Speaker 1 (00:02):
I'm a homegirw that knows a little bit about everything
and everybody. You know, if you don't lie about that, right, Hey,
y'all's Laurena Rosa and this is the Latest with Lauren
Lo Rosa. Y'all know that this is the daily dig
on all things pop culture, entertainment, news, trending news. And
every time we talk about different things in the Latest,
it's always the conversations that shake their own But I
(00:24):
like to take y'all with me. I think that that
is a part of the journey when you talk about
the latest and the way that I've been able to
bring news and bring conversations most of the time, and
majority of the time it's because I'm there literally experiencing it,
and then I'm meeting people and being able to develop
sources and stuff like that from those experiences. Well, baby,
let me tell you the twenty twenty five BET Awards
(00:45):
were nothing different. I am currently in la I am
headed to get on my flight to fly back on
into the East coast and finally make it home. You know,
if you do a little behind the scenes of the
crying check inn grow, I am feeling very worked. Okay,
(01:06):
they work the heck out of me this weekend. Shout
out to BT, shout out to a five to one
breakfast club. Well, I was able to do a lot
of coverage there for the BET Awards from the media
room both Saturday and Sunday, and then Monday with the
actual awards. I did a pre show covered situation, which
(01:28):
is where basically you just talked to people before the show,
and then I was able to do a post show
situation with BT where I was backstage talking to performers
and hosts and writers of the show and producers and
all these things as people came off the stage.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Fun times, fun times. But if y'all can't hear it
in my voice, baby girls worked.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
I am tired, okay, But with me right now as
we get into the latest because BT and the BT
Awards is everywhere. I have my hairstylist, Maya. Maya is
by way of Philadelphia, but we got her out here
in La Say hi to the low riders, Maya.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Hey, low riders.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
She's so nervous. She's so nervous. But we are literally
in the car ring the black truck right now. I
headed to the airport, but y'all know I had to
make sure I got this episode in. But the reason
why I had my Yea on the podcast today is
because we ended up getting extra tickets last minute. I
was backstage during the cover shoa, I told you guys,
(02:31):
and then BT came to us and say, hey, I
had to work tickets for you.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
If you know, have your people don't want to come.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
So my manager and my Yea were able to come,
and they were actually able to sit in the awards show.
I was backstage all of the award shows, so my
experience was a lot different than her, so I just
wanted her to be able to chime in as well too.
A lot of the moments I couldn't even hear when
they were happening because I was either talking to somebody
or we just our screens. The audio wasn't up during
(02:56):
the during the moment like it was so from being backstage.
I'm gonna be honest with you. I always tell people
what award shows, I would rather watch it on television
than see it in person. This year, though, for the
BT Awards, I really wanted to see it in person
because I'm like, yo, these moments are gonna feel so
good if I feel so nostalgic. So my, yeah, how
(03:16):
would your experience like being in the audience.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
It was honestly like surreal.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
It's I don't even have the words to put like
to put it in, but to be in that room
and to experience the awards like in person, it was crazy.
This was probably one of the best awards shows that
BT has done. It was very like iconic. Jamie's Fox's
(03:42):
speech was like you could feel it in your heart,
like it was very very very like you know, it
was touching. It made me feel like, wow, you could
feel everything that he was talking about. But just to
even be in the actual room during the awards was
like crazy.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
It was.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
It was just surreal. You would you could literally.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Be sitting next to your favorite artists or you know,
your favorite actor.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Like it was.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
It was literally crazy. It was very very, very humbling
and exciting to just be there.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Well.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
I so even backstage, like I know, when certain things
were happening, like Jamie Fox, like me and the crew,
the BT crew that I was working with, we all
got choky, like tearing up, and I was like, yo,
Jamie Fox already made me cry one time when I
watched his special you know where he talks about his
recovery and his kids having to go through that with him,
(04:36):
and then on stage, like while you're there in person,
and you know these kids, their face is probable on
the screen backstage and they're cryding and one of his
you know, daughters, couldn't even hold back her tears.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
She was trying, but she couldn't even hold back her tears.
And then you got him on stage.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
And then like literally like literally minutes before that, you
have other talent backstage just talking about how iconic Jamie Fox.
