Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey guys, it's Bethany from the Michael J. Morning Show.
You're listening to Michael J and Bethany after Hours.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Michael J and Bethany, we are all about our hometown
of Baltimore, and as sun comes up over Charms City.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Ninety three void one WPOC now truly one.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Year ago today, the iconic Francis Scott Key Bridge right
here in Baltimore struck by a massive container ship and
plunged into the Potapsco River. The bridge was one hundred
and eighty five feet high and it was up as
part of the Baltimore skyline for fifty years.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
But it collapsed at about one thirty.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Am, exactly one year ago today and changed the city forever.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
It did.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
And the moments that that happened stopped us because if
you'll remember, there was very quick response by MDTA police
officers who fortunately were able to save lives because they
kept others from driving out onto the bridge, stopped traffic,
having no idea of how serious it was. M DTA

(01:11):
Police First Sergeant Paul Pistoric was one of those officers,
and you're going to hear him in the police audio
we're going to play in a moment, But first he
sat down and remembered his thoughts. Now, a year after
that tragic morning.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
When I first saw the scene, it was dead everwhelming.
A year later, you know, we're coming up on the anniversary.
Still had the same feelings. We still lost the same
six souls that we were unable to save that night.

Speaker 6 (01:43):
He one of you guys on the south side, one
of you guys on the north side, hold on traffic
on the key bridge. There's a ship approaching has just
lost their steering, so that under control. We got to
stop off traffic. Yeah, we're well comming around through south right,
so I start team. I'm holding traffic now. I was
dragging when we stopped prior to the bridge, so I'll

(02:06):
have a whole How does the traffic stop?

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Ten four?

Speaker 6 (02:09):
Is there a crew work on the bridge right now?

Speaker 7 (02:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (02:13):
OK, wine with the good finding crowd traffic on our
site right now? Yeah, if we can stop traffic, just
make sure no one's on the bridge right now. I'm
not sure where. Uh there's a crew up there. You
might want to notify whoever. The format is if we
can get them off the bridge, that really say for
once the other unit gets here, all right, up on

(02:35):
the fridge. I have all a loop traffic stop at
this time. That's once you get here, I'll never brad
the workers on the key bridge and then stop the
outer loop.

Speaker 7 (02:49):
Take thirteenth this beach. The whole bridge just found down.
Start starts, whoever, everybody. The whole bridge just collapsed. Well,
this class is erect.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
That's correct. For first time.

Speaker 6 (03:02):
You you know, wall traffic was up.

Speaker 7 (03:05):
I can't get to the other side, so.

Speaker 6 (03:06):
The bridge is down. We're gonna have.

Speaker 7 (03:10):
To get somebody on the other side of the Anamoma
County MSP to get up here and.

Speaker 6 (03:14):
Stop traffic coming northbound on a T bridge. And I'm
holding all traffic northbound.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
It was the middle of the night when this happened,
but it was at this moment with sunrise that we
got to see clearly that the change of Baltimore's smile
it was gone.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
Bridge no longer stood.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
So we take this moment to remember thanking all of
our police who were there to save so many lives.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
When I got the news today.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
I did, and we remember that seven people were on
the bridge when it went down. Only one survived. The
men who died, Carlos Daniel Hernandez, Alijandro Hernandez, Fuentes, Maynor Sandoval,

(04:14):
Miguel Gonzalez, Jose Lopez, and Dorlean Cabrera. So their families,
I'm sure are having a rough morning as the entire
city remembers.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Ninety three point one w POC traffic.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
From a traffic standpoint, ever since the bridge went down.
On my traffic screen, there's all of these like closed
warnings about the bridge, and like I have to scroll
past them every day, and it's just constant remind I know,
and I'm sure that people feel like that when they're
sitting in the tunnel traffic or this. You know, So
we're thinking about you this morning, if your life got

(04:52):
changed from that in that accident, all right, A ninety
five southbound between Lombard and the Harbor Tunnel.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
This damn may this same noise.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
It was a les night, noy was lsnight, ninety three
point one WPOCIG morning.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Michael J's Music City Minute in sixty seconds.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
If you don't know, like you own a music row, Well,
the big story in country music, Kenny Chesney is going
to be enshrined in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
So congratulations to Kenny that's cool for a big honor.
Speaking of country stars, Warren Zeider's is coming for a show.
We got a pair of tickets we want to give away,
and we wanted to find somebody who's had a tough

(05:35):
time getting a.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Good night's sleep. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Last hour we were talking about how many souls are
in your bed?

Speaker 4 (05:40):
So who sleeps with you?

Speaker 2 (05:41):
If you can top eight? Eight seem to be the
I don't know how anybody has eight souls in their bed.
But ma'am, what do you have going on in your bed?

Speaker 7 (05:48):
My self?

