They decided to go for a walk along the beach midwinter.
We are at Revere Beach, still not the.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Wildest part, and we come upon this jetty.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
The problem is that this so called jetty was actually
three hundred and fifty yards from the shore.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
It just happened to be low tide.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
We sit and we're talking for a while, and we're like,
all right, let's.

Speaker 6 (03:17):
Go get some hot chocolate.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
But there was a problem.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
The tide had come back in and we were completely
surrounded by.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Ocean all right, before we go any further.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
I have a confession to make her date.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
That night was me.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
I think that you did mention like should we call
for help?

Speaker 2 (03:30):
And I was like, we're just doing this.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
And we attempted and failed to wade through frigid waste
deep water before climbing onto a rock and calling for help.
Hypothermia was the diagnosis. We got it mass General and
if you can believe it, we were together for two
years after that.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
Yeah, it was a big bonding.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Experience that sheer WBZ Boston's news radio as.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
We're going to be right back at it our regularly
scheduled late fall as we transitioned to winter, and the
new season is not even here yet, but it feels
like we're in the middle of it. It's going to
be a old air blowing today and it's really going
to be howling. Two. We're looking for wind gusts in
excess of forty miles an hour, maybe fifty throughout the day.
That's why a wind advisory is officially posted for later

(04:11):
on this morning. Through most of the day today, this
is going to be a very dicey day. So we're
at thirty eight right now in Boston. Temperature is actually
going to fall through the day, will only be in
the thirties. Throughout. We will see some sunshine followed by
a spotty afternoon snow shower as well, continued windy overnight tonight,
mainly clear lows in the twenties. We wind up the
work week tomorrow with highs again just barely above freezing

(04:33):
with a mix of sun and clouds, and the weekend
we are watching the potential for some snow falling Saturday
night into Sunday. This storm system is currently tracking a
little bit south of our region, but especially south of
the city, we could see some accumulating snow out of this.
Right now in Boston, it's thirty eight and mainly clear
skies at six oh six on this Thursday morning. It
has been said you get what you pay for, But

(04:55):
in the world of Wacky Tobacci, maybe not. Allegations of
fraud and Massachuset. It's cannabis industry.

Speaker 5 (05:01):
What they're doing is they're ripping off the consumer.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
But Matt Gutwill, president of the New England Narcotic Enforcement
Officers Association, argues cannabis consumers aren't getting what they're paying for.

Speaker 5 (05:11):
I take my system and I just lay the device
up on top.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
In a significant number of cases, Gutwill says, the THHC
level in the test comes back lower than what's advertised
on the product's label.

Speaker 5 (05:25):
It's saying it's twelve point eight percent zero point one
percent CDD, but when we purchase this, it said that
it was a thirty four point sixty five percent THC level.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Contends it's a symptom of a bigger problem, a lack
of oversight by the Cannabis Control Commission or CCC, the
regulators which oversee the industry.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
They are doing nothing on the enforcement and CBS News
Boston's Louisa Moehler tells US state regulations do require cannabis
products to be tested by licensed labs before being sold
at dispensaries. The owner a bowling alley in Milford is
accused of spending more than a million dollars in pandemic
relief money intended for use on his business instead on himself.

(06:08):
Federal prosecutors say fifty four year old David Breen took
the money and ran to build a mansion in South
Carolina and treated himself to some luxury vehicles rather than
use that money to help employees at his Pins bowling Alley.
The fraud charges carry a maximum prison sentence of ten
years and a quarter million dollar fine. Tough times at
the North Pole this season.

Speaker 6 (06:30):
Do you feel like Buddy the Elf does about Santa.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Santa's coming in sah my God, Then you'll be sorry
to hear that.

Speaker 6 (06:38):
Hire Santa dot Com says demand for Santa's at holiday
events in the nation is down by more than a
quarter from last year. Indeed, Hiring Labor says things are
slowing down in seasonal hiring and in the broader labor market.
So who's going to pay for the Reindeers group?

Speaker 4 (06:53):
Allison Keys, CBS News.

Speaker 1 (06:54):

the day. Listen to WBZ News Radio on the iHeartRadio app.
