Speaker 1 (00:04):
We're at it again.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Welcome to another meeting of the London Club Council, now
representing Tottenham Hotspur. In this corner we do have Brett
Blakemore and repping Arsenal is Robbie Rosenhause. So boys, let
the banter begin.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Welcome into another edition of the line of Club Council.
I'm Bret Blake Moore, representing the mighty Tottenham Hotspur. Over
there is Robbie Rosehouse. He's representing that club. Back from
across the ponds Regale regaled in.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
A scarf and a shirt and everything else.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
So yes, yeah, and I think we'll go through your
trip later on in the episode and kind of your experience.
But but yeah, how are you? How is the trip
in a short term and in kind of keeping it short?
Was it everything of success, everything like you wanted it
to be.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Yeah, no, it was. It was a lot of fun.
I was anticipating this trip for actually on time only
just about twenty years so since approximately approximately since I
started following the club as a kid, and and just
it was quite remarkable. It's sad that I didn't get
to go to their old home Highbury, but I was

(01:14):
able to go to other stadiums as well, like the
home of Chelsea Stanford Bridge, where so many memories were
made for that club and also for Arsenal and other
clubs as well, and you can you can kind of
feel the history when you walk in there. And then
you gave my club some money, yes, and going to
the Emirates the next day. I was going to get
to that, yes, And that was obviously the highlight of
the trip was seeing the Arsenal win and win convincingly,

(01:36):
and then going to see the Vikings the next day
at the home of Tottenham Hotspur and just seeing your
magnificent stadium, because that's the best and nicest.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Thing saying that you'll never see again.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
It's it's it's amazing how you get a sense for
just how upscale and and gorgeous that stadium is just
in the middle of let's face it not the best
area of London.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
So when I was when I was at this, when
I was at the Luton match last year, that guys
around me were just like, once they figured out I
was American, They're like, this part of town used to
be so much better.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Yeah, it's not like the whole game was like, Okay,
it's fine. It's not it's not exactly a spot a
spot where you want to hang out down by Chelsea
though where I hung out on Friday after the tour
was great. But we'll get into more of that trip
after we walk come in our next Speaking.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Of Chelsea, we have our Chelsea correspondent, Milina Dadovitch back
with us. Because I told you before we start recording
that I always you said, I always bring you on
when Chelsea are at their lowest, when they just got battered,
and I and I got some some enjoyment of that.
But you're on top of the world right now and
on top of the table, but you could be soon
if you win this weekend. Uh, Malina your thoughts. Finally,

(02:54):
Chelsea are on top of the world. You've got something
to look forward to, and you've got a starboing Cole
Palmer and how are you.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
I'm amazing. I'm the best I've ever been on one
of these recordings.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Yeah, yes, you're glowing. There's no doubt about it. You've
gone from being battered to Battersea. Right, isn't that the
can I get a Can I get a rim shot?
I didn't get a rim shot. Battersea is the name
of Believe is the name of the tube station that's
right near Chelsea. But there's more than more than that.
To what's what's going on with the club and and

(03:25):
Malina the well, I mean, I don't even know where
to begin. Brett like, yeah, I mean there's there's just
so much good stuff going on with with Chelsea Football Club.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Well, I will say this, I want to touch on
two things and then I've got a list, a list
of Chelsea questions to get with Melina. But I wanted
to sence it's the international break. You're familiar with a
Thomas Tuckle. My club is familiar with a Thomas Touckle.
He is now the England manager. Quickly, your thoughts on that,
because I think it's a weird move that a German

(03:54):
is the England national team coach. But hey, here we are, Molina.
Your thoughts on on Tukel for England.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
I personally love it a lot for two reasons. One,
Manchester United's grubby little hands are off of my beloved
and two I just think he is like top three
cup competition manager. The FA very much surprised me, like

(04:22):
I did not think that they would have the moxy
for such an aggressive, vertical higher I feel like all
the managers they've had since, like Capello, basically have just
been very horizontal, like the same sort of Englishman mentality.
But this guy is a winner, like just certified winner.
And if there's anyone to bring a title to England,

(04:45):
either Euros or World Cup, it's him. I mean people
are upset that it's a you know, a non Englishman,
a German like Winston Churchill rolling around in his grave whatever.
But you can either you can either want to win
or you can either wan an english Men as your manager,
because those two seem very mutually exclusive at this point.
And Englishman's never won the league, so why do you

(05:07):
think an Englishman's going to win you the World Cup?
So I I love it. I'm obsessed with it, like
could like ten ten amazing, no notes.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
I I just think that for for as big a
job as that is, and and and as high profile
uh as it is, I mean it's one thing to be,
you know, here in America and have the you know,
American team. But around the world, yes, we're viewed as
you know, beacon of freedom. We're not exactly viewed as
a world power in football England in their minds.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
To see, wait, I've got something for the next time.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Oh yeah, well how about that. But just in their
minds and obviously on on the pitch. I mean they
were close, they got to they get they got to
a final and and you know, we know what happened
with the with the mess penalty with soccer, but there
they're severe depoint disappointment in these cup competitions and you
you hit the nail on the head. I mean thinking

(05:59):
about just going back to Chelsea out of form, goes
and wins the Champions League with Tuckle out of nowhere.
So I just think that it is a perfect fit, Brett.
And to what you and Melina said, I think I
think the FA did a good job here. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
From a storyline's viewer neutral perspective, this is a treat
This is the best because you know something is going
to happen. There's going to be some drama in the camp.
You know someone's gonna get left out that probably maybe
shouldn't or people think that they shouldn't. I mean, from
a viewer perspective, it's fantastic. I just don't know how
anyone fails at this. England teams, the damn All Star

(06:36):
at the All Star Team at this point. But I
don't like Tuckle. I'd never have And it's not even
a Spurs thing. It's not the Antonio Conte handshake that
is amazing clip. It's still a Polisic bias that he
just completely derailed his career for like three years. And
it still pisses me off to this day because now
he's in Italy flourishing. When a manager actually believes in him,

