Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey guys, it's Bethany from the Michael J Morning Show.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
You're listening to Michael J and Bethany after hours.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
So I think I'm still breathing.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Big things are happening for Megan Moroni, and we'll have
huge Megan Moroni news breaking this morning right around seven

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I took a deep dive on this. John Elway, I
want to know about this, Okay. So you know John
Elway was in the NFL for six of the Broncos
quarterback and then he served on the executive committee for
the Broncos.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Bah blah blah.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Well, he and his former agent and longtime business partner
and friend, Jeff Spurbeck, okay, and their wives all went
to the Stagecoach Music Festival last weekend, all right, okay,
and then they went to.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
A party afterward.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
It seems like they live on a golf course community
or Okay, they were staying at a golf course community,
so they you know, in those communities you like travel
via golf cart.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Sure, so they were.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
John Ellie was driving the golf cart and Spurback was
with him, fell off the cart onto some pavement.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Oh, he was.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Breathing when the first responders got there. I took him
to the hospital. He died yesterday blunt force trauma. It
was only sixty two.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
I just think that's wild. It was alcohol involved. It's
got to be a question.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
It doesn't say yes or no.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
But they did go to a music festival and then
they went to an after party.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
So like, I mean, I don't know, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Speculation, but it just really said And I just I
don't know if I've ever heard of anybody getting that
that injured on a golf cart.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Wow, Hey, driving is definitely an issue in Anrondo County.
The new automated speed cameras are up and I wanted
to share this Bethanye. Okay everyone, because from six am
to eight pm now Monday through Friday, citations will be
issued following a fifteen day warning period. And I'm going
to tell you exactly where these cameras are, so listen carefully.

(02:05):
The cameras are located at Bellgrove Elementary School in Brooklyn,
Park Lynn Thincom Elementary School, the School of Incarnation and
Gambrels at Benfield Elementary in Saverna Park and Marley Middle
School in glen Burnie. Thirty three cameras are up now
in the county and they're going to have forty when

(02:26):
they're all finished. So here's the whole lesson for all
of us to remember when we're driving around school zones.
It doesn't matter if there's a camera. It's not about
getting a ticket. It's about being keeping our kids safe.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Yes it is.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
And the school year is winding down, and I say
that because kids are in a good mood. We're all
in the better roo and they're running here and there
and they're not paying attention. So just God forbid anything
were to happen. We just want to remind you use
common sense and in Anrondo County you're going.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
To start getting tickets in the next fifteen days. Ninety
three point one WP.

Speaker 3 (03:02):

of approval. Birthday boy, Tim McGrath, if you see him,
give him a birthday, hugged. The other news that I'm
so excited about. Megan Maroney dropped on her Instagram the
news that she has not only you know, we knew
she was touring and playing shows with Kenny Chesney, but

(04:38):
now she's doing a song with Kenny and it's coming
out next Friday.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Here's what's important.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Kenny says it's the first time he's ever recorded a
song that was written just for him.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
That's interesting.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
So here they are together. Are we ready for a snippet?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (05:19):
What do we think? I feel like that's gonna be big.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Yep, Megan Maroney and Kenny Chesney together. It's coming out
not this Friday, not tomorrow, a week from tomorrow, on
the ninth.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
And there's news about Lanny Wilson. Yeah, she's gonna be
in a movie.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
You know, she was on Yellowstone for a little while
and now she has her first movie role.

the chick who wrote it ends with us.

would be good. Congratulations to Laney And that is your

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Happy birthday to Tim McGraw.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
We gave him a shout out in the Music City
Minute on Throwback Thursday.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
We got to play a Tim McGrath song. Yeah, and
I was.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Thinking, it's Military Appreciation Month. We've got a perfect song
from Tim. In just a second. But while we're talking
about throwbacks, Bethany, you flashback to some of your favorite
foods that you loved as a kid.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
I was talking to some friends the other day and
we were just reminiscing about stuff that our parents used
to make for us, or like, you know, it's one
of the people throughout a fried blowny sandwich.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Oh my gosh, we need this all the time When
I was a kid and stink the whole house up right.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
I remember?

