This is the Long Horns Monday edition of The Morning
Kickoff right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
The Horns kickoff the season with a no doubter.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
The Aggies, well, let's just say their quarterback might have
saw some ghosts during that time. It took Michigan a second,
but they pulled away from Fresno State. Now they get
ready for our early season bar fight, as the Texas
Longhorns and the Michigan Wolverines get ready to have a
brawl for it all, well, at least in the game
(01:20):
two of the regular season. We look at the top
ten and see how some of the SEC teams faired.
Texas Volleyball and Scottie Scheffler have a lot in common.
And of course, Mark Henry gives us the world's strongest
take at eight forty. I am your host, Mike Harball Hartes,
my co host, as I just missioned, is a WWE
(01:42):
Hall of Famer and the world's strongest man. He is
the Mark Henry, my Goy Khalil is behind the boards.
And if you want to be a part of the show,
texts the word Texas followed by your message to eight
one five three zero. Standard data and message rates may apply.
That's the word Texas followed by your message to eight
(02:02):
one five three zero. And before we get to hear
from Mark, Henry and Khalil, I want you to hear
from the Texas locker room. That's what it sound about
(02:36):
right there. That's one way to start off your Monday
right there. Hey man, good morning fellas, Good morning man.
That's that's what you want to hear. That's you want
to hear it. And you know, I made reference to
the fact that the Texas fighting song you always hear.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Them talk bad about A and M. And when you
hear A N M song, they talk bad about Texas.
I'm so glad that that rival is back. But you know,
as far as the women's volleyball and Scottie Shffler, I
think there is a difference, and it might be sixty
plus million Simonia.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Yeah, there is a lot of difference when it comes
to that. But as far as number one, that's the
main You can't debate who is the number one stunner
when it comes to both volleyball and the world of golf.
But let's get into this Texas Longhorn football team as
we got a chance to witness the beginning of the
season where Texas was able to get a huge, huge
(03:37):
victory to start it off. First shutout here in game
one for a very long time for the Texas Longhorns,
first shutout of Colorado State, not scoring since twenty thirteen
in a ball game, and it was an all around,
great effort from the offense to the defense to where
(03:57):
they are right now. In the secondary, special teams did
their thing.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
There wasn't a.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Lot of.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
A lot to talk about, right You expected Texas to
go out there and get that victory. We had been
talking about it all week. My initial prediction of the
score was going to be fifty five to ten. I
gave him too much credit to get ten. But I
thought that there were gonna be some big plays, some
opportunities that were going to present them sports on that
(04:28):
team exactly, that you would get at least at least
one seven absolutely, one six point score exactly. And this
what was this the first time that he hadn't scored
a touchdown in quite a while, in quite a while
in a big game.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
No doubt, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
But you also get the fact to look at this
team and the total amount of offense that they gave up. Yes,
they had one hundred yard rusher in Justin Marshall, but
he only ran for four point two yards per carry,
ran twenty five times, and he had to because their
passing game was null and void. That defense was locking
(05:07):
up that passing offense of Colorado State. But here's The
thing that kind of stood out to me about it
the reason why they weren't having big plays. The reason
why they weren't having big plays was because of the
things that Texas talked about. They wanted to if you
catch the ball, we tackle you immediately, and they did
(05:30):
that in this ball game. It was y'all, let you
catch it, but you're not going nowhere after you catch it.
And those were the things that Texas was talking about
for quite some time.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
I thought that one of the I always go with
the negative before I get to the positive, because it's
you know, people say you want the good news or.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
The bad news.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Give me the bad news first, don't stroke my ego
like t have any bad news first, and then let me adjust.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
The bad news to.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Me was I saw defensive lineman's number too much. Yep,
guys are turning sideways. If I can see your number
from the sideline or the sideline angle, then that means
you got turned or you're you're not going forward, you're
going sideways. And that's why we had those big runs.
