six decrees in Boston at four o'clock. Good afternoon, I'm
Ben Parker. Here's what's happening. Here comes Labor Day weekend,
a nice three day weekend. If you were counting on
today to make it a four day weekend, count again.

We are still going to be tracking this cold front
for the rest of the afternoon through the evening hours,
and a nice dowsing of some of those heavier rain
showers right as we get to the sunset hour later
on this evening. Some of the heaviest rain could he
be anywhere between a half inch up to an inch
of rain. Not everybody who's going to receive some of
those heavy downpours.

And CBS News Boston meteorologist Jason Michael, He's right, not
everybody got rainy downpour. Some folks got hailed this afternoon.
There were some pretty naturally storms that rumbled through it.
There are still some out on the radar, so we'll
be keeping an eye to the sky as we go
through the afternoon and evening hours around these parts. President
Trump's revoked Secret Service protection for Kamala Harris, a senior

typically only have a detail for six months.

President Trump on Thursday revoked secret Service protection for former
Vice President Kamala Harris starting in September. That's according to
a copy of a memo sent to the Secretary of
Homeland Security reviewed by ABC News that authorizes DHS to
discontinue security related procedures for Harris. Former President Biden extended
Harris's protective detail an additional year on top of the

six months she's required by law to have a Secret
Service detail as the former vice president. That's according to
multiple officials Karen Travers ABC News the White House.

President Trump telling the House Speaker he's rescinding nearly five
billion dollars in foreign aid. Details from CBS's Lynda Kenyon.

President Trump says he will not be spending the funds
previously approved by Congress using a wear process known as
a pocket precision. It sends the request to Congress or
the end of the fiscal year, and since lawmakers can't
act on that request within a forty five day window,
the funds go unspent anyway. Republican Senator Susan Collins, who
chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee of sounding the alarm over

without its approval quote an attempt to undermine the law.

No bail for the man accused of killing a Shrewsbury
father following a confrontation over graffiti. Nahal Shivstava is accused
of shooting and killing Kevin Doherty, who had just dropped
off his six year old son at school yesterday morning.
CBS News Boston reports the suspect hid behind a door
and was arraigned in Westboro District Court today on several charges.
A funeral today for Judge Frank Kapriole, the retired Rhode

Island municipal judge, became famous online on the show Caught
in Providence. The judge was known for and went viral
for dismissing tickets and showing kindness even as he handed
out justice.

Judge Caaprio a man who lived that hope so beautifully.

Throughout his life.

He founded his hope on the faith, hope, and love
that he received from his parents.

Ge DiCaprio retired from the bench in twenty twenty three.
He died last week at the age of eighty eight.
We do have some storm still down to the south,
moving to the north and east, so into Connecticut and
Rhode Island. We've got some storms. They could make their
way if they march carefully into Boston a little bit
later on. There are some storms off to the west

as well. The heaviest one right along four ninety five
out toward the Bolten area. Maybe a little bit of
some downpour activity, could be a little hail and wind
in that one as well. Most of the other stuff
is just you know, runder the mill kind of rain
and maybe a mixed in Downport. Another one up toward Lowell,
another one back toward Conquered in Carlisle, and then Kate
Bann's getting a little bit of rain right now. Some

of that could be a little bit heavier. There are
these scattered cells around and it's really part of a
line that stretches from just about Long Island all the
way up to Canada. So it's a pretty long line
pushing off to the north and east, and it'll eventually
push its way on out of here, leave us with
some sunshine for the three day weekend. That's left Tomorrow

and Sunday and Monday, temperatures mainly in the seventies. Right
now it is sixty eight degrees in Boston. And hold on,
they're coming. It's the big movie in weekend in Boston.
Ten to thousands of college students returning to college. City
officials holding their annual news conference in Alston, welcoming students

and reminding them of some of the rules and rigs.

be live music, art and food later in the day

just go to the Campfire Festival in Cambridge, a multi
