Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey guys, it's Bethany from the Michael J Morning Show.
You're listening to Michael J and Bethany after Hours.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
It's like a flashback down memory Lane with Hoodie and
the Blowfish otherwise known as Darius Rucker with Scottie McCreary.
That is an iHeart Country World premiere today. Yeah, a
lot of people loving it. Yeah, ninety three point one
w p o C now.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Ohk noki.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
So it's bringing this week, Yesday, this Saturday, the Big Race. Yeah,
I'm not gonna have a triple crown winner because the
winner from the Kentucky Derby is not running, right.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Is it just me?

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Or does that make it less exciting for you a
little bit?

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Like?

Speaker 2 (00:47):
But maybe that's one of the reasons why sometimes it
takes thirty years to get a triple Crown winner. But
I remember when I was a kid, we had like
three of them. Boom boom ber.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Yeah, anyways, it will still be funthe less.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
So Ice is being sued over in humane conditions for
immigrants at the Baltimore Holding Center.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
So we make the news and this is not a
political story from this vantage point, because we're not that
we try to stay away from politics. However, it's a
it's not a good look for Baltimore in this situation, right, yeah, hopefully.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
They'll, I don't know, figure this out.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
So two women were in a holding cell and they
just say, what does it mean that it's in humane?

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Oh, they don't.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
I guess from what I understand, there are not proper
sleeping conditions to hold people overnight.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Okay. People are being held there for thirty six forty
eight hours of sleep on the hard floor or something
like that.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
And one of the women had has a thyroid condition
and didn't have access to her medication. Oh so, and
they both, both of the women who are suing were
here legally, so we there's like they were legal or illegal, legal, legal, Okay.
So there's like a lot going on with that story.
So uh so there's that. And then the Midshipman fourth

(01:59):
Class Gus russo yep capped the Herndon Monument marking the
end of the Plebe year for the class of twenty
twenty eight. This is that slippery Naval Academy climb.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
I think it's also really cool when they graduate and
they all throw their hats.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
In the air and I'm like, what you lost your
hat though. Ninety three point one w POC traffic.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Okay, that's the stuff going on on the roads today, guys,
that rain making things slipping to the.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Bulls to keep us in the loop of entertainment and
pop culture and the things we shouldn't care about, but
somehow we really do.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
It's bes abre yep.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
On ninety three point one POC, let's.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Go, it's trending. HBO Max is back.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
So he used to be HBO and then it was
HBO Max and then it was Max and it's.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
HBO Max again.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
So stupid Apple is planning on putting brain chips in
and people by the.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Can we investigate?

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Let me just ask you a couple of questions, okay,
because this story really grabs my attention. Okay, is this
something that they are going to try to find volunteers
for or are we going to actually buy this service
from Apple?

Speaker 3 (03:12):
So it's already they're already using it in some test patients. Okay.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
What they're saying, it's really good for our people with
like impairments that can't use Apple's regular features. Okay, it's
almost going to be like, I guess, like an Apple
Watch in your head.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
So it's going to be something a product that we
buy from Apple.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
It sounds like you you will be able to then
use Apple products with mind control, like that's that is,
and then.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Be able to use you through the radio. Can you
see me rolling my eyes? I'm like, what the hell?

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Well, that's it's the thing that's happening crazy. Okay.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Do you guys remember Star Search? Yes, well Netflix is
bringing it back with it won't be Ed McMahon, it'll
be uh.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
I don't know. I don't think they've announced who's going
to Ryan Seacrest.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Of course it we're Bobby Bones.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
So they also have lots of other things that they
announced during their upfronts yesterday. Netflix, The Diplomat's coming back,
Love on the Spectrum is going to be back, Million
Dollar Secrets, Bridgerton gets another season. The four seasons with
Tina Fey and Steve Carell is coming back. And lastly,
congratulations to Demi Lovado and Jordan Lootz.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
They are engaged.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Wow ninety three point one WPOC traffic.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
You're welcome. I spared you the details of the ongoing
Diddy trial.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Good, thank you?

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Yeah, all right, Uh, here are the worst spots on
the road right now. The outer loop at Liberty Road,
there's an accident there. Thanks for stopping. Go back to
Park Heights. On the inner loop at bel Air Road,
there's an accident from earlier still causing delays. Things are
back to up to on a throwback Thursday, our.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Girl Trishy will actually Garth Brooks's squeeze.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
You know what'd he call her the queen?

