Speaker 1 (00:04):
We're at it again. Welcome to another meeting of the
London Club Council. Now representing Tottenham Hotspit in this corner
we do have Brett Blakemore and repping Arsenal is Robbie Rosenhause.
So boys, let the banter begin.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Welcome into another edition of the London Club Council. I
am Brett blake More, representing Tottenham Hotspur. Across from me
is Robbie Rosehouse who is representing that club that goes
by the name of the Arsenal. We got a lot
to cover this week, a lot of ground, a lot
of positivity for me, maybe not so much for you.
But that is the main event. We talked about it

(00:43):
last week. First of all, Robbie, how are you.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
I'm doing okay, Brett. I was a little enraged after
Sunday's result. Yeah, which we'll get into a little bit
later in the podcast, but.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
We're going to get into it right now.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Oh well, we all we're going to start off with
the Arsenal.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Okay, Well, because that to me, like I said, it's
the main event and it was the most controversial we said.
At least I said, I thought this was gonna be
very boring nil nil, defensive, and it was on track
for about nine minutes. Holland busted open. Then it forces

(01:19):
Arsenal to to open up a little bit. They get
an unbelievable goal from Calfiori at one of the best
finishes I've ever seen. But then the red card. So
walk me through kind of because I thought, I thought
our title was a little defensive and I was gonna
rip him. I'm not gonna rip them for parking the
bus in the second half because and I get it
was a great performance, a great defensive stand. I get

(01:41):
all that Man City are great and they defended him.
You know what, It's not my favorite, but I I'm
not gonna fight it because I understand that we're on
an island here. But walk me through kind of your
experience walking watching that game. The highs, the lows because
it was low, then it was really it was high,
really high, and then ultimately back down to the love.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Yeah, so just the obviously we'll take it from the
from the two to one lead and the red card
because that is where the flash point occurs. I think
everything before that I expected, I expected goals. I know
you and others had thought that it was going to
be a park the bus on both sides and we

(02:23):
were going to get a boring game. I thought it
would be a little more open than that. I didn't
know if we'd get three goals in the first half
hour to forty minutes, but I did think that we'd
get three goals for the whole game. Be that as
it may. The game took a turn when Tressard got
the second yellow for kicking the ball away, which is

(02:43):
the second time and Arsenal players had this happen to them,
including Declan Rice a few weeks ago. It is the
letter of the law, and people can moan and grow
on all they want, but just frankly, don't do it.
And I know in the heat of the moment that
you're not thinking about that, but the bottom line is
you don't get that. Never run. Well, I was okay,

(03:07):
but I just think that that's where the game turned.
And I think when, like you said, when they parked
the bus in the second half, they had to. If
they would have went for it and been exposed and
lost the game, then everybody would have been jumping down
our tetests throat saying well, why didn't you put ten
men behind the ball? And this and that. So the

(03:27):
beauty of kind of how they're constructed is that they
were built to do that, and they did that until
the very final seconds. So if they would have scored,
and again it's all about timing, and if they would
have scored ten minutes earlier, it wouldn't have hurt as much.
Maybe it would have as I would have had to
sit through another ten minutes of sitting back and defending
perhaps three points going their way and Arsenal leaving the

(03:51):
empty had with none. But it's a solid point on
the road at a place that you haven't won in
ten years, and putting the circumstances aside, ten men, Arsenal
getting a point at the Etty had surviving for a half.
If you just look at that headline and ignore everything else,

(04:12):
I can't say that I can sit here unhappy at
this point. The most aggravating thing about the entire ordeal
was that Manchester City and some of their players came
out afterwards and were basically kind of criticizing Arsenal for
some of their tactics and just the way they played

(04:34):
the second half and coming to the Emirates and excuse me,
coming to the Etty had and playing for draw. Last
year they mowed and groaned about it and.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Which they definitely did right. They did undeniable without a
shadow of a doubt.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Last year they came in and sat and sat in
the for the entire match. There's no doubt about it.
They wanted to get out of there with a draw.
They did not want to be told to stay alive.
They wanted to stay with and they and they did.
They do their job. They did they they did with
the best defensive record in the league last year. They said,
we're going to play, We're gonna play to our strengths,

(05:08):
and this is what we do. And I haven't seen
an Arsenal team like this with a backbone. I went
through an arrow where they were letting in two, three,
four goals a game where they had center backs like
David Luiz who were past their prime, or Mustafi who
was very error prone, to Koshelney who left the club

(05:29):
and went to France and basically spit on the badge
on his way out. So they went through a lot
of center backs and just like defenseman in the NFL,
and just like quarter excuse me, NHL, just like quarterbacks
in the NFL. You know, it takes a while to
really find that stalwart guy that you can plug in
there for five to ten years. And right now our