As a matter of fact, I was interviewing Ti. That's
how crazy that moment was for me. I was interviewing
TI backstage just about him being a part of the
One on six and Park performance, and he had his
daughter ers with him, and I was talking to her,
(05:12):
and as me and him are talking just about how
I conna get it celebrating twenty five years of the
BT Awards and of One on six in Park and
you know all the things, Jamie Fox pops up on
the screen screen and t I had actually mentioned him like, yo,
I'm really looking forward to that. Everybody that I was
talking to backstage and before the show was like I'm
looking forward to the Icon Awards, Jamie Fox from right,
(05:35):
Carrey Snoop Dogg, Kirk Franklin, Jamie Fox pops up on
the screen and.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
I'm like, oh, he's on right now.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
We all just stopped just to listen, Like we all
literally just stopped just to listen to him. And it
was just like, man, like, I can't imagine the entertainment industry.
I don't know Jamie Fox personally, but I can't imagine
the entertainment industry without Jamie Fox. Like he is so talented,
he is so he's just always been a part of
our entertainment right And I'm feeling like that as a fan.
(06:06):
And I'm looking at his kids and they breaking out
crying because as dad. And then I was able to
talk to Pam and Gina, to Sheina Arnold and Tisha
Campbell and I'm talking to them. This is after Jamie
Fox had already grown off the stage, and we were
just talking about like legacy and the feeling of the
awards that night, because it just felt like it felt
like a family reunion.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
It felt like a hug.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
It felt so full, it felts right by excellence, but
it felt like we were just really making sure we
knew how important each other were that night, and they
talked about that like they were like, man, people know
Jamie because of what he's done in entertainment, rightfully so,
but to really know him and to know, you know,
to really know with him and to know everything they
(06:47):
he put through watching his children, they said the same thing,
like we were out there like tearing up, like it
was you know.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Like that moment was crazy. I know.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
On social media, a lot of people also felt like
this year awards, this this like the awards, this year
was one to BT's best.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Yes so good.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
So taking y'all to the to the streets, to the
tweets real quick as we talk about the BET Awards, to.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Be outside, we outside, we outside, okade every other page.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
I'm for a girl twenty two said, listen, I hope
the younger ones understand millennials. Our face had talent, and
she put talent in all caps. Our songs had hooks
and bridges, and we have choreography. Do you see them
right now tearing this stage up? And I mean from
the one O six like the one O six in
part tribute with beach getting in bow?
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Wow? Did such it? Everybody did amazing.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
We took here bow everybody that hit the saved for
the one of six part tribute in the whole night
in general. But I was watching Bow Wow and I
was like, yo, he is such a superstar, Like he
is such a performer and even his energy. He came
back to stage just about two and I was able
to speak to him after he got our stage for
and his energy was still high.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
It was like a kid in a candy store.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
He was just so happy and he was so like
he was showing me his uh he had on overalls
that was branded out mister one O six and one
O six in park And I'm like, man, like, I
like this time of entertainment.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
I missed that.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
I feel like we've gotten so into the like clickbait
and the artists you know, and there's no shade to
the six tack artist and an artists. I don't jump
around the stage, you don't know the choreography. But it
made me remember my first time going to a concert,
which was a screen tour, and being a real fan
of people of music. And then the surreal moment to
beat them backstage was by why having this conversation and
(08:38):
him talking about you know. He told me that he
didn't even he doesn't choose, you know, all the song
choices for that performance. Bat he does give him like,
you know, you're a song we want to see you do.
But he did know definitely like okay, there's certain songs
I can't not do.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
I don't know. It was just surreal. I think a
lot of people, uh.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Said, since saw that Wednesday Adams on Twitter's whether they
add or the score MS said, whoever they have on
team of producers for this year's show did a great job,
Please keep them. The dress code was classy, the agenda
was followed, the sets were designed, the budget wasn't placed.
The sponsors checked in, and the guests came out. That
(09:19):
was another thing.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
I said.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
You talked about just being in the room and getting
see all those people, right, yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
So many people show up literally walk past, like on
my way in.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
I was like, oh my god, like everybody everybody was there.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Everybody showed up like insanely, like Mariah Carey looked amazing.
I saw Tyler Perry backstage and I was like, I
was like, oh shoot, it's Tyler Perry. Like so many
people showed up and showed out and Tyler Perry had
a great moment on stage where he talked about the
erasure of black creativity and black storytelling and all those things,
(09:55):
and it made me think just about the awards in
the p like when people have all of these like
legendary source of War stories and even the BT Awards stories,
I'm like, we need to bring back the fact the
feeling of like people feel like it's my duty to
show up. Because what he was saying was so true,
(10:16):
but that feeling that I had yesterday the awarded back
to the agent on a carpet, or the excitement and
men excite to dress up and all that, I'm like, this,
yere is like, this is like the reset the entertainers need.
You deal with so much right, Like there's the news
and the media and everything's public, dealing with family and
friends like this, all that stuff. Sometimes you just need
(10:36):
to show up, look good and have a good time.
