Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is WBZY, Boston's news radio, redefining local.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
News fifty six degrees in Boston at four o'clock. Good afternoon,
I'm Ben Parker. Here's what's happening. Today is day thirty
six of the federal government shutdown. It is now officially
the longest one ever. Talks behind the scenes continue while
out in front, federal workers wait, and so do SNAP
recipients who still aren't sure what's next for their food assistance.

(00:29):
The President yesterday threatened to cut off more food aid,
but his spokeswoman says the administration is releasing the funds
in line with court orders. Massachusetts Governor more heally just
wants the money to flow again. Let me just tell you,
Donald Trump is once again choosing to starve Americans. He
was ordered by the court to fund SNAP the other day,
and he came back and he said.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
I'm only going to fun half of it.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Which is a joke.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
As for the shutdown, some senators are hopefully it can
end this week. Democrats, though, we're holding firm on demands
to save healthcare subsidies. President Trump say the US has
the greatest economy right now. He said it during a
speech to business leaders in Miami. The President speaking at
the America Business Forum, He says a lot of people
don't see his victories on the economy because there's a

(01:12):
communication issue. He also says that America lost its sovereignty
when Democrats swept elections across the country. Yesterday, Miami's Mayor
Francis Suarez handed the President the key to his potential
presidential library in that city, with the President calling the
key a great honor. California Republicans are suing over a
new voter approved House map it favors Democrats.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
Hours after California voters overwhelmingly approved a plan to allow
the redrawing of congressional districts to favor Democrats. Now California
Republicans have filed a federal lawsuit claiming the new congressional
maps would be unconstitutional because they used race as a
factor in drawing the lines. An attorney behind the lawsuit
predicts will go to the US Supreme Court. Republicans were
previously unsuccessful at stopping the vote. Governor Gavin NEWSOM'SAFAIUS predicts

(01:58):
the lawsuit will fain. Alec Stone ABC News Los Angeles.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
At least nine are dead in Louisville after a UPS
plane goes down while taking off and bursts into flames.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
First responders continue searching for more victims at the site
of a UPS plane crash near the Louisville, Kentucky Airport.
Several people still have not heard from family and friends
who work in the area. The death toll is expected
to increase.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Last night, I was at the family Reunification Center and
there are more families than that that are still looking
for loved ones right now.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg spoke to CBS News Jim Krysulla
CBS News.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
And today, the NTSB says that cargo planes left wing
caught fire and the engine fell off just before the
fiery crash, add rent them to the list of communities
complying with the controversial MBTA Communities Act. It requires zoning changes.
As an incident of tom meeting this week almost unanimously
supporting new zoning districts to encourage multi family housing. Sun

(02:57):
Chronicle reports Monday night, and overwhelming majority already of those
in attendants voted for the new zoned districts, with only
a handful dissenting. The districts developed a total about fifty
eight acres. Several hundred units would be allowed in that area.
You have a high wind watch. It goes into effect
at ten o'clock tonight. The winds will start to pick
up as we go through the evening, mostly cloudy, maybe
a shower or two, mainly in the forties, and those

(03:20):
wind gusts that's going to be the big deal tonight,
fifty mile an hour wind gusts maybe higher than that.
Capean Islands will probably get the highest wind gusts, but
we could be dealing with some downtrees and power lines,
so something to bear in mind as we go through
the evening. Blustery. Tomorrow, it'll be a chilly day fifty three,
feeling like it's in the forties, more sun than clouds,
though mostly clear. Tomorrow night, those in the thirties, and

(03:41):
then on Friday, sun followed by clouds and yeah, some
more wind. Temperatures in the mid fifties with a couple
of showers. Friday night will stay wet at least early
Saturday morning with some clouds in a shower or two,
and then afternoon sunshine Saturdays high in the low sixties.

top officials at the convention center bearing his name with
new signs unveiled.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
The new signage gets prominence to the one hundred and
ninety three thousand square foot building's full name, John B.
Hines Veterans Memorial Center. The late mayor's grandson, John Hines
the Third says his grandfather would.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Approve if it were the John B.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Hines Convention Center without the Veterans, he would not be policed.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
He was a veteran first.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Heins Ud veiled the new sign alongside Governor Moore Healey,
who told the assembled crowd that the timing just ahead
of Veterans Day was particularly appropriate.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
It's a time where we reflect on the service of
our veterans and all of their sacrifice, and.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
I'll say it's something that we should reflect on every day.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
The center has had it's current name since nineteen eighty eight.
It was first called the War Memorial Auditorium when it
opened in nineteen sixty five from the back bay Kendall,
built to be a busy Boston's News.

may receive the award. Stacy Lynn, CBS News Washington.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
PG thirteen has been a rating for movies for years now,
and the Motion Picture Association says that's where it belongs.
Instagram's being ordered to stop using PG thirteen to describe
its new teen accounts. The parent company Meta was recently
sent a season assist letter over the use of the rating.
The motion picture folks claim the new setting guided by
the PG thirteen rating is literally false and highly misleading.

(05:59):
The sociation says Instagram can't be aligned with the rating
system because it doesn't use the same curated process and
instead heavily relies on artificial intelligence. They argue any dissatisfaction
with the Instagram's settings would cause the public to question
the integrity of the movie rating system. You are now