(06:59):
go figure. So I'm not a fan of him personally
as a coach. I know he is a special place
in your heart, Malina, but I just don't like him.
But I'm happy that there's at least a viewing pleasure
for that.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Yeah, And the thing is, I think it just makes
a lot of sense because Cole Tucle wanted to operate
very independently from the ownership, which was a big point
of contention between ownership and Toukele. Now like the IFA
can't tell him who to call up that he has

(07:31):
in a like probably the best selection of players to
choose from. Like every time we talk about in England,
camp were pissed like this guy was left out, this
guy was It's like ten people who were left out
and it's like sorry, And I think this is like
this is just so good for tu Col Like I'm
I can't wait for the next Like I don't know

(07:52):
when his deal starts, but I just can't wait to
see that version of.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
England real quick. One more international note and then we'll
move on to actual meaningful football. Every time the international
break comes up, at the bar that's the Tottenham bar
in town, there's one guy who just screams, ban international play,
And that's kind of how I feel sometimes. But I
love the World Cup. But a coach for the US

(08:16):
men's national team who's coached two out of the three
of the clubs represented in this podcast, is now your
coach for the US. Mauricio. He's magic, you know, Mauricio Pachettino.
My only thought on this is I was more than
willing to throw Beralta under the bus because it's an
MLS coach punching above his weight, and I was willing

(08:36):
to bail the US players out of that. Now, if
this US team fails with Potch, there is no more
easy excuse to go, well, it was the coaching, Well,
they're this and that, like to me, this is it.
If you can't succeed with this coach, it's squarely on
the players. In my opinion, they look good. They played
a night against Mexico. I'll probably watch it. Polistic's not playing,

(08:57):
McKinney's not playing, so what does it really matter? But
up former everyone knows as Chelsea manager, not your thoughts
will start with you. Molina on patch with the US.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Again, I think it's an incredibly aggressive vertical move, similar
to what the FA have just done with two gool.
For some reason, as soon as those links were happening
with the USMNT job, I was like, this makes so
much sense. I don't know. I haven't watched. I didn't

(09:32):
watch the Panama game, so I can't speak to how
it looked. I think patch ball is very exciting, and
I think it's very different to what international football is
known for. You know, it's not particularly defensive and like
sitting back. I think it's very different. And I think
that US AND's national team fans are in for a

(09:54):
lot of chaos ball, which will be so fun.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
I love that, Robbie.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Some of us were other sporting events that night. Some
of us took in the game live, and I thought
that they did not, uh create a ton of kind
of chances in the in the final third. They did,
they didn't have a ton of shots, they didn't, you know.
But again on to that point, yeah, I mean, I'm

(10:18):
not I'm not going crazy like it's the first game,
Like he's gonna have to test drive, lineups, formations, things
like that. So it's gonna take some time. This is
why it's perfect to get him in here now two
years well a little bit less than two years ahead
of the pre eminent competition that's coming, the biggest World
Cup ever coming to the States. So I'm firmly uh

(10:39):
in in lockstep with with the higher and certainly the
way that he likes to play, and I think moving
forward it should provide some uh some bear some fruit.
Although Brett over wildly overrates the US team like he's
and again and again, but that's what I do, right,

(11:00):
that's again again, I'm just I'm just trying to pull
back the curtain here a little bit. Like, of course,
I'm not saying that you're out of line doing that.
We're just trying to put disclaimers on things because you
you act like they're they're their top five. I like
Christian but we have him playing in Italy at the

(11:21):
highest level, and then we have other players scattered around.
But what exactly are they doing now? Josh Shargent is
scoring goals at a second division side in England every game. Yeah,
well yes, but he's scoring against guys who sell insurance
during the week. Like come on, like, come on, just.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
Back the championship, come on, respect, I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Well when perhaps we have some perhaps.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
There's no MLS players in the starting eleven, that's good
enough for me.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Again, perhaps in the future.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Rob I think the drop off after Pulistic and McKinney
in terms of like club quality, I think there is
drop off there.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
I would Can I put one more in? I think
Anthony Robinson is absolutely class.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
He is so good he could be He can be
really good on his best days. So can Geo, so
can Desk. Hey listen, they're playing at the biggest clubs
in the world door Barcelona, So these teams are taking
a chance on them because they see the talent. The
problem is putting in consistent displays week in and week out.
I'm not saying that they have to be Holland or

(12:24):
Palmer or Soccer or Caine, somebody that goes out there
and you expect them to perform week in and week out.
These guys and I know that it's stop and start
and this isn't their clubs, and it's it's hard to
just kind of helicopter in for you know, for you know,
six days and play two matches and then helicopter back
out and go back to your country or or your

(12:46):
club or wherever you're playing, because some of these guys
are playing in MLS, most of them are playing scattered
around Europe. But again back to your pocaccino thing, it
was certainly a good hire and I see some positivity
moving forward, even if it's going to take a little
bit of time.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Let's get to the prem and I'm I want to
talk about Chelsea. I've warned you about this ahead of time.
Here we go, Here lights the grenade. UH September thirtieth,
Molina tweeted in all caps, this is just a thought exercise.
No one yell at me. It's just a question. Dot
dot dot. If Chelsea signed Bokayo Soka or Phil Foden

