News, reigning, and sixty two degrees in Boston at four
o'clock at afternoon. I'm Suzanne Soasville. Here's what's happening. A
new ICE operation is underway here in Boston. Wbz's Sherry
Small has the details.

It's being dubbed Patriot two point zero. Homeland Security claims
the effort is aimed at what it calls the worst
of the worst illegal immigrants. The New York Times reports
of the operation began late last week and is expected
to last several weeks and will extend beyond Boston into
some suburbs. Now this comes on the heels of the
Justice Department suing Boston last week, challenging the city's Trust Act,

which limits local police cooperation with federal immigration agents. Boston
Mayor Michelle who singled out by Homeland Security accused of
harboring criminals with sanctuary policies. Back in March, ICE arrested
three hundred and seventy immigrants in Massachusetts. In May, it
arrested nearly fifteen hundred more statewide. Sherry Small, WBC Boston's news.

Demonstrators protested in Washington, d C. Saturday, angry about National
Guard troops deployed to the city food. President Trump's defended
the deployment Friday night, saying crime in the nation's capital
has plummeted.

It was the most unsafe city anywhere in the country,
our capital, and after twelve days it became known as
a safe city.

President Trump has threatened to send National Guard troops to
more US cities, including Chicago, Baltimore, and New Orleans. A
tornado touches down in cent Mass during severe storms that
hit much of the state yesterday afternoon. CBS News Boston
Samantha Cheney has more.

Saturday night, the National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touchdown
in Holding.

As I headed from my back rone to go down Cellar,
I could see the branches falling as aard crossed in
front of my window.

damage on her property.

Official say the tornado couldn't be seen by the naked
eye and only actually touched down for a short period
of time.

I was very much hoping for the best, and I
have to tell you I feel extremely blessed.

It was long enough, though for some to worry.

Things could have ended a lot worse, but luckily.

The tornado touchdown and holding at around four yesterday afternoon,
and the forecasts partly cloudy overnight with a low of
fifty seven, a mix of sun and clouds tomorrow with
lower humidity, a high of seventy four on Tuesday, sunny
but turning a bit cooler with highs approaching seventy. Mostly

sunny on Wednesday, with a high of just sixty seven,
and looking ahead sunny on Thursday with highs in the seventies.
Right now in Boston it's raining and sixty two degrees.
The MBTA announcing fair checks will begin across the t
system tomorrow. Wbz's Charlie bergeron with the story.

Tea riders who have been avoiding paying their fair share
are about to see that train leave the station. It
was back in October of twenty twenty four that the
MBTA hired and trained sixteen fair engagement representatives to answer
rider questions about fares, and within the first several weeks,
fair collections increased as much as thirty five percent at

stations where new fair Engagement representatives were on site. These
representatives will be located at subway station faregates and on
board vehicles to assure riders pay they're fair. Staff will
issue written warnings and citations. If riders choose not to pay,
a warning is issued without a fine. If you don't
pay your fare on a trip following a warning, you'll

get a citation with a fine, which could be as
high as one hundred and fifty dollars. Charlie Burger on

A major two car crash in Attleborough overnight. Fire officials
say they were called to I ninety five North just
after one am. A mail driver was freed from one
of the vehicles and taken to the hospital with life
threatening injuries. Firefighters say they found the other vehicle fully
engulfed in flames under an overpass after it had rolled

over and hit a bridge support. The driver of that
car was able to get out herself before first responders arrived,
and suffered only minor injuries. The crash had shut down
ninive in Attleborough for several hours. A new initiative in
the Ocean State enlists some college staff in an effort

to help save lives. CBS's Jim Krisula explains.

A new law in Rhode Island requires college resident advisors
to be trained on using overdose tools like the lock zone.
Ellen Reynolds is vice president of Student Affairs at the
University of Rhode Island.

We want everyone to be prepared.

Resident advisor ramiz Rick has had training of the use
of the lock zone three times.

I think it's pretty easy prive to use, which is
one of the great things about it. I feel pretty confident.

Only fifteen percent of college students have received the lock
zone training, according to a recent study. Jim Crisula, CBS News, Providence,

Some undocumented students who've been paying in state tuition rates
to attend college are now being charged out of state rates.

Now that a federal judge has overturned the bipartisan two
thousand and one Texas Dream Act, undocumented students, some of
whom have lived in the state since they were children,
are now being charged the same amount as non residents.
For this woman who was brought to the state by
her parents when she was a month old. That means
being forced to drop out of the University of North Texas.

I had to do what I had to do, and
I had to leave.

Until the judge's order. She'd been debt free because of
aid from scholarships. She's now attending a community college. Christopher Cruz,