(06:24):
That's why they had one hundred yard Russia guys are
gonna have to put their face masks in there and
control their man and stay their ground, and I know
that they're stronger than that. I think that that's more
of a schematic thing that guys are going to have
to be told, Hey, look, do your job, but don't
(06:44):
do your job looking at the backfield.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
And it's kind of funny too, because even with those numbers,
Texas played a pretty much of Aanella defense. They weren't
trying to be exotic. They weren't trying to trick anybody.
They weren't trying to show Michigan anything that would lead
them to believe that this is the type of defense
that Texas would play against them.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
No, And the fact of the matter is they held
them to one hundred and ninety two yards of total offense.
We talked about this defense and are they going to
be able to step up. The one area that they
did was in the secondary in the passing game, they
gave up those yards and it's something that we have
to really try to think about. To your point, Okay,
(07:30):
the physicality wasn't there as much as we would have liked.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
In the very beginning. They did get pushed.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
They did have the quarterback throwing off schedule. He wasn't
able to just sit back there and try to pick
people apart, even with that explosive player in Horton. But
you look at this team. This is the team that
we expected to see. This is the secondary that has
got some playmakers in it, Jada Barron being one of them.
(07:57):
And you'll hear about Jaday making a play in my
Hard Knocks Life segment. But you start looking at this
team as a whole and you're like, Okay, there are
some really cool things that are happening with some of
these players. Michael Taffokie is a headhunter. He comes downhill
(08:18):
and lays that hat. I thought David Benda played one
of his better games. You know, he played well in Alabama.
But for him to be the leader that he is
now and being able to come in and enforce certain
things with this football team, I think is huge for him.
We've been hearing about Darren Gilbo, Jalen Gilbot being able
(08:41):
to do his thing. But the one thing that coach
Sark said is that this is a close knit football
team that understands what it's all about.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Sark, it looked today like the guys enjoy playing with
each other. It looked like they're coming together and doing
their thing, almost as if they were like, let's just play.
What was that joy like just watching them doing their
thing today?
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Now you know what it is? Well, that's our culture.
Speaker 6 (09:08):
Like I know, I sometimes people are probably tired of
me saying this, you know, but that's our culture. Like
this is the closest team I've been on. These guys
are a close knit group. And you can feel it,
like you can feel the way they play, whether it's offense, defense,
special teams. In the fourth quarter, all those starters are
in there pulling for those guys that are in there.
(09:30):
And so to think this, that's the first shutout in
a season over since two thousand and four.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
And what did it take to get that?
Speaker 6 (09:37):
An interception by a true freshman in the back of
the end zone with how much ever time left in
the ballgame, a minute to go or whatever it was
in the game, and so everybody kept playing, you know,
And I think that's that's a great sign for us
that the guys when they got in there, worked hard,
played hard, and made plays.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
It's a victory Monday on a long Horns Monday right here,
all sports ready a thirteen hundred the zone. When we
come back, we're going to continue these conversations. We got
a lot more to get into. We're also going to

Way and a couple of players on the squad.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
The game this weekend.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Tell us the good and the bad and the ugly
of what you saw, what you wanted to see, and
what your expectations are leading in to the season. So
all you got to do is voice your opinion on
the iHeart Talkback feature on the iHeartRadio app. Let's get
right into it, guys. I mean, we have a lot
to break down when it comes to this team. But
(19:47):
one of the things that stood out to me was
the youth that was being served on the field. A
lot of players got a chance to play in this game.
I told you guys before the show today, when was
the last time eleven.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Different players caught a pass in a game? After?
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Uh, that's that's a mess if I ever saw exactly
so for them to be able and that what was
the one question? Man, there's so much talent on this team.
How are you going to get the ball to all
these different players? How how are you going to make
that happen? Well, he found a way to make that happen.
He spreaded it out, got a lot of people involved
(20:27):
in One of the people that was involved was one
Trey Wisner. Trey Wisner who finally gets his opportunity to
run the football now has it and he got into
the end zone.