(13:22):
instead of Palmer, would they have the same impact. So
is Cole Palmer better than Soka and is he better
than Phil Foden. Would they have that the same impact
that they had to essentially do it all on their
own at Chelsea.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
It's a ridiculous question. It's a ridiculous question, Melina. I
can see you smiling. Brett Is, Brett Is. Let's go ahead.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
I'm just gonna back away.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
It is the last time, last time I checked, and
correct me if I'm wrong. Okay, but Soaka plays on
the right hand side of the formation. Last time I looked.
Cole Palmer does not play on the right side.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
He's everywhere.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
No, Cole. Cole played right right wing last season, right.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
But this year he is up there actually as a
number nine. He is a number nine? Is he not? Well?
Excuse me, sorry, he's a ten. I didn't sorry, I
miss spoke. He's he's he's a class number ten. Right.
He's right in the middle of the park, right, exactly.
He's not on the right He's in the middle of
the park.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
When he dropped this bomb on me before you got
to the studio, I was like, I have an answer.
That's going to play Kate Robbie and he will be
very happy. Oh really, yeah, because I think you can
fit both of like any obviously they play together in England.
I think you can play but Cry on the right,
and I think you can play Cole in the ten.
But who gets sacrificed there, Phil Foden. I just don't

(14:50):
think Phil Foden is by far the most overrated. I
think he's so like Pep roboticized, mechanized player. Like it's
sort of like when Katib goes to Belgium, it's not
the same, it's not the same KTB and has been
literally given the keys to this England team and he
should have not played more than forty five minutes in

(15:12):
the entire Euros. After that first half of that first game,
I was viscerally disgusted. And then to watch Cole Palmer
get garbage time minutes and one assist a winner to
get you to the final and then score an equalizer
in the final to keep your ass in the game,
like Cole have more impact than Phil in that entire tournament,

(15:37):
and I just pokayo okaia taca. I think is just
I don't think you can even compare the two, like
Robbie was saying, but I think.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
It's apples and oranges.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Yeah exactly, But when it comes to phil and Palmer,
I know who I'm taking ten times out of ten,
one hundred times out of one hundred, and anyone who
tells you differently, I just I don't see it with
Foden and he's not playing for Pep. Pep's not going
to be there forever.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
So I I think they're both fantastic players. I personally
think photons better at at tracking back rather than kind
of Palmer feeding. Let's say the number nine, you know,
whoever it is, Jackson or whoever it is up front,
Like I just think moving forward, going going, going that way.
I think Palmer certainly is a better option. But Soca,

(16:26):
I mean to to Brett's point, he loves thinking that
he's just gonna kind of come off the left and
do his thing. Excuse me, come off the right and
do his thing. And uh doesn't have that much of
an impact. But if you see.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
The balance commercially is in he only uses left foot.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
If you see me, just just look at the second
goal that they scored against Southampton last week. He puts
in a beautiful cross to Martin Elly who sneaks in
the back end and puts it and puts it right
by the keeper. I think to your to your to
your point and and to your quote unquote ridiculous question
about would they have this would they have the same record?

(17:01):
I think it. I think it goes to and and
my positions were all messed up there, but I think
it goes to whether or not you'd have different people
kind of replacing, like a different formation, or you know,
who would who would be in, you know, in Palmer's position,
or who would be in Soccer's position, so it would
be the other two players that would be involved there,

(17:22):
you know, how how would you kind of shape the team?
But it's it's an interesting hypothetical. I think all three
are going to contribute to an England team that's going
to be one of the favorites when they come here
to win the World Cup, maybe in the top three.
I haven't looked at the odds, but but I do
think that that Palmer, though is is definitely multipurpose and

(17:43):
can play in different positions. He played in the wing
last year and this year obviously he's playing in the
middle of the park. And and and Brett loves I mean,
he he's very very kind of rare with his praise
for Arsenal. But one guy that he does love for
the Arsenal is their number ten and that's Martin Nodeguard.
So the way that he pulls the strings and the

(18:03):
way Palmer pulls the strings, and the way as you
know Molina who was very mercurial and can put in
performances better than anybody in the Premier League. Mesodozil when
he played the number ten he was at some points
he was better than anybody in the league. But for
Palmer to put in the consistent performances week in week
out and order Guard to do it, it just proves.

(18:24):
It just proves that their class their world class. And
it doesn't matter you know what team they play for
or what manager they play for. I just think that
moving forward they're they're they're both going to be stellar players.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Yeah, Cole Palmer is a shining star for you. Someone
who's not and I don't want to go through the
whole thing, but I sent the the London Club Council
eleven and I put Vicario in over over Riah and
over Sanchez. Someone who's not in contention for that spot
is Sanchez. I think that guy is a problem. I mean,
he's he may be costing you points. Hereenah, no, okay,

(18:58):
I was just being nice. Wow, he absolutely is. You're
how big of a problem is this for you?

Speaker 4 (19:06):
I think the bigger problem is that Maresca likes him.
I think that's the bigger problem because I think Joejja Petrovitch,
who we sent on loan to Strasburg, is a better
shot stop, shot stopper, better goalkeeper, and the only reason
he was sent out on loan and not our number
one keeper this season is because he can't play out
from the back. And that's why Maresca loves Robbie Robert Sanchez. Yeah,

(19:32):
he's like the all the goals we've conceded are so
you directly passed to a Brighton player, directly passed Frank
Layer twice. You let as A have basically like target
practice on. I'm like, brother, come on and look, I

(20:00):
just I just.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
Would you rather have Kappa? No, okay, because he's in
your system, you could have him.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
I think you'd have Wow, I think you'd rather have
t Bow Courtois. But that's not what yeah, I mean, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
That's just a different stratosphere.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Yes, well, you can bring back you can bring back Petter.
Check at what fifty four years old with his helmet.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
Yeah, I think he might better.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
It's a keeper that played for Arsenal and Chelsea before
you started following them, and he used to wear a
helmet because he got a he got multiple concussions. Yes, yes,
and he was like one of the nicest people ever.
I believe I've saw multiple interviews. Have you seen interviews
with Petter Check. Seems like a nice a nice fellow.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
So he's very like he's like so huge, but he's
so soft spoken, like so.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Yeah, exactly, yeah, right, yeah, like like like a humongous person,
but is very very just very so.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
It sounds like a like a snack or something that
you would have Petter Check. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
Actually, he was the legendary Chelsea keeper and then played
for Arsenal at the tail end of his career when
he was over the hill. Actually didn't didn't do terribly
for them, but was much better for Chelsea in his prime. Anyway,
back to current day Chelsea.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
To Robert Sanchez, I honestly don't even think the defensive
mistakes really mattered to him that much because he's like,
we're gonna make those mistakes just by the nature of
the style of play playing out from the back and
doesn't really matter when his whole game philosophy is just outscore.

