It's looking like it will be a close one between
a combent Mayor Carlo de Maria and his challenger, city
councilor Robert Van Campen. Campen has been a vocal critic
of his opponent, citing reports that the eighteen year incumbent
mayor accepted bonus money payments that he should not have,
saying it's time for change.

Maria has denied any wrongdoing and is running on his
record as a city leader, from bringing a casino to
Everett to the effort to eventually bring a soccer stadium

Poles will open in fifty five cities and towns in
the Commonwealth at seven o'clock this morning. Federal government shutdown
wraps up its fifth week today, and at thirty five
days long, it ties the all time longest shut down
in American history, set during President Trump's first term. Senators
will vote for a fourteenth time today to end it,
and for a fourteenth time, it is expected to fail. However,

top Republicans and Democrats in the House offer up a
new solution that Senate Majority Leader John Thune believes could
wrap things up as soon as this week. The new
package would extend the current funding deal to January. Thoon
is so far rejected President Trump's call to end the
filibuster in the House, which would require or in the Senate,
which would require just a simple majority rather than sixty

votes to end the stalemates. Thanksgiving interrupt us coming to
an airport near you, and it's because of the shutdown.

somewhere tsa security lines keep an anxious would be airline
travelers in lines for hours and now. The US Travel
Association says this stalemate could be a disaster for families

the road and in the air. Yes, holiday season books

mix of sun and clouds. Tomorrow, we're expecting daytime highs
to approach sixty once again. There is a slight chance
of an afternoon shower or two, and then for the
balance of the work week Thursday and Friday, looks like
we're going to be seeing more moderate temperatures with highs
in the lower fifties. Right now in Boston, it is
a crystal clear sky at sunrise here in the city

in Boston and many shoreline communities This week in advance
of November's full moon, we've got some movement in the
moon department.

Cities and towns along the waterfront are getting ready for
king tide. State and local officials say a portion of
Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester could be shut down starting this
morning for what could be some minor flooding during the
moon's closest path to Earth this year. The next high
tide is just before nine thirty. This year's Beaver moon
peaks tomorrow afternoon. It is the second of three consecutive

supermoons to wrap up the year, and flooding advisories have

Bizarre behavior at Conquered Carlisle Public Schools. Someone has been
putting makeshift scarecrows around town, targeting Superintendent Laurie Hunter. The