Speaker 27 (20:41):
Youers shifting the tight end, Davison motion hand off, Wisner
up the middle, touchdown Texas. Trey Wister posting up the
middle and cut it right into the end zone for
the first score of the twenty twenty four season.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
That's a big run for Trey Wisner for his first
opportun unity. And that was something that you and I
were talking about. This running game is going to be
just fine. They have enough box back there. Yeah, everybody
look good and hard. I thought that this was a
great recruiting ploy too.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
You have all these guys and they say, well, man,
there's not enough balls to go around. But when the
coaches say, listen, I want multiple receivers getting the ball. Like,
if we have to target one wide receiver, that just
is cooking somebody.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Let them cook.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
But if you can get the ball to multiple receivers,
let's do it. And Texas looked so effective and comfortable.
It wasn't like they were forcing the fact. Oh I'm
gonna do this at least five times six times. I
saw Quinn. Third look, third look is a lot of time.
(21:58):
That means you had one second, two seconds, three seconds
to be able to make your decisions. And we always
said that one of Quinn's problems was decision making and
stepping up in the pocket. What did he do this week?
He made good decisions and he stepped up in the
pocket other than the one time he stepped up and
(22:22):
he should have He should have just kept running, or
he should have dumped it to the back that was
open on the on the outside right.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Because in the very beginning, if you go back and
look at that route where Quinn did throw the interception,
not not Black, Yeah, not Black was open on the
on the corner route, and then the running back had
floated out to the flat, so he had an opportunity.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
But it'll look like an option play.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
But zac nonetheless, it would have been completion and it
would have been the first down. But that's one play,
no doubt. I mean in blue blue had a drop ye,
a past that he should have made. There was two
or three pass is that Quinn threw that he threw
at people's feet that should have been completions. Everybody made mistakes, yeah,
(23:08):
but for the most part. The biggest thing that I
got out of this game was the multiplicity of in
diversity and who they threw the ball to and whar
on down and distance and thus making eleven receivers catch
the ball.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
Yeah, it's been very impressive.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
And not only was that impressive, the running game was there,
led by Jerrick Gibson's sixty seven yards rushing on the ground.
He ran for six point seven yards per carry, got
a touchdown, had a long of twenty two. But Jayden Blue,
Jaydon Blue, got his first start in the league. But
he wanted to talk about Trey Weisner and how good
(23:53):
he was to watch him score his first collegiate touchdown.
Speaker 28 (23:57):
You know, I was probably more happy than anybody went
trade scored. You know, that's that's my roommate and we
go to the hotel. You know, that's my dog. I've
got a coach with him this year, I know what
said and Christian being out, so you know, seeing him
seeing him score was very big for me, seeing how
he had to wait. He just played special teams last year.
Now he's he's in a role where he got to know,
(24:18):
play a lot of balls.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
So he was just good to see for five for
twenty two yards and uh four point four yards per carry.
Good run for him with an opportunity to score a touchdown.
A guy that didn't you know, didn't know if he
was going to be in the mix. He was going
to be in the mix, but he didn't know he
was going to be the number two running back and
got a lot of attention out there. He could have
(24:40):
said the same thing for Blue exactly, like and the
fact that he's he could have said, Man, I had
a good game, Like it was good to be a
you know, to start what did he start with?
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Man?
Speaker 3 (24:52):
My teammate did good? Right, Man, I'm so happy for
that guy.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Bro. That means a lot to me. Yep, you know
I wanted that for my son.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
He didn't get that here initially in his career, but
he ended up his senior year over at vandergriff.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Getting that brotherhood.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
And that is why I feel like this team is
going to be successful this year.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Is they gonna pick guys up when they get down? Yeah,
because believe me, it's coming. There's going to be a
down moment. And that's why Sark mentioned how close this
team is, how this is a close knit squad and
being able to do what they are capable of and
the future of it all. But he did get that
first start and he was excited about it as well.
(25:46):
I guess we can't hear that right now, but we'll
figure that one out. But he was definitely excited about it.
He was happy with the chance of him being the
starting running back and he put up good numbers as well.