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Funny.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
I remember my dad used to come home for work
for his lunch break and he used to eat tuna
right out of the can.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
And I was thinking, without mayo, just eat right out
of the camp really, And I was like, wow, someday
I want to grow up. We ate a lot of
craft macaroni and cheese.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
I remember that when I was a kid, I loved
my mom's spaghetti. So you know how the eminem song,
he says something about mom's spaghetti, and I was like, yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
It's funny.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
You were flashing back on things you loved as a kid.
I was just thinking of the nights that my mom
would make dinner and she'd put something on our plate
and she insisted that we ate it and I couldn't
do it. It was Brussels sprouts or it was liver,
and those two I'd be She's like, well, you're sitting
here too, yeah, oh no, And I'd be at that
table until about midnight.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
I'm like, I.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Live now.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Yeah all right, So what about you? What is the
well we do throwbacks, you know, Throwback Thursday. What is
the food that you remember when you were a kid.
It takes you right back to childhood.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Sometimes people still even eat it, like when they want
a moment of nostalgia, They're like, I want.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
To yeah, but I have never wanted to go back
have liver. I just don't forget about it.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
That is cruel.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Now, how about I throw back from Tim McGraw for
our military.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
My hands and needing yours on the first thing.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
To be whiskey out for you to close all the lock.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
All the doors, wain thing man bread, baby, I need
you to night. Let's see how slow we Maybe I
want you in the worst way.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
I want you, the worst I want you.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
And the worst way baby, little play on words, loving
that ninety three point one w poc Michael J and
Bethany foods that take you back to being a kid.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Cinnamon sugar toast?

Speaker 3 (09:12):
I know, did you ever have that where you you
make the toast with butter, then you put cinnamon sugar
on it sticks to it because of the butter. Then
you put that in a bowl and pour milk in it,
warm milk.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Oh no, that's hey, y'all, get your recipe books out.
J Is on the prowl here, Oh my god, poor
Man's pizza. How about this one? You got a slice
of bread, whatever red sauce you got in the cabinet,
and then you just throw some cheese on that.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Okay, well, whatever goes.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
My brother used to make me a cherry pie sandwich.
Someone said, it's cool whip and cherry pie filling between whitebread.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
That sounds good when I was a kid, we used
to make mud sandwiches.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Mud.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
What is that? Mud? Traffic mud, little mud pies. You
didn't make this in your kid. Geez, somebody's done. Oh

(10:18):
that's sweet. Drew Baldridge.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
You're on ninety three point one w POC your buddies
first thing in the morning, Michael J and Bethany and
boy are we on top of things for you?

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Ninety three point one w p O C.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
No.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Yeah, the big news this morning, Bethany, the Orioles won
the rubber band game. No, not no, it's the rubber match. Oh,
the rubber match.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Yeah, you know, I think maybe we should try to
help you out a little bit.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Because it's see if anybody is not sure, No, it's
not a rubber band game.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
It's a it's it could have bounced either way, so
they call it is a lot of all expressions that
have stuck around in baseball. And you know in a
two when you win two out of three games, you've
won the rubber match.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Does it have to be a sandwich?

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Well, it's when each team wins a game and then
the third game it can go either way.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Something that sounds that to me seems more like an
Oreo game.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
No, let me let me teach you a few words.
All right, okay, what about.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Let me do this one. What is a can of corn?

Speaker 3 (11:31):
A can?

Speaker 1 (11:32):
A can of corn? You know what that is? Yes,
this is when.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
It's like a you hit it out of the park.
It's like you're hitting a can of corn.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
No, it's a it's a fly ball hit to a player,
typically in the outfield. That's really easy for the outfielder.
Outfielder to catch without even moving. He just stands there
and he catches a can of corn. It's like catching
it off the shelf.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
I was picturing like smashing the ball with the bats
so hard that the corn just goes flying.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
No, there's no corn flying. Flashing the leather do you
know what flashing?

