time two thirds of its occasions on the first day

(01:03):
of school yesterday, which not only hits an all time high.
It doubles what many critics say was a sloppy performance
on the first day of school last year. President Trump
is ready to give his executive sharpie a run for
its money today with an order to call for the
renaming of the Department of Defense. It's back to the
future time at the Pentagon, as the President will host

(01:23):
a signing ceremony to deliver on a promise to bring
back the original Department of War name. The President cannot
do this formally without the approval of Congress, so in
the meantime, he will allow the Pentagon to use Department
of War as a secondary reference, but in a primary capacity.
The Department of War was established at the nation's formation

(01:44):
and abandoned right after World War II. Former President Joe
Biden recovers this morning from cancer surgery. Mister Biden had
a skin cancer lesion removed from his forehead recently and
is expected to make a full recovery. This is not
the first bout with Basil Cell Carson, the former Commander
in Chief, had a lesion removed from his chest while
in office, but this does come months after mister Biden

Sunday afternoon in Foxborough. WBC's Drew mo'hollands is here. How
are you feeling. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
It's tricky, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
I like the quarterback. It's going to be an interesting
year after a tough year last year, and of course
this is a new regime. Jeff head coach Mike Varibel
keeping it simple.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
We just want to be good enough to take advantage
of bad football.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Like that's where we're going to start. We're undefeated right now,
focusing on the little things and the details. That's a
great place to start.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Yeah, good places.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
It sounds like a great place to start.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
I ask you both, eight and a half wins is
what Vegas has set for the over under. What do
you got?

Speaker 1 (03:17):
I think they make the playoffs this year.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Line of showers finally pulling off shore in much of
the region. It's still coming down though in portions of
the south shore and headed towards the Cape and Islands
this morning. But once we get through this, we'll be
in for a pretty decent day today, a summer makes
a little bit of a return.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Today.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
It's going to feel more like the season, as we're
going to see temperatures jumping into the eighties later on today.
It will be cooler, substantially cooler along the shoreline and
especially the Cape and Islands. These clouds that will be
with us for a good portion this morning will eventually
break up. We'll see some sunshine throughout the day, so
it's a beautiful Friday ultimately to end this abbreviated workweek.

(03:55):
Some patchy clouds in the picture. Overnight Tonight lows a
muggy sixty five to seventy. Tomorrow, it's going to be
hot with high temperatures in the mid eighties. The humidity
levels are still on their eyes. Will need to keep
another eye to the sky too, with some showers and
thunderstorm activity rumbling through the area late tomorrow afternoon. That
will bring a cold front our way, which means Sunday

(04:16):
will be much more refreshing. We've got a mix of
sun and clouds on the way to wrap up the weekend,
with high temperatures in the low seventies. Right now in
Boston it's sixty six and maybe a couple of rain
drops and especially some heavier rain south of Boston this morning.
It is six oh six on this Friday morning, A
big day in federal court for a former Boston City councilor.

Speaker 4 (04:36):

fate today before a federal judge, as she pleaded guilty

News The Justice Department takes aim at Boston and calls
the city the mayor, Boston Police and its commissioner into court,
unclaims its sanctuary city policies will interfere with federal immigration efforts.
This is a first of its kind case that puts
the city's eleven year old Boston Trust Act, which prohibits

(05:19):
local police from assisting federal agents in a roundup in
this spotlight. Mayor Michelle wou says, bring it, and she
will not back down from who we are or what
we stand for, and calls the lawsuit an attempt by
the White House to advance its own authoritarian agenda. Roll
up a sleeve if you want to. Governor Mari heely
sidesteps the Trump administration and says anyone who wants a

(05:42):
coronavirus vaccine booster shot in the Commonwealth can get one
and insurance will pay for it. The governor says she
will not let President Trump stand the way of a
healthy Massachusetts and no one will be denied vaccine access
because of cost. Health Commissioner Robbie Goldstein also gets the
keys to deter in which vaccinations in the future that
might be subject to a federal blockade will still be

(06:04):
available in Massachusetts. And something stinks these days in Gloucester.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
When you visit the shores of Gloucester, the smell of
rotten eggs may be the last thing you would expect,
but that's what locals have been reporting the culprit invasive
Japanese seaweed. The city says, a bunch of it washed
ashore and as it's decayed, it's released a rotten egg
like odor That can seem concerning, but it's all natural.
Last week's hurricane push the seaweed onto shore. That smell, however,

(06:31):
should fade away as the seaweed breaks down in Gloucester.
