And that would be John Ferrazi, head football coach at she And Good morning,
coach, Morning coach. How areyou? I'm doing great? Come
on, John, let's go upand add them call maybe first day?
Yeah, you know, yeah,we're ready to go. We're ready to
go, getting ready to get there, getting ready a yeah, and you

(02:45):
know the great I picked up thepaper on Thursday and I said, look
at this Shean's field not ready.Oh well, that ends all that good
stuff. So you'll be a guywithout a field for a while. That's
what it's looking like. I can, I can here, and I'm glad
I'm not knocking you. I hearthe disgust in your voice, and I'm

(03:06):
just talking about it before before thebreak. You gotta get all the stuff,
you gotta everything over another field.Games now have been moved. I
guess I was on your schedule yesterdayand you're gonna have to play at Liman
Hall. Now is that right?Yeah, it looks it looks like we're
gonna be playing across town and probablyinto probably into you think so you're thinking,

(03:31):
oh really you think it'll be Well, that's what's projected right now.
We're all, you know, it'sa little set up. We're all hoping
that can get sped up. Butright now, that's what we're told,
all right, John, So thedecision was made to put new turf on
the field, right, Yes,And they couldn't do it probably until after

(03:55):
school was out, I'm assuming,or did they start before do you know?
Yeah? It started about June first, Oh, it did, all
right, So that's even before schoolwas out. And there they are and
now here it is almost September first, and and I haven't been out there.

(04:16):
I have been to West Taven becauseI'm down there. But would you
how far are they into this?Have they done anything? Yeah? I
mean it looks as though when whenyou when you walk in, when you
drive in, Yeah, that they'repretty close, if not ready for the

(04:38):
turf to be rolled out. Okay, you know the track tract. It
looks as though the grounds are setto go. So they are, Okay,
I understand that's just that's just froma bird's eye view, so looks
probably more there's there's probably more toit than that, but we no,

(05:01):
they don't tell you things like that. You're only the coach for god sakes.
Uh. Anyway, I know,And of course now not only she
undergoing that, but there's also anew athletic director out there, has been
out there us just a short timenow. That's Gary Gravina, one time
former football coach at Branford and thenassistant coaches a coach at other schools and

(05:25):
now takes over as athletic director atSHE And so he's a new guy and
basically and he's got to try toshift all these games. I'm looking now,
and you do have scrimmages and uhschedule, I'm assuming that the scrimmages
now will be away Ken, Yeah, we are going to have one on

(05:46):
our grass field on the grass field, Okay, Yeah, Gary's Gary's job
at this point. Probably more difficulttime probably what you're saying, you have
to reschedule our stuff. But youknow all the other fall sports as well,
right, just soccer and all thatstuff too. Yeah, soccer,
both soccer, field, hockey, you name it. You know, I

(06:10):
know he's been he's been in everyday, working diligently on and we're bone
every day. Yeah, I'm onthe phones. Yes, you're right.
Yeah. So you know, betweenballots and practice and just trying to make
sure like we got all the schedulingthings taking care of. You know,
Carry's being great and navigating through thatand you know, trying to make it

(06:30):
easier on us as well if they'retrying to coach. Right. So your
first game, scheduled game is Friday, September eighth. You are on the
road, You're at Leedgyard. That'sone of the Alliance games. All Hail
the Alliance by the one. Uhthere you go. That's that's why I
tell al Carbone all the time.I have a T shirt all hell of
the Alliance. And you open upat Ledyard. Then you you'll play north

(06:56):
An. You had two home gamesin a row. Both will be the
Lyman Hall north Haven and cross awayat Xavier. So and you've got now
also September. I didn't even seethis October seventh now at Limanhall against Foreign
So you're looking possibly at November Octobertwenty seventh against Amity as your first official

(07:19):
home game at your new field. Is that right? As of right now,
that is what we are looking at. So these seniors who I was,
who would I know, just wantto play their games at home,
and I don't blame them, willget to play one two games at home
hand and amity. Is that niceanyway? That's what that's what it's looking