(05:53):
Minnesota Wild have that with Rock Faber, and hopefully Arsenal
have that with their center back pair with and Gabriel.
I don't want to talk about the Wild right now, yeah,
Wells especially, Yeah, we're not going to bring that up.
But what we will bring up is the wild scene
that took up at the Etsy had because at the
end of the match it looked like it looked like

(06:14):
there was a lot going on, a lot of pushing
and shoving.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
And do you think Holland is more unlikable now than
he was? At least I'm sure in your eyes it
is because I found the throwing the bault kind of humorous.
Now do I have my lily white glasses on for that? Absolutely?
But then like even after, like he was talking smack
to everybody and like I'm here for the the bleep

(06:39):
housery to an extent, but it really seemed like he
lost his lost as cool. For lack of a cooler word,
I don't know, what do you what do you think
about the whole Holland's.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Behavior. I think it's just more in the spotlight because
he is, you know, the best goal scorer in the world.
So when he's doing it, it's like, okay, like people
are taking notice and he's he's viewed as sort of
a bully, you know, and there and their team is
sort of viewed as bullying people, and they just expect

(07:14):
teams like Arsenal to come to the Emerton bend the knee,
and that is not the case. I've been there plenty
of times when Arsenal have gone up there and they've
gone down one or two by the half, and I
knew it was over now if they go down, I
just like they did I have. They came, they came
back and scored two goals.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
So I cannot believe that they I'll be on I
was stunned that they the fact.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
That they turned it around right, just because they gave
up a goal to what eight minutes in ten minutes
in whatever it was, and then all of a sudden,
two goals in the span of like twenty minutes to
a half hour and it's two to one, and you're like,
wait a second, this is city. They're on the road,
like what yeah, And then the red car changed everything
and then they sat in. So it was a rollercoaster
of emotions as as I've been experiencing lately with this

(08:02):
football club and otherwise. And I just think that it's
a good point and coming out of it now with
a couple of softer matchups, you would think with Lester
and Southampton coming up, you would think that they'd be
able to put six points in the bank and keep
pace with City, who played in the Cup as do

(08:23):
Arsenal later today as we tape on Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Yeah, so we'll get into that. Yeah, if you don't
look at anything else, if you just if you, if
you said before the match you get a point out
of it. Obviously you take that against City and just
stay alive in the title race and take points off
of City more so than earned for you. But the
fact that the game was right in your hands, I

(08:46):
just thought I was surprised that you guys got back
into it because of Holland scoring so early. I thought
that would force you guys to open up more and
not sit back like maybe Arteta would want. We'll never know,
because it was only nine minutes in hard to really
judge tactics were nine minutes into the game, but I
thought I would open you up more, therefore create more
chances for Holland and City going the other way. Did

(09:08):
not turn out that way. So yeah, if you ignore
everything and put on the horse blinders, sure, but I
mean I feel like the game was right right there
for the taking and then the trestard kicking the ball
away second time. You get stung with that. They're trying
to it's like the not to bring more American sports
in it, but it's like the illegal formation in the NFL.

(09:28):
You know, they're trying to crack down on it. They're
making a point to card those this year. So yeah,
it's and watching the group chat will not be posted
as to what your reaction, but let's just say the
other council members enjoyed it very much your reaction because

(09:48):
it was just classic Robbie. You were upset and I
get upset too, but yeah, yeah, but it was Robby.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
As Michael Cole it say, you fly off the handle,
I fly off the map. Yeah, correct, right, that's a
pretty that's astute accurate observation, self observation by me.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Yeah, I agree. So anyways, wrapping up on that title
race still in full because no one really made it
any progress or lost any progress. Anyways, So moving on,
which is kind of what we expected. We got to
the result we expected, just not in the way we
thought we would get there. So and as a main event.
Last thing I'll say about this as a main event.
The one complaint I had was that it wouldn't be

(10:30):
entertaining enough. It should be this marquee entertaining game, and
in years past it hasn't been. It's been boring. At
least we got that back, is that it felt like
a main event, especially after the equalizer late, and.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
It really felt like the two teams were all in
Oh yeah. I mean, you know you saw at the end,
and I hate to bring this point up, but you
saw how spent Arsenal was when they gave up that
goal to Johnstones. I mean, they had sat in and
defended so well for forty five minutes plus and just
to I mean, they were anticipating going three for City.

(11:05):
They were anticipating going over and celebrating with the away
fans in one of the greatest victories I have seen
from this club in probably fifteen years or so. Maybe
since they beat Barcelona at home, that would have I
think equaled it. I mean I've seen some other ones.

