Speaker 1 (01:44):
Trooper Proctor's firing came after a suspension that had come
shortly after Karen Reid's first murder trial in twenty twenty four.
Text messages about Reid came to light during the trial,
revealing that he'd made numerous inappropriate comments and jokes about
the defendant while serving as the investigator in the case.
A lawsuit against all fifteen federal judges in Maryland has

(02:04):
been dismissed by a federal judge. The suit, brought by
the Trump administration was over an order by the chief
judge that stopped the immediate deportation of migrants challenging their removals.
US District Judge Thomas Cullen today granted a request by
those judges to toss the case, saying to do otherwise
would offend the rule of law. Cullin was nominated by
President Trump. He serves in Virginia, but was tapped to

(02:26):
oversee this case because of all the Maryland federal judges
being named as defendants. American consumers are feeling a bit
less confident these days.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
The Consumer Confidence index was down one point three percent
in August. That's more of a move than what economists
were predicting. It also erases some gains from July, then
continues a trend of declining consumer confidence that economists have
observed since the beginning of the year. Those experts look
to consumer spending, which accounts for about two thirds of
America's economic activity, as a bellweather for the larger economy.

WBZ ACCU weather forecast a pretty decent stretch of weather today.
Started it off with low humidity, temperatures getting into the
upper seventies. That's pretty much where we sit in most
places now. A few places did tickle the low eighties,
and then we will have a very nice night. Tonight

(03:43):
we cleared partly cloudy. Sky's sixty in Boston, fifties in
the coolest inland suburbs. A pleasant day Tomorrow, times of
clouds and sun. Temperatures upper seventies, upper seventies again on Thursday,
with low humidities and sun and afternoon clouds. Friday, some
clouds get in here underneath the sunshine and maybe bring
us a shower or two. Temperatures low seventies. Right now

(04:03):
it is seventy seven degrees in Boston. Well, maybe this
is strange in your mind, but movies are hitting an
interesting venue, the cemetery in this case of the b
c's Carl Stephens tells us Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge
tonight we'll be home to an outdoor movie theater.

Speaker 6 (04:19):
Talk about a unique place to see a double feature
Mount Auburn Cemetery, not far from the main entrance to
this historic one hundred and seventy five acre resting place
for so many. Matthew Stevens is president of the Cemetery.

Speaker 7 (04:31):
Yes, we have Cemetery Cinema, which is a partnership with
Coolidge Theater where we put and host a actually two
full length feature films in the historic landscape of Mount
Auburn Cemetery.

Speaker 6 (04:45):

Speaker 1 (05:01):
I don't know, perhaps they should have thought this through better.
Cracker Barrel shot itself in the foot with their new
logo and branding now. One marketing expert says the writing
may have been on the wall or the Barrel.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Business strategist Kathleen Griffin says she's not surprised by the
outcry over the cracker Barrel logo change.

Speaker 8 (05:18):
A brand can absolutely go too far in trying to
become relevant. A lot of times they're trying to go
to a hip, young branding agency, and so they'll go
to something that ends up feeling really generic, almost soulless.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
The Country practically erupted at the new more generic logo
that gets rid of the old man playing checkers on
the cracker barrel and eliminated the phrase old country store.
Cracker Barrel says it could have done a better job
with the logo rollout. Cherry preston ABC News, are.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
You out of your gord? Well, I guess not. You
may be in your gourd if gord flavored coffee is
your thing. Pumpkin spice lattes back on the menu at Starbucks,
the coffee giant calling the fall Fai i'veard its most
popular seasonal beverage of all time. The drinks also holding
steady in price, which runs anywhere from five to seventy
five to seven twenty five at most locations, depending on

the size. And that's not all other seasonal favorites are
coming back to the coffee chain, and many other companies
are or have already rolled out. Fall Duncans out with
some newbies and back with their Pumpkin spice iced signature latte,
getting ready for a punkin onslaught for the next several months.