(07:44):
like. Okay, fortunately, yeah, I know you're right. Tell me
and of course the SCC and Ialways call it the unforgiving SEC. Tell
us with what you lost, nowguys coming in, what you have coming
back? How does she in shapeup for this coming season? Well,

(08:05):
now that we get into that, well we got to get into that.
Yeah, we're we're you know,we're we're we're excited about our season.
We get a lot of guys back, you know, we're I think it's
I think it's eight eight. We'reeight returning starters on both sides of the
ball. You know, we werevery young last year. We started three

(08:26):
freshmen last year and a lot ofsophomores. We're we're competing as well,
so you know, there's gonna besome youth on the field, whether it's
you know, sophomores that started asfreshmen or those that were, you know,
competing to play. You know that, as always you'll have some first
time juniors on the field and we'vegot some veteran guys that have been starting

(08:50):
for a while, so there's athere's definitely a mix. But all in
all, you know, we've hadwe've had a great offseason, a great
summer. You know, the teamhas really come together and and they're excited
to get going for the first dayI've had here, and you know,
we couldn't we couldn't be more pleasedas a coaching staff as so what we're

(09:11):
getting out of them so far good, that's that's that's that's good to hear,
especially under you know the circumstances andwhat you're doing all this so that's
great. And uh, you're let'ssee what the I don't have it in
front of me, but the divisionswhich I could look up here, are
you asked or doubles? Doubles?Okay? And I see on your schedule

(09:37):
you have Ledyard and then you havenorth Haven, Cross Xavier, Foreign,
Brantford, Amity, Law Hand Handand Liman Hall. How'd you get that
cupcase schedule? Of course I saythat I guess some would say we earned
our way there. You know whatyou know, John, I kid you

(10:00):
about that. It is you're absolutelyI mean, and you are the smallest
school in the SEC. Correct. That is correct? Oh okay, well,
so you play all the teams you'rein tier are you tier two?
Yes? So you play all theteams in Tier two, which now just

(10:24):
happened to include hand In Xavier, who have as much right to be in
Tier two as you know. Idon't well, I didn't understand this.
It's not my business, but uh, I don't agree with it. But
then again, Hamden and west Havenwere in Tier two last year. They're

(10:46):
back up and one and quite frankly, and that's where they belong. And
I think hand and Xavier belonged theretoo, but that's my own opinion.
But they somehow think John, whenthey do these tiers and everything's got to
be equal, you know, seven, seven and seven. I don't understand
why that has to be. Yeah, I think it's hard to define equal.
And I think when you're when you'reonly factoring in wins and losses,

(11:11):
you know there's you know, there'sgoing to be flaws in the system and
you know stuff on us. Youknow, we don't make excuses. No,
you've done a great job. Iwant to state championship. Yeah,
you want to state championship. Andit's been grief done. How many years

(11:33):
now? What years is for you? There? Head coach? Nineteen nineteen
wow, nineteen season coach? Whereis where is that time gone? John?
I feel like every year I getasked at it say the same thing.
I know, I mean, butlooking I mean Ledyard on the road,

(11:56):
North Haven defending champs US new coachat Xavier foreign home, Branford away
Amity. Amity is a double Lschool, aren't they? Yes, Okay,
they're home and you got law wowhand hello, and then of course

(12:18):
thanks again Thanksgiving with the Linmanholme dauntingschedule. But you know what she and
has proved over the years that boythey can play, didn't play with anybody.
When you're on the field, anythingcan happen. What about you mentioned
guys back on the ball, returningboth sides, skilled positions I'm assuming is

(12:41):
included there. Yeah, we're we'reOur quarterback is returning first third year as
a starter. Paul Dory. Oh, yes, Paul, I know him,
Yes, you know Paul. Paul'sdeveloped in the offseason and you know,
he understands the offense and the teamswe're trying to do. Is a
team player and he's been a greatleader, you know, all off season,

(13:03):
so you know, we're expecting alot out of him. Brady Rasachi
started. Yes, he's back, you know, and you know, in
in tremendous shape, and I thinkwe're going to see, you know,
an even more developed version of himthis year. So you know, we
get some couple you know, welose John Godriatino on the outside, but

(13:26):
you know, we got some upand comers, you know, that are
going to replace that production that wehad out there. Dante Denozzo returns,
you know, should should replace GogaLatino on the outside, and we got
a couple of speed, shifty guysand Jaden Doherty, Tucker Larson just to
name a few. So I thinkwe've got some playmakers out there as well.