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (12:02):
I got in trouble for that once in high school.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
That's when a fielder makes a great play. You know,
his leather is hot and he's flashing it. Oh, what
about a fungo? Do you know what a fung go
with fungo?

Speaker 1 (12:13):
So this is when the pitcher gets a little wobbly.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
No, it's a lightweight bat with a long, skinny barrel
used by the coaches, and they hit just real soft
ground balls or fly balls too.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Oh to practice fielding exactly.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Now, that sounded like I knew what I read.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Are trying to help out, Bethany with all this baseball terminology.
Orioles beat the Yankees last night. I think that's pretty simple.
And they did not take the rubber band game, and
they cleared the benches. Fight, Yes, there was a fight.
Well and it didn't really turn into much last night.
I was ready for a Neston was upset when he
got to second base. He stole second base, and you

(13:04):
know what that means.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
He stole it because when he when the picture wasn't looking,
he ran and he got there.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
I know that part all right.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
And and so when he got there, this infielder for
the Yankees, he didn't like how you landed on him.
And because he had gotten hit in the head. Heston
got hit last year. So it cleared the benches. That
the bullpen, you know what that is?

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Yeah, that's where everybody sits.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Well, that's where the relief pitchers said, oh out, And
somebody on the text out of questions, Bethany, do you
know what walk off home run is?

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Do you know what a walk off?

Speaker 2 (13:35):
So this is when you hit a home run and
everyone's clapping and you do a fancy walk no.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
No, walk off is when you when your home run
wins the game.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Oh, at the end of the game, it's a walk off.
It's like everybody so home.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
And typically what happens is if it's at the bottom
of the inning and it's a home game, so you
know you end it by like when you score, you
that's it.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
The game's over.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
It's a walk off, and they come home and everybody
pours water and gatorade and you know, you go crazy
at home plate.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
Okay, he got it. I got it. Let's talk about
something I think you know more about. Let's go right here.
I keep out in the loop of it and pop
culture and the things we sudden care about, but somehow
we really do this part. I got got it.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Chris Hemsworth is going to start in Subversion. It's a
submarine thriller on Amazon Prime. Guy Ritchie's gonna direct Roadhouse too,
which I don't I'm looking around here and I don't
think anybody asked for that, but we're getting it in.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
It would fights in that movie too.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Jake Jillenhall will return and also produce Oh, Prince William.
This is this is juicy. Okay, okay, So Megan Markle,
your girlfriend, you know my mind. Yes, she's married to
Prince Harry. Right. Well, she keeps using her Royal Highness
Duchess of Sussex and she's not allowed to anymore because
she got stripped. They I still say it, but Prince

(15:02):
William is ticked off about it. He's like, you're not
allowed to use that title. You left the family, blah
blah blah blah whatever. So sources close to the crown
say when he's king, he will find a way to
make sure she doesn't use that title anymore.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Whatever.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Bill Belichick was criticized, of course, for the interview. He
had the weird sweatshirt on, and then his girlfriend interrupted
the several times to say, we're not going to.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Talk about this, not talking about posts. That's exactly right.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
Well, now he's he's criticizing CBS for presenting a false narrative,
and I, okay, I'm done with this. And here's why,
because this was all a publicity stunt. Because I think Jordan,
the girlfriend, made him wear that sweatshirt because she knew
people would talk about it, and she did the interrupting
on purpose because she knew people were going to.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Talk about it, not talking about posts.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Yes we are, and I think nobody else was going
to buy the book unless she did this.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Okay, not talking about posts, thank you. And then lastly,
this is a sad story. Did you hear about this?