(11:27):
They went to Liverpool in one, but again that was
they were the defending champs and that's great. But that
match against Barcelona and Barcelona were the top club in
the world. They when they beat them to one and
they went down one nothing and came back and scored
two in the second half, that would be an equivalent
feeling to this, although that was in the Champions League,
but this would have felt like winning the title. Because

(11:50):
it's a six pointer and now it's a stalemate. Nobody gains,
nobody loses. We just move on. And we just crossed
that game off the schedule.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Pretty much, so we did get the main event feelback.
But as far as like drama and progress quote unquote
to find out who's going to win the title, obviously
it's early, it's still September, but no progress game or
loss for the top two clubs. Let's go on to
my squad here, much needed, much needed win against Brentford

(12:20):
at home. I looked like it was going to be
maybe one of those games. Twenty two seconds in. I
still don't know how to pronounce his name correctly. Mvuemo.
I believe I don't. I still screw it. Up scores
an absolute worldly. I mean, I get Mickey mant van
Deven could have closed him down a little earlier, but
I mean you can't.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
As I texted you as the goal win in that,
as I texted you as the goal win in, I said, wow,
I said, nothing you can do. There was the goalkeeper.
You cannot blame the keeper. Sometimes, just like another American
sports reference, sometimes there's the perfect pass, the perfect shot
in hockey, the perfect just anything, perfect golf shot. There's

(13:03):
just something that you just can't defend. And that was
on the volley. Anytime something to hit on the volley,
you know it's it's gonna be hit with a lot
of force and propulsion. And that found the top corner
of the net and they were down one nil, and
it was it was not good scenes for Triple B.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Yeah for about seven minutes and yeah, until Spurs get
right back into the game. I mean they just kept
going like it didn't even matter that you know, and
after the game basically said this is exactly the team
that we want to be and this is a blueprint
of I mean, they were pressing all the almost all
the goals were made from pressing, except for the third

(13:45):
if I really had to complain, it'd be that they
left it until the eighty fifth minute to make it
three one. But I mean the chances were there, the
pressing was great.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Go ahead. I have a question for you a flash
point in the game. I don't exactly remember what minute
it was, but you'll have to you'll have to correct
me here, I know. Yeah, So to me, it seemed
like Vicario handled the ball outside the box and they
went to var and they ruled play on. So did

(14:15):
you just stand there and kind of shrug your shoulders
and we got away with one or did you see
anything else in that play where you saw a justification
for that not being an indirect free kick?

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Right right?

Speaker 3 (14:28):
It wouldn't have been a penalty, as you know, it
would have been an indirect free kick outside the box. Well,
that's to which they could have I mean, I think
the score was two one at that time.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Yeah, I mean it was two one. It's a pretty
low percentage it is free kicked. It is it.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Is, especially with a huge wall. Yep.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
I think that's the main thing, and it's been said,
you know before, but when it happened, everyone was like,
that's a straight red, you know, what he touches it
outside the outside the box, that's a straight red. It's
going to be a penalty and word down a man
and it's going to be tied.

Speaker 5 (14:56):
Right.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
You probably said, oh no, this is going to be
a disaster, but it.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Would have been because it wasn't a denial of an
obvious goal scoring opportunity. There's defenders behind him. I don't
know what Viccario was thinking at that point. I don't
think either, which, by the way, he had some amazing
he did. He did, but he's really good again.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
Yeah, and he's allowed to make a bad decision, which
he did on that play, obviously going for it.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
So it would have been a free kick, and and
credit to Thomas Frank who basically said, like, yeah, it
would have been a free kick. Didn't cost us the game.
They missed it, but didn't affect anything basically, So he
took the high road. He could have went all scorch
drift on var and blah blah blah.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
Was it a foul in the box that they missed
and that would have been a penalty, and then obviously
that would have made it to too and that would
have obviously changed the kind of storyline of the game,
but it didn't.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Yeah, this to me is like a and I get
it's Brentford and I and if this were you know,
if this were Chelsea or Arsenal, I'd probably say, oh,
it's just Brentford, you know who cares. But it was
just that we felt like out of and I say
we soon me. I feel connected to the club, so
I say we get mad at me if you.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Want no Breat's practicing is French? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Correct?

