Speaker 6 (00:56):
Now, Trudy, all right, good morning, Michael, Jay and Bethany.
The President's going to make a big announcement this morning
along with Josh Harris, owner of the Commanders, and Bethany
the head of the NFL, Roger Goodell.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
These three guys are going to be down in.
Speaker 6 (01:12):
DC to apparently announce that not this coming year because
the draft will be in Pittsburgh for the NFL for
twenty six, but in twenty seven. Apparently it's going to
be on the right there on the field in front
of it with the Lincoln Memorial in DC, and with
(01:32):
the Commanders announcing that they're going to be building a
new stadium theoretically if the city of DC approves that,
they'll move forward and hopefully have a new football stadium
where RFK is now starting in the twenty thirty season.
So it's kind of a big buzz with the Commanders
talking about a new stadium. Now they've got the President
saying he's going to announce that they're going to have
(01:55):
the draft in DC. So I think that was good.
That's kind of close. Yeah, you know, good, so that's
a big deal. Also, did you watch the Preakness Kentucky Derby.
I'm sorry, that's what I meant to say, Kentucky Derby.
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, hard to get the preetness in
my mind. A little sloppy, Oh, a little sloppy. It
was a mug It was a mudfest. Slugfest, but uh
(02:16):
it was. That was kind of cool.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Sovereignty one seven to one shot.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Yeah, there was a photo finish for second place because
the favorite journalism ended up getting second place.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
But I guess there's they have to look into it.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yeah, well it was. It was a close race.
Speaker 6 (02:32):
I was Keithworth got seventeen. That's what I was looking for. Yeah,
Toby's horse didn't do so well.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Did he?
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Nah?
Speaker 6 (02:39):
And you found something pretty cool. They were all related
to Secretariat.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Every horse on the docket or whatever you call it was.
That's amazing direct descendant of Secretariat.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
So ninth fifty years ago. Oh my gosh, stop that
now you're making you feel really old.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
So there were generations in between.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Terry, it was fifty years.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
Looked that up for okay, looking it up. Oh my god,
I know it's in the seventies. Maybe I was younger
than I thought. I'm like, gosh, fifty.
Speaker 5 (03:07):
Because nineteen seventy three, No, it was really yeah, holy.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
The triple Crown nineteen seventy three.
Speaker 6 (03:15):
So there was Secretariat, then there was like affirmed, and
there there was another or two triple crown.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah, another triple crown.
Speaker 6 (03:22):
It dang, So they're all so in other words, Secretariat
was like Grandpa or great grandpa.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
Because I bet I bet his business was worth a
lot of money.
Speaker 6 (03:32):
I bet I bet it was ninety three point one
w POC traffic.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
That's wild, disgusting.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
Ninety three point one WPOC. Thanks for all the text.
I pay ten thousand a year to play twelve and
up hockey.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
That's that's what it is. That's what it's going for
these days.
Speaker 6 (03:53):
And then, like I said, summer camp tuition, if your
kids are going to private school, Bethany, that's a bunch
of you change.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
I just want to I just want to say, in
my humble opinion, your child will not grow up to
be a better human if you spend millions of dollars
on it.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
But I wanted to I do want to say something.
Speaker 6 (04:11):
We just had this discussion over the weekend because my
daughter Hope and I were watching the Big Ten Lacrosse
Championship over the weekend. Maryland was in Michigan playing Ohio
State because the tournament was held at on the field
of where the where the Wolverines play, So it was
at Michigan, but it was against Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
We lost, all right, But I'm.
Speaker 6 (04:34):
Looking through you that, I'm like, I wonder how many
kids on both of these teams, both Ohio State and
Maryland came from our area, you know, And man, there
were a bunch there were, you know, several kids from
bl there were several kids from Loyola.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
There's some good lacrosse programs here.
Speaker 6 (04:54):
Well, this this is interesting saying they get into college sports.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Yeah, they get into college sports.
Speaker 5 (04:59):
But he there's my quest vision one, what kind of
pressure is that then putting on the kid like I've
spent I've spent twenty thousand dollars on your lacrosse, or
go to college or pay right?
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Really, what if they don't want to do that? Well,
do the kids actually want to be doing this, like I.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Think so with lacrosse.
Speaker 6 (05:17):
Kids love playing lacrosse, and oh no doubt, we're not
all as talented as these superstar guys who make it,
you know, into college and then you know there are
pro teams after that, you know, and they don't make
that much money even. I mean, I've talked to guys
who played in that league and they're not you know,
I mean, they have to have jobs too, you know
what I mean. It's not like major league Major League
(05:38):
Baseball or Major League Football or you know, NFL whatever else.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Right, like the percentage chance that you're going to be
a millionaire.
Speaker 6 (05:44):
Yeah, but I mean, you know what, it's not always
about money too. Sometimes it's just people want to play
and have fun and they love sports. And when your
kids love it, it's.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Hard what you just said. It's not all about money,
but it is, you know what I mean.
Speaker 6 (05:57):
It is about But when your kids come to you
and go, mom, Dad, I really want to play X.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
You want to. You want them to because they grow
up so fast. You only have you know.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
I know, but parents can't do this.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
I know, I understand. It's it's it's a struggle. It
definitely is.
Speaker 6 (06:11):
Ninety three point one w POC traffic all right, JFX
looks like eighty three southbound between Ruxton and Northern Parkway.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
That she's path of me. It's all right.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
Blake Shelton's on fire with that his new country Texas.
Speaker 3 (06:33):

