and it's
going to come out very very soon.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
We're very anxious for it.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
It's our baby, our first ever, and we've been touring
for promoting it. We just finished our first run and
we're gonna go on our second I think November third,
if I believe yes.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
And who we're playing with.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
We so we're trying to get this artist called Ivory.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
She's new in the scene. She's really incredible.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Her song Tower of Memories, it's currently charting.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
It's really really good.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Nice and hopefully for an opener our good friend Brayton wonderful.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
How about a dream tour of you guys you're playing
with whoever you want.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
And why my chemical Romance?

Speaker 2 (02:58):
That'd be fun.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Yeah, Like one of our biggest inspirations, definitely mine when
it comes to just everything in music. I've loved them
since they're I wasn't born yet, but I love them
from their very first album to the latest single that
they released.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
They're just the biggest inspiration for sure.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Now you guys are I mean, correct me if I'm wrong,
but a relatively newish band. Where are you guys from?
Tell me your origins?

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Yeah, so I'm originally from Boise, Idaho, and I moved
to Dallas, Texas because I heard that the rock scene
was pretty good over there, and luckily I found these
two in Dallas.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
So yeah, we're Dallas based.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Nice and you guys just kind of hung out and
you're like, I just try this music thing and then
you playing lot in life.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Look that.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Yeah, all it just kind of worked out.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
You know, it really has, which is surprising.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
You know. I think that it's very rare that you
click with, especially musicians that you've never met and kind
of try to see if you can make something together.
And I feel very very blessed unfortunate that I found
Anthony and Matt.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
We're just I'm so proud of our album.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Oh wonderful. So outside of music, outside this rock metal world,
what do you guys do in your free time?

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Man, we've been working so much, so not a lot,
but I used to or I still do but I
haven't lately. I really like to paint one of our
first merch pieces.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
I painted. It's really nice.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I don't know what do you guys like to do?

Speaker 2 (04:33):
My only hobby when I end up leaving is like
pretty much just like playing games and like hang out
with my girlfriend's anytime. Anytime I hear about video games,
like I asked the best video game of all time?
What is it? You get one answer, and that's a
the right one. He just stop at the top of
my head, like the legend of Zelda, like talk are
in that time, I was like an except the boy

(04:53):
on the sixth This interview can continue to have nick
but Sonic Adventure one or two is also the best answer.
Hey too, But you got it? All right? Cool? Hang
out with my girlfriend. We're playing Fortnite wonderful. All right,
So we got a couple of video game nerds. How
about any like collectibles anything fun like that?

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Oh my gosh. So this is kind of nerdy of me.
But I also am quite a big anime fan. So
I have a few figurines from one Piece, and I
also have a vocaloid figurine Hotsuna Mikuo.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
All right, Yes, I'll have to show you after interview
this collection I have of anime stuff and you're gonna go,
oh my god, please do all right, So you just
did Louder in Life. You got that album coming? Now,
what we got going on rest twenty twenty five, twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Six, just focusing around our album, honestly, especially because it's
our first. We were putting our whole soul and heart
into it and the rest of our time is dedicated
just to that. To Lover of a Ghost, Yeah, that's
pretty much.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
We're doing the album, I mean, the tour at the
end of the year, and like hopefully more right.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
After popping open some champagne once it's out, you know.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Okay. So I don't know how far into the process
you guys are, but if you wanted to or had
to decide on who you would like to have as
a collaborator on the album, why.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Yes, Image and Heap Absolutely. I fucking love Image and Heap.
She's just incredible and I love her sound. She inspired
one of my other favorite artists, Ariana Grande, quite a bit, so.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
I just scored her, all right. I ask a lot
of bands this question. I think every band is question
whether they'd be newer in the scene or legends or
people back here. If you had to give any a piece,
any advice to up and coming bands, what would it
be and why?

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Oh, that's a good question.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
I think it would be to respect each other for sure,
because there's gonna be times where things are gonna be
really tough, and at the end of the day, you know,
you just have to have mutual respect for you fail musicians,
because it just goes a long way. I think that
the way that you carry yourself can affect other people

(07:07):
and to just remember that we're all human at the
end of the day.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
I would say that, like one thing, I played in
a lot of bands and done a lot of other
projects in this and one thing that's really important is
like giving. If you're going to do this, you have
to do it and all the only good things that
will come out of it is the work and like
the time and effort that you put into it. And
then yeah, I'm making great friends who like treat you
well and like have the same amount of ambition to

(07:32):
do something like this, because that's I think what it
takes things. Yeah, work hard, trust your gut, and be
a good person. Very well said from all three of you.
We got a lot of different answers over the years,
and they're all good. So I also have musicians that
do watch this for aspiring musicians. So any advice is
really good advice. So thank you guys for sharing that.
I think I have two more questions. Let's see, it

(07:54):
was in the back of my mind. It was right there,
a lot of people, a lot of things. That's also
how I think this is on in the background, so
like that's also distracting me.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
This is sodio boy.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Okay, great, see I'm not involved. Oh okay, see now
I know what I'm thinking of. What was the rock
or metal album that got you into this world? Oh?

Speaker 3 (08:13):
That I love this question.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
It was actually asking Alexandria's From Death to Destiny. I
listened to it in seventh grade and absolutely changed.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
About second one or third one. I think it's their third.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
This interview is over. That's the worst one they ever
put it out.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Oh my goodness, get out of here.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
I like the second one more than the first one.
First one's legendary, valid. I can't disagree with that one.
It is it is. But see, that's not the one
that got me in right, So all.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Right, what's the best song off that?

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Then off that one killing you for sure?

Speaker 2 (08:47):
All right, I'll go with that one. Yeah, interview is
back on. We're good for you guys, honest, honest to goodness.
I would say the very first band that I ever
started like lashing on was Paramore. I would say, what
it's like, I played in like a Paramore cover band
for my first They're whoa thirteen or something like that,
and then I'd probably moved on to like bring Me

(09:09):
pretty pretty quick. To me. Once I went to work
tour in like twenty thirteen, twenty twelve, and I was
like blown away because it stuff eternal. It was like, yeah,
it's gotten huge, And did you see there's seventy dollars
long sleep that they have with them mersed Oh, I
don't know if I'm allowed, says, I don't know if
I'm right or wrong on this. So they have a
they have like a couple of Piece of meers right
now and they play on Sunday. They're probably gonna have
more if they don't. Wan's all right. It's very deathcore

(09:32):
and I'm like, well, we're looking at it. We're like,
is that borna short because like it looks identical. No,
it's bring Me the Rise, and but they have like
text right here and it almost looks like a new
album cover for a new album title. Now I if
I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. If I'm right, looks but anyways, right,
but we got one more down here. How about for
the band that got you into rocker metal or the
album Green Day? It's really what is one live? Oh?

Speaker 3 (09:55):
The album?

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Oh twenty first century breakdown? Okay, that's good man, nice yeah,
running me all right? Cool? Well, a lot of diversity here,
I guess I think. Last question is any final words
you guys want to say to fans.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
We love you so much and we can't wait for
you to listen to Lover of a Ghost. We're so so,
so so anxious in a good way.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Just thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Awesome. Well, guys,
you've been a pleasure I talk to you today. Also,
we're out of the sun. It's in the ac and
now bringing Mars is on. So it's a good end.
It's a nice fade away into the cut. Now, thanks
for checking this out, checking these guys out of album
coming out. They're going to war the world next year
and they're going to be awesome, so be on ready,

(10:37):
be ready for that, and we'll see you guys next time.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