Speaker 6 (16:07):
We uh.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
So four out of the five games, Coventry was just terrible.
There was an awful performance, but the other four games
we felt like the performance was good. The Arsenal performance
could have been better, but like Newcastle, we felt like
we were the better team. Lester, we felt like we
were the better team and we just weren't getting the
results for that. This it felt like we were finally

(16:31):
getting rewarded, and especially with the pressing, especially I mean
Selanky gets off the mark just the goal. The third
goal was a hard sliding challenge from Basuma, who already
was on a yellow who then gets it out to Romero,
who plays a great pass through ball to Sonny who's
in free, who then lays it off to Madison who

(16:53):
chips it in in like a ten second span. I mean,
it was gorgeous to finish that game off it. I
just believe in this product, in this way of play
so much. And this is truly you know, I went
on the whole soapbox in the group chat, but this
is the DNA of Spurs is playing attacking football regardless

(17:15):
of anything. I do have a little bit of audio
because Spurs did the fan Q and a Robi. You
probably already heard this, but I just I would run
through a wall through for Ange in the way that
he plays, and to me he perfect is the perfect
Spurs manager, winner lose.

Speaker 7 (17:32):
It was mentioned already when I came here twelve months
ago and Daniel said, you know, the first words that
came out of his mouth was that we go to
a club back that was I didn't want anything by then,
certainly was It's really important to this club the way
it plaies.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
It's football.

Speaker 7 (17:49):
And as much as we crive success and we want success,
we want to win things, no one greater than me.
What comes first is the way we play and I'm
not going to deviate from that. So that means it's
not going to be an easy rope, and that means
along the way that we're going to get tested and
we're going to get questioned. But when success comes to

(18:10):
this football club, and it will come, it'll be glorious
because it'll be exactly the way the club wants it.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
I mean, I could run through a brook wall right now.
I could run through any amount of walls. I just
love the way that we play. And yeah, it comes
with this downsides, It comes with the chances. They left
that game until the very end. It could have been
they could have equalized Brentford with not for a couple
of good saves from Macario. But that's the way we
want to play. We want to play with flair, you know,

(18:37):
to dares to do all that talkma I wasn't going
to play that audio because I thought it was a
little long. But then I was listening to the press
conference today for Europa League Robbie and they had reporters
from Azerbaijan and elsewhere and they asked answer this question.
I just couldn't believe that I heard this. Listen to

(18:59):
this English.

Speaker 6 (19:00):
Press or repost that Tottenham will play attacking football towards Garaba.
Is that true? Or will you bopt in for more
coutious approach?

Speaker 2 (19:07):
What what what like day one of research on if
you just do any monicum of research about and so
just listen to his response.

Speaker 6 (19:16):
English Press or repost that Tottenham will play attacking football
towards Garaba? Is that true or will you b opt
in for more courtious approach?

Speaker 7 (19:24):
Well, English never believe English Press.

Speaker 6 (19:29):
Mistake. We'll just play air.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Football, as simple as that. So I just think I
completely agree with and love everything about this and it
it's so weird, how like after that win, it just
felt like the birds were chirping again, the sun was out,
rainbows were across the sky. It just everything finally felt

(19:52):
like it was back to normal. And then naturally, when
we lose at Old Trafford uh at the weekend, then
it'll be back to do Minglo. So that's it for
my rant for Spurs. I thought it was a brilliant game.
I thought it was exactly the way we wanted to play,
And yeah, I was, I was very I don't know
your your thoughts on the game, but I could not
have been more happy without any of it turned out.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
No, I think I think you're right in terms of
the overall look for uh Spurs, the results weren't coming early,
and now it looks like that they're starting to come.
Aside from the Arsenal match, which I again you expected
them to win, I expected them to lose, and and
again that's probably performance putting. Yeah, I do not think. Yeah,

(20:37):
I think that they played significantly better in last year's
home fixture against Arsenal than they did in this year's
home fixture against Arsenal. Be that as it may. I
still see a lot of teams around them, including one
that we'll get to in a couple of minutes here
that maybe that's where we're going at, just a step
or two ahead of them, perhaps not only in the table,

(20:59):
but just in the in progression to getting back to
that top four, and that's Chelsea. And but for Tottenham,
I like what I've seen. For sure. They created a
lot of chances. So when I was sitting there and
watching the Brentford game when they went down one nil,
I said, okay, I said they could have collied. No, no, no,

(21:22):
I didn't. I didn't think that at all. I did not.
I know, I didn't think that at all. I thought, Okay,
the goal didn't go in in the thirty eighth minute
and they have to stew for seven minutes, get to
the half and it's like shoot, like we put a
half hour, we didn't do anything, then we got scored on,
and now we got to go to halftime like you
still had ninety minutes to go. I was very, very

(21:45):
confident that they were going to at least get one
goal there and maybe two and knock and see. I
thought the worst, perhaps it would be too too Like
I thought you were scoring goals. I did not think
it was going to be first of all, your home.
Second of all, you've scored goals in the games, in
the games prior to that, other than the Arsenal game.
But just the way that you play against a lesser

(22:08):
side you're expected to aside from them being a bogie
team perhaps in the past on once or twice with
Neil Mope that you know, upstanding, out upstanding citizen. Yeah,
I just think that that they're in a decent place
right now. They just need to keep churning out results,
stay alive in these competitions and see where the chips

(22:30):
fall in the league. As I told you, I would
not have the top four as some sort of like
some sort of I just don't think it's realistic. I
know you think it's realistic this year. I just don't
see it with the just the other clubs around them. Now.
I may be dead wrong on Man United, and that's

(22:51):
fine and and so far, and so far I certainly am,
but just looking at Liverpool and City and Chelsea and
maybe Newcastle and obviously Arsenal and who knows with United
and listen, I'm not saying I'm not saying that they're
that they're all of a sudden gonna go into a tailspin.