And people did that yesterday and a really great time
out to add like we had toarajp Hinton on stage
with Tianna Taylor delivering monologue, Kevin Hart as the host.
I don't care what nobody said, kevinl I was funny
as hell.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Last night.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
He was he was funny as hell last night, and
the audience was reacting to it. Well. I don't know
if it looked like that on television to you guys
low Riders, but in person, the people were laughing, Like
the people.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Was laughing at the jokes, like good one. And he
bought Drew Ski and caysident. Yep, it was good too.
I think that was fired. That was definitely fire.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
I actually I saw Drew Ski backstage, but I met
Drewski when he came to Breakfast Club. But I actually
wanted to meet Custina, like I am. I'm so proud
of him, like he's my little brother or.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Something like that. Yeah, really good, So fired.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
The Raven Report says, say what you want about Sean
mass but bow Wow is a legend.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
I said what I said, yes, stamped one hundred percent.
Jamie Fox actually says something that was super powerful. He said, like,
sometimes like we we idolized like the Oscars, and we
make it like the biggest award show, but this is
really the biggest a war show because it's us and
it's from our people. Gus, Like, I thought that was
(11:50):
very special for him to say, because that's true. Like
it hit different. It comes from your people, you know,
so different.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Yesterday felt so fire, but it was so black. It
was crazy like and I was on that that pre carpet.
We was outside for a good like three hours and
I was super tired when I got inside. But then
once the word started and like you felt, the energy
and the energy of the artists helped me because I
was tired, but the artist has so much energy. All
weekend we went to the the one O six and
(12:19):
Park Day party. So Terrence, Jay and Roxy at the
day party shout out to shout out to Big Bro
and Miixes that we got there. We had a good
time to make sure we were taking care of We
had some drinks. We had, we had, we had a time.
But yeah, but they were celebrating just you know, the
institution of Well six and Park.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
And all the things they've done. It just felt good
all week It was really like you, I feeling like
you said.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
We was with our cousins and our aunties and our
uncle one hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
So make sure you guys go check out all of
my content I'll be posting on I do want to
have some of the bet content for you guys. But
I don't know if I'll be able to post it
here because they do own that content, but I know
it will be on social media.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
So it makes you everywhere at La Rosa.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
All week and long, you know, people that listen to
the podcast, people that don't. Everybody was like all right,
but when you're going back to court, thosis like we need.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
And they were giving you your flowers heavy. I have
to say that, like everybody that you ran into like
gave you your flowers like heavily. Everybody was telling you
how proud of you they was, and that would have
just like, yeah, that is decent, that was a good funds.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Well, ain't it be crazy too because some of the
people it comes from, I'll be like, oh my god,
Like the fact that you even know who I am
is like insane to me because again I'm still I'm
just such a fan of all of this stuff still,
but I am when I you know, we're headed back
into court this week, guys, so we will be bringing
you guys those updates here today in court. Literally as
(13:49):
we are speaking right now, Jane Doe is rapping her testimony.
You know, they do the crossings Emine direct of number one,
Jane don't revealed that you know Diddy. She's literally still
working with the lawyer that Diddy got her. When the
government first approached her about the indictment, she mentioned that
(14:11):
did he you know, even as paying her rent up
until very recently? And people want to know, how is
all this possible when she's understand testifying as the government's witness, Like,
how is that possible?
Speaker 2 (14:22):
She also talks.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
About being with Diddy the date of the Cassie beating
video dropped, and she talked about how his team was
like scrambling to come up with like a plan of
him apologizing and all these things. She also alleges that
you know, they got into you know, altercations themselves and
a ton of different things. I want to really take
the time to get into it, but as y'all can see,
(14:44):
BET has taken over my life. I'm about to get
on this plane and is a rap for the BET
Awards twenty twenty five. Okay, so make sure you guys
tune into our upcoming episodes because those things I just
mentioned I will be getting into in more detail actually
to be starting tomorrow and then I'll let.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
You guys know.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
You know, as the week goes on what's actually happening
in real time, But I do want to come back
and have a conversation about those things because we haven't
been able to get into it.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
I want to make some phone calls and just.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Figure out legally how and why all of this is
possible myself, because john' know, not an attorney.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
I'm just in the court watching what's going on and
coming back and telling you guys. So I appreciate you
guys for tuning in.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
As always, at the end of the day, there is
always a lot to talk about, but every single time
Low Riders, y'all.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Are right here with me to talk about it. I
appreciate you, guys. I will see you guys in my
next episode.
