Sunny Sky's forty eight degrees in the city at eleven
o'clock on this Sunday morning. It's November two. Hello, thanks
for being with us. I'm Sherry Small. Let's get you
caught up with news now. Here's what's happening. Harvard police
searching for suspects and trying to uncover a motive after
an explosion was set off early yesterday morning at the
medical school. WBC's Nicole Davis with Moore.

Harvard University police say it happened just after two forty
five in the morning inside the Goldenson Building on Longwood
Avenue in Boston. They say an officer responded to the
building for a fire alarm and they saw two people
running out of the building. The officer reportedly chasing after
the pair, but couldn't catch them. Police say the officer
then went inside and on the fourth floor found the
remains of an explosion. The Boston Fire Arson Unit came

investigated and determined the explosion was like an intentional one.
It's not clear what kind of device went off in
the building. No other devices were found so far, no
word on a motive. It appears nobody was hurt. If
you have any information, you're asked to call Boston or
Harvard University Police. Nicole Davis WBZ, Boston's news radio.

Amid the ongoing government shutdown, SNAP ran out of money
over the weekend in Mathuin. Neighbors are trying to soften
the blow for those who depend on food assistance. Here's
CBS News Boston's Paul Burton.

From baby foods to breads, fruits and vegetables. The Senior
Center transformed into a SNAP food drive for residents who
need assistance.

It's very kind of limp to be doing this.

As SNAP benefits expired on Saturday due to the government shutdown,
Folks who depend on the supplemental Nutrition Assistance program known
as SNAP are struggling to put food on the table,
which is why the city is stepping into help.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
You know, with the questions around SNAP benefits, We've heard
from a lot of people that they were worried about
getting food on the table in the next few weeks.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Families like this single mother of seven who wants to
remain anonymous.

Speaker 5 (02:08):

I'm a single mom.

I work more than forty hours a week, which is
simm team for my kids.

So this is actually a huge hope.

And on Friday of Boston federal judge said that Trump
administration must have into the contingency funds to make at
least partial payments to SNAP during the government shutdown, saying
that the president's plan to stop paying SNAP benefits was unlawful.
That same day, Rhode Island federal judge ordered the US
Department of Agriculture to distribute money owed to SNAP recipients

as soon as possible. The White House now has until
tomorrow to tell the court its plans. And now the

Right now, we have forty eight in Amherst, in Wooster,
forty four degrees, forty eight in Framingham's take a look
at Gloucester up on the north shore, forty eight degrees,
forty eight down on the south shore, south coast in
Quinsy and Plymouth, and then it looks like we're averaging

forty eight degrees on the cape as well in the
city right now sunny and forty eight degrees at eleven
oh five. Back to news now at two day celebration
in Cambridge honors loved ones on the Day of the Dead.

Elda Delbware Today or Day of the Dead, is actually
a two day celebration of the lives of loved ones
who've died. It's origin is in Mexico, but it lives
on around the world.

Speaker 6 (04:10):
The soul doesn't die, it's always alive, and every year
on Day of the Dead it comes back, the souls
of loved ones, their spirits come back, and that's why
we create an altar.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
Abby Sanduble Fossil of Harvard's PbD Museum says the altar
is filled with things to welcome the dead back to
the land of the living.

Speaker 7 (04:30):
So the flowers of Sanbasuchi, the fragrance helps guide them,
the food, the smells, everything is connected to the smells,
the music. That is all meant to help guide the
spirits to where they're supposed to come visit us. And
then the food gives them suessenance to make the journey
back to the world of the dead.