(23:11):
You sent some stats yesterday that that proved me right,
that what I saw last week was was what I thought,
and that okay, once they got out of the Arsenal
kind of vice, defensive vice that they put them in
because they weren't good enough to break them down. Like, okay,
Arsenal sat back after they went up, like break us down,
you couldn't do it, And.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
Well you sat back the whole time.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
Well after they went ahead, well with the Gabriel right,
and then the Gabriel goal and right, and then after
that then they definitely didn't.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Sit back the whole time. Is in like you parked
the bus, but you definitely weren't pressing, and you definitely were.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
That was absolutely but yeah, without shadows of doubt.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
If you're wondering the average possession, Spurs rank first in
the prem crosses, first passes into the penalty area, first
shots on target, first touches in the final third, first,
I mean, the it is just that the fan is
you have to put the ball in the net to
score goals, right, But Spurs are doing everything well to

(24:05):
get to that point, and in this game they're actually
more clinical. The other thing I wanted to mention because
I forgot to mention it last week and it pissed
me off. I just remember to mention that this is
Brendan Johnson and all the stuff that he had to
go through with with the online abuse and and I've
been saying on the show for weeks that I love
Brent Johnson. I don't get all the hate that he gets,

(24:25):
but the abuse and the you know, DM ing him amininity.
You know the word I'm trying.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
To say, anonymous, Well, yes, but you're in anonymity, yes.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
You know, hiding behind a keyboard to another human being
telling how bad he is. And and I'm sure a
whole bunch of awful stuff I don't even want to
think about. And it shows the difference between the match
going fans and it's it's a stop me. You've heard
this sports. It's a vocal minority, right.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
You know.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
All these idiots that are dming him aren't not Spurs fans,
you know, like all Spurs fans hate him. You know,
it's it's these dill rods that are the are dming him.
And it showed, you know, even before he scored the
second goal, which was an amazing shot, got a big
roar when they were announcing the team lineups. But then

(25:18):
when he scored, he got there's only one Brennan Johnson.
One Brennan Johnson. There's only one Brendan. Not the best
chance in the world. We could send that to rewrite.
But the fact that they were doing it, I just loved.
And I hate I hate that we get, you know,
tossed in with all these you know, online trolls that

(25:40):
just sit in their basements all day and and dm
professional footballers because they have nothing better to do, and
all a Spurs fans suddenly get thrown to that. I
just think it's bs. But anyway, so good on Brendan Johnson.
We love him. I've been a long time Brendan Johnson supporter,
so yeah, I love the game. I thought it was
great and we move on. We'll talk more about Spurs
a little bit. But you mentioned them Chelsea three nil

(26:03):
winners against west Ham. I thought that west Ham put
up a little bit of a fight to London Derby,
you know, and I understand that they're they're not very good,
and I understand the new manager has not gotten off
to a great start, but you would think at home
they'd get up for it a little bit and they
just looked dead.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
To me, No, they were terrible, Brett. It was that
I watched a bunch of that game and Chelsea were
much the best. I mean, they came out of the half,
scored a goal right after half and that basically put
the game away at three nail. They were like twaying
with Yeah, they really were. They had a bunch more
chances it could have been four or five. And Chelsea
really are on the upswing. Now we talked about their
bloated squad. It seems like that they're kind of coming

(26:44):
into focus as to who they want to play in
the in their first choice eleven and then you look
at their second choice eleven and that's who went out
yesterday and beat Burrow five nil with in Kunku who
again came with yeah it came over. Was hurt now
scoring goals for Chelsea, and I wouldn't be surprised to
see Chelsea win a Cup this year with their squad

(27:05):
because they have depth, and they certainly have quality depth.
It's sad, sad, but true. So that's that's where I
see Chelsea right now. I think that they're in a
good spot. And in about a month's time they'll take
on Arsenal, about two weeks before that they'll take on
Liverpool's just a couple of interesting matches for them. And
they also play in Europe coming up next week against Gink.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
You know what's a really good cure for having an
over a bloated squad and overloaded squad just straight up
telling people to go after themselves. And that's basically what
and so has done. He is chillwell, thanks for your service,
get the hell out of my sa house. Yeah, oh
here you go, Well see you later, see you later.
He's just basically exiling people that he doesn't want and