Speaker 6 (06:34):
Bethany ninety three point one w POC Happy Monday more.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
I know Monday Monday. Right.
Speaker 6 (06:41):
It's sometimes you feel like you're dragon. But we're here
to have some fun and to keep you in touch
with what's going on.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
I keep us in the loop of entertainment and pop
culture and the things we shouldn't care about, but somehow
we really do, right Bethany on ninety three point one
w POC.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
So, the MET Gala is tonight, so your social media
will have plenty of.
Speaker 6 (07:05):
The Met Gala. So I hear about it. I've never
obviously been to it. It's a very kind of swanky
invite only, and I think they charge you like thousands
of dollars just to go to it.
Speaker 5 (07:18):
It's not a free party, no, and it benefits the
Met or is the Museum of Art. No, it's not free.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Yeah, I think you have to pay a lot of
money to go to it. Yeah, it's like ridiculously crazy expensive.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Red carpet begins at four point thirty.
Speaker 6 (07:30):
That's basically the main event, and then the outfit that
you put on is like you.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Know, yeah, there's always a theme.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Yeah, what is the theme this year? Do we have
any idea yet?
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Super fine tailoring black style?
Speaker 5 (07:42):
Okay, they are paying tribute to the artistry, artistry and
legacy of black designers, got it all right, So that's
happening tonight. And I love to see the pictures of
the Red carpet. I can't imagine wearing some of those
ridiculous outfits. Some of them they have to like like
so on the people, it's like wild. Okay, So Prince
(08:03):
Harry says that the King doesn't speak to him anymore,
won't talk to him anymore.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (08:08):
Chipotle is launching Roebucks Cinco de Mayo collaboration. There's like
a game that you can play at roadblocks to win
free burritos. And I think this is great because I
think that the teenage people out there love both Rowbucks
and Chipotle, right, and you could.
Speaker 6 (08:25):
Talk to them, but they're probably still asleep even though
they've got school at like, you.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
Know, they might not hate you if you suggest this
is absolutely Connie Britton. She was in season one of
White Lotus and she says she would love to return
to the series. You know sometimes they bring people back,
but only if they shoot an Aspen, Colorado.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Well, because you know, they shot in Thailand last time,
and it takes six months to shoot that start.
Speaker 6 (08:46):
So yesterday, did you hear the breaking news about the
movie industry? And I don't have all the facts in
front of me, but basically, you know how we have
the tariffs against So the President said he's going to
put a tariff on movies that come from other countries
because apparently they're kind of ripping off our movie industry.
And that story broke about five point thirty yesterday and
(09:08):
apparently all the movie producers are going to want to
start coming back to America to shoot because if they
go overseas to produce, they're going to be taxed. And
it's because I guess the movie industry says they really
are being kind of screwed.
Speaker 5 (09:24):
A lot of stuff is shot in Canada, Australia, New Zealand.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Yeah, but what.
Speaker 6 (09:28):
That's doing it because they're stealing money out of our
industries because they're you know, they're doing it cheaper and
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
I don't know this, I don't know the ins and outs.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
But oh, here's another story for teenagers. Grand Theft Auto six.
They're pushing the release date back. Everyone was so excited
because it was supposed to come out on Friday. It's
now set to be released next May, a whole other year.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Well, maybe they just want to make sure it's perfect.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
It's the first one in like a decade. Okay, so
sorry everybody.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Lot of pressure to make sure it's.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
That thing though.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Ninety three point one w POC traffic all right.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
Accident on the outer loop before Security Boulevard head.
Speaker 6 (10:11):
Jelly roll on ninety three point one WPOC. So it's
It's funny how a topic that we end up talking
about on the radio kind of weaves its way through
our own personal lives. It started with me watching that
four seasons show, which I'm not all the way through
on Netflix.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Right, New Tina Fey Show.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
I like Tina Fey a lot.
Speaker 6 (10:31):
I think she's really good, and she's with the guy
from the office, Steve Carell. Yeah, yeah, and it's it's funny,
But then it's also very sad. It's kind of sad