Speaker 6 (05:49):
My husband?

Speaker 4 (05:50):
It's two?

Speaker 6 (05:51):
All right?

Speaker 4 (05:51):
My seven month old daughter, I want to hands pregnantly
four four.

Speaker 6 (05:58):
Eight, three cats, a snake.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
It's her and she's pregnant. That's great, animal.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Hold on, she's got her child and the husband. That's
four and we had four four pitbulls.

Speaker 7 (06:10):
Yeah, so you've got Nilo, Huggy, Rocco and REFI.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
We're up to eight. And then what else is in
your bed?

Speaker 7 (06:17):
Muffle the snake?

Speaker 4 (06:19):
And then it was a bigger and miss kiddy. So
I've lost track. What is the grand total? I miss?
So it's one, two, three, four, eight, ten. I'm counting eleven.

Speaker 7 (06:34):
Times, anywhere between ten.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
And twelve don't want the other cats want to come.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
To Californ California.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
King, Look, I really want to ask you this in
all sincerity. Why is there a snake sleeping with? What
is that all about?

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Got out the cage and we could never catch it
and he just sometimes ended up.

Speaker 7 (06:55):
In the bed under my pillow.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Snake and joys cuddling? Is that what you're saying? Oh,
I will guess you like being onto the pillow.

Speaker 7 (07:05):
If you likes me onto the pillow, can.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
You get any rest? And also how did you get pregnant?
But that many people.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
They accommodate to me.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
I will see that they accommodated to me. Yeah, Molly,
we're gonna give you.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
We're gonna give you the salute the most souls in
bed in Baltimore. We're gonna give you a pair of
tickets to go see Warren Zeiders because you need to
get out of that bed.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
You can get out of the house.

Speaker 2 (07:29):

is a bonehead. I can't believe she would forget to
call you on your birthday on Sunday.

Speaker 7 (08:32):
I mean it's only been my birthday for like thirty years.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
I mean you are her sister.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Your names both begin with the same footpin' letter of
the alphabet.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
It's true.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
So I'm just here to tell you that she's very sorry,
and I'm making sure that she is apologetic.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
And right now, Bethany, I turn it over to you.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
I'm sorry I forgot to call you at your birthday.
I feel so terrible, So I I did. I logged
off Sunday like it was like the day that I
took to be completely off, and I like literally barely
looked at my phone the whole day, and uh, I
was sitting on the couch in the evening just chilling,

(09:19):
and Brittany's husband texts me, Hey, you know it's your
sister's birthday.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
You might want to call her.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
And I'm like, oh God, oh Gody, you forget your
sister's birthday.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Oh my gosh, I'm gonna have to take the snowhammer
to you. I'm sorry anyway. Do you forgive me? Yes?

Speaker 1 (09:38):
I do.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
Don't give her that that that easy?

Speaker 7 (09:41):
Did?

Speaker 4 (09:41):
She let me off the hook?

Speaker 2 (09:42):
You have a sister who works in country radio. You
can milk this for a lot more.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
So.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
She knows what I want.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
She text me, if Brett Eldridge comes to Maryland, I
I'm coming up there and we're going to.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Well that's a done deal because we're friends with Brett.
But I heard you're a big Rascal Flats fan too.

Speaker 7 (10:03):
I am, but I think I'm more of a bread
Elsers fan.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
Well, then this song is for you, Brittany.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
You've cut Ghost Jeans just right shaking country girl.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
I love that song, don't you.

Speaker 7 (10:21):
It's just a very fun song.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Yes, it is ninety three point one WPOC Michael J
and Bethany What are you doing this morning?

Speaker 7 (10:28):

all that, Yes, I hope so all right, Well, good luck.
She's getting stitches out of her foot.

Speaker 4 (10:42):

pizza Palooza.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
It's happening right now.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
We're on round two of our Pizza Palooza where we're
trying desperately to find the best pizza in the Greater
Baltimore metro.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Now, do we have any idea what happened?

Speaker 2 (10:59):
We had a really big showdown between Pizza John's and
you told me yesterday morning Pizza John's was in the lead.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
I'll have to go back and take a look. Yeah,
I'll give you the rundown of who's in charge when
we come back.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
All right, but we're adding up around today. The way
this is gonna work real simply is, whenever you get
the chance, if you care about your pizza, and don't
we all love our pizza.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Your people are very loyal.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Yes, well, you know, if you if you go to Gills,
for example, which is one of the finalists, you know
you go to Gills because you love Gills and you
always want to Gills pizza when you go to Pizza
John's same thing. So if you've got a strong opinion
about it, this is your chance to voice your support
for your favorite pizza. Yeah, we call it Pizza Palooza.

(11:46):
Twenty twenty five. You go to our WPOC Instagram page.
That is where you can click that when we say
the story, what does that mean mean?