(21:29):
You know, best, defense is a great offense. I think
that's his whole mantra. We had Jose who said defense
wins you championships. Now I have defense is a great offense,
and that's what we're going with.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
That's best. So the match against Forrest Right didn't didn't
particularly play out in their favor. It was it was
a pretty spirited match from the extended highlights that I saw,
I did not watch it start to finish, being at
the at the end of fell game on Sunday. But
it seems like a few injuries coming out of that

(22:05):
going into the Fernando Torp I mean the victor, I
mean the Daniel Sturage Derby this I always love that
one this weekend, and it appears that they could be
some some lineup changes here out of that game, out
of that match going into the Liverpool match.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
Yeah, it's so it's more suspensions than injury. So Kokorea
has five and then I think Wesley has also picked
up five yellows, which I know this might not be
a talking point for you guys, but it's a talking
point for me. So I just want to see, like
where you guys are with us with the fact that
the threshold for getting a yellow now is genuinely on

(22:46):
the floor. I think they need to up how many
yellows you can get before you get a suspension because Cuckorea,
I think of his five only two are for fouls
and three are for going up to the ref. Think,
if you're gonna have like such quite frankly bs rules
and letting these refs just be all willy nilly with

(23:07):
their cards, I think you have to extend grace to
the players and up at like seven or eight or
something like that.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Well, Rob you would know all about that. If you
just tap the ball away with your foot during a
then you get multiple yellows and get sent off.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
So so Brett just wants to get me angry at
five point forty one on it Tuesday afternoon. Okay, that's
that's fair. I mean, Declan Rice kind of nudging the
ball away there and then getting sent off was one
of the most egregious things. And I understand it's letter
of the law. I get it. But that's another thing.
If you want to talk about the accumulation of yellow
cards that we can throw that in what Brett just
said about the little stupid stuff that you know, I mean,

(23:43):
it shouldn't count the same as somebody you know, stopping
a fast break or a counter a fast break or
you know, a counter or or or elbowing somebody in
the in the in the in the phase or whatever. Yeah,
a tactical foul exactly shouldn't be the same. But again,
and it's it's you know, this is this is this
sport is older than us, and we'll go on for

(24:05):
longer than us, and we're lucky to have VAR. I
I think VAR has a purpose. I think that we
should get the calls right and people who complain about
it are are are just are just short sighted. So
I do agree with you with the cards, and I
think the more reviews the better.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
Yeah, one more Chelsea bit that I just haven't We
haven't had you on since do you? I'm assuming you do,
But I'm not going to put words in your mouth. Palmer,
not in the conference league roster, so we won't play
at all. Yeah, that's kind of I mean, I get
the reasoning, but like that's a competition you could win,
you know what I mean? Like it is a cup.
It does count. Ask wes Ham, it counts. So do

(24:40):
you are you okay with that decision? Do you support her?
Do you think like, well, it's a Cup's a cups
a cup.

Speaker 4 (24:46):
So he's not going to be in the squad, so
you can refresh the squad in January, so for the
league portion of it, he won't be in the squad
and then I assume they will add him at like
in the later phases of the competition. At first, I
was kind of like, I hate this because I've seen
this team play without Cole Palmer and I hate it.

(25:08):
But I also appreciate Mauresca's like load management of these players, like,
for example, Romeo Lavia is not in the squad and
I don't think he will be at any point. Was
I Fafana is not in that squad. I don't think
he will be at any point. And I those are
obviously two of our injury prone players. And I would
hate for something to happen to Cole in Kazakhstan, which

(25:31):
is that we're going there. That is not a joke.
We are going to Kazakhstan in the middle of effing December.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
I do not need coal on a frozen pitch.

Speaker 4 (25:39):
Yeah, that doesn't need to happen. We have a hellish
run in the league from November to December. Keep that
man for Saturdays and Sundays midweek can be for the
other guys.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
No, yeah, yeah, without a doubt. And going back to
Brett had mentioned your tweet earlier this earlier this season,
I want to go back to I want to go
back to your your preseason thoughts and just kind of
if they've if they've changed, you know, as we sit here,
you know, a few months into the season seeing the progress.

(26:12):
I know they just drew Forrest, but again putting putting
up win after win before that and now firmly uh
throwing themselves into the top four race. And and who knows,
maybe you know, with a string of results against big clubs,
maybe throwing themselves into the dare I say title race?
I mean for the expectation level. I just kind of
went up and level there. And you haven't thought about

(26:33):
winning a title in I don't know, six seven, eight years.
Maybe as a Chelsea fan, well as a well you may,
but you have delusions of grandeur with with Harry Kane
and a bunch of you know, nonsense, and and and
and son who's not in his prime anymore. But uh
I Belita has a well oil machine right now, which
I was one year earl if you remember, if you

(26:54):
remember last year, I predicted them third and I was
and this year I predicted United. I think either third
or fourth, that's going to be so far off. I
thank good dec I didn't put any money on that.
I should have put money on Chelsea this year, I didn't,
and I was one year early on them, if it
holds true. But to make a long story longer copyright
Paul Allen, what are your expectations now kind of moving forward? Like,

(27:15):
I don't put a label on it, don't say I
expect top four, I expect this, I expect that. But
just just in generic terms, what do you expect from
this club, the in the different competitions.