because what happens in the first episode, and this is
not a spoiler or whatever, but Correl, Steve Carrell's character
goes into the woods on a hike with his two
(10:51):
buddies and then he reveals that, you.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Know, I'm splitting up.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Yeah, my way, yeah, And.
Speaker 6 (10:57):
They were like no, because these six people are very close.
Three couples have been friends for a long time, right,
and they're just they're really cool people. They're you know,
all walks of life and everything.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
But it's a remake of an Alan Alda thing.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
I didn't know it was a right and he actually
is the dad of one of the characters, Like.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 6 (11:17):
I haven't gotten Super Deepeance. There's eight episodes and so
I'm just in the beginning of it. But it's about how,
you know, his characters splitting up with his wife and
they're all kind of like, no, you don't want to
do that.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
And and then you just came in here and said, hey,
did you know.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
Yeah, the quarter of people in the United States would
like to leave their relationship but they can't because of
financial reasons.
Speaker 6 (11:43):
And I asked, I asked my dad about this yesterday.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Yeah, just yesterday.
Speaker 6 (11:48):
We're just talking and you know, he's getting up there
and he's been sharing with me just different things in
his life to kind of teach me.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
I think he's trying to teach me a lesson.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
It's like, yeah, some things to say.
Speaker 6 (12:01):
Yeah, But see, he lived a different life because he
had his own business. It wasn't like he was getting
a W two and a paycheck and whatever, you know
what I mean. So it's a different world when you
own a business, you don't necessarily deal with things the
same as you know a person like an employee. But
he got divorced from my mom, and I'm like, how
did you get to keep the house?
Speaker 3 (12:23):
You know? And how does that all work?
Speaker 6 (12:24):
Because, as you're talking about Beth in, the quarter of
Americans theoretically want to leave or split up, but they
can't because you look at a situation where if you
own a home together, the couple all right, and you're like,
well where am I going to live?
Speaker 3 (12:40):
What am I going to do?
Speaker 6 (12:41):
And so the house is in a mortgage to the
two of you, and neither one of you can really
afford to buy the other out, and you're thinking in
your head.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Well, especially with the interest rates.
Speaker 6 (12:53):
Yeah, and to make matters even crazier, if you know what,
five years ago whatever, you you refinance and you're at
three percent, right, and now the rates are at seven percent,
and if you did buy your partner out, it's going
to double your your house payment.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
It's kind of if you.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Can afford to carry the mortgage by yourself anyway, or
do you just.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Say, you know what?
Speaker 6 (13:13):
Uh that said, I'm just gonna sell it. But people
are afraid to make that job.
Speaker 5 (13:18):
Oh yeah, I still when I read this, I thought,
I wonder if they can't afford to leave, or if
they don't want.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
To take the hit, Like I don't know, you know
what I mean? Like, it's weird.
Speaker 6 (13:28):
If there's anyone listening who's in that situation, if you
are one of the four it's one in four people apparently.
Speaker 5 (13:35):
But worse, half of people surveyed so that they would
pull out if there was no financial impact. Wow, So
twenty five percent can't afford it.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
Wow, half of the people surveyed say that they would leave.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
That's sad.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
Yeah's wild.
Speaker 6 (13:50):
I think it's I personally think it's sad because it
means a lot of people are unhappy in their.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
Relationships half it seems yeah, yeah, but I don't.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
I also don't want someone to stay with me because
of money.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (14:01):
If the only reason you're staying is for Wow, financially.
Speaker 6 (14:06):
Crazy stant out like dang, but it is a huge
financial hit.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
I mean for a lot of folks, so for sure, wow.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
And sometimes like one partner or the other stayed home
to take care of kids and had to leave the
work first for a while, so when you go back,
you don't make as much, you know, like I don't know,
there's a lot going on.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
Yeah, there is.
Speaker 6 (14:28):
I would love to hear from anyone who's in that
fifty percent.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
That's like man.
Speaker 6 (14:36):