Speaker 2 (16:03):
John Elway's business park partner and agent, Jeff Spurbeck. They
were golfing yesterday. Uh, and John Elway was driving a
golf cart crashed. Oh and Jeff died in a golf
cart crash.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
How fast were they going? I don't know. Details of
the incident have not been released yet. I'm like, what
did they go off? A cliff? Blunt force trauma? They
had a tree, I don't know. Maybe he landed on
his head when he fell out. Oh my god, nobody's
traffic because you're not going that fast in a golf cart. No,
I can't believe. It's really sad. He was six sixty

(16:40):
two years old.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Damn all right, beatw Parkway northbound at it was like
the excellent to the shoulder.

Speaker 5 (16:53):
Good girl, No, good for you. You better get so
get on you goodbye.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
It's Michael j and Bethany on ninety three point one WPOC. Hey,
good morning, and you know what, I want to go
right to this story about what happened last night.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Yeah, so we were out on the town last night.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Well, we got together with some clients you know, through
the radio station, and just a bunch of folks that
are country fans and just really you know, big supporters
and partners.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
You're at ninety three point one WPOC and.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
We were over at Mount Washington Tavern. Thank you so
much for the hospitality. Oh, their food is always great
and the service is great. Old fashions were a little
too tasty.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
Yeah, So here's what happened.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
One of our clients, Jo Spice. They are a huge
part of not only the uh you know, the food
industry here in Baltimore, but really the entire country because
Jospice makes the spice that goes on crabs. And if
you've eaten steam crabs in any crab house in this

(17:56):
entire area, I guarantee you it's Jape.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Everybody's you know, conditioned to think of something old. No,
it's Jo Spice that's going on the crabs. Facts you
ask any restaurant that you get you get crabs from,
so Don and Ginger who run Jao Spice. Sweetest people
in the whole world. Really great fourth generation local business.
They were on Dirty Jobs with Mike Rome Micro. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
Yeah, it was very cool. It was also from here,
right yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
But so I'm listening to Don talk about himself last night,
and I mean I've been with them tons of times,
We've been friends for a long time. But last night
I find out that Don, you're a veteran.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
I did not know about this absolutely.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
I mean I was not a trouble kid or anything
binding me as just stretching imagination. I'll tell two things
to everybody that I believe is the attribute to my success.
Number One, I really did listen to my parents when
I was younger. And two, the Marine Corps. I mean,
it just gave you to drive and the discipline that
keep going on, never quit and always. You know, some

(19:03):
people worry about things they can't control. And the Marine
Corpsy teaching and you know, uh going if you call
the Marine Corps infantry. So if your buddy got shot
next to you and you can't sit there and uh
sitting on your lap and want to cry, you got
to carry to carry the fight on, you know what
I mean?

Speaker 3 (19:20):
Right, Wow, and and speaking, I mean, it makes me
so grateful that we have the people that we have
in our service. Where where where were you stationed?

Speaker 4 (19:32):
Well with the Paris on first reboot camp and up
the Lagoon for infantry training school. Then I was I'd
never seen the West coast, requested to go at the
Pendleton of California, and then I did that and then
we uh we were infantry, so we we did some
fly overs Korea, Philippines, Hong Kong, Okinawa, Panama, and this

(19:52):
goes on.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
The for East tour. I think it's interesting, Like I
don't think, I don't want to take.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
For granted the idea that the military can help you
see the world r like in ways that you wouldn't
ordinarily get a chance to do.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
Right.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
They can. And in nineteen eighty eight, when they had
great fires the others thing, they called us up. The
fight of fires with the army couldn't put out, they
called the Marine Corps up to help you.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Right.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
Well, I know you guys have a lot of rivalry
ooh rah between the Marines and the Army, but you're
all you're all tough as hack.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (20:25):
You know, at the end of the day we're all
helped to do keeping liberties and freedom of this great country.
And even the Coast Guard. I mean, you'd be surprised
what the Coast Guard does in daily basis. These guys
get some high respect too.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Well. Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything you've done.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
And we love you, know you and Ginger and Jay
Spice and you guys are the best. It was great
sceneing you last night, and uh and I just wanted
to say thank you.
