and we're right back at it all of a sudden,

at twenty five degrees. In fact, we were likely a
few degrees higher overnight as a bitter blast continues to

Speaker 1 (03:07):
You remember it was just before Thanksgiving that we were
talking about a cold stretch of weather that was going
to be here right after the holiday. It was called
the polar Vortex, and it would last until mid December,
and it seems to be playing out according to plan,
as we are well aware. Walking out the door this morning.
It's twenty five right now in the city and these
(03:28):
are some of the highest temperatures we'll see for the
rest of the morning. In fact, the higher of the
temperatures occurred just after midnight. It's been dropping ever since
and we'll be steadily falling. We'll settle in the twenties
through much of the day today, but this morning we
might get a little bit colder in some areas as
the sun comes up. But this is certainly going to
be another blustery day with some mix of sun and clouds,
(03:50):
and again, highs will be in the twenties today, act
you weather real fields and the single digits and teens
throughout the day. It's going to continue to be cold,
with the air temperature in the single digits overnight. Tonight
and tomorrow will be a struggle to get to the
freezing mark. So the cold weather is actually going to
continue into Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday as well all this week.
In other words, we're looking attempts mainly in the thirties.
(04:10):
We might hit forty a day or two, but that's
just about it, and that is well below average for
this time of year. Right now in Boston twenty five
and let's call it partly cloudy skies here in the
city six oh five this Monday morning. A new survey
finds one in three of us in Massachusetts has at
least thought about leaving the Commonwealth in the last year.
Many say it's simply too expensive to live here.
Speaker 6 (04:31):
When I asked folks in Alston whether they think their
rent is reasonable or not, I noticed a common theme
for Boston.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
It's probably average, I think relative to the rest of
the city. I've got a bergain. I would say it's
average with what the area considers to be average.
Speaker 6 (04:45):
So even a good deal doesn't really feel like one.
The average rent in Boston, according to a Bloomberg report,
is just over three thousand dollars, but it's actually gone
down for the first time since twenty twenty one. Many units,
particularly in neighborhoods like Austin, are sitting vacant rates not
seen since the PAN. I think it's a step in
the right direction.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
Hopefully it can get lower because it's still really high.
As a student, cost of living is very important and
the fact that's gone down signals good things.
Speaker 6 (05:10):
From Alston Kyle Pray, WBC Boston's news radio.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Frustration likely awaits Boston Mayor Michelle Wu again today, when
state Senators will meet in an informal and session session
on Beacon Hill. Mayor would love for them to entertain
another home rule petition to bring some property tax relief
to city homeowners. The Senate leadership has given City Hall
the cold shoulder. It's not even on the agenda today.
(05:33):
The city's homeowners face another double digit property tax increase
next year, which on average means about a nine hundred
dollars bump. The Mayor's bid to shift some of the
burden to the city's business base failed last year, and
so far this year has zero traction. On Beacon Hill,
a gigantic merger, and the entertainment world remains in limbo.
(05:54):
This morning, after President Trump casts doubt on the more
than seventy billion dollar deal by Netflix. Should they be allowed.
Speaker 6 (06:01):
To buy Warner Brothers.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Well, that's a question. They have a very big market share,
and when they have Warner Brothers, you know that chair
goes up a lot. So I don't know that's going
to be here for some economists to tell. And also,
and I'll be involved in that decision too. President, speaking
on the red carpet ahead of the Kennedy Center honor as,
he stops short of an endorsement of the deal and
says the mega merger has a long way to go
to get regulatory approval from US officials and become a
(06:26):
done deal. And television gets ready to honor itself again.
The Golden Globe nominations are about to be announced.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
For TV the studio ahead of Cottinental.

It's the only job I've ever wanted, and the.