Speaker 4 (27:29):
So that's actually a very good question, because going into
the season, I had no expectation, just because I had
no idea what to expect from MORESCA. Like I'm not
going to sit here and say I watched Moresca's Lester
in the championship, because I didn't, and so I was
so scared after what I saw in preseason. Preseason was

(27:49):
absolutely horrific and I was just like, oh my god,
it's it's hotter all over again. It's going to be horrific.
It's going to be terrible. Sure the last month and
a half, I am a believer of Enzo Maresca. I like,

(28:10):
I believe in him. I believe in a Chelsea manager
for the first time since tucol and I don't believe
in them the same amount by any show to the
imagination because Thomas Tucole won his Champions League and Enzo's
been here of two months. But it's the first time
where I like, back my gaffer. No matter what, I
would go to war for this man. I would do Carton,

(28:31):
go through glass for this squad. And I just think, like,
what is being built now? All of the talking I
did about you just have to wait, you just have
to be patient, you just have like growing pains, blah
blah blah. It's finally coming to fruition. And again anyone
saying we're in a title race, I don't think this

(28:52):
is the season for that. I think this we are
very much like little horse, little baby horse, like lots
of milk, lots of water, and then maybe next season. No,
next season, definitely, depending on where we finish. But I
think top four non negotiable. I think Conference League you
must win. I've seen the teams in that league are
in that cup competition. You have to win that. The

(29:15):
squad we have that the squad that's playing in the
Conference League is our B squad, but our B squad
could give a prem team a run for their money.
So it would be so embarrassing for them not to
win it because I know how good they are. But yeah,
I think top four is absolutely doable. And I'm so

(29:37):
impressed with Moresque, Like every single thing about Enzoe Mareska.
I'm just so I don't have a single question my
questions about potch. Last season horrific. In game management, I
think we were one of the worst coach teams during
games Like in the league. Enzo Maresca makes amazing substitutions,

(29:59):
ballsy substitut, gutsy substitutions. He's made two or three halftime
subs that were massively impactful. I think I think was
it Wolves he took off he took off Mudrik at
halftime because it was two two puts on Neto. We bang,
we win six to two. Next game starts Netto, Netto

(30:21):
doesn't have the best first half, takes him off, puts
on San Joe Bang assists for in Cunu another sub so.
I think his in game management has been perfect. I
think the way he manages these players in terms of
their load considering are like the worst injury crisis I've
seen and ever. Right now our only injured player is
Reech James, but even he's back on the grass now

(30:42):
and training with the squad. I love the way we play.
I didn't like it at first, but I like it now.
I think the boys are buying into it. I think
they really like this manager. And I think a credit
to that right is Nney was asked about the current
about end zone Rasca and he was like, he hasn't
told me anything like major to change. It's just these

(31:02):
small little tweaks that have changed like so much about
my game and made me so much better. And I'm like, yes,
I love this man. I love Enzo Maresca. I love
that bald man.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
Real quick, last Chelsea note before we move on Liverpool
at the weekend and Phild You'll never walk alone score
prediction your thoughts from that game.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
I don't want to do a score prediction because I'm
scared you never know what these little bozos that I
love so much. But you're asking me before if I
think this is the first big test for Maresca and
Chelsea team, I don't think so. I think the first
test was that first one of games, because when you
look at our start last season and our start this season,
the level of opponent was pretty much the same. We

(31:47):
played Forrest, we played west Ham like that, you know,
that caliber of team, and we lost those games, which
is not great. And I think after seven games we
only had seven points and now we have fourteen points
after seven games, which is a massive better. Yeah, markedly better.
And to Robbie's point about the Forest game, like Forest

(32:11):
are very good team. They beat Liverpool at anfield, they
are like they are not the relegation level for us
that they were last year. And we people have been saying, like,
Chelsea will lose that game last year, and I'm like,
it's not Chelsea lose that game. We lost that game
at home very early on in the season, and I

(32:31):
think and that's a plus seven point differential at this stage.
So I think he's passed the first test, and now
the second test is can you do it against the
bigger clubs now because puts for better or for worse
put on shows versus the big six. So I am
excited because I think it's a big test. But yeah,

(32:56):
I if we lose, I won't be upset in terms
of like they stink. I'll be upset just because I
hate losing, but I won't manager. I won't be like,
oh it's over whatever. But yeah, I think we can
go go to anfield and do bits.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
Absolutely, Well, don't say that we never bring you on
when Chelsea aren't flying anymore, that that narrative is dead.
Let's let's talk about Robbie squad. Unfortunately, you only take
precedent over mind because I don't want to talk about
Spurs match.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
So so we'll go to yours.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
And you were there, so a little bit of a
different experience. Your thoughts, Robbie, Uh, three to one winners Southampton.
You were in the stands. Uh, you were on the
the clock end. That's what it is, the clock ends.
So your your experience from in the stadium.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
Yeah, no, it was, it was. It was a lot
of fun. It just just kind of soaking in the atmosphere.
Before we went in. It was my first my first match.
It's it was surreal kind of seeing how how they
entered the stadium. Basically you take your take your phone,
you hold it up to kind of the wall, which
is it's very very narrow the gates to get in.

(34:10):
And no, definitely not. I mean, uh, Melina, you you
didn't know me back then. Actually Brett didn't either. But
actually I was just I may may not have sent
you the picture yesterday, but I had just seen a
Facebook memory of mine of of me when I was
much much bigger, I mean close to like four hundred pounds,
and there's no chance that I would have been able
to fit through that entrance at at that weight. So

(34:32):
I was actually thinking about that as I kind of
sidled through, stuck my phone up there like I was.
I felt like I was the men in Black. I
was going into like some sort of alternate dimension. And
when I got in, I took a deep breath and
the first thing I did everybody awe at the same time,
was I FaceTime Brett. Oh, it's true.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
I think I had a bigger smile than you you did,
because I was so happy he was You were happy
and you're also relieved, I think, because you know, he
wasn't until I actually got in the stadium.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
He wasn't convinced that. I thought your ticket would not work.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
I thought something would go the friend.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Would go wrong. But then once I got in the
in the building, I took a deep breath and I
was able to enjoy the match from about the fifty
five minute for you, no, well, actually actually no, because
the first half, although Arsenal were shooting at my end,
it was one way traffic. So the entire match was
basically played at my end. Although they didn't score, they
came close. Stirling came close at one point, another former

(35:29):
Chelsea player.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
And now you guys just trans just send them players
back and forth. Some rivalry between you two.

