There are multiple reports out today that the Patriots are downsizing,
at least when it comes to ownership. Under an NFL
private equity policy. The team plans to sell eight percent
of the franchise. Robert Kraft and his family have held
all of the team's ownership since buying it for just
one hundred and seventy million dollars. A little more than
that actually in nineteen ninety four. Patriots now value that

(03:04):
some nine billion dollars. This will all be subject to
NFL owners at their upcoming meeting next month. We've had
a bit of rain today. That may be an understatement.
We had some pretty heavy downpours. Certainly earlier today. South
coast South Shores gotten some heavy rain. Everybody's gotten a
little bit of heavy rain, just a little heavier than others.
There have been some flooding concerns, but no major problems.

(03:26):
Just some of those poor drainage areas streets that don't
drain properly have seen a bit of a problem with
big puddles. We may be out of the woods on
that now as the rain is still heavy in spots,
but it's going to start to fade, and we do
have some openings in the precipitation all breaking up out
into western mass back down into Connecticut. So there's a
light at the end of the tunnel. Unfortunately you won't

(03:47):
see that light till tomorrow when the sun breaks out.
Some heavier rain showers just to the east of Worcester,
so along the four ninety five stretch out toward the
Marlborough and Westboro area. There've been some heavier showers out
of north central Massachusetts as well, and even closer to town.
We've got a few pockets of heavier precipitation out toward
the one twenty eight belt around Deadham and need them

(04:09):
and Wellesley. We'll continue to watch this, but most of
this is just going to keep pushing off to the
east and eventually get on out of here. So later tonight,
just a couple of leftover showers sixty seven for the
low temperature. Clouds will break for some sun It'll be
warmer tomorrow. That's that light at the end of the tunnel.
By the way that I mentioned. The temperature is tomorrow
about eighty with that sunshine, and then lots of light
at the end of the tunnel on Saturday and Sunday,

(04:30):
plenty of sunshine. Not terribly warm, but fall like first
weekend to fall after all, low to mid seventies. Right now,
it is sixty seven degrees in Boston. Over a dozen
shops taking part in a state wide effort to stitch
together a community. Wbz's Jay Willette with details.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
There's bar crawls and then there's the Greater Boston Yarn Crawl.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Shoppers, knitters, crocheers, fiber enthusiasts go from every store and
they get stamps for a past pour.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
It's just like a fun way to brought in your
knitting community.

Speaker 5 (05:01):
The Boston Fiber Company in the South End is taking
part among fifteen shops. Owner Sarah Engel says it's about
knitters finding a new space to go spool shopping. I
got a lot of stuff for sweaters. You may have
heard about it on New England Weekend and here it
is from now until Sunday. This tight knit community can
surf around the shops and get a passport stamp at
each At the end of the line, what's the reward.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Depending on how many places you go. You can be
entered into a drawing for a gift card and you
get a gift card wallet. So it's gift cards from
every shop.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
In the South End. Jay will EDBZ Boston's news radio.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
I think a lot of people think I do knitting.
They keep calling me a knit wit. I don't know
what that means. If a picture of pants a thousand words,
you're going to need five pictures to keep up with
Merriam Webster. Their collegiate dictionary is getting five thousand new words,
and it's about time.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
This twelfth edition is the first update of the hard
copy book in twenty two years. The new words include.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Doomscroll, dash cam, adulting, side I, and dumb phone.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
A cell phone that doesn't include advanced features like email
or an Internet browser. The new dictionary weighs in at
five pounds. Merion Webster says it still sells one and
a half million copies a year. It says some people
just love books. The new version will be released November eighteenth.
