So many young students out and about. Again, this is
an area where you see kids walking all of the
time back and forth between that coffee shop, some younger
kids there along that sidewalk nearby. This is unprecedented really
in terms of the past I would say decade of
what I've seen in this particular area, normally a quiet spot. Again, schools,

(01:07):
grocery stores, churches right in that area. And Governor Tim
Walls confirming now just moments ago.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Wall's confirming that the state patrol is on the scene.
He adds he's praying for our kids and teachers whose
first week of school has been marred by this horrific
act of violence.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
This is ABC News, and like many Catholic schools, there
is a church right next door. Police in Minneapolis now
say the shooting happened inside the church while the students

trust in the integrity of the criminal justice system. A
lawyer for Tompkins maintains the sheriff is actually going on

(02:04):
medical leave, claiming he's dealing with a quote challenge resulting
from a serious medical issue. Special Sheriff Mark Lawhorn will
take over in the interim, and more than a dozen
FEMA employees have been put on leave after criticizing the
Trump administration in an open letter to Congress.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
About one hundred and eighty current and former staffers at
the Federal Emergency Management Agency signed an open letter Monday
announcing the agency's leadership and arguing that the current leaders
and experience could result in a major disaster. The Washington

letters saying they were on an administrative leave, effective immediately.

Proctor returning to the force, who's fired for his conduct
as lead investigator in the care read case. There is
a chance you could see some showers out there again today.
We're watching some north and west of Boston. At this point.

(03:07):

the most part. Highs in the upper seventies, with a
couple again of spotty showers and storms throughout the evening,
but certainly not consistent for tonight, mostly clear, low near
fifty eight to sixty on the coast near fifty. If
you're inland, for tomorrow, mix of sun and clouds in
a high in the mid upper seventies, and then on Friday,

(03:28):

a couple of showers, maybe a thunderstorm, and a high

are learning a bit more now about possibly the most
high profile engagement of the year. Your CBS is Debor Rodriguez.

you at the news. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelcey are
getting hitched. While we found out yesterday, the tight end's
dad is spilling the beans on when it actually happened.
Ed Kelsey reveals his son was going to pop the
question this week, but he says Swift was getting antsy,

(04:14):
so he moved it up and got down on one knee.
There could be significance in the date of the actual announcement.
It was thirteen days after Swift's appearance on the Kelsey
Brothers August thirteenth announcement. She's long said her lucky number
is thirteen. Deborah Rodriguez, CBS News.