Speaker 1 (35:35):
Just that's that's been going on. That's been going on
since you gotta hit the who again. But that's been
going on since the days of like Nicholas and Nilka.
So I don't know, right, Milana, Did I give you
a reference there?

Speaker 4 (35:48):
Right?

Speaker 1 (35:48):
The Frenchman? Anyway, But back to this game, and.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Never give any we can't get Connor Gallagher, you'll send
him to let it go, but oh no, just trade
back and forth. With Chelsea.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
No, no, no, we get we get bums like they
Louis passed their prime. Yeah, but uh no, the match
was great. I mean they I mean they go they
go down one nil, and at that point, you know,
I actually took out my phone and I was sitting
at the clock end, so I was adjacent to the

(36:18):
to the away Southampton fans and they were going nuts.
So like at that point, listen, I was just enjoying
the experience so much. This wasn't the Champions League finals.
So I was able to take out my phone and
take a picture of the away fans and them celebrating
in front. I thought that was a cool, a cool thing.
You would have never done that, but I did because
I was so.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
Down one nil too. I did not take a picture
fans away.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
That was four That was four minutes into the game.
You're so excited to be there and then boom, you're
down one nil. It's like what But this was a
half of pure dominance. They went down one yes you did.
They went down one nil, but I knew that they
were going to score. I mean they were against a
team that had that had gone lost after loss after loss,
and if they didn't then there was really something rotten

(37:02):
in the state of dead Mark copyright Shakespeare.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
I don't never went again.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
I just don't. Then it would have been kind of
something that I would have been bad luck because to
see them there lose to Southampton would have been aching
to you know, the worst loss maybe of the Arteta era.
So I didn't think that was gonna happen. I knew
they'd get one, I wasn't sure if they'd get to
They ended up getting three. The each goal was although

(37:27):
the third one was just was just kind of sock
a running onto a ball where Southampton were kind of
playing around with it in their own six yard or
even even just outside the six and the eighteen. But
the first two goals were things of beauty, including the first,
which was Havertz again being involved. That's that's more goals
for him, and again just he has had an impact.

(37:49):
He's only twenty six years old, he's not over the hill,
and he's going to be a big part of this
club to come. I love getting that that note in there,
because I firmly believed from the beginning. We've been talking
to you now for two years now. I've been talking
with Brett for three, and since they got Havertz Listen
Malina during COVID, I know you did this like I did.
We turn on ESPN Plus and watched the Bundesliga when

(38:13):
it was going on in empty stadiums, and I saw
Kai Havertz play and I saw Timo Werner play. And
those were two guys that I so badly wanted on Arsenal,
both of them. I wanted them so badly, and I
was so right on one and so wrong on the
other that we're gonna call it a watch because I
can't even like take credit because I wanted Verner too.

(38:36):
And as Simon Jordan on Talk for says, he's a
speedboat but no brain, and he can run faster than
anybody on Tottenham, not named Mickey van Devenn, thank you,
or anybody maybe in the Perier League. But he stinks.
He can't finish, and Katz and Kai Havertz can he
And he did in that bless him right, and he
did for your squad, and he won your trophy, and

(38:56):
he's got that Champions League which I saw your Champions
League trophies proudly presented. And you know what was right
in the middle of those two trophies. What I went
to Stanford Bridge last week was the FIFA Club World
Cup trophies sitting right in the mid We couldn't take Yeah,
you'll never sing that right. You couldn't take pictures of
the trophies, which I found interesting. You couldn't take pictures

(39:18):
with them or of them. But again, Chelsea draw, Arsenal win,
and we'll get to Brett's team in just a second here.
But as far as just kind of wrapping up the
Arsenal match, it was a whole hum once they went
up to one. I never was acted south to Southampton
to score. It was just a matter of was the
clock going to run out? And it didn't and they
ended up getting the three points.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
Molina, Arsenal, do you consider them or how do you
feel what you've seen so far? Do you feel like
they're truly the title contenders that that most people do,
or you think that City eventually are gonna I always
just feel like City eventually are gonna roll, Like we're
just waiting for the inevitable where City eventually takes over.
Do you agree with me or do you think from

(40:00):
what you've seen with Arsenal this season they have the
power to do it.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
I think that they have the power to do it.
I predicted them to win the league this year, but
I also did that last year, so I could just
be bad. Juju. You appreciate your service anything for the cause,
thank you, But I just think City don't look like City.
But to caveat that, they just find a way to

(40:27):
win when it matters, anything could happen. I think you
would be a fool. Anyone would be a fool to
just be like, no, City not gonna. I think it's
so dumb to not have City as your favorites because
they wanted four times in a row and you do
not get there by accident, no way, no how. But
I definitely think Arsenal are up there. I think they're

(40:50):
more up there than Liverpool. I don't really believe the
Liverpool right now. I could be eating dunk. Someday Good
played anyone and the only like good team, good form
team that they've been playing was forced and they lost.
So yeah, I just I need Their next stretch is
like genuinely horrific in the league, so we'll definitely see

(41:13):
what they're made of. And they've only conceded two goals
in the league so far, which is crazy. But again
they've not many.

Speaker 3 (41:19):
Yeah, that defense is insane. They are going through a
little bit of a soft spot right now at Southampton
Bournemouth Bournemouth away quickly. We're we were talking about before
he got in. Could be a little tricky, could be
do I do I hear smell cheese? Is there a
little trap game going on?

Speaker 1 (41:35):
Time stamp this.

Speaker 3 (41:37):
I'm just trying to get you going.

Speaker 1 (41:38):
No, you're not, because they're gonna go down there and
they're gonna get three points. You can time stamp this too.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
Done. Okay, what's the score.