Speaker 3 (14:50):

Speaker 7 (14:52):

Speaker 1 (14:53):

Speaker 5 (14:54):

Speaker 3 (14:54):
I did, She's really cute too.
Speaker 6 (14:56):

Megan Maroney. They were both with Bailey Zimmerman backstage. And

Speaker 6 (15:20):

she was letting them fly. I'm like, whoa mama?
Speaker 1 (15:26):
All right, all right.
Speaker 5 (15:27):
There's a disabled vehicle on Macombas Street southbound at right

Speaker 1 (15:34):
The left lane is blocked.
Speaker 5 (15:35):

least one person that has served this country as part
of the military. We know how special these people are
to our lives. And to our communities, it's Saint Pierre,
and I'm thinking about my father in law, Steve, and
of course my good friend and former co worker Steve Ruce,
just to name a couple. And I promise that not
everybody I know from the military is named Steve.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
It's just a coincidence.

Not too much training for our birds, at least the Orioles.
Over the weekend they lost two out of three to
the Royals and still having some pitching problems. They did
call up Kobe Mayo. He's back in the majors and
they're giving him a shot. They're trying to figure out
what's going on. But Orioles had a tough weekend. Down
(19:52):
the road down ninety five. Commanders have got some football
talk going on Bethany because they've got the president ready
to announce they're gonna be hosting the twenty twenty seven
NFL Draft. And then at the Ravens facility, they had
workouts with their their draftees and you know, they're checking
out the kid's foot. Who's going to be the new
(20:15):
kicker for the Ravens. Yeah, his last name is Loop
and he you know, he missed a few, but they
said that he's got a lot of strength and he
looked good. Justin Tucker obviously is under the microscope, and
it sounded like John Harball didn't want to answer questions,
but he did say at this point that the Ravens
have not heard back from the NFL any kind of
(20:36):
a decision, so their hands are kind of tied until
they hear and until then he's like, the decision will
be based on football.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
So I guess you know it's I don't.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Know how I feel about that.
Speaker 6 (20:48):
Yeah, But anyway, the Justin Tucker story, excuse me, is
kind of bubbling under. So that's going on. What do
you see going on that we should be updating on.
Speaker 5 (20:57):
I guess President Trump says he might reopen Alcatraz.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Okay, so that's something.
Speaker 6 (21:03):
And we just got a story here about a restaurant
tour closing three restaurants at the mall in Colombia over
crime fears. Really yeah, crime the Mall in Colombia, Desmond Riley.
Let's see, he's closing Benny's Pizza, the Walrus, Oyster and Alehouse,
(21:25):
and Chicken and Whiskey citing issues with public safety.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Interesting, so that is going on in Columbia.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
Ninety three point one w POC traffic.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
All right, we are stepping on.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
Ninety three point one w POC.
Speaker 6 (21:42):
Big shout out to Mike who spent a long point
in his life and I'm trying to get the name
in the new town that he moved to. He was
in Lettertown. I have family there, Bethany. You do, yeah,
I had they had a Oh for the longest time.
My dad's whole side of the family was in Leonardown, Oh,
and then he moved Bushwood.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Mike is now in Bushwood.
Speaker 6 (22:02):
So anyway, Mike, over the weekend, anything fun on Saturday
or Sunday?
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Just Saturday.