(13:48):
It's just a matter of them, you know, a matter of time
to get him game reps and gamespeed reps, and you know, but
you know they've they've they've shown goodstripes you know, to out the off
season and then throughout these practices aswell. How are the numbers John,
Our numbers are a little up foryou, which is not something I've been

(14:11):
able to say over the years, because we probably had a very small roster.
But our numbers drop a little bit, which is you know, certainly
helping from practice stander. You know. Now we just keep developing guys and
keep guys healthy. We can practiceat a you know, at the pace
we want to practice that. Okay, where will you practice today? Will
you practice on your field today?Yeah, we're on our grass field pretty

(14:35):
much where we plan on being, you know, for untill further notice,
I understand. Uh. And thenof course your first scrimmage is on the
twenty third, Is that right atFitch? No, that's home. You're
home again. They're gonna they're goingto come to us, They're going to
we're gonna We're going to do iton the grass shield. Oh good,

(14:56):
okay, very good. So yougot a few days ready to go.
Uh. And again, this SCCis yet, as I say, the
unforgiving because and again in your tiertier two, with those teams in the
tier two alone, is a dauntingschedule. Yeah, it's no walk in

(15:18):
the park, that's for sure.I know, you know, it's no
walk in the park schedule, especiallywith the teams there obviously, as you
said, Xavier in hand coming down, you know, to two programs with
him tradition, and you know they'realways you know, physical, fast,

(15:39):
tough, you know, very wellcoached. You know we have our hands
you know, Hilla, you knowwon't cut off for us, you know
with those guys. I remember whenyou played hand In what a couple of
years ago, right, and andthat was as you said it maybe playing
playing the big schools, the bigguys and all that. Not only and

(16:00):
that was a great game by theway, but you got beat up physically
in some of those games, right, yeah, it was. It was.
It was difficult last year, youknow, hand In and west Haven
back to back. You know,we had arguably our top three players go
down against Handen and then the followingweek without them and some others going into

(16:23):
west Haven was tough. And youknow that's what you go through with the
small schools, you know, isyou know, if we stay healthy,
I think we got to fight andchance, but it's it's depth throughout the
game. And when guys go down, you know that that would comes the
Achilles heel. So you know,we're you know, let's try why we

(16:45):
try to focus so much on howwe train and how it conditioned throughout,
not just in the summer, butyou know, throughout the year, you
know, so that we could wecould be hopefully be a little bit more
durable when the season comes around. No know what kind of schedule we get
exactly. Now you is all backready to go, same staff. Yeah,
yeah, we're ready to go,ready to go. Well, I'll
tell you what, you've done greatthings with this program, including the state

(17:10):
championship. Uh. And you've reallytaken over and and done a job.
I certainly hope that maybe you getsome good news and maybe you get on
your field a little a little soonerthe new turf there, because I know
you're playing in Wallingford and I realizethat. Okay, so it's it's cross

(17:32):
town, but it's not your field. It's not the same thing. Uh.
And you know, so I hopeyou get there quicker. And uh
yeah, I hope so too.I'm hoping with you. Uh So,
I wish you. I wish youa lot of luck and hopefully we'll see
it during the season. Get someshe and football on here. Uh.
And I know one thing, asI told you, and before you are,
you're always prepared. Your team isready to go, and that's what

(17:56):
I love about. She and HIGHKhave done a great job, John,
you and your stuff. Appreciate that. Anytime you do a great job.
Done your games. I know, right through the playoffs, including that great
game in the rain down in Derbywhen you played an Sonia, one of
my favorite of all time. Idon't forget that one. I don't forget
it at all. John. Anyway, have yourself a great preseason. We'll

(18:18):
talk to you again. Appreciate it. Thanks having me on
