Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is WBT, Boston's news radio, redefining local news.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Sixty nine degrees and Sonny at eleven o'clock in Boston.
Good morning, I'm Kyle Bray. Here's what's happening. Happening right
now in Washington, DC, hundreds of people are gathered on
Capitol Hill demanding justice for the survivors of sex abuse
by Jeffrey Empstein and Galline Maxwell. Some of those survivors
(00:31):
are speaking out and sharing their stories for the first
time publicly. Here's Anushka to Georgio.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
The days of sweeping this under the rug are over.
We the survivors, say no more.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
I want to help create a.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
World where survivors of sexual abuse and abuse of power
can come forward safely, and I ask Congress to join
me in that effort.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Brad Edwards is a lawyer representing the survivors. He says
he's seen the files and you should too.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
While we have seen the documents, you have it and
when you see the documents, you're going to be appalled,
and the American people deserve to see everything.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Some members of Congress are trying to force a vote
to release the Epstein files in what's called a discharge petition.
All Democrats have signed it, so have four Republicans. If
two more Republicans sign on, it will force a vote
despite any objections from the House Speaker. Survivors and relatives
of the victims of Maine's deadliest mass shooting are suing
the government and the military for negligence. The lawsuit argues
(01:29):
the government and military ignored clear warning signs about the
Lewiston gunman Army reservist Robert Card, saying they knew Card
was paranoid, delusional, and violent that the army failed at
every turn. Last year, a state commission found the Army,
Reserve and local police failed by letting Card keep his
arsenal of weapons, even though his family, friends, and colleagues
reported he was threatening to commit a mass shooting. Cards
(01:52):
shot and killed eighteen people at a bowling alley at
a bar in grill and Lewiston, Maine, back in October
of twenty twenty three, before taking his own life two
days later. Another legal hurdle for President Trump's immigration agenda,
a federal appeals court ruled the president cannot use an
eighteenth century wartime law to speed up the deportations of
alleged Venezuelan gang members. The president used the Alien Enemies
(02:15):
Act of seventeen ninety eight to deport people that he
said were part of the Trende Aragua gang to a
notorious prison in El Salvador. Panel says the gang is
not a legitimate target of the law that's only ever
been used three times in history, all during declared wars.
The case is likely bound for the Supreme Court. President
Trump says he's taking his tariff agenda before the nation's
(02:36):
highest court, and ABC's Mary Bruce reports.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
The President is saying that he is going to ask
the Supreme Court as soon as today to overturn a
federal appeals Court decision that found many of his punishing
tariffs were illegal, saying he's going to ask them for
an expedited ruling. Trump claims that the US economy will
suffer if he's not allowed to impose these tariffs and
wage his trade war, but the Federal Appeals Court found
(02:59):
that the president's greatly overstepped his authorities.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
This all centers around the tariffs President Trump imposed under
the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The terriffs will remain
in place at least through October fourteenth, while the Trump
administration files its appeal. It's time now for the four

tied to the trend Air Ragua gang, which Trump claims