Speaker 6 (22:07):
Sounds like you were out in the Sunday yard.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
Work on Saturday.
Speaker 5 (22:13):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
And when you say yard work, what does that mean?
Speaker 6 (22:16):
Is that like a quick processor is at a full
blow and I'm out there all day kind of deal.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
That's a full blown all day.
Speaker 6 (22:23):
Oh, he's got two acres. He says, he's got a
zero turn. He's out there having fun.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
I do.
Speaker 5 (22:28):
I do feel the needs sometimes to ride around on
a zero turn.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
It would be nice to have one of those.
Speaker 6 (22:35):
Well, anyway, he's going to get the tickets for Parker
McCollum at Pier six Pavilion September eighteenth, thanks to Live Nation.
Speaker 3 (22:41):
So way to go, Mike.
Speaker 6 (22:42):
Thanks thanks for listening and put that on your country calendar.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Speaking of country music, Hey.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
Michael Jay's music City minute in sixty seconds. You don't
know like you own music roads.
Speaker 6 (22:53):
Well, there was a surprise over the weekend as we
build up to the Academy of Country Music Awards coming
up on the eighth, which is this Thursday night. All Right,
it's a big night for country music, the sixtieth Annual
Academy of Country Music Awards.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
And they have been kind of, you know, slowly.
Speaker 6 (23:13):
Drip trip trip leaking some of the nominees who have
become winners already, Like we already like this that they are.
I don't know, they're just trying to build anticipation for
the show. So they've already told us about Zach Topp
being announced as the winner for Best New Male Artists.
(23:33):
We also found out early thanks to Reba who popped
up on the screen at Country Thunder out in Wisconsin,
where Riley Green was in concert. Suddenly Riba shows up
on the screen and she announces the ACM Award winner
(23:54):
for and they're calling you this is weird. It's not
Video of the Year, it's like Visual Media of the Year.
And the winner is You Look Like You Love Me
from Riley Green and Ella Langley. So they've already got
the news that they're going to be accepting a trophy
coming up Thursday.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Chemistry.
Speaker 6 (24:13):
It's pretty cool, Hey, you know, it's common for country
headliners to give their opening acts a big thank you
gift at the end of the tour. Well, Megan Maroney,
who everybody's talking about because she's up for all sorts
of ACM attention. She's been touring with Kenny Chesney. Kenny
gave her a big gift. Well, she didn't know what
it was going to be, because he comes here. He's like, hey,
(24:34):
come here, I want to show you something. And so
he opens up his phone and he shows Megan Moroney,
this is Kenny Chesney now a video of workers at
Megan Moroney's house.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
She hadn't been home for a while they were on
the Yeah.
Speaker 6 (24:49):
Well, Kenny hired a crew to build a sauna at
her house, and so when she gets home, she's gonna
have a brand new sauna.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
That's cool.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
I'm glad she likes the idea.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
And what if she was like, I don't want to see.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
To ninety three point one w POC traffic.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
That's actually not my house. I'm just renting.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