Speaker 2 (04:57):
He calls her the queen mis Yeah, all right, there
she is miss Yearwood.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
And here she is Miss Bethany real quick.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Earlier this morning, around seven thirty, you were talking about
kind of a bad experience you had.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Yeah, the doctor's office. Lately, I went to the doctors.
I did not feel listened to or heard. In fact,
felt really dismissed.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
And it was it was. It was not great.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
So I told that whole story earlier, and a lot
of people texted in, and turns out I am not alone.
Someone said, oh my god, Bethany, that's awful. You need
to find a new doctor. Someone said, Bethany, my wife's
a doctor. She comes home and tells me stories all
the time. You need to find someone who's going to
listen to you. And then there's somebody who said that
their daughters ob dismissed all of her concerns and then

(05:48):
she ended up on life support.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Oh, in the ICU. The baby was on ICU.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Now, everybody's fine, but you know, it's just like, you've
got to be your own advocate.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yes, Sarah the.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Physical therapist texted in, and so Bethany's story happens way
too many times. I have numerous patients that complain of
feelings like their opinions don't matter.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
You've got to be your own advocate.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Yeah, if you're not comfortable with your doctor one million percent.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Somebody said you can get a second opinion, a third opinion,
a tenth opinion.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
It's your body. So thanks everybody for all the support.
And I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
I know there are people listening right now who have
felt dismissed at the doctor's office. And I'm sorry because
it's a terrible feeling. Yes, so hey, well maybe this
will be a better feeling.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
We'll put you in the hot seat and we'll give
you concert tickets if you can survive it. Ninth caller
now eight hundred three around my mind making some love
with Luke Combs. They're on ninety three point one WPOC
Michael J. Bethany and our nearly famous hot seat. Uh

(06:52):
and Chila, you're familiar with the hot seat.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Right, yeah? Yeah. We're gonna ask you three questions.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
You got to answer within three seconds otherwise you don't
want to hear that.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
So we can give you some concert tickets if you win.
Let's go, Bethany, let's get hot.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Question number one, do you consider yourself more of an
explorer or more of a homebody explorer?

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Really? I mean different things? All right?

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Question number two, this will be interesting to hear your
answer to this. Since you work overnight, which hours of
the day do you feel like you're at your best?

Speaker 3 (07:31):
I'm not saying that twelve o'clock at night, midnight. Oh.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Question number three, if you were a go ahead flavor
of ice cream, what flavor would you be? Strawberry?

Speaker 3 (07:52):
And think about it. She's going with the berries.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
All right.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Well, listen, you've.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Just won tickets to see a guy who we've not
seen yet, but everybody's telling us he's incredible, a very huge,
very popular Christian.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Artist and his name is Brandon Lake. There you go.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
He's going to be at cfg Bank Arena and you're
gonna be there too. In March of twenty six, Way
to Go, they.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Yeah, God love thee.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Well, you know, Hoody was from the band Hoody and
the Blowfish from a North Carolina or South South Carolina,
and then Scott he's from Carolina, so no wonder they sound.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
So good together.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
You know, we've become good friends over the years just
through golf and football and we're in the same you know,
Fantasy football league together and so that's just all friends stuff.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
I've never hit him up for business at all, but
I was.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
I was actually kind of nervous to hit him up, like,
oh my, you got to think, like that's one of
their babies, you know, even gonna like this song, I
don't know, but we wrote it with you in mind,
and he was like, oh dude, we're all about it,
and the rest of the guys loved in the band
and the rest is history.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Well there it is the iHeart Country World premiere brand
new that's called Bottle Rockets Scotty McCreary, Hooty and the Blowfish.
Of course, that means Darius Rucker will be giving you
the premiere of that every hour throughout the day, so
you'll hear it again this morning at eight.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Ninety three point one WPOC.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Now, prudy, So what is trending?

Speaker 2 (09:30):
A whole lot of good news for the Ravens because
King Henry is a Raven now. They signed a two
year extension to his contract. You said it was thirty million, million.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Dollars, twenty five of it guaranteed. So you know that's
good because I read that he spends two hundred fifty
thousand dollars on his body every year.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Oh at least, yeah, two hundred and fifty thousand on
his diet, on how he exercises trainers. Yeah, yeah, I
mean well, I mean it's it's his income, so he
certainly appreciates it and takes care of it.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
The other big news is that the Ravens schedule, along
with all the NFL team schedules, have been announced. I
just wonder from any raven super fan today, what are
you most excited about? What is your takeaway from the schedule,
which starts week one, September seventh against the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
I love a good rematch, yep. So there we go
with that. Raven's trying to get it gone. Is there
a specific game you're excited about?

Speaker 2 (10:33):
Or I'm just looking down the list. We go Bills, Browns, Lions.
That's gonna be fun. My I've got you know, the
Detroit connection and it's always a good battle. Then week
four Kansas City Chiefs. We start off with some tough ones. Yeah,
then the Texans Rams we get to buy In week seven,
everybody looks when do we get the break? And what
does that mean? You examine that fifty different ways from Sunday.

