We got some clouds and some fog in Boston's sixty
nine degrees at six o'clock. Good morning and welcome. I'm
Charlie Berger on Here's what's happening. President Trump, First Lady
Malania Trump met with rescue workers, survivors, and family members
who lost loved ones in the recent flooding in Curville, Texas.
The death toll more than one hundred and twenty one.

It's hard to believe the devastation.

President Trump and First Lady Milania Trump surveyed the destruction
Friday after catastrophic flooding swept through central Texas.

Our nation.

We mourned for every single life that was swept away
in the flood, and we prayed for the families that
are left behind.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Trump spoke about the victims, including those at Camp Mystic,
were at least twenty seven girl campers and counselors died
in the flash floods.

A lot of lives, a lot of young angels.

More than two thousand local, state, and federal workers are
involved in the search for victims, more than one hundred
seventy people still missing. A federal appeals court is thrown
out in an agreement that would have allowed accused September
eleventh mastermind Khalid Shikh Muhammad to plead guilty in a
deal sparing him the risk of execution for al Qaeda's

two thousand and one attacks. Yesterday's decision ends an attempt
to wrap up more than two decades of military prosecution.
Mohammad is accused of developing the plot to crash hijacked
airliners into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. One
other hijacked plane crashed in Pennsylvania. President Trump continues to
send messages to nations around the world saying they'll be

facing tariffs and now threatening Canada with a thirty five
percent levy, which has brought some pushback from Prime Minister
Mark Kearney, CBS News and money Watch corresponding, Kelly O'Grady, go.

Back to April, we had those eye popping rates than
the ninety day pause. These new letters seem to be
a negotiation tactic, a warning that if you're not going
to make concessions within the next few weeks, this is
your new reality.

In a social media post, Canadian Prime Minister Carneie said
Canada would continue to work toward a new trade framework
with the United States. West Nile virus detected in mosquito
samples yesterday in West Roxbury and Hyde Park. There are
no confirmed human cases of West Nile in the Boston area.

The Boston Public Health Commission reports the risk of transmissions
to humans as low. Over the past month. There have
also been positive samples reported in Chelsea, Barnstables, Swansea, Cambridge,
and Malden. Loneliness does not just impact your mental health,
it also impacts your physical health as well.

A study by Howard University looked at data on nearly
fifty thousand people in the US and found people who
reported always feeling lonely had five more days of or
physical health per month than people who said they were
never lonely. Lonely people also had a forty percent higher
rate of depression.

CBS's Michael George reporting, let's check the four day WBZ
act You weather forecast. Matt Rindy tells us today we'll
start with some clouds, some fog, but the day turns
out okay, some sunshine, some clouds, high seventy seven for Boston,

back into the sixties, more clouds than sun. Tomorrow, another

humid day with temperatures mid and upper seventies in Boston,
low eighties inland. Capan Islands will stay in the seventies. Monday, clouds, sun, warm, humid,
maybe a thunderstorm in the afternoon, high eighty. And then
Tuesday it warms up, gets more humid with sunshine. Temperatures
will be close to ninety sixty nine degrees right now

with clouds in Boston at six oh four, the City
of Cambridge taking safety precautions around the Riverview Condo complex
on Mount Auburn Street. Inspectors say it's set of collapsing
CBS News Boston's Tammi Matassa.

Starting next week, Mount Auburn and Spark streets around the
building will be closed until the building is demolished, and
two bus routes will be rerouted, leaving a lot of
questions just how.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Long it's going to take, and yeah, what the people
around here should accept.

Neighbors should expect the closure to last months, according to
the city.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
I think that's going to be pretty rough. That's going
to be in the hospitals, like right around the corner.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
The nice story building was crime real estate overlooking the
Charles River since the nineteen sixties. Many residents hoped they
could one day return, but the city says the condo
association concluded that fixing the building isn't feasible and it
will need to be taken down as soon.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
As possible, and two bus routes will also be re rooted.
The city says demolition won't start for a few months.
The hope is to get that building down later this year.
New details now on what went wrong before the Air
India crash last month. Former pilot and ABC News contributed
John Nance says a preliminary report from authorities in India

indicates that just three seconds after lift after takeoff, the
fuel cutoff switches for its engines went from the run
position to the cutoff position, causing a loss of engine thrust,
and that caused a disaster. Somebody turned the engines off,
and they would have known since these are two qualified pilots,
they would have known what the consequences were.

So either there was a mental aberration or it was purposeful.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
The June twelfth. Crash killed at least two hundred and
sixty people, including nineteen on the ground. There was just
one survivor. More details also emerging after a US bound
Delta flight from Spain was diverted to an unlikely landing location.
ABC's Matt rivers there was crying. You could hear people praying.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Delta flight one twenty seven, leaving Madrid, Spain, earlier this week,
headed to New York's JFK Airport, nearly three hundred passing
and crew on board, but a third of the way
into the flight, some passengers saying they heard a loud boom.
Everyone sort of looked at each other, like, did you
hear that?

What happened?

The aircraft forced to divert, landing safely at the Laches
Airport and the Azores, a chain of small islands in
the middle of the ocean. Passengers disembarking, remaining on the
island for nearly thirty hours before a new plane arrived
to take them to their destination.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
In a statement, Delta, pointing to a mechanical issue with
an engine, saying they apologized to customers for their experience
and delay in their travels. An employee of the Boston
Public Health Commission is on unpaid administratively facing a number
of charges. Thirty four year old Jacqueline Cherismy of Dorchester

accused of lying to investigators who are looking into a
fatal shooting back in April and Roxbury. The Globe reports
Cherismy allegedly drove Charles Dixon to Nubian Square, where after
an argument, Dixon fired shots at Ellis Santos. One of
the shots hidden killed Andrew Owens, who was not even
involved in the altercation. Tourismay allegedly lied about her involvement,

saying she was standing near the shooting and was not
the driver of the car that later took Dixon away
from the scene. Dixon was arrested last month, pleading not
guilty to murder and weapons charges, and it is being