Speaker 1 (41:44):
That I won't give you, but I'm gonna give you.
I'm gonna give you three points. I do not expect
them to go down I haverd scores again, I don't
know about that. But singing his song in the Emirates
was like some sort of just sports orgasm that had
never experienced before. Okay, it touched all the fields, so
I mean, I mean, hey, hey.

Speaker 3 (42:01):
Yeah, it doesn't even rhyme the worst Well, anyway.

Speaker 1 (42:05):
That's too bad. That was Shakira, right, that's that's yeah exactly.
Don't lie. Yeah, her hips don't lie. And now that
the score line that.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
Is true, I do want to talk about my club.
I hold my hand up. Well, Chick King, Yes, first
of all, in your big wind up to one of
your questions, Malina, you said, yeah, they they drew against
Forrests not great, but you won a lot of games
before that, and that seemed to override the bad result.
I just want that on record because we won five

(42:34):
straight before having eighteen minutes of the worst football we've
ever played under, and so I just want that to
be on the record.

Speaker 1 (42:39):
That's consistency, that's fair.

Speaker 4 (42:40):
But that was that was a Cara Bag and somebody
else that.

Speaker 3 (42:46):
Was Your objections are duly noted. But what I'm saying
and Cara Bag, we were down to ten men for.

Speaker 1 (42:54):
The entire game.

Speaker 3 (42:55):
Still want you lost a man and we won three. No,
I know that was such a bad place by rather too,
but yes, hand up, it was my fault we didn't
record because I delayed it after the United game. It
wasn't your fault. You weren't delaying it. So I do
want to mention that that we looked awesome. I mean
we were flying that game and United I get there

(43:18):
terrible And I have been singing on this pod that
they're frauds and fraudulent, and I laughed that you had
him picked so high because I thought there were frauds.
That being said, it's still not an easy task to
go into Old Trafford and just dominate the game for
ninety minutes. We had more x G up to that point.
We had more XG in that game in Old Trafford
than United has their whole season at Old Trafford so far.

(43:39):
We dominated, came the start to finish.

Speaker 4 (43:42):
But Sonny instead of Timo, who literally could not have
a born door if he tried, it could have been
I mean been three weeks removed from this job, like
it would have been six to seven.

Speaker 1 (43:56):
Yeah, it's probably with one team showed up right the
play and the other team looked like they were ready
to go on an international break. Yeah, it's true a
week early.

Speaker 3 (44:06):
Now United didn't they draw Villa the next week? Yes,
and they could have won that game. So it's not
like I don't know. I know, I'm building it up
to be probably bigger than what it is, but I
mean it was just perfection. I mean, you want to
talk about your I got your experience, but obviously to
a lesser extent because I was watching it on TV.

(44:26):
But I mean that was just pure bliss just seeing
them run through and then the Packers immediately lose to
the Vikings and we don't have to talk about that,
so that kind of ruined the rest of the day.
But yeah, anyways, yeah, I know, and we're in last
place in the North two and I'm getting distracted. So
even though we're fourign two, so then Brighton a place

(44:48):
that forever reason, we're just so ever since I was
at the last I was there the last time we
beat Brighton at the MX in the away end, which
was still top five experience of my life. Harry Kane
one nil singing Antonio. Look, yeah, I know, and I
took part in it too, which is the worst part.
But yeah, one nil win. It was a bad Saying

(45:12):
it was a bad second half might be the biggest
understatement of all time. I mean, it was your first
second half ever under and yeah, and the first half
was brilliant, So it sucks, but I'm not gonna let
one horrible half. I've said it once, I've said it again.
I believe in this as project point blank, period, and

(45:33):
I think that with the lack of stability that this
club has had. I know, I'm going on a big
on my soapbox here. I think the the online rage
and the way that some the vocal minority of Spurs
fans are online comes from the instability of sacking managers
every other year and and not seeing a project through.

(45:56):
And and I think that if we finally can have
some stability and believe in a project like I think
we do with and I think some of that online
doom and gloomism that I just despise will go away.
And I truly believe, like this is the guy, this
is the project. I think Selanky is our striker. I'm
really optimistic that they can have and all the the

(46:19):
I know, and all the metrics and all of the
chances created touches in the opposition in box blah blah
blah blah blah. Spurs are all like top three in
the prem and every single one of them. So it's
about taking all those stats that are great, but they
don't get you points. Putting the ball in the back
of the net gets you points. I'm just I'm very
still optimistic. But yeah, it was an awful half and

(46:41):
there's nothing to be said, but they didn't come out
to play I know you took pleasure and I were
you watching that that Brighton games?

Speaker 1 (46:46):
It was brutal.

Speaker 4 (46:47):
Oh I turned it off at halftime because I was like, ugh, Spurs,
and then I saw one goal. I said, let me
turn and it was great. It was great. But I
do agree. I think I trust the ant project a
lot I like and a lot. I just think that
game was proof that, like the Bozogene exists, and that's fine.

(47:13):
Like you still have very good players, and I always say,
you're never as good as your last win, and you're
never as bad as your last loss.

Speaker 1 (47:21):
There's a difference between. Again, Tottenham are a good side,
but there's a golf between what Arsenal and Man City
are right now. I believe Arsenal are not going to
throw it. They've given up two goals this entire league season.
Tottenham gave up three in one half. They're not going

(47:42):
to just all of a sudden give up three goals
in what unless some confluence of events happens. So what
I'm thinking is this may be kind of a premonition
of things to come. But then you look back at
the United match and the great things that they did.
But then again, it was against a struggling United side.