(27:52):
I part of me respects it, and part of me
is like, well, you know, these guys have you know,
been there for so long. But it's worth what he's
doing is working. It's obvious. They're much more organized than
they were under Potch. They're much more organized than they
were the year before Grand Potter. Sanchez still stinks. He's
not good. I don't care that he had an eight

(28:13):
point eight rating on Football. Don't care. He is garbage
and I think a lot of people would tell you
that too. He's just he's just in. He's got a
mistake in him every game, you know what I mean.
I'm just waiting. Especially you know, if you recall when
Arsenal went to the bridge, he had a mistake in
him there. I believe that was the Declan Rice like

(28:35):
from from halfway goal. So correct.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
Yeah, So.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
But it sucks and like shaking my head the fact
that they've managed to turn it around so fast and football,
you know, football is a weird game. Maybe you know
it falls apart as fast as it was put together.
But it just doesn't look like it as much as
I want it to. Cole Palmer's really good. The fan
has learned. Nico Jackson really good. Hat trick too against

(29:03):
the Burrow Borrow. Who cares they it's it just Barrow.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
It just sucks. It sucks.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
The fact that Chelsea are kind of good again, it
sucks and I hate it. And I feel like I
feel like you're not as devastated as I am that
they're they're back to being good.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
No, because I always knew that this was going to
be the case. With with with unlimited pockets and a
club that seems seems to have the academy system working well.
Uh in several parts of the world. They've done a
good job of kind of procuring young talent.

Speaker 7 (29:43):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
And now they've gone on and and augmented that with
some some big time signings. And that's where Chelsea are
right now. They're they're a good football club and it's
it's sad to see and sad to say, but they're
putting in good performances and Uh, Unfortunately, the the rise
of the Chelse maybe on the horizon and we're seeing

(30:04):
signs of it right now. No, it sucks.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
I hate it. You know, maybe we'll have to contact
our Chelsea correspondent in the coming week.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
You know what I'll say to that.

Speaker 5 (30:13):
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no no no.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
I was waiting for that to end. I just I
was like, when is this bun bar gonna end? It
just kept going. How long is that?

Speaker 3 (30:31):
That was twelve seconds of nose? Wow? All right, no,
but that was obviously tongue in cheek. We love we
love having her on too. Oh you not to discuss.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Well, and you know we always get ripped to because
we only bring her on when Chelsea are terrible.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
Truly, now that they're that they're playing well, we should
have her. Although I think we had discussed yesterday or
the day before that prior to the Chelsea Liverpool match.
In a couple of weeks, will reach out an invite
to Molina as she is one of our favorite guests,
and we'll have her on the show.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
And if they beat Spurs then you're breaking.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
Here, let's move on here from Chelsea because that's making
me depressed, which I want to feel happy. After Spurs
look like they're back and forth. This will make me happy.
Fulham three Newcastle one, huh yeah, huh. Think about this.
Thirty nine percent possession for Fulham yet they had twenty

(31:33):
two shots. I don't even know, like how that is possible.
The math isn't mathing here, but Newcastle.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
H eleven shots on target.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
They just they're just not consistent. They may be this
year's Brighton where they have really good games where you
look at them and go wow, like that is a
team that should be contending for European spots, in Newcastle's case,
maybe top four, and they've just come out and have
these stinkers. And my club's prone to it too, I understand,

(32:04):
but I just don't think Newcastle. I mean, this is
a big grand proclamation, It's probably not true based off
one game, but I'm just not sure that they were
inconsistent last year. I know how has been rumored for elsewhere.
I know he was names brought up. I don't know
if he was ever interviewed for the England spot. It

(32:26):
just seems to me like this could be Maybe this
is wishful thinking, probably is that they could be a
little inconsistent going forward. Is this overreaction or is it justified?

Speaker 3 (32:37):
No? I think I think it's a bit of overreaction.
I still think that they're a top six side. The
teams have these results all the time, especially on the
road against mid table sides who are up for the match,
and clearly Fulham were up for the match. I mean, geez,
twenty two shots, you're definitely could be barely at the ball. Yeah,
you're going to be spending some time in the final third.