So for me, when you get a chance to hear
from Jaden Blue and the excitement to your point of
how excited he was for Trey Wisler, I'm sure all
(26:08):
the other players were happy for him, including himself.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
I meant the lot.
Speaker 28 (26:12):
You know, it was my first start my college career,
and I've been preparing for, you.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Know, probably two more years.
Speaker 28 (26:18):
So to come out here, to be the starter and
to get in the show what I could do was
really special to me.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
And you had Jonathan there as well.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
Did you talk to him, Yeah, I talked to him
before the game.
Speaker 28 (26:26):
I actually had Bridgeon called me and give me some
advice too, so that was kind of good. But you know,
those those are two guys that I looked up to
in the previous years because they did everything right, and
of course they was probably two back to two best
backs in the country that the years that they were started.
So it was good to see. Wow, Wow, you get
(26:47):
a call from Vjon.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
You got Brooks standing on the sideline pumping you up, saying,
hey man, it's your time.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
That's that speaks volume. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
There was a time when when Tom Herman was here,
he blacked out the windows. He didn't want other players
to come on the yard on the forty acres to a.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Part of the program because.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
He thought that they would undermined him. That's not the
way sports work. That's called insecurity. That's insecurity.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
Ya.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
If you're gonna think about somebody undermining you're you're being insecure.
You need iron sharping's iron. Tony Brackens. I've seen him
multiple times pull guys aside, Hey man, I watched this.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
Why are you not doing this? Big Big Kenny Simms.
Speaker 23 (27:45):
He you.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
You don't think that Doug English would know a little
bit about playing defensive line. Let these guys teach. Let
these guys pass that knowledge on. They were great. There's
been some good players at Texas, but there's also been
some historically great players.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
And just because you was good don't mean you could teach.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
But there's guys like Tim Crowder who grab people and
work with him and taught them fundamentals and not only
just the physical side of the ball, but the mathematics
of football, the science of football, position down in distance,
(28:32):
like knowing what you see in front of you, all
your gaps, gap, integrity, the stuff that matters in football.
And it was really really cool to see Jon call
him out his day.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
He got to he's getting ready for a season himself, Brooks.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
I'm so glad that he was here so he could
physically put his hands on blue and say, come on, man,
let's go, it's your time.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
Was that was beautiful to me. Yeah, that's what it's
supposed to be about. I mean, you talked about the
brotherhood and being able to be those types of players.
But the thing about it is those are guys that
you shared a room with. Those are guys that you
were in the cold tub talking. Okay, how did you
see that happening? Where did this happen for you? What
was your vision like on this play? Those are the
(29:21):
types of guys that you were that you would hope
would come back to share the love to that type
of player.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
He's gonna be a superstar in this game.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
I know a lot of people expect him to be
that thousand yard rusher. He didn't get a chance to
take one to the house because now he's not sneaking
up on people.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
They know, they know he can fly. They definitely know.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
But I want to hear there was a play when
the score was ten and ten and zero and David
Benda on third down shot the gap.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
It made one hell of a tackle. Oh was here?
Speaker 4 (30:01):
Was he not table?
Speaker 2 (30:02):
Let's hurt by David Benda?
Speaker 27 (30:04):
How about the six year senior just hammering justin Marshall for.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
A loss of ball?
Speaker 8 (30:10):
But an outstanding play by David Benda. That's too on
this drive alone. But you're right, he was like a
missile coming in there to meet the ball carrier and
keep Colorado State from their first third down conversion of
the ball game.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
Hard. That was not a blitz. That was a recognition play.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
He saw he saw the guard move and he was like, no,
I'm feeling that spot where he left from bang.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Big play you here, craig Way. Craig Way even popped
like everybody was laughing. I went, oh my god, Yeah,
it was one of those type plays. Man, What instinctual recognition.