(48:04):
So does it lie in in the first performance, or
does it lie in the first half performance against against Brighton,
or does it lie in the second half performance? You
know what, Brett, I think it's somewhere in the middle,
which is where we thought it would be all along.
They're capable of putting on a performance where they beat
a top side. We saw it last year when when
they competed against City. You know, you know, they didn't

(48:27):
get a result against Arsenal, but the year before they
the year before they drew them, right, they got to
draw against them, and then they beat them two years ago.
But they're capable of certainly beating anybody, and they're capable
of losing to anybody, which is why it's a roller
coaster for you. I think Chelsea has certainly stabilized in

(48:48):
the way that you know that match against Forrest. I mean,
Melena put it perfectly like you know, Forrest is not
I don't think Forrest are going to get relegated the
way I've seen them kind of start the year. I
see other teams like Ipsware which and maybe even at
Everton at this point perhaps getting getting relegated. But Forrest
is certain.

Speaker 4 (49:08):
Defense in the league.

Speaker 1 (49:09):
What's that they had the third best defense in the league. Yes, yeah, yeah,
so they've they've played really well, uh and certainly have
have grinded out some results, especially away from home, including
at at Stanford Bridge. But again just back to Tottenham,
like I again, the the inconsistencies, I didn't I'm not

(49:29):
saying that they're okay, I'm not saying that they're that
because that would be just stupid to say, because they're
clearly a quality side. But when it comes to putting
in the consistent performances, this is what you're gonna get,
and you're gonna just get a box of chocolates where
it does you don't know that the the by half

(49:49):
or by game what what you're gonna get. Look at
the dominant way you said it was a top five
win for you when you won at Manchester United, it
was one way traffic and they could have scored three
or four more. But then you look at the second
half last this week and it was a complete and
utter capitulation. So again it's somewhere in the middle and
you're just gonna have to live with that, and hopefully
for your sake, Brett, you find a way into perhaps

(50:11):
that you know, Cup win and getting into that maybe
third or fourth spot and streaming and maybe somebody has
it off year like a Liverpool and maybe Malina's team
can help with that. This sad be nice.

Speaker 3 (50:26):
Couple things you talked about conceded goals and Malina mentioned
it nodding. Forrest does have the second best the goals
conceded per match point nine for Forrest. That's also tied
with Arsenal as well. Point nine. Spurs are the fifth
best right now, one point one goals proceeded conceded per match.

(50:46):
So it's not like we're we're you know, just flooding
in the goals and letting in a bunch of stupid chances.
I'll say this and last thing on Spurs, not the podcast,
just what I'm saying right now. For performance wise, I
can count ninety minutes plus a half that were just

(51:07):
awful performances this year terrible, the whole game against Coventry
in the Cup, terrible start to finish, and then that
second half at Brighton were awful. Performance wise. I think
Spurs are really good every other second that they've played
outside of that, I really do, And I don't think
the results are showing that, and it's just going to

(51:28):
take determination to stick with that despite the results not
coming and Brennan Johnson keep scoring. He's the best. I
do want to mention that with you here because you,
I think mentioned it that like he's getting rip by
his own fans, which was true. It was never me
and Robbie can attest with that. I am a Brennan
Johnson hipster. I loved him even before that happened, so

(51:51):
could never be me. No, and is the best. I
love him to the pieces. I'd take a bullet for him,
probably not literally, but you know you get my point. Yeah,
you get what I'm saying. Last thing, because we've gone
on for a very long time. Besides Liverpool Chelsea, which
I think is the biggest learning game, I like City

(52:14):
and Wolves because they're just going to dominate. It's going
to be the best. Oh another thing too, and I
know we got to go. You tweeted out. Another one
of your receipts that I wanted to bring up was
that Arsenal have taken the spot of Man City as
the most boring team to watch.

Speaker 4 (52:27):
Your thoughts, I just I just think it's so boring,
like every game like you guys are they're great at corners,
that's amazing. But every game is like watching an Arsenal
training session where they're focusing on corners, and I just
think that's so boring. And if you're a fan of Arsenal,
you don't really care because like, you're winning, so why
it doesn't matter what a just fan thinks, you know.

(52:49):
But two years ago I really did enjoy watching Arsenal
play because it was like just really dynamic and stuff
like that. Now it's now it isn't and that's fine.
Like you're they're winning, so that's what matters. Doesn't matter
if it's entertaining or not.

Speaker 1 (53:03):
There's a certain there's a certain player that's been missing
for a little while, and he goes by the name
of Martin Odegard and he's probly your top five to
ten player in the Premier League. I would say, right, okay,
So I would say that he pulls the strings and

(53:25):
he creates magic, and when he is playing, things are
more quote unquote free flowing. Declan sits back. I don't
have Declan and Party clogging up things in the midfield.
Nobody knows where to go, and that's why they're so
good defensively because they both like to sit back. I'd
prefer if Declan went forward more, but they don't give
him that much rain. I hope in future seasons they'll

(53:47):
be able to get another defensive mid so that he
can use it. I mean, he's scored a great game
winner last year. I believe it was against United, but
oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, in the in the last
in the minutes. So I just think that you'll see
a more exciting brand of football. Yes they are great

(54:08):
on corners, Yes they are great on set pieces, but
I go back to the days of the last days
of the Wenger era when they were the worst in
the Premier League at defending cort They were so bad
at defending corner it was awful. They'd give up one
every single game. So now the shoes on the other foot,

(54:29):
and I'm enjoying all this set piece stuff. And you
know what, they hired a set piece coach. Now I
don't know how many Premier League teams have it, but
he is paying off in spades. They score on set pieces,
like you said all the time, and yes it may
be boring, boring arsenal, but you know what, with order
guard back and maybe some additions in the in the

(54:51):
transfer window. They're looking at maybe Leroy Sane, which would
be an unbelievable adro from Germany. I mean to bring
him back into England. I mean he would provide some
spice to the final third. So we'll see. Right now,
Jay Susan Sterling didn't give them a lot. You saw
what happened when they took them off the pitch and
brought on Martinelli immediately scored some goals. So like your squad,

(55:15):
they have a lot of options to go to and
I think moving forward they're going to play a more
exciting brand, especially when they get the big O back.

Speaker 3 (55:23):
That we've gone on long enough. Thank you so much, Maline,
thank you.