(10:56):
Then we play the Bears. That's gonna be Cools, Vikings,
then the Browns again, Jets, Bengals, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati. Gotta play
those teams. But then we play the Patriots, Packers and
Steelers in the final week of the season, which is
always a showdown for the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
The texts have come in for Scotty McCreery and Hootie
the Blowfish's new song.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
What did they say?

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Everybody loves it. Someone said two of my favorites together.
Then someone else said it's wild how dominating Darius voice
is compared to everyone else.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
I love it. He's a star. Ninety three point one
w POC traffic all.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Right, an accident on the interloop at bel Air Road
has the right lane block things are stop and go
back to Perring Parkway. It was an overturn director trailer earlier.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
They do no wrong? Then why'd you stay the.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
Play the quizzy n.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
Me the reason.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
We've got the quest for Kenny Chesney coming up in
a few You better stay close here at ninety three
point one WPOC. But first, Bethany, you promised us something
about a doctor, and we're kind of concerned about it.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
To be honest, yeah, you know what. To be honest
with you, I'm a little concerned. Well, what's going on?

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Okay, So there's with I don't want to get too
far in the weeds on this, but I have a
couple of different hormonal issues.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Okay, And so I was at.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
My end of chronologist the other day I found out
that I have to have my thyroid removed.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
That's a big deal, I know.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
I mean, I'm not trying to freak you out, but
it's say, anytime the doctors say they want to take
something out.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Right, exactly, I know this is a surgery that many
many people have. So you know, I'm not like, I
don't know, nobody super concerned out about it. Well, yeah,
I understand, I'm saying it's understandable. So I am asking
my undercronlogists a series of questions about hormones and what happens.
And you know, I already have this other thing that

(13:09):
makes me sick a lot of the time, and so
I was asking her about that and she was like, no, no, no, no, no,
that's not how it works. You're not going to get sick,
like so dismissive. So I guess belittling. And then and
I was like, well, I'm sorry, but you know, and

(13:30):
then I put me on my heels. I hated, and
I was like, I'm sorry, like I have a lot
of questions because I already don't feel good and now
you're telling me I have to have this, and I'm
just worried. And then she said, the fact that hormones
makes you sick is a TikTok thing.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Okay, it's not real.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
That's crazy, obviously, that's I can't believe a doctor would
say that.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
I was like, that's I did a TikTok thing.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
And your hormones are what control your entire every mechanism,
you know what I mean, Like your whole body is fine?

Speaker 1 (13:58):
I do, yeah, I'm I was so put off and
so like.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Like I don't. But then they're like, well, you got
to make a follow up blah blah blah.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
So I make the follow up and I and then
that that irritated me that I did that because I
don't want to go back, right, I gotta I gotta
get a different doctor. But I made the appointment, and
so I guess I don't even know what My major
issue is here is that like I wasn't listened to.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
My concerns were not addressed.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
This doctor has great ratings, is you know ivy league educated?

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Like what else am I supposed to do? Like do
you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (14:32):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
I felt like I just like I just crumbled.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
And then I made another appointment, which which irritates me
about myself because I was thinking, like I just fell
into I just fell into line, you know what I mean.
I didn't stand up for myself. I didn't say you know,
you're wrong, like you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (14:50):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Well, I the only thing I can tell that I
said to you off there, and I'll say it here
is I had a similar situation and when I felt
any kind of of concern or not comfortable, one million
percent with a doctor, I'm going to go over their head.
So there was a there was a internist. I guess
that's the right thing. He basically did like Colon's and

(15:13):
all that kind of stuff. He was recommending surgery. And
I'm like, Okay, I'm going to find out if this
guy's a quack or you know, does his boss and
you can go to the chief of any specialty. And
the gentleman took my appointment. We sat down and like
and kind of eased my concerns. You've got you've got
to be your own advocate. That's the biggest thing. Yeah,

(15:33):
you cannot go into a situation where you're not one
million percent comfortable when anybody's talking about anything invasive, right,
or even medication.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
For that matter.

Speaker 4 (15:43):
Right.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
I mean, I I just you know, I can't. I
feel so bad that this is what's happening. Like, you know,
we were just talking to Carly Pierce a few weeks
ago and she said that something similar happened to her.
The doctors just didn't listen to her, And I'm like,
what is happening, Like, what are we doing?

Speaker 3 (15:58):
All right?

Speaker 2 (15:59):
Well, I wonder if anybody else is going through something
like this, and what would your advice be, Yeah, you know,
I say you talk to your primary and you'd let
them know what happened.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
You know what.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
All right, we'll get to your text and calls. Toby
Keith first.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
We gotta winners, we gotta losers.
