controller shortage, equipment outages, and an ongoing construction for weeks,
leading to many delays and cancelations. ABC's Sam Sweeney says

the agency has proposed reducing the number of takeoffs and
landings per hour from forty to twenty eight.

The major US airlines have been meeting with the FAA
over the last three days to come up with some
sort of a temporary fix for Newark Airport, and the
only thing they can really do is cut back the
number of flights. That will help reduce some of the
congestion and free up some of the airspace availability on
the one runway that is operating there while the other

is under construction until June fifteenth.