Speaker 1 (11:55):
So that's like, you know, on the like little circle
on your profile, click on that right and then you
can vote.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
There's like a poll for.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Each matchup for anybody just figuring it out how the
Instagram works.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Today's matchups are Gills Pizza versus Pepe's Right Little Village
versus Italian Gardens, Underground Pizza versus Frank's Pizza I Know,
and Matthew's Pizza versus Tiny brick of Oh that's another
tough one.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
Ninety three point one WPOC traffic.

j and Bethany how come hang off from Bottimore.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
That's why that's ninety three point one wpo C now

we did a whole salute at sunrise in honor and
as we remember the Key Bridge one year ago today,

(12:58):

you know we have a podcast.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Yeah, you can go to w POC dot com and
click on the Michael J. Morning Show page and you'll
see all the episodes of our podcast there. It's just
like clips from the Morning Show.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Right.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
But because we've had people asking about this in honor again,
I want to remind you of what happened on the
police radio.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
Bethanye, you want to set it up. Yeah, So this
was the Dolly was headed for the bridge, right.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
There must have been some sort of an SOS call
and dispatchers decided if we have to shut the bridge down,
and this is the.

Speaker 4 (13:35):
Call to follow, the police scrambled.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Oh and I should mention that Sergeant Pastoric from the MDTA,
he was one of the first on the scene. You'll
hear him, and he sat down a couple days ago
and remembered what was going through his head when I.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
First saw the scene. It was been everwhelming.

Speaker 5 (13:56):
Kind of A year later, you know, we're coming up
on the anniversary, still have the same feelings. We still
lost the same six souls that we were unable to
u save that night.

Speaker 6 (14:06):
One of you guys on the south side, one of
you guys on the north side, hold on traffic on
the key Bridge. There's a ship approach you has just
lost their steering, so that under control. We got to
stop all traffic. Yeah, we're all humming around through south
front just ut to starting. I'm holding traffic now. I
was dragging when we stopped prior to the bridge, so

(14:28):
I'll have a whole How does the traffic stop?

Speaker 4 (14:32):
Ten four?

Speaker 6 (14:32):
Is there a crew work on the bridge right now? Okay, good, fine,
the crowd traffic on the site right now? Yeah, if
we can stop traffic to make sure no one's on
the bridge right now, I'm not sure where uh there's
a crew up there. You might want to notify whoever.
The format is that if we can get them off

(14:54):
the bridge, diperily say for one the other unit gets here,
I'll right up on the fridge. I have all an
loop traffic stopped at this time. That's once you get here,
although bred the uh workers on the key Bridge and
then stop the outer loop. Two thirteen this X the
whole bridge.

Speaker 7 (15:13):
Just found down. Start start whoever to everybody, the whole
bridge just elapsed. Well, this lunch is directed, that's correct,
there's time.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
If you know, all.

Speaker 7 (15:26):
Traffic was stopping. I can't get to the other side
where the bridge is down. We're gonna have to get
somebody on the other side. The anamon, the county MSP
to be up here and stop traffic coming north down
on the Key Bridge.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Ninety three point one w POC traffic.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
And that's what the police said back and forth.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
And fortunately these officers, uh, they were able to save many,
many other cars from being on the bridge at the
time that collapsed because they had what about a minute, god,
barely a minute just shut it down.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
Yeah, I mean it happened very quickly.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
We're thinking about everybody involved in that and all the
lives that it changed. A ninety five southbound between ninety
five and the Harbor Tunnel north End, we're sitting there
for about half an hour. The outer loop between bel
Air Road and York Road is another rough spot out
there in ninety five southbound before the four.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
Well, that's good.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
I keep out in the loop of entertainment and pop
culture and the things we shouldn't care about.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
But somehow we really do. It's Abrey on.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Ninety three point one WOC.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
You may have heard a rumor that Chipotle is filing
for bankruptcy. They want you to know that it's just
a rumor. I never heard that that's one restaurant or
the whole jam. They're just not It's just a rumor.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
Don't be scared. I guess they did.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
They invested in some other restaurant and that's not doing well,
so they're folding off that part of the company.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
But I heard a woman complaining about a Chipotle at
one restaurant lately. But I haven't alred anything bad about
the company. Right, it makes people vomb sometimes in a
big deal, all right.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
Disney Plus is reviving Malcolm in the Middle with a
four episode limited series, revealing the Wilkerson's sixth child.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
Sounds like they like the show, but they're not ready
to commit. They're just doing four. I think they couldn't
get a lot of the cast to come back. A
lot of them are pretty big names.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
So okay, it's always a big day in the country
music world. But they just announced the Hall of Fame
new class of inductees. Vince Gill had the honors this
year's non performer inductee is Tony Brown, mega producer.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
He has one hundred number one country song he should done.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
Bill June, Carter Cash will be inducted, and Kenny Chesney
Ben Affleck called his divorce from Jennifer Lopez a drama
free zone in a GQ cover story.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
He still has a lot of respect for her.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
Okay Ailey Welsh her fifteen Minutes of Fame continues The
infamous Haktua Girl when viral last June for reasons I
won't get into. But now she has a new documentary
which is nothing to spit at.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
The Bluey movie came.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
Out in twenty twenty seven, and one of the show's
voices is hyping how good the movie is.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
She says it's Oscar worthy.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
The woman that plays Bluey's mom saying that this Bluey
movie is going to be epic. Oh, and lastly, more
than half of Americans say retired products are more important
to them than anything that current brands have to offer.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
So which products are they speaking of that they miss
so badly?