Football is what a defensive coach lived for.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
And this is a guy that has had to learn
how to play both offense and defense during his time
here at the Forty Acres and for him to be
able to do that and come out there and make
those impactful plays, it shows these younger guys, hey, we
can do this.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
We're gonna hear from Anthony Hill.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
And Anthony Hill is somebody that thinks very highly of
this defense and oh yeah, he knows that he's pretty
good too, but he gives love to some other players,
just like what you were talking about. You know, when
you can share the love amongst each other. Coach Shark
talked about how close knit this team is. Everybody's pulling
for each other because they they've seen what it looks like.
(31:35):
They've been to the playoffs. You know that there were
forty players that made the trip to Alabama left last
year that are here on the forty Acres, so they're
ready to make that trip to Michigan as well.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
We're just getting started here. When we come back.
Speaker 1 (31:54):

Way week days from two to five pm. Sports Radio A.
I'm thirteen hundred.
Speaker 2 (40:46):
That's welcome back.
Speaker 1 (40:59):
To the morning kickoff right here on sports Radio AM
thirteen hundred The Zone. I wanted to get into this
conversation strictly on the fact that Texas Football, excuse me,
went out and got that big dub that we all
expected him to get, but there was efforts that needed
to be put forth. There were some times last year
(41:21):
where the team didn't come out and necessarily hit on
all cylinders, especially at the beginning of the season. But
when you sit and watch the game, you saw that
this team was dialed in. From Quinn's no look pass
early in the game for a touchdown, to the fact
that arch Manning got a chance to get in and
the decibels went to an all time high when he
(41:44):
finally stepped onto the field. He made a very impressive
throw on the run. But Quinn Yours is the year
of Quinn, right. This is the year that we expected
from Quinn yours. This is the year that we expect
him to ascend to new heights. Some people think that
he'll go over four thousand yards on this season. Heisman
(42:08):
trip to New York to be in the middle of
that conversation. But for me, it's a little bit more
than that. We talked about that secondary. We talked about
the fact that the secondary is much maligned. The reason
why they were much maligned was because they had the
most attempts against them. So when people look at him
(42:28):
and they say, oh, man, your secondary was a little suspect, well.
Speaker 2 (42:33):
Everybody gonna be tired.
Speaker 1 (42:36):
They getting a lot of reps out there in that secondary.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
But you also have to look at.
Speaker 1 (42:41):
The fact of where do we get the better forms
of people. Well, Gavin Holmes making plays on the outside,
wake Forest guy, You got Andrew mccooba coming in again
from Clemson freshman All American. You have guys that are
(43:03):
coming out to make plays that a lot of people
weren't expecting them to be able to do.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
Then you have Dereck Williams, my.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
Guy in the secondary that was coming up and laying
hat on everybody. If you was close, you was getting hit.
If you was in an arm reach, you better get
ready to move out the way because my man is
going to hit you.
Speaker 3 (43:25):
And pro wrestling there's a term now called no yeat
and sat on the shirts yeat men.
Speaker 2 (43:33):
Awesome, good, there's now there's going to be a no yak.
Speaker 3 (43:39):
Derek needs a no yak shirt because once he puts
his hands on you, you go down.
Speaker 2 (43:47):
I don't know, you know how it just looks different
when some people grab you. He just wiry strong for
his size. I mean it's it's kind of scary looking, man. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:58):
He and Michael tap for two of the guys in
that secondary that continue to make plays. So going into
the weekend, if you were listening to our pregame show
and for those that came out, thank y'all so much.
We had a great time. Appreciate John bringing that to you.
One of my keys of the of the game was
going to be the secondary play. Well, the secondary play
(44:22):
showed up and one of those plays that ended up
happening was the one by my guy Jade barn and
Craig Way was the one to let you know all
about it.
Speaker 27 (44:40):
And back to throw a play action threw off his
back foot caller Diklosi gown field a ten or second
picked off now by shot a baron. Here comes the
six year senior to the thirty shot. He to the
thirty pardimid field up the up sideline shot hey Baron.
This first pick of the season brings it all the
way back in the Colorado State territory.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
And one of the guys that was able to do
it as well in the secondary was the young freshman
Wardell Mack who he was in there and he preserved
the shutout with that outstanding catch on the back of
the end zone.