(32:58):
And that's what they did. So they shooting range and
they pumped in three goals and they got the victory
as Fulham go to ninth in the table actually and
get their first win in three matches. Starting off the
season with eight points, the only team actually on eight
points in the table, as two teams are on nine
and two are on seven, including your club, Tottenham hotspot.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
Yeah, you know how in baseball I just say, don't
even look at the standings until the all start break.
What month can we start looking at the table? Well,
because I think it's irrelevant right now.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
Well, if we go, it depends on where, It depends
on what you're looking for in the table. If we're
looking at title contenders. Did we really think Tottenham after
leading the league after what a month or two months,
like nine ten weeks, nine ten weeks like, did we
really think that they were going to go on and
win the league? No? Well there's that, but the bottom

(33:55):
of the table certainly matters. You can look at the
standings now if teams can't pick up any points and
the relegation battle starts. I mean, you have three teams
on one point right now.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
I can't believe how. I mean Everton too will, I mean,
I don't even have them on my rundown here, but
the fact that they were. They would have been a
mid table team last season if it weren't for the
point deduction, and now they can't buy a point, you
know against Leicester.

Speaker 3 (34:21):
It's yeah, there's six squads that don't have a victory
this year, including Everton, including Crystal Palace, which is a
bit surprising to me. Although my funny you mentioned as
is tearing it up for Bayern Munich right now.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
Funny you mentioned Crystal Palace because that's where I want
to go next nil nil snoozefest against Man United, who
Spurs play next? Fifteen total shots for United they had
all the ball, six percent possession, But the thing the
shots on target, I mean six four for Palace, fairly

(34:54):
similar as I can't do it all himself. But this
is and I know Nana came out it basically said
we're head and shoulders the better team, like we should
have won. Blah blah blah. Again the fan has learned
you have to put the ball in the net to
win football matches. It's very simple.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
Yeah, Nana made a good save in that game too
to keep it.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
A nont Yes he did. So I'm just saying, and
again more wishful thinking for me, because I want top four.
I want more than top four. But if I'm looking
at the top four outlook, that's another team that I
need to be terrible. And the frustration for United, I think,
is at a boiling point. I think it's much less
of an overreaction Newcastle. I just am wishing into existence.

(35:36):
But Manchester United has not been good this year and
ten Hogs been on the hot seat for a while,
despite winning an FA Cup, which I still can't wrap
my head around. I don't believe in ten hog the
project at all. I think there's problems there. The Sancho
leaving and then immediately playing well for Chelsea. I just

(35:56):
I don't know. There's something stinks about man United. Something
reeks over there, don't you think.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
Yeah, and the manager's been there for a while, but
they change managers like I changed my socks, So they
can't really go through ten hog. I thought he was
going to stick around and then finally turn it around,
and it looks like he may not be doing that.
So I may be dead wrong on United. They haven't
shown me a lot through five weeks and they sit
currently tied with your squad, just two wins from five games.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
I mean losing to Brighton, getting smoked by Liverpool, like
just getting absolutely pounded. Yeah, you get the rebound game
at Southampton, but yeah, they're just they're not that good
of a team. I don't know. We'll see as it
goes along, we'll talk about their match coming up. Let's

(36:40):
talk about back to your club here. You get the
one and only Wanderers Bolton at home in about five
hours from when we're recording your thoughts.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
So this is going to be a bunch of the
second and third stringers, and the major storyline from this
match today will be the goalkeeping situation. I has already
been giving the day off. Their other two reserve goalkeepers
are hurt, one's cup tied, one's hurt, and then they're
going to have to go to there. I believe fourth string,
who is a sixteen year old who will be starting.

(37:12):
I believe in the Cup later tonight for the Arsenal
against Bolton, and I expect them to come through with
a win, and there's no I wouldn't. There's no kind
of excuses for not against the side that's way way
lower in the pyramid than you. So I expect the victory.
I expect to advance to the next round and I

(37:33):
don't expect any drama.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Think about this for kind of a wind up for Arsenal.
You get Bolton at home, the one and only Wanderers.
I just like saying that. Then a little bit step
above you get Lester at home, and then following midweek
you get PSG at home. So nice little warm up. Yeah,
as you it's like gaining levels, you know, like in

(37:56):
Super Mario or something. You get to the boss fight
at the end of the first three levels, and.

Speaker 3 (38:01):
Then they'll take on Southampton five days later and match
that I wear one in a match that I will
be attending.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
I can't wait. I cannot wait for you to be there.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
I know, I'm super excited.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Yeah, that's I need. I need to book my damn
trip out there already. I know you're I know I'm itching.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Well, you've you've you've been and now I.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
Was looking at the fixtures. There are some decent ones.
I could go like Forest at home in the spring.
That's not terrible. I could do that. Okay, anyways, enough
about me, but about my club. I don't know what
to make of Carabag. I don't know. Oh sorry, no,

(38:44):
Cara Bag is.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
Your club. But oh that's fine, that's ok.