Speaker 1 (18:41):
They miss Atari, banana ness, quick BlackBerry phones, iPods, and
Serge soda.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
Is there anything you missed from your childhood that's like retired. No,
I don't miss anything.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
So ninety three point one WPOC traffic.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
Five southbound is crawling between ninety five and the Harvard Tunnel.
Looks like it's backed up for about forty minutes, So
steer clear there.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
If you can't.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Betweens, we're gonna jump on the hot seat here in
a minute. But I wanted to ask Bethany a question first,
because you know a lot about real estate, you know
a lot about houses, and I'm just wondering, does anybody
else feel pressure because of Chip and Joanna? Because I
watch them. They're always a happy couple. They're so upbeat.

(19:32):
I mean, I love them, but they're always they're always on,
and they say that everybody needs. And the colors that
they're recommending, I wanted to run these past to you, okay, Greens, blues,
and whites.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
They say those are the colors that are in h
and they say, we gotta do it.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Magnolia Green everywhere. Isn't that ironic? That's what it's called,
uh huh, because Magnolia Network is what they are name
of their company.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
I can't wait for those two not to be happy, though,
because they're always so Jipper, and I'm like, huh, you
know what I mean? Is that a bad thing? They're
so happy?

Speaker 1 (20:06):
No, I feel like I feel like most couples like that,
Most TV couples like that. You end up hearing about
a scandal. So it's like, well, no, I don't want
that to happen to them.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
But yeah, they always they always say this on every
remodel too, if you've watched them, and I've watched a
lot of those shows, Yeah, they always.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
They always come in and say, we got to knock
the walls down.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
We need an open right, what is wrong with rooms?
Because you know, I remember when I was a kid,
we have a lot of rooms, you know what I mean.
There was a living room, there was a dining room.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
I think post pandemic because everybody didn't want to be
on top of each other anymore.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
Right, Like people are starting to.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Be like, okay with walls again, they're like, oh, you
know what, we could have the living room separate from
the kitchen.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
We don't.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
We could have that, and why do we have when
we were kids that living room that you couldn't go in.
We had a living room and it was with white
carpeting and you couldn't go in there.

Speaker 6 (20:58):
Uh huh.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
In fact, I remember Nay who had plastic over their
fancy couch. Yeah, like that's the good room. We save that,
but we weren't allowed to go in there.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
But because we don't have boundaries anymore, Yeah, no, No,
kids can go anywhere. Yeah, and they can run into
your bedroom and you know it's like, yeah, knock once
in a while. Anyway, I just think it's funny do people.
I don't think anybody still puts plastic covers in their couches.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
I bet there are some grandmas out there that are
sitting on some plastic fancy room.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
Don't go in there sitting on plastic.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
Right now, we don't sit in there. We just look
at it.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
Why why would you have a room that you don't use?
I don't know. It was crazy.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
Anyway, let's get to the hot seat, and you know, Bethany,
I do want you to turn it up a notch because.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
Yeah, everybody's been doing so great on the hot seat
that I decided to.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Turn the heat up exactly so today. Ninth caller eight
hundred three two one thirty six ninety three.

Speaker 4 (21:54):
If you can survive the hot seat, you better be ready,
it's going to be hotter, hotter, hotter.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
It's not Colliente. Get on the phone with ninety three
point one w POC. Now, we're very excited about this
b More around town tailgate that they're gonna have. I
keep wanting to call it a purple tailgate because that's
what we did with the Ravens. Yeah, yeah, but it's
it's gonna be an orange tailgate. And this is gonna

(22:24):
be great because it's all about the Orioles. You know,
they always do these awesome trips and everything, but this
one is right here in Baltimore Opening day for the
Orioles on Monday. How cool would it be if we
could get you into this tailgate with a couple of.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
Passes, food, drink, music. James is fun. So what we're
gonna do is play little game we call the hot seat.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
Okay, all right, yep, and listen if you If you
don't get an answer within three seconds, this is what