Speaker 2 (45:13):
By the way, for those that.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
Were wondering what was going on on the sideline, when
they get an interception, they get a sword and they
cut the ball. They slice the abbe to stab the ball,
and that is their new sideline celebration. It's kind of
funny though, because I'm like, how sharp is that thing
for them to be able to do something?
Speaker 2 (45:35):
Why is that a thing?
Speaker 3 (45:36):
Because I believe they should have a designated person to
do that. Like you know, when UFC comes out, they
have the guy with the trojan, the same thing with
Florida State they have the Seminole warrior that comes out
with the flaming spear, like.
Speaker 2 (45:58):
That's his job to do that.
Speaker 3 (46:01):
Like, let somebody that's not gonna be playing in the
game have a very sharp implement because I don't want
somebody to get their foot staffed.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
I'm sure that the training staff is close by in
monitoring that.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
No, it's not enough, that's not enough hearts, that's that's
preventative medicine is better than having that have reactionary medicine.
I want somebody else to do that. That's not safe
to me. It's kind of like when they stop, Uh,
what team was it that did the sledge hammer in
(46:37):
the NFL. I think it was Baltimore Ravens. They would
bust the brick or something like that. You're about like you.
They stopped the players from doing it, and then they
had a designated person to bust the brick like you
got it. You can't let the player do that. Somebody's
gonna get hurt. And I'm not Jenson. Nobody's gonna get
(46:59):
hurt because nobody should be doing.
Speaker 2 (47:02):
I got you, I got you.
Speaker 1 (47:03):
But the secondary play continue to be impressive. The other
part of it was about the trenches. Now we understand
that my prediction of them getting two sacks in the
first half did I mean first quarter did not work.
The quarterback play was suspect for them for the whole time.
They were chasing him around, he didn't have any time
(47:26):
to get rid of the football. So those are the
moments that I was kind of upset about. They didn't
get to the quarterback, and to your point, they gave
up one hundred and eighteen yards on the ground, which
that's not what Texas is known for. They know him
to be able to stop the run. But this will
be something that we're going to continue to learn from.
(47:47):
And then of course I talked about the year of Quinn.
The Year of Quinn started with twenty of twenty seven
with an interception, three touchdowns, and a new no look
touchdown passed.
Speaker 2 (47:57):
But it was the accuracy that I was proud of.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
It was the way that he was getting people the
ball in space where they can be able to make
some moves. As we talked about, Isaiah Bahm was the
top targeted wide receiver with seven targets, but the top
receiver was Ryan Wingo for seventy yards. Wingo was somebody
that we all thought is going to be a star
(48:22):
on this team. He's going to be a star in
this conference. But he's a big time wide receiver that
had an opportunity to make big plays and he had
forty three yards after contact. That is the physicality that
you want to see from a young freshman, his ability
to fight and extend and try to get extra yards. Now,
(48:45):
wrap the ball up. Make sure if you're going to
be doing that, you wrap.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
The ball up.
Speaker 1 (48:50):
And he seems to be one of those kids that
you're not going to be able to stop him. You're
a Quinn also included Matthew Golden being able to find
Matthew Golden for two touchdowns, so they have a variety
of weapons. Gunner Helm got a big catch early in
the game, a big reception. So these are the year.
(49:11):
This is the year, and the weekend that we saw
was something that we thought we.
Speaker 2 (49:16):
Were going to see.
Speaker 1 (49:17):
So moving forward, I expect this Texas Longhorned team to
continue to spread the wealth.
Speaker 3 (49:23):
Listen the paths that cleanned through to Golden. The first touchdown,
he looked like Aaron Rodgers. It was so accurate, so
pinpoint precise. There was no opportunity for a defensive play well, and.
Speaker 1 (49:37):
The other part about it was too With that other touchdown,
Golden broke his route off because dude was grabbing his
face mask and still adjusted his helmet for the touchdown,
so it was really impressive to see all that did happen.