Speaker 2 (38:51):
I don't know what to make of them. Obviously the
reporters know nothing about Spurs. We the fan has learned.
We will play attacking football. We will play a brand
of football. I'm very curious. I don't have many thoughts,
but I'm very curious what lineup and puts out there. Oh,
by the way, Romero suspended. Yeah do you know why? Yes,

(39:13):
for a yellow card two years ago the champions. So
he can't play. So that's great. So we're gonna see
Radu and hopefully Mickey. But I don't he made eight
changes in the Carabo Cup against Coventry, part of the
reason why we were so dreadful in that game. I
don't know where this ranks in rotation to ang and

(39:34):
to the to the program where like is it has
to be a step above the Carabo right and put
out a little stronger squad than that, but it's definitely
not Premier League. I would expect to see Slankey maybe,
but I really just don't. This is the first European
match under Big Ange, so.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
I don't know what.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
I don't know what to expect and what type of
lineup he's gonna put out. But all I know is
that I will will be singing Whoa, whoa the whole
time that kicks ass.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
Yeah great, it's a banger without a doubt.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
Last thing before we wrap it up, I wanted to
go through some learning games. I do think my club
is the biggest learning game of the Premier League this
week at Old Trafford got a draw out of that
last year. I think they're kind of vulnerable right now.
They had kind of a flat game as we just
talked about against Pallace, but Old Trafford the roof is

(40:30):
falling down, but it is still a tough place to
play at times. I'm not overall confident, but I think
that's probably the biggest learning game. As far as like
the top four race goes. You can make an argument
for Newcastle City. I think that's another good one. But
the main event on Monday. I actually think is probably
the biggest learning game between Bournemouth and Southampton because one

(40:51):
of those teams have got to stay up. Well, not necessarily,
but if you're gonna look at bottom six, that could
be a big learning game as well. Those are kind
of my highlights. I'm very curious to see how how
we come out against United, but we got to get
through Carabag first. Your thoughts, Yeah, no.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
I think this is this is a trophy that ours
that Tottenham should be in the mix for. There's no
reason why they can't go on the road and beat
some of these European squads that don't have nearly the
squad depth or the talent or quality that Tottenham do.
So I expect Tottenham to make a long run in
this competition firm. I firmly believe that they'll be playing

(41:30):
on Thursdays long into April. I didn't think that. Is
it more of a shock that I said it?

Speaker 2 (41:39):
Or is it you said it?

Speaker 3 (41:40):
Oh? Okay, okay, just want to just want.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
To well the new Like I said, the new format
really helps Spurs, really helps Urs. That there's no Champions
League clubs coming down into Europa League, which I always
thought is kind of a gimmicky thing anyways, that they
get relegated out of you know, I I like that
they're just separated now and I mean it's Spurs United
and everyone else as far as I'm concerned, and we'll
see both those clubs. Your club this week at Lester

(42:05):
at home Jamie Vardi brings his party to the Emirates
of your thoughts.

Speaker 3 (42:09):
I think it should be a pretty run of the
mill victory. I assume that Lester kind of you know,
we'll have their struggles breaking us down. I think, you know,
they're kind of a one man show up front. They
don't have a ton in the midfield. They just came
up from the championship. They're not a great side, and

(42:33):
as you saw in the first half of the match
that Tottenham played against them, they should have had four
or five goals, so creating chances won't be a problem,
and then just kind of patching holes at the back
making sure that there's no leaks. Should come away with
a two or three nail victory.

Speaker 2 (42:51):
The other one, briefly, Chelsea hosting Brighton. I think that
could be a fun game to watch the nine am.
It's during the Arsenal game. So I probably won't be
watching it, but i'll definitely catch up because that could
be potentially a learning game. Brighton's not a bad club.
No they're not great, but they're not that.

Speaker 3 (43:05):
And to your point, the Newcastle fixture which kicks off
the day at lunchtime over in London, sixty in on
Tyne Side, not in London, that would be in Newcastle,
and that'll be Manchester City taking on Newcastle and then
we'll learn some more about Newcastle and how they respond
off of a three to one kind of thrashing at

(43:27):
the hands of Fulham, and we'll see how City respond
after an emotionally charged match and also playing a cup
game during this week. During this week, they'll take on
Watford later today, so they and they play them at
home so they won't have to travel for that, but
they will have to travel to Newcastle just a short
trip down to Tyne Side and they'll take on the
Magpies in a probably another emotional match coming up on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
What do you think the Vegas favorites is for who
Holland throws the ball at this week? That's that's what
I want anyhow, yeaes, stay humble, Stay humble, yeah. So anyways,
that wraps up. We covered a lot of ground. Will
react to all the Premier League action, including our two clubs.
Will react to Champions League, the midweek fixtures, the Europa
League and all that. You know, what to expect is

(44:13):
a London Club Council to see you next week