Coming up next, we're gonna talk about Texas volleyball and
Scottie Sheffield Dollar Dollar Bill. Y'all right here on the
(50:00):

I mean there could be an abduction in broad dayline.
No one saw it, no one talked about it. These
were like ghosts.
Speaker 32 (54:35):
The numbers started to rise and then a lot of
theories were floated up. The gangs, the serial murder, the cartels,
organ traffickers, the possibility of some sort of strange devil worship.
Speaker 26 (54:48):
It's been fifteen years since I first heard about these murders,
and I've been haunted ever since.
Speaker 11 (54:54):
How is it possible these crimes remain unsolved?
Speaker 4 (54:57):
Well at Johnny.
Speaker 37 (54:58):
To find out, we took to victims, families, FBI agents,
and a psychologist who claims a new one of the culprits.
We traveled to a dangerous pot of downtown Huaires, where
many of the women disappeared.
Speaker 26 (55:13):
Yeah, we're going around looking at the missing posters of
women and we're asking a lot of questions.
Speaker 11 (55:20):
They might send someone to scare us off.

So the Texas this volleyball team, Number one Texas women
volleyball team beat number three Wisconsin in the season opener,
(56:07):
and let's just say they are ready to defend their championship.
They continue to find ways to battle through and show
that this team is so resilient and with Madison Skinner
on the squad Rutherford, they have so much talent that
is so much fun to watch them. We were sitting
(56:28):
there watching it yesterday and we decided it was like
we have to go to a volleyball.
Speaker 2 (56:34):
Matchup to.
Speaker 1 (56:38):
Cause it is like unbelievable to watch these ladies and
what they're capable of doing at such a high level.
Speaker 2 (56:45):
And it's consistent now.
Speaker 1 (56:47):
Like they've had great players that have come through here,
but the consistency in which Jared Elliott has been able
to put together the right squad to be able to
win back to back volleyball championships, it's unheard of.
Speaker 3 (57:03):
It's unheard of. And they lost players. Yeah, I mean
you lose O'Neill. Who's gonna be on the Olympic team,
national team, and like seamless, yep, you have outside hitters
come in that just dominate the floor. Last night it
looked like it was pros playing against high school and
(57:26):
that's the number three team, and that's the number three team,
number three team in the nation. So kudos to them
as they continue their quest to a three peat, which
I would be interested to see if they're going to
be able to pull it out, but it wouldn't be
surprising if they're able to.
Speaker 2 (57:42):
Switching over to.
Speaker 1 (57:43):
Golf, Scottie Scheffler has earned twenty five million dollars by
capturing the FedEx Cup, pushing his earnings including bonuses this
year just over sixty two point three million dollars. This
marks the one one hundred and six official PGA Tour
victory for the Texas men's program, accomplished by seventeen different
(58:08):
individuals of the ninety eight year history of the tour.
And what I've seen from Scotty Scheffler is just a
man that has been dialed in and continues to lock
in to the success. You know, we've seen people go
out and play well, and a lot of people are
talking about well, not Victor Shoffley.
Speaker 2 (58:29):
There was another.
Speaker 1 (58:32):
Player that won two tournaments this year, and they were
asking about the fact, is that better than winning the
FedEx because he won two majors.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
Scotty didn't win two majors this year.
Speaker 1 (58:45):
But because of the way that he did play, he
was able to get enough FedEx points to be able
to win the tour and sixty two point three million
dollars in one year. That's the Steph Curry contract.
Speaker 2 (59:01):
That's range.
Speaker 1 (59:03):
But Steph Curry's getting that regardless. He gotta go, Yeah,
you go out there and win each bout. He's making
sure that he continues to push it. So a great
weekend for the Texas Longhorns, whether it was the football team,
the volleyball team, or of course Scottie Scheffler being able
to win, but the soccer team did their thing as well.
(59:25):
When we come back, our number two is just around
the corner, and we'll continue our conversations, but we'll also
take a look around college football. Brian Kelly uh USU
fans getting a little hot. We'll talk about it right
here on the morning kickoff on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred.
Speaker 2 (59:45):
